  Fusion Applications provides several types of interfaces to facilitate integration with other applications within the enterprise and on the cloud.As one of the key integration interfaces, Fusion Applications (FA) supports SOAP services based integration, both inbound and outbound. At this point FA doesn’t provide REST API’s but it is planned for a future release. It is however possible to invoke external REST APIs from FA which we will discuss. Oracle continues to invest in improving both SOAP and REST based connectivity. The content in this blog is based on features that were available at the time of writing it. In this two part blog, I will cover the following topics briefly. Invoking FA SOAP web services from external applications Identifying the FA SOAP web service to be invoked Sample invocation from an external application Techniques to invoke FA services from an ADF application Invoking external SOAP Web Services from FA (covered in Part 2) Invoking external REST APIs from FA (covered in Part 2) I’ll touch upon some basics, so that you can quickly build a few SOAP/REST interactions with FA. Invoking FA SOAP web services from external applications There are two main types of services that FA exposes -  ADF Services - These services allow you to perform CRUD operations on Fusion business objects. For example, Sales Party Service, Opportunity Service etc. Using these services you can typically perform operations such as get, find, create, delete, update etc on FA objects.These services are typically useful for UI driven integrations such as looking up FA information from external application UIs, using third party Interfaces to create/update data in FA. They are also used in non-UI driven integration uses cases such as initial upload of business or setup data, synchronizing data with an external systems, etc. - Composite Services – These services involve more logic than CRUD and often involving human workflows, rules etc. These services perform a business function such as Get Orchestration Order Service and are used when building larger process based integrations with external systems.These services are usually asynchronous in nature and are not typically used for UI integration patterns. 1a. Identifying the FA SOAP web service to be invoked All FA web service metadata is available through an OER instance (Oracle Enterprise Repository) which is publicly available via http://fusionappsoer.oracle.com. This is the starting point for you to discover the services that you are going to work with. • Why do my Xcode default font starts to look ugly after some time, until I restart?

  I plugged in an external monitor. All resolutions match perfectly. MacBookPro LCD is closed. After restarting Xcode editor fonts look very bad. Only in Xcode. When I restart the mac and DON'T use an external monitor, fonts look all right again. When I attach the monitor and close the LCD of the MacBookPro, fonts look nice. Then I close Xcode and reopen it: Fonts suck. Only way to get fonts look good is to disconnect external monitor and reboot, then reconnect external monitor, close LCD, wait, hit any key and let the external monitor be the only one. Fonts look nice - until I restart Xcode. I think it happens any time Xcode is launched with external monitor attached and ugly fonts survive until reboot. Unplugging external monitor and restarting Xcode doesn't help. It seems like Xcode isn't antialiasing them properly after something happens. Is there a fix for this problem? EDIT: After trying a few more times, it seems it is possible to get fonts to look nice by disconnecting external monitor and reopening xcode. Here are some little snapshots: GOOD FONT: UGLY FONT: You can see how dirty the ugly font looks. It's very hard to read and hurts in the eyes. Believe me. It sucks. Sometimes the little "i" are almost invisible. I make use of the very eye-friendly Dusk style of Xcode (go to preferences and choose that, if you haven't already. A real pleasure for your eyes)

• Why does OS X insist on spinning up all external drives when loading a file from the local drive?

  Why does OS X insist on spinning up all the attached external drives (firewire, usb) when loading a file from the local (internal) drive? It's driving me insane that I have to wait for 3 attached drives (1 back-up, 2 media) to spin up -- a total of 20s -- to access a file that is located only on my local/internal drive. There is no obvious need to access the other drives; nothing is being read from them and nothing need be written. Examples: Quicktime X opening a file from the local HDD. Starting Caffeine, an app which doesn't access any other files at all. Can I tell OS X to only spin those drives up when actually accessing them?

• How to create a very simple external FastCGI configuration in apache?

