  How would one go about defining something like this in an xsd? <start> <request type="typeA"> <elementOnlyFoundInA /> </request> <request type="typeB"> <elementOnlyFoundInB /> </request> </start> I ran xsd.exe just to get an idea of what it might look like, but it does not appear recognize the relationships between the value of type and the contents of the request. Is it even possible to define contents based on an attribute like this in an xsd file?

• [C#] Creating standalone, console (shell) for domain-specific operations

  Say that I have a system service, and I want to offer a low-level maintenance access to it. For that purpose, I'd like to create a standalone, console application that somehow connects to server process and lets user type in commands, allow it to use auto-completion and auto-suggestion on single/double TAB press (just like linux bash shell, mysql cli, cmd.exe, and countless others), allow command line editing capabilities (history, cursor keys to move around text..), etc. Now, it's not that much of a problem to create something like that by rolling my own from scratch, handling user input, scanning pressed keys, and doing correct actions. But, why reinvent the wheel? Is there some library/framework that helps with this kind of problems, just like readline library that offers improved command-line editing capabilities under linux? Of course, this new "shell" would respond only to valid, domain-specific commands, and would suggest valid arguments, options, switches... Any ideas? Thanks!

  Hi all I have a .net class library 2.0 with an app.config with a connectionString section. I have 01 Method that this class library exposes " string GetConnectionString(string name) However even though the app.config in this class library has 3 connstrings it does not read this config.exe.How can I make it read the app.config that resides withing this dll? Again, Usually you will have a web or windows app with a config and it will all work. Mine is a special case I need to read the connectionstring within this class library.   I have created a dll in C++ using a Class Library project in Visual Studio. I need to call a method in the dll from a C# application. I got to know there are 2 approches. One is to add the dll project reference to C# project or use DllExport to export method. However when I tried in both ways it always gives the following error when the dll method is called in runtime. An unhandled exception of type 'System.BadImageFormatException' occurred in TestClient.exe Additional information: An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007000B) Can i know how to avoid this problem ? Thanks in advance!

• Rscript does not recognize setGeneric function

  I am trying to convert an R script into something that a client can run in batch mode. My code uses generic functions and one snippet which is near the beginning goes like: setGeneric("testInput", function(inputData, params = list()) standardGeneric("testInput")) I've been using R CMD BATCH and it works fine. However I couldn't find an easy way to make my script print the output on the console, so based on that (and suggestion that Rscript.exe is the "proper" way to run R batch files) I decided to switch to Rscript. However when running the very same .R file with Rscript I get the following: Error: could not find function "setGeneric" Execution halted I know there is probably a trivial reason behind this but I just cannot figure it out. • IIS 6 Private Key certificate access

  Hi, We have a Web asp.net application running in the framework 2.0 and hosted in an IIS 6 server, and the OS is windows server 2003. The web application is suing a client certificate to be authenticated by a web service. We have impersonalized the application pool with de user “Network Service”. The problem is when we have to access to the private key of the certificate that is stored in the machine key/my storage. The user Network Service cannot access the key. We have given privileges to the Network Service user using the winhttpcertcfg.exe tool, however the result is the same. When we impersonalize the application pool with the local administrator the result is successfully. Therefore we think that the problem is the privileges of the user. If someone could give us some information about, we would be gratefully. Thanks in advance

  I'am using Visual Studio 2010, how to set or automatically change owner of the output file from Visual Studio (such as executable file) to user other than administrator? all output files currently is owned by Administrator (due to Visual studio is launch by administrative privilege), so sometime I can't delete those files due to access permissions. sometime visual studio itself can't delete it too (after i ran the executable) until few minutes, its really annoying when I need to rebuild those executable. anyone know what's the actual problem here? error message is : error LNK1168: cannot open [path to file].exe for writing

• Can an application on the user's computer be started from a Firefox Extension?

  For example, can I start an instance of "Calculator.exe" on the user's computer (if it is available of course) upon some particular event in firefox, say clicking of a button? I thought of perhaps linking the extension to Python's subprocess method using XPCOM. But I was wondering whether there is an easier way. Additional information: I do not, at this point need to interact with the application upon its instantiation. Therefore I am looking for a way to open an application that's all.   I am trying to install an application and a group of services using PSTools, but I want to take into account that the computer I am trying to connect to may be turned off or on a different network, which is not reachable from the internal network. Basically if the machine is not able to be accessed through the admin share, this is the message that I am getting: Couldn't access MachineName: The network path was not found. Make sure that the default admin$ share is enabled on MachineName. • Best practices for packaging resources (jpg's, sound, video) in an iPhone app?

  I'm a newb iPhone developer writing an app that has several large JPGs and sound files. Everything works ok if I drag these non-code resources into my project. But I am wondering if this is the right way to package my app. In Windows development, I would create a "resource DLL" that keeps the .exe size small. What is the equivalent for iPhone? I think I should be creating a "bundle" - can someone please give me some pointers to using these and how to link them into my main project? Thanks!

