    I have this SQL by a programmer: $sql = " INSERT INTO `{$database}`.`table` ( `my_id`, `xType`, `subType`, `recordID`, `textarea` ) VALUES ( {$my_id}, ?xType, ?subType, {$recordID}, ?areaText ) "; My question is why is he using ? before values? How do I see what values are coming in? I did echo and it shows ?xType as ?xType. No values. What does ? stand for in SQL?

  • How to install DBD::mysql on OS X Server 10.6?

    Trying to install DBD::mysql on OS X Server 10.6 (mac mini server). But I'm missing the mysql headers apparently. Since mysql is already part of OS X Server 10.6, I would like to NOT install anything else (no fink or darwin ports installs), just whatever's needed to get DBD::mysql installed and working. Do you know how I could do that? Do I have to install the headers somewhere? And if so, where? (again: I don't want to install another version of mysql on the box, want to use the version it came with). Is there a way to install DBD::mysql without compiling any C files? The current load/uptime line on the server at the time of this email is 07:00:37 up 11:30, 0 users, load average: 14.64, 16.79, 20.07" I don't know, I have tried switching these config values many different times, but nothing seems to work. I would like to display this information on a googlemap in my browser. Ideally i'd like to then poll the database periodically and if any new co-ords have arrived, add them to the line.   • Form Submitting Incorrect Information to MySQL Database

    I've created a form that submits data to a MySQL database but the Date, Time, Year and Month fields constantly revert to the exact same date (1st January 1970) despite the fact that when I submit the information to the database the form displays the current date, time etc to me. I've already set it so that the time and date fields automatically display the current time and date. Could someone please help me with this. We're building a new outbound smtp server for our clients that features anti-spam scanning and virus scanning for outbound emails, something we had not previously done. So with CentOS 5.5 x64, Installed and patched completely. Postfix & Dovecot both installed via base repo. Surely I'm doing something wrong or forgetting something, can anyone tell me what the elephant in the room is? This stuff is supposed to work.

Falling back to other methods to determine prerequisites So then I tried checksetup.pl's suggestion and ran: /usr/bin/perl install-module.pl --all And it seems to have installed DBD::SQLite without any problems, but again I see a warning that says it's skipping tests because of notest pragma. When I re-run checksetup.pl It shows 3 of the 4 original DB drivers in the "not found" list: PostgreSQL: /usr/bin/perl install-module.pl DBD::Pg MySQL: /usr/bin/perl install-module.pl DBD::mysql Oracle: /usr/bin/perl install-module.pl DBD::Oracle So running it with --all seems to have installed the SQLite driver without any problems, but for some reason I can't seem to install the MySQL driver. Again I need MySQL because thats what XAMPP uses and because I prefer MySQL regardless. I have a feeling it has something to do with this notest pragma error. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

    I'm using xampp and navicat to manage mysql on two dev machines (laptop & desktop). The laptop is my main machine, while the desktop acts as a local dev server for the group. Connecting to mysql via localhost in navicat is working fine on the laptop. Is there a way (other than the http tunneling method) to allow access to the desktop from the laptop via navicat?

  • mysql 5.0.23 vs 5.5 performance benefits and upgrade issues ?

    I have been told that mysql 5.5 has a significant performanance boost compared to 5.0 Our server handles alot of data (around 30 million records processed per 5-10 seconds) and requires every drop of performance boost we can give. Will it be beneficial if we upgrade from 5.0.23 to mysql 5.5 ? Also, we have lots of database indexes setup on the tables and i've been told that sometimes the indexes become corrupt after a version upgrade and they have to be rebuilt. Is this true ?
