  • run the script only once?

    being new to php and coming from asp.net, i would like to know if there is an equivalent of IsPostBack, which calls a function or a method only once, once the user is logged in. i have a facebook application, in which once the user authorizes the application it should enter his details in the database. this basic stuff should have been done using the post-authorize callback url which facebook pings when the user first authorizes the app, but somehow that is not working; hence i have to do it manually. the issue is that, since i'm checking whether the user exists or not in index.php, i would not like index.php to run this code repeatedly for the same user when the user goes to the homepage every time. any ideas?

I am currently using this code: objGraphics.Clear(SystemColors.Control); What I want to do is Clear this object to black (or some other RGB color), and I'm stumped as to how to replace the SystemColors.Control with, preferably, an RGB color spec.     This is a bit of a naive / simple question. I'm having a hard time finding this info online. Basically, does rspec run rake db:test:prepare between every rspec group? Or is it between every example or model? Or does the schema get loaded once and then truncated between each. I need to add a rake task directly after this call to create a view since they are not supported in schema.rb. Either a link or explanation would be greatly appreciated so that I know where to insert my rake task to create a view. Or whether there is a callback like rake db:test:after_prepare thx

Two of them are: var typeInfo = Type.GetType("MyClass") and var typeInfo = typeof(MyClass) The advantage of the second way is that typos will be caught by the compiler, and the IDE can understand what I'm talking about (allowing features like refactoring to work without silently breaking the code) Does there exist an equivalent way of strongly referencing members/properties/methods for metadata and reflection?   • How to do bulk update of views?

    My database has about 30 views, most of which have a reference to another database on this server (call it DB1). Now, without going into the reasons why, I need to update all those views to DB2, also on the local server. I would hate to have to do this manually on each view. Is there some SQL query I can run that will replace all occurrences of the string 'DB1' with 'DB2' in all my views?

  • Using an observer within an Engine

    I've created an Engine which is basically used for all of our projects. Now what I want to do is add a before_create callback to all of the models in this Engine. After some searching I found out that an observer is the way to go. So, I've created this observer: class AuthObserver < ActiveRecord::Observer def before_create( record ) p record end end And now I need to add it to the application, but of course in my Engine there is no such file as application.rb. What I tried is adding it to an initializer located in /config/initializers/observers.rb Like so: Rails.application.config.active_record.observers = :auth_observer But this doesn't work, and it throws no errors. Anybody out here has experience using an observer inside an engine? Thanks a lot!

  • Ajax page.replace_html problems with partials in Rails

    Hello, I am having a problem with a pretty simple AJAX call in rails. I have a blog-style application and each post has a "like" feature. I want to be able to increment the "like" on each post in the index using AJAX onclick. I got it to work; however, the DOM is a bit tricky here, because no matter what partial its looking at, it will only update the TOP partial. so if I click "like" on post #2, it will update and replace the "likes" on post #1 instead. But this is an index of posts, so if I wanted to updated the second "postcontent" div on the page, it will still replace the html of the first.     Question How do I setup Hudson so that if one person triggers a build, Hudson will put it on the queue and wait lets say 2 minutes, and during those 2 minutes if another build is triggered it will replace the older build on the queue with the new build? This way if there are 2 builds in those 2 minutes, Hudson will only perform the last build.

    I want to make console window with a functional tray icon. I figured out that most probably it is necessary to replace initial console's window procedure so I will be able to control all messages including notify area events. But SetWindowLong function returns 0, and GetLastError() tells that access is denied. hwndFound = GetConsoleWindow(); SetWindowLong(hwndFound, GWL_WNDPROC, (long)WndProc); What could it be, or maybe there is some other way to control tray icon manipulations?

    I've got a WCF service that offers multiple lists of items of different types. The lists can be changed on the server. Every change has to be published to all clients to make sure every client has an up-to-date copy of each server list. Currently I'm using this strategy: On login, every client receives the current status of every list. On every change, the added or removed item is sent to all clients. The drawback is that I have to create a callback for every list, since the items are of different types. Is there a pattern I could apply? Or do I really have to duplicate code for each of the lists?

    Is there an easy way to update the data source for multiple pivot tables on a single Excel sheet at the same time? All of the pivot tables reference the same named range, but I need to create a second worksheet that has the same pivot tables, but accessing a different named range. Ideally I would like to be able to do some kind of search and replace operation (like you can do on formulae), rather than updating each individual pivot table by hand. Any suggestions?

It strips out any HTML formatting present, but it's not handling HTML special entity codes properly -- it's rendering &mdash as the literal string instead of replacing it with an em-dash, etc. Is there any systematic way I can make it handle those codes properly, or am I going to need to manually replace those strings regex style?
