• Jquery: Preload an image on request with a callback function?

  Hey, I'm helping out a friend with a website he's developing and we are having trouble with preloading images on request. Basically, when the user clicks on a thumbnail of the product a <div> slides down that includes a scrolling carrousel of large images. In total there are about 20MB of images that could be loaded in (if you did them all) so preloading them on the page load would not be an option. Is there a way that we could call a javascript function that begins to preload about 4 images and then when it's done it has a callback function? Thanks! P.S. We are using jQuery on the page...

  Hi, I have been working in Oracle iStore from past 4 months and i have been managing the application without any IDE (basically doing all the chores on notepad only because application has been designed poorly and no IDE can support it). Since the coding is done on simple notepad files it is very hard to find out the bugs in the application. I am facing a problem that i have not idea which jsp page redirect the control to which jsp page. For instance, there are two jsp pages A.jsp and other is B.jsp. Now the browser is currently displaying A.jsp. When the user click on submit button (available on A.jsp) the form submits and redirects the control to B.jsp. Now my problem is that i know i am coming on B.jsp but, i don't know that A.jsp is redirecting the control to B.jsp. Is there an method available in Servlet API which tells Which jsp is redirecting the control to B.jsp? • Has glassfish 2.1.1 a bug handling http request and handle them twice?

  I'm using glassfish 2.1.1. I've watched a mysterious http/webservice-call handling. It seams an http request is handled by two different threads. After http basic authentication the first thread is faster. Persisting some data end, but writing response fails in glassfish internal. The second thread fails, because it tries to persist identical data and there are (unique) constrain failures. The response (the failure) of second thread was delivered to client. I don't won't discuss the behavior with the unique constrain failure. I've improve the webservice, so it can handle this better, because it could be happen anytime, that the client send the ws call a second time. But I think, glassfish 2.1.1 has an bug handling http request. Is there any known issue? Have I done an mistake? • Tomcat 5.5, Is there a max upload speed per request?

  I am having an issue when uploading files to tomcat. It seems that tomcat (or something else?) will not handle the upload as fast as I can send it. When uploading multiple files concurrently I can max out my local connection upload speed (2.1MB/s). However, when uploading only one file at a time, no matter how small or large the file, the upload will max out around 400KB/s. I have tried setting the appReadBufSize higher but it makes no difference. Is there something else that would be limiting the upload speed per request?   My application neeeds to access a third part web service. Of late, they have introduced a load balancer, which redirects to the server. Because of this the webservice gets a 302 - Redirect error as response. In the SOAPUI, I was able to enable a property called "Follow Redirect", and because of this service followed the redirect and served by the server.   Perhaps it's a syntax error, but I never assume that. • How to get "paster request" to use config host value instead of localhost?

  I'm trying to access my pylons application via cron job to send notifications to my users. The way I'm doing this is by running the application using something like: paster request myconfig.ini /maintenance/do In the actual controller I check for the "paste.command_request" to block public access. Everything works but the only problem is that within the notifications that I send to my users there is a link to their profile and the host is "localhost" which should instead be the domain name of the application. When the notifications are sent from within the served application (say, a user modifies their settings on the site) the notifications have the correct url. I am using mako to render my email tamplates and within the template I am using the "pylons.url" method with "qualified" set to "True". Am I missing something here? Thanks in advance.

What I'm trying to do is start off the continuation (via .suspend()), and then hand the continuation off to some other object that will compose the response, which works fine. But Jetty keeps redispatching the response (with isInitial = false) to the servlet, and I don't want or need that, because the response is being dealt with by some other object. So, I'd like to find a way to explicitly not redispatch the request on timeout or expire, because I'm using an event-driven series of callbacks to actually produce the response.

So far I have the following working, as the user traverse the website clicking on links, posting forms etc I capture the webpage and the data being send to the server to request the next page.   When you enable "export" from Displaytag, the tag code gives you links with special magic parameters that the tag recognizes as indicators that the table contents should be exported (as CSV, Excel, whatever). Well I'm interested in detecting the media type so that (for example) I can exclude columns that make no sense in an export (embedded action buttons, for one thing, or checkboxes for row selection). I suppose I could write a table decorator and use that to stick the media type on the request, but it'd be nice to avoid that if the tag already does it. The documentation is not clear on the subject; I guess I can start digging through the source code too.

The servlet create an attribute and save to HttpSession using (request.getSession(true)).setAttribute(name, value); Then at some event, applet will access another servlet. This servlet will try to retrieve the Attribute saved to Session previously. However, everytime, the attirbute returned is null as the new session is created instead.   (Assuming a WCF method called "MyFunction") Currently, to support canceling a WCF request, I'm using the BeginMyFunction/EndMyFunction methods generated by svcutil (and handling an isCanceled flag when dispatching the results to the main thread). I'd like to use the MyFunctionAsync method (and hooking into MyFunctionAsyncCompleted event instead) for async calls instead of Begin/End. What is the best/supported way to handle canceling WCF requests if using MyFunctionAsyncCompleted, and still ensuring that the event doesn't get fired on a page that's no longer loaded (i.e. page navigation within a frame). But I still don't understand why we need to utilize different HTTP requests: DELETE/PUT/POST/GET in order to build nice API Wouldn't it be a lot simpler to pass all information in request parameters and have a SINGLE ENTRY-POINT for your api?: GET www.example.com/api?id=1&method=delete&returnformat=JSON GET www.example.com/api?id=1&method=delete&returnformat=XML or POST www.example.com/api {post data: id=1&method=delete&returnformat=JSON} POST www.example.com/api {post data: id=1&method=delete&returnformat=XML} and then - we can handle all methods and data internally without the need for hundreds of urls... how would you call this type of API - It's not REST apparently, it's not SOAP. then - what is it? UPDATE I'm not proposing any new standards here. I merely asking a question in order to better understand why web services work the way they work.

• ASP.Net: HTTP 400 Bad Request error when trying to process http://localhost:5957/http://yahoo.com

  I'm trying to create something similar to the diggbar : http://digg.com/http://cnn.com I'm using Visual Studio 2010 and Asp Development server. However, I can't get the ASP dev server to handle the request because it contains "http:" in the path. I've tried to create an HTTPModule to rewrite the URL in the BeginRequest , but the event handler doesn't get called when the url is http://localhost:5957/http://yahoo.com. The event handler does get called if the url is http://localhost:5957/http/yahoo.com To summarize http://localhost:5957/http/yahoo.com works http://localhost:5957/http//yahoo.com does not work http://localhost:5957/http://yahoo.com does not work http://localhost:5957/http:/yahoo.com does not work Any ideas?
