  • How to create project specific respository post-commit actions

    Presently, we've got several main projects each in their own repository. We will have to version-control up to a dozen additional projects. VisualSVN recommends to create 1 respository for our company and then vc all projects inside that. It's a good practice to create one repository for the entire company or department and store all your projects in this repository. Creating separate repository for each project is not a good idea because in that case you will not be able to perform Subversion operations like copy, diff and merge cross-project. VisualSvn.com Currently we're using post-commit hooks to update the testing server with the latest commit and do other project specific actions (such as emailing certain people for one project but not for others) depending on which project has been committed. As post-commit runs for the whole repository, is this still possible in such a situation? How would I go about decerning which project has changes? filter folder structure?

  • Trouble implementing Singleton pattern in Tomcat web application due to Class Loader

    I'm trying to implement a Singleton in Tomcat 6.24 on Linux with x86_64 OpenJDK 1.6. My application is just a bunch of JSPs and some static content and the JSPs make calls to my Java code. I finally figured out if I exported my code as a jar and put it in $CATALINA_HOME/lib then there was only one instance, but this is not an elegant solution. I've been googling for hours, but I haven't come up with anything yet. I'm wondering if there is some other solution. Currently I'm not precompling my JSPs, could this be part of the problem? Could I write a servlet to ensure the singleton is created? If so how do I do that?

Awhile back, I discovered that to change the opacity of an image, I have to use a different API, depending on whether the page is viewed in Firefox or IE. Firefox: img.style.opacity = [value 0 to 1]; IE: img.style.filter="progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(opacity= [value 0 to 100] )"; So, currently, I use <script LANGUAGE="JScript"> for code that is meant for IE. This was suggested in the Mozilla docs. The problem: Chrome thinks my <script LANGUAGE="JScript"> code is valid, when it is not. How to make Chrome ignore the code inside <script LANGUAGE="JScript"> ? Or how to make my opacity code cross-browser?

    Hi, iPhone/objC question: How do I go about creating a custom keyboard/keypad that will show up when some one taps on a UITextField? I would like to display a keypad with a, b, c, 1, 2, 3 and an enter button, nothing else. The keypad should work and behave like the standard keyboard does (in behavior) but it will definitely look different. I can't find any example and the best I've found is to filter characters with existing keyboard which is an unacceptable solution. Thanks in advance, Hiren.

    There is a web service running on tomcat on a server. It is built on Java Servlet. It is listening others to call itself on a SSL enabled http port. so its web service adreess looks like: https://172.29.12.12/axis/services/XYZClient?wsdl On the other hand I want to connect the web service above from a windows application which is built on .NET frame work. Finally, when I want to connect the web service from my computer; I get some specific erros; Firstly I get; Proxy authentication error; then I added some new line to my code; Dim cr As System.Net.NetworkCredential = New System.Net.NetworkCredential("xname", "xsurname", "xdomainname") Dim myProxy As New WebProxy("http://mar.xxxyyy.com", True) myProxy.Credentials = cr Secondly, after this modifications It says that bad request. I did not get over this error. Moreover I did try to connect the web server on the same computer. I copied my executable program to the computer where the web service runs. The error was like; The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for SSL/TLS secure channel PS: When I try to connect to web service by using Internet Explorer; I see firstly some warnings about accepting an unknown certificate and I click take me to web service an I get there clearly.     My login page contains two forms: one for logging in and one for signing up. It works fine with GET, but than there is password in URL, so it's not the right solution :) Similar problem has been posted to community.jboss.org, but with no response: http://community.jboss.org/message/7150#7150. I'm using JBoss 4.3eap. Any help?

    So I have several large projects that use up to 8 different external repos, all specified in settings.xml rather than in poms. A lot of our internal dependencies are snapshots, so this obviously causes a lot of checking for updates across several external repos, when they are all in our internal repo. So my question is, is there a way to setup a profile/filter or anything similar where I can ensure that an update will only be checked for in a specific repo(s)? This is all in the spirit of better/quicker builds. Thanks!