  I have an externally started FastCGI application that listens on socket '/tmp/foo.sock' and a directory of static files in '/srv/static'. Apache has all needed permissions on the socket and the directories. What I need : All requests starting with '/static' should be handled by apache using the contents of '/srv/static'. All other requests should be handled by the FastCGI application. Here is my current virtual host configuration: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerAdmin [email protected] ServerName www.foo.com ServerAlias foo.com Alias /static /srv/static FastCgiExternalServer /* -socket /tmp/foo.sock ErrorLog /var/log/apache2/error.log # Possible values include: debug, info, notice, warn, error, crit, # alert, emerg. According to http://www.fastcgi.com/mod_fastcgi/docs/mod_fastcgi.html#FastCgiExternalServer the first parameter to 'FastCgiExternalServer' should be a 'filename' that when matched will cause apache to delegate the request to the external FastCGI app. What am I missing here?

  I don't really have any need to mess with passenger or capistrano at the moment. I simply want to run rails on boot on port 3000. I've attempted to replicate this tutorial for node as much as I could to run rails: I've a railsup script in /etc/init.d/ that goes something like: #!/bin/sh export PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/bin case "$1" in start) cd /root/rails_app; /usr/local/rvm/gems/ruby-2.0.0-p247/bin/rails server -d -p 3005 ;; # starting other stuff *) I've also included it with update-rc.d I got it to work, but only if I run the script manually - it doesn't seem to run on boot. Is there any reason why ../bin/rails is unavailable on boot? I imagine there's something about ruby path \ rvm \ rails that I'm unaware of? Is there a way to use crontab's @reboot for this?

  I have had some success with usb docks like this Universal Docking Station by Kensington to connect one external display to my laptop while using the onboard vga port for another display. But that's only two displays and I'm shooting for three. All I do is develop software and work in Photoshop... no games. For the sake of discussion, we can assume a Thinkpad or equivalent laptop with Windows 7 (I'm hoping for a platform-agnostic solution). How could I do this?

• How can ShadowProtect SBS backup to alternating external drives?

  I am trying to configure ShadowProtect SBS (v. 4.1.5.10129) in Windows Server 2003 SBS to backup my server hard drives to two alternating external drives. What I want is to be able to swap one drive for another every Friday, and have ShadowProtect continue on the same schedule. Ideally, this would require absolutely no user interaction whatsoever, apart from physically unplugging one drive and reconnecting the other. The trouble is, Windows Server 2003 does not allow you to assign the same drive letter to two different devices. So if I plug in drive #1 and assign it drive letter "X:", the next week when I unplug it and plug in drive #2, it gets some other letter. But since ShadowProtect is set to backup to "X:\", it can't find it and the backup fails. The drives are Samsung STORY Station 3.0 2TB drives. How can I configure things so I can just swap the drives over every week and not worry about having to reconfigure drive letters every time?