• C++ Scoping and ambiguity in constructor overloads

  I've tried the following code snippet in 3 different compilers (G++, clang++, CL.exe) and they all report to me that they cannot disambiguate the overloaded constructors. Now, I know how I could modify the call to the constructor to make it pick one or the other (either make explicit that the second argument is a unsigned literal value or explicitly cast it). However, I'm curious why the compiler would be attempting to choose between constructors in the first place given that one of the constructors is private and the call to the constructor is happening in the main function which should be outside the class's scope. • How does Process Explorer enumerate all process names from an XP Guest account?

  I'm attempting to enumerate all running process EXE names, and have stumbled when attempting this on the XP Guest account. I am able to enumerate all Process IDs using EnumProcesses, but when I attempt OpenProcess with PROCESS_QUERY_INFORMATION Or PROCESS_VM_READ, the function fails. I fired up Process Explorer under the XP Guest account, and it was able to enumerate all process names (though as expected, most other information from processes outside the Guest user-space was not present). So, my question is, how can I duplicate the Process Explorer magic to get the process names of services and other processes running outside the Guest account user-space?

• Millisecond-Accurate Scheduling of Future Events in C++/CLI

  I need to create a C++/CLI mixed assembly that can schedule future calls into a native DLL with millisecond accuracy. This will, of course, mean setting a timer (what kind?) for a millisecond or three beforehand, then spinning until the moment and calling the native DLL function. Based on what I've read, I would guess that the callback that the timer calls will need to be native to make sure there are no thunks or GC to delay handling the timer callback. Will the entire thread or process need to be native and CLR-free, though, or can this be done just as accurately with #pragma unmanaged or setting one file of the assembly to compile as native? If so, how? If there is indeed no way to do this in mixed-mode C++/CLI, what would be the easiest way to set up an app/thread (ie, DLL or exe?) to handle it and to get the data back and forth between the native and managed threads/apps?

• What can cause Java to keep running after System.exit()?

  I have a Java program which is being started via ProcessBuilder from another Java program. System.exit(0) is called from the child program, but for some of our users (on Windows) the java.exe process associated with the child doesn't terminate. The child program has no shutdown hooks, nor does it have a SecurityManager which might stop System.exit() from terminating the VM. I can't reproduce the problem myself on Linux or Windows Vista. So far, the only reports of the problem come from two Windows XP users and one Vista user, using two different JREs (1.6.0_15 and 1.6.0_18), but they're able to reproduce the problem every time. Can anyone suggest reasons why the JVM would fail to terminate after System.exit(), and then only on some machines?

• I can't find a DirectX installer to run from my installer.

  I tried this one. But it's the annoying one which asks you where to extract temp files, my users won't know what this means. I also tried the web installer, but you're not strictly allowed to use this. I don't really follow the windows setup stuff, but is there a single .EXE I am allowed to distribute and run, which just works (for DX 9.0C) with some command-line args? Or some other way, which can can described in idiot-proof steps and and called in one command-line argument from an installer script like Inno?

  Hello I need to find out exactly what files/directories a Lua program uses so I can try to only pack what it needs into a ZIP file, and come up with a simple way to deploy this script. I used SysInternals' Process Monitor, but I'm surprised by the small amount of information it returned while it watched the program (For Lua users out there, it's wsapi.exe, which is the launcher for the light-weight Xavante web server). Does someone know of a good Windows application that can completely monitor what a program does, eg. something like a live version of the venerable PCMag's InCtrl5. Thank you.

  hi expert, I develop code in python to scan wifi and send to the server, it's working fine when executed manually, but i packaged it via http://www.python-packager.com by uploading my .py file and they create package for me as deb file for linux, and i download it and install the package but nothing happen when i click the .exe or set it as startup application. Why does this happen? Nothing is printed in the terminal. In .py file i'm having print statement to check manually to list out the wifi scan value, data to post to the server, response from the server once send. How this can be solved? thanks

• Best memory settings for eclipse 4.2 (STS 3.1) on Windows 7 64 bit?

  I apoligize in advance if this question is indeed too subjective as SO warns me. My workstation has 8 gb of ram and runs windows 7 64 bit. I use the Spring tool Suite (3.1) but as soon as i am starting to open and modify the spring config (.xml) files, STS becomes incredibly slow. I already tried switching off "build automatically" and to increase memory settings but no luck. • Building ffmpeg with an executable output

  I generally don't like to ask such "you figure it out for me" questions, but I suspect this one will be really simple for a C++ guru. I want to build ffmpeg for Android, and I'd like it to output an executable rather than a set of libraries. We've been using the guardian project's build: https://github.com/guardianproject/android-ffmpeg It does produce what we want, but I've found tweaking it for different architectures to be, at best, unpleasant. I've gotten this version to build: https://github.com/appunite/AndroidFFmpeg It does a nice job of slicing and dicing different architectures, but produces a jni version. There is a long story as to why I want the exe, but I'll skip it for now. Is there a flag that needs to be flipped? Some path or other setting? I am at this point fully baffled. Thanks in advance.