  • Server returns 500 error only when called by Java client using urlConnection/httpUrlConnection

    Hi - I'm having a very strange problem. I'm trying to call a servlet (JSP) with an HTTP GET and a few parameters (http://mydomain.com/method?param1=test&param2=123). If I call it from the browser or via WGET in a bash session, it works fine. However, when I make the exact same call in a Java client using urlConnection or httpURLConnection, the server returns a 500 error. I've tried everything I have found online including: urlConn.setRequestProperty("Accept-Language", "en-us,en;q=0.5"); Nothing I've tried, however, has worked. Unfortunately, I don't have access to the server I'm calling so I can't see the logs.     How should one handle the situation where you may need to filter by a group of users. Here is the scenario. I have an administrator role in my company. I should be able to see all the data belonging to me plus all the other users who I have control over. A plain old user however should only be able to access their own data. If you are writing regular sql statements then you can have a security table with every user and who they have access too but i'm not sure how to handle this situation in the OO and ORM world. Any one dealt with this scenario in a web application using an ORM? Would love to hear your thoughts!

  • how to deal with a static analyzer output

    We have started using a static analyzer (Coverity) on our code base. We were promptly stupefied by the sheer amount of warnings we received (its in the hundreds of thousands) , it will take the entire team a few mounts to clear them all (obliviously impossible). the options we discussed so far are 1) hire a contractor to sort out the warning and fix them - he drawback: we will probably need very experiences people to do all these modifications, and no contractor will have required understanding of the code. 2) filter out the warning and deal only with the dangerous ones - the problem here is that our static analysis output will always be cluttered by warning making it difficult for us to isolate problems. also the filtering of the warning is also a major effort. either way, bringing our code to a state when the static analyzer can be a useful tool for us seems a monumental task. so how is it possible to work with the static analyzer without braining current development efforts into a complete stand still?

    ASP.NET MVC has good support for role-based security, but the usage of strings as role names is maddening, simply because they cannot be strongly-typed as enumerations. For example, I have an "Admin" role in my app. The "Admin" string will now exist in the Authorize attribute of my action, in my master page (for hiding a tab), in my database (for defining the roles available to each user), and any other place in my code or view files where I need to perform special logic for admin or non-admin users. Is there a better solution, short of writing my own authorization attribute and filter, that would perhaps deal with a collection of enumeration values?

    I have a flex project, in one of the screen of my UI, I create a HTTP service that call a "doGet" J2EE servlet through the GET method; and I bind the service call to a button. The service print log to system.out so I know when it is run. The problem I have is, when I click said button the first time, the servlets do what it is supposed to do, and print the stack to system.out, but if I click another time, nothing happens. Any idea what might be the cause ?   • What's the best way to match a query to a set of keywords?

    Pretty much what you would assume Google does. Advertisers come in and big on keywords, lets say "ipod", "ipod nano", "ipod 60GB", "used ipod", etc. Then we have a query, "I want to buy an ipod nano" or "best place to buy used ipods" what kind of algorithms and systems are used to match those queries to the keyword set. I would imagine that some of those keyword sets are huge, 100k keywords made up of one or more actual words. on top of that queries can be 1-n words as well. Any thoughts, links to wikipedia I can start reading? From what I know already I would use some stemmed hash in disk(CDB?) and a bloom filter to check to see if I should even go to disk.

  • How can I enable/disable network connection options programmatically

    When I open the properties on a network connnection on windows, I see this dialog: In this dialog, in the check-listbox I can enable or disable options like "File or printer sharing", "client for microsoft networks" or network filter drivers. My question is: How can I enable/disable these options programatically? I didn't find anything that looks like this in the WMI documentation and I couldn't find any other Win32 API for this. I would prefer a C Win32 API or WMI interface, but a solution using any programming language is welcome. The question is language-agnostic.

    Hello, i have a GridView bound to a DataView. Some columns in the DataView's table are foreignkeys to related tables(f.e. Customer). I want to enable sorting for these columns too, but all i can do is sorting the foreignkey(fiCustomer) and not the CustomerName. I have tried this without success(" Cannot find column ERP_Customer.CustomerName "): <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Customer" SortExpression="ERP_Customer.CustomerName" > A tried also the DataViewManager, but i've a problem to detect the table to sort: Dim viewManager As New DataViewManager(Me.dsERP) viewManager.DataViewSettings(dsERP.ERP_Charge).RowFilter = filter viewManager.DataViewSettings(dsERP.ERP_Charge).Sort = sort 'sort is the GridView's SortExpression Me.GrdCharge.DataSource = viewManager.CreateDataView(dsERP.ERP_Charge) I have to apply the sort on a distinct table of the DataViewManager, but this table would differ on the related tables.
