Writing a compiler for that language. I know the advantages/disadvantages of each. I'd like to know what choices game programmers have made for their games.   I've developed several games for the android platform and now planning to create my first multiplayer game. What I have in mind is basically just a 2-player game witch you can play with 2 phones over local area connection/WiFi. Both phones need to be able to pass 3 integer values to the other phone in real time. • Compile Qt Project To Run On A Linux System

  I have a Qt project. It uses the cross platform libraries SDL, OpenGL and FLTK. I want to be able to compile the project so that it can run on a Linux computer. I'm looking at a bunch of articles I have seen so far two ways to do this. Use a cross compiler, which seems to me a rather complicated thing to setup and compile with, or, the other options, is to compile the project simply on a Linux computer, simply the Linux version of Qt creator/SDK. My question is, If I have a Qt project that uses only cross platform libraries, then is creating a Windows version easy as compiling it in Qt/Windows, and creating the Linux version as easy as doing it in Qt/Linux? PS. Please don't ask/complain about why I didn't just try to see if it works myself, I don't have any Linux OS's installed on my computer right now, and I don't want to risk going into the trouble of installing a whole new OS just to have it not work in the end.

• How can I pass Arguments to a C++ program started by the Registry?

  Hello, I'm creating a Win32 program that will be executed every time the computer turns on. I manage to do this by adding the .exe path into the registry. The problem is; I want to make the program appear minimized in the system tray when the computer is turned on but if I double click it [after the computer turns on and the program is not currently running] the program should appear on its normal [maximized] size. Question, I was thinking on whether is was possible to pass an argument to the program when the program is executed from the registry. Is this possible? If yes/no, how would I manage to do this? (Using windows XP) Thanks.

  Breathing (the movement of chest and face features): I'd like to ask if it is hard to model and whether it is computationaly expensive. I recently noticed the great effect it has in Madagascar 3 movie, but (please, correct me if I am wrong) don't remember seeing it in any games (except maybe steam cloud in cold/winter setting) and very few animated movies does that to noticable degree (e.g. when it is necessary by the plot or situation). I'd greatly appreciate answers from both movie graphics and game graphics perspective.

• Is Ubuntu recognizing and/or using my NVIDIA graphics card?

  This is my first post here, and I'm pretty new to Ubuntu/Linux. I currently have no other OS except for Ubuntu 13.10. (I used to have Win7 until i got a new terabyte hard drive). My current PC build, if any of this helps: CPU: Intel i5 quad-core Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 RAM: 8 GB HDD: 1 TB SATA 3 Motherboard: MSi Z77 A-G41 OS Ubuntu 13.10 So I recently installed Ubuntu 13.10 and put Steam on it, and I'm seeing that my games run a lot slower than they did when I had Win7. I figured it was a graphics problem, so I checked System Settings Details Overview. It says in "Graphics" that I have "Gallium 0.4 on NVE7" (don't really know what that is). Does this mean that Ubuntu is not using my graphics card? In System Settings Software & Updates Additional Drivers, it clearly shows like this: NVIDIA Corporation: GK107 [GeForce GTX 650] -This device is using an alternative driver (And then it shows a list of drivers that I can switch back and forth to) So this is a bit confusing. In Software and Updates, it clearly shows that I have my NVIDIA card installed, and that I have a driver selected for it. But in System Settings, it shows I have some Gallium 0.4 thing. I had done a bit of research, and ended up typing command: "lspci|grep VGA" in the Terminal. It showed this in response: VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GK107 [GeForce GTX 650] (rev a1) The Terminal seems to recognize my graphics card. What it looks like to me, is that I don't have the proper driver, and I might be using my CPU's integrated graphics. When I switch around which driver I am using in that list, it still does not see my card in System Settings. Some of the drivers in the list give me some sort of OpenGL error when I try to run a game. It might just be that my games are running slow because the game developers have not optimized it for Ubuntu that well. However, that still doesn't take away from the fact that System Settings is not showing my NVIDIA card. TL;DR Version: How do I know if my video card is being recognized/used? If my video card is not being used, what is the best way fix that? Please make your answers easy to understand. I do not mind wordy responses, as long as I can follow what you're saying. • Uninstalled aplications still show launcher icons under installed aplications?

  The question is in the title, I always remove applications that I do not use after installing or upgrading, this includes games etc (wish it was possible to install Ubuntu with no applications then add the ones I require after, is this possible?) Anyway after removing the applications they still show under the installed applications menu, if you click on them nothing happens but how do I get rid of the remaining icons?

I've tried firebug, but had no luck in getting the json back.

One idea is to playback short sound pulses or chirps every second from the computer that get picked up by the microphone on the camcorder. So the question is: is this behaviour a peculiarity of Panda3d, or is it a fundamental law which applies to all games engines?

  I have an application written in C# I believe and it adds images to a SQL Server 2005 Database. It requires .NET 3.5 to be installed on my computer. I installed .NET 3.5 and setup a database. It runs fine but then once it gets to image 100 when running on one computer, It stops and gives me this error: Can't open image(s) with error: External component has thrown an exception.... When I run the program on my own computer I am able to reach 300 images but then it stops after 300 images and gives me Can't open image(s) with error: External component has thrown an exception.... error once again. please help!

  Hi I'm a techie with no programing experience. I know html and css, but I'd like to someday be able to make an app for my phone (I have an android) and possibly mobile websites. I made learning a programing language and creating a mobile app a goal for my job, and now my boss would like me to pick a programing language to learn. I found a free open course from MIT (http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/electrical-engineering-and-computer-science/6-00-introduction-to-computer-science-and-programming-fall-2008/) called introduction to computer science. In the course they teach python, but more importantly it seems they teach how to think like a programmer. When I told my boss about the free online course she didn't think that Python was an appropriate language for me to learn. She'd like me to learn a language that is more similar to one used to make Phone apps. Does anyone out there know a better language for me to pick up that would be similar to Android or iPhone's App language. Thank you
