    Imagine I want a user to be able to copy-paste a selection of pixels from MSPaint into a browser-based app. Is this possible using JavaScript in any current browsers? Will it become possible in HTML5? If not, is it feasible using something like Flex/Silverlight, or is it simply not possible at this time, and you'd have to save a file and manually upload it?

    Hallo, my SO friend, my question is: Specification: annotate the fields of FILE_2 to the corresponding position of FILE_1. A field is marked, and hence identified, by a delimiter pair. I did this job in python before I knew awk and sed, with a couple hundred lines of code. Now I want to see how powerful and efficient awk and sed can be. Show me some masterpiece of awk or sed, please!     I know this is probably a very simple question, but can someone please walk me through how to take what a user inputs into a s:TextInput and use that as a variable in a JSON data request? Basically, I want to have a user enter a search term, like "math" and then have that placed into a variable so I can use it in a JSON request. Something like public var q:String, except that my search box (and hence user input) is on another "view" of the application. I've just started with Flex Mobile applications and I might be way out of my league. Does anyone know how to do this?

  • Creating a new window that stays on top even when in full screen mode (Qt on Linux)

    I'm using Qt 4.6.3, and ubuntu linux on an embedded target. I call dlg->setWindowState(Qt::WindowFullScreen); on my windows in my application (so I don't loose any real-estate on the touch screen to task bar and status panel on the top and bottom of the screen. This all works fine and as expected. The issue comes in when I want to popup the on screen keyboard to allow the user to input some data. I use m_keyProc= new QProcess(); m_keyProc->start("onboard -s 640x120"); This pops up the keyboard but it is behind the full screen window. The onbaord keyboards preferences are set such that it is always on top, but that seems to actually mean "except for full screen windows". I guess that makes sense and probably meets most use cases, but I need it to be really on top. Can I either A) Not be full screen mode (so the keyboard works) and programmatically hide the task bars? or B) Force the keyboard to be on top despite my full screen status? Note: On windows we call m_keyProc->start("C:\\Windows\\system32\\osk.exe"); and the osk keyboard is on top despite the full screen status. So, I'm guessing this is a difference in window mangers on the different operating systems. So do I need to set some flag on the window with the linux window manager?

    Let's say I have a string in an RTL language such as Arabic with some English chucked in: string s = "Test:?????;?????;?????;a;b" Notice there are semicolons in the string. When I use the Split command like string[] spl = s.Split(';');, then some of the strings are saved in reverse order. This is what happens: ??Test:????? ????? ????? a b The above is out of order compared to the original. Instead, I expect to get this: ?Test: ????? ????? ????? a b I'm prepared to write my own split function. However, the chars in the string also parse in reverse order, so I'm back to square one. I just want to go through each character as it's shown on the screen.

Is there some way I can run it through a function or something before displaying it?

    I wrote my layout entirely in java code because it was just more convenient. (I had a lot of textViews and using for statements were more convenient). However, my TextViews require the day of the week and in portrait mode, I would like to cut the day of the week to a short form. For example, I want "Sunday" to show "Sun" for portrait mode, but "Sunday" for landscape mode. I understand how to do this in XML files, but how do I do it in code?     After getting a helpful answer here, I have run into yet another problem: displaying two or more strings in the column I want it to be displayed in. For an example of the problem I have, I want this output: Come here! where? not here! but instead get Come here! where? not here! when I use the code cout << left << setw(30) << "Come here!" << " where? " << setw(20) << "not here!" << endl; I made sure (I think) that the width of both columns could contain the two strings, but no matter how large I set the width of the columns to be, the error is still there.