  After reading the vague official doc of GNU screen( http://www.gnu.org/software/screen/manual/screen.html ) and asking quite some questions at this site. I still cannot figure out how to accomplish such a task with a shell script. This task costs some words to describe. Assume I'm using PuTTY to telnet into my Linux server. ?STEP 1? Launch 2 telnet connections . From putty window 1 (PTWIN1),telnet into Linux Bash shell, execute screen -RR to launch a screen session, and get session name 21385.pts-4.linux-ic37 . From putty window 2 (PTWIN2), do that same as in PTWIN1, but this time, I get session name 22041.pts-9.linux-ic37 . Now, we have two screen sessions running simultaneously. We can check this: $ screen -ls There are screens on: 22041.pts-9.linux-ic37 (Attached) 21385.pts-4.linux-ic37 (Attached) 2 Sockets in /var/run/uscreens/S-chj2. ?STEP 2? Assume that for some reason, PTWIN1's TCP connection is lost abnormally(but server doesn't know that), and an urgent work is pending on session 21385 and I want to quickly regain control of it. Fortunately, we know the 21385 session is still there, so, I want to have PTWIN2 attach to session 21385. Because I hate to remember the esoteric screen option all the time, so I decide to write a script called sttach. I hope that sttach 21385.pts-4.linux-ic37 can let me attach to session 21385(for PTWIN2). Now, let's say sttach works well and I take control of 21385 on PTWIN2. ?STEP 3? Some minutes later. I want to go back to work on session 22041. Here, please allow me to have PTWIN2 remain associated with session 21385. What I would like to do is to launch another putty window (PTWIN3), telnet into server, and execute sttach 22041.pts-9.linux-ic37 in hope that I can resume session 22041 on PTWIN3 . You can see the benefit of sttach: as long as I know the target session name, I can call it to have my PuTTY window switch to that session, regardless whether the target session is "(Attached)" or "(Detached)", and regardless whether the running context is inside a screen session or not. Now the question: How to write the (Bash) script sttach? I mean, run screen with appropriate options in sttach to accomplish the goal. Waiting for your kind answer. Thank you.   I am currently setting up a Linux server for a WIFI access-point. When ever someone who is connected to the hotspot/access-point? tries to reload a page they get forced onto the one page. Note: this wont have internet access! ie: user tries accessing www.google.com = it returns 192.168.1.200 or example.domain I've read that "dnsmasq" can be used to redirect any external addresses to an internal address. but haven't had any luck. Anyone have an example of a config for "dnsmasq"? I have also read that this can be done through a proxy?

• Linux how to force an external ping from eth0 to eth1 without a router.

  Hello, i am trying to have eth0 connected to eth1 on the same machine with a loopback cable. I have eth0 as 2.2.2.1 and eth1 as 2.2.2.2 with netmask 255.255.255.0 and the right Bcast 2.2.2.255 . I tried to ping -I eth0 2.2.2.2 and ping -I eth1 2.2.2.1. My issue is that even when the loopback cable is not plugged the ping still succeed( as if it is an internal ping). How can I force an external ping where I make sure the packets are going through the connected cable? ( I know I can have a router and both ethernets connected to it, but I am avoiding to use anything besides a simple cat 5 cable). Thanks.

"These machines are now on Domain where in we have no rights/control on the domain level GPO", we have local admi rights on these machines We have a requirement do set the "Windows Firewall with Advanced Security" to "NOT Configured" or "OFF "on these machines In gpedit.msc if we manually go to "Windows Firewall with Advanced Security" after enabling Windows Firewall Services then can Clear the settings Do do the same manually on all machines is extra effort Changing values in registry will get reverted on machine restart as its getting applied from local GPO Also using GPMC can connect to remote computer and can manually or using wfw file we can make it not configured but we are looking for a script or a less effort method to accomplish this Please suggest NB: CIA has already reported similar issue//How do I turn off Windows 7 Firewall via script or through automation?// , but doing netsh advfirewall set allprofiles state off on already deployed machines did not make change (FW service on all machine is disabled in GOLd image)// Thanks and Regards Jose

  Hello all, I make a GET request to a CGI script and I get a 404 error. However, I am 100% sure that script is present and it has permissions: -rwxr-xr-x 1 apache apache 6520 Sep 7 03:01 uu_ini_status_audios.pl The request URL is: http://mysite.com/cgi-bin/uu_ini_status_audios.pl?tmp_sid=893facacc5dc392ad0f4c91e6a9e8d40&rnd_id=0.12266222834382812 The error I get: The requested URL /cgi-bin/uu_ini_status_audios.pl was not found on this server. This use to work for me before, but I think it stopped working after I restarted apache so maybe it means its a configuration I changed?? I checked the error logs for apache and php and nothing useful was found to help me with my problem! I appreciate any help on this!

