  Hi all, I'm writing a Java applet where I should be able to simulate a connection between two hosts. Hence I have to generate packet round-trip times at random. These RTTs can go from ~0 to infinity, but are typically oscillating around some average value (i.e. an extremely large or small value is very improbable but possible). I was wondering if anyone had an idea of how I could do this? Thanks in advance

  I have some strings that need a-strippin': ÃœT: 9.996636,76.294363 Tons of long strings of location codes. A literal regex in PHP won't match them, IE $pattern = /ÃœT:/; echo preg_replace($pattern, "", $row['location']); Won't match/strip anything. (To know it's working, /T:/ does strip the last bit of that string). What's the encoding error going on here? Alternately, I would accept a concise way to take out just the numbers.

• OleDB Jet - Float issues in reading excel data

  When I read a sheet into a DataTable using the OleDbDataReader, floating point numbers loose their precision. I tried forcing OleDb to read the excel data as string, but although the data is now contained in a DataRow with each Column defined as System.String it looses precision (18.125 - 18.124962832). Any idea how to avoid this behaviour?

• Android: Any way to auto-pair to another device over Bluetooth without prompting for a pin?

  I am looking for a way to connect to Android devices via Bluetooth without user intervention(assuming at least on device is set to "Discoverable"). Since 2.0, it seems the devices prompt for a random pin to be entered when connecting to each other for the first time. I've tried some Bluetooth projects, but none seem to work as the underlying Bluetooth Adapter code always kicks in. Is there any way around this? Thanks.

  Hi, I'm making a game where when a card is touched, it grows so that it is focused, and when you 'let go', it goes back to its original size and place. This seems pretty standard, however, when I add cards and move the hand around to accommodate different numbers of cards, touching the card makes it go to its original place, and not to the new place.   I'm trying to make a test for checking whether a sys.argv input matches the regex for an IP address...