I was wondering if there is a pre-existing survey that is 1) Online 2) Determines the browsers being used etc. without the users having to type it in 3) Determine connectivity from IP address. (Like how Speedtest.com does ). It can tell what your ISP is ,etc without having the user fill it in. The ability to add other questions. I would to know if there is some way to see if my hard disk was used during my absence.   Here's my situation: New to Ubuntu (just installed 9.10 Karmic Koala 64 bit) Purpose: to easily run PyCharm without too much typing (ie. cd... ./pycharm.sh) Want to create desktop Launcher instead of terminal & typing (without resorting to the "Run in Terminal" option) Tried to create Launcher to executes .sh script in Document directory Right-clicked Desktop Create Launcher a. Type == Application; Browse [insert absolute path to .sh script]; no luck b. Type == Application in Terminal; Browse ...ditto I'm open to any other alternatives that involve as little typing as possible. I would like to just start Ubuntu, click Launcher icons, and have terminals spring to life, running the intended scripts. Crazy? No. Lazy? Probably. Productive? Hopefully :)

• Can't change permission/ownership/group of external hard drive on Ubuntu.

  I have an external hard drive connected to my Linux box. I wanted to setup a web server to access files on it, but the permission on all files and directories on the drive are "rwx" for the owner which is my local login, and the group is the "root" group. I need the files readable by the apache user, I was trying to set all files to be "chmod a+rwx -R *", but this doesn't do anything (gives no errros, just has no effect.) I tried chaning the group using "chgrp" to my user group, but that won't work either, it gives me errors that I lack permission even when I run all those commands as sudo! What's up with this hard drive??? "sudo chmod a+rwx *" should work on anything, right?

My script goes like this. diskpart /s "abc.txt" where abc.txt is: sel disk 1 create part primary format FS=NTFS label=label2 quick compress My Problem here is I want to 'loop' the commands in abc.txt for the number of disks that exists. But I cannot send an argument like %1 to abc.txt file as it is a .txt file. and my diskpart /s can only take a .txt file as an argument. how to overcome this... could anybody please help?

• Can I run AD commands from a standard PowerShell script?

  I am putting together a script to run post-sysprep. It should check if the machine is on the network, and if it is then it should query AD to see if a computer account exists with it's service tag (we're using these as the hostnames of the machines.) If it does exist, it should delete the account and rejoin the machine to the domain. I have got the majority of the script running, but need to run the following: Remove-ADComputer -Identity $distinguishedName How can I run this from the "standard" powershell environment? I don't want to use the AD module. (By the way - I'm on a mixed mode 2000/03 domain as we are in the process of upgrading to 2008) I'm new to PowerShell so be gentle if I'm completely missing the point! Thanks, Ben

  I am a bit puzzled by the way to handle server upgrade planning for software we maintain on remote sites. This is my case: I work for a software company that has many external clients. We are trying to be more Agile in our development so we plan to release small improvements every quarter and we wish to keep our clients informed of maintenance schedules. Instead of having angry clients that believe there ROI of our support plan is low, we want to be more proactive. Lets say we have 100 machines to take care of, is there some tool to assist me in planing the maintenance with clients? Right now I get a call from a client that is unhappy requesting we upgrade them, that is when we go into panic mode and start making calls. That is when I need to check my calendar, coordinate with the other guys, call a few times, change the date again and again until everyone is happy. Can this be done better?

• How to stop basic Postfix after-queue script from BCC-ing sender?

  I'm building a content filter for Postfix (2.9.3 package installed via apt on an Ubuntu 12.04 test VM) and I'm starting with a very basic Ruby (1.9.3) template and building up functionality. Strangely, when the script is enabled, messages sent are being forwarded on as normal, but also sent back to the sender which is not normal. Disabling the script disables this behavior. Any suggestions about what I have to change to stop that from happening? • How to make addin visible on toolbar by script or batch process?

  I have an addin for Excel 2003. I tried to use MSDN's vbs script to make it installed, see my previous post question. It seems working as addin, but it does not displayed on toolbar when it is first installed on a box. What I have to do is to go to Tools-Add-Ins.. to uncheck my addin, for example myAddin, and then go back to the same dialog window again to check it. I think there must be somewhere Excel has config settings in xml or registry? Any way to run a script to set this addin visible in toolbar?
