• Solr adding document cycle & wait on response issue

  I am trying to send http post request to Solr for adding 50000 documents (all individual request one after another in while loop). I am using DefaultHttpClient in java to connect to Solr and when I use execute method on my HttpPost Solr takes 3 to 4 ms to response. I have commit=false, autoCommit=false, autoSoftCommit=false. My question is why it takes that much time to response and why cycle it follows to add new document. Basically I want to send add request but do not want to commit to see how many request can Solr handle without doing any kind of commits(without having to do any disk access). My guess is with above parameter tuned off I should be hitting Solr about 10000 times every second, but my result is 300 times a second. I am generating random data to add in my code.

• Is it possible to remove all event handlers of a given element in javascript?

  Hi, I would like to remove ALL handlers for a given event type. Let's say I've added twice "onclick event" to a button and now I would like to return back to the original state where no event handler was set to the button. How can I do that? P.S.: I've found removeEventListener (non-IE)/detachEvent (IE) methods but the functions want me to pass as a parameter the function that handles the event which seems to me quite clumsy because I would have to store the functions somewhere. • Flexible string handling in Visual Studio 2008 C++

  I'm slowly starting to get the hang of the _T stuff in Visual Studio 2008 c++, but a few things still elude me. I can see the benefit of the flexibility, but if I can't get the basics soon, I think I'll go back to the standard way of doing this - much less confusing. The idea with the code below is that it scans the parameters for -d and then stores the text that follows that in the string variable fileDir. It also ignores any other parameters.   Greetings. I am trying to write a recursive function in Java that prints the numbers one through n. (n being the parameter that you send the function.)   I have an interface like so: public interface MyInterface<E extends Something1> { public void meth1(MyClass1<E> x); } and I have a subclass whose superclass implements the above interface: public class MyClass2<E extends Something1> extends Superclass{ public MyClass2(){ } public void meth1(MyClass1 x) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub } } superclass: public abstract class Superclass<E extends Something1> implements MyInterface{ MyClass1<E> x; protected E y; public Superclass(){ } } the problem is that the parameter for meth1() is supposed to be generic. If I do MyClass1 it doesn't like it and the only way I can get it to compile is by leaving out generic parameters- which feels wrong. What's going wrong?

  I have a function of type in_channel -> out_channel -> unit which will output something to an out_channel. Now I'd like to get its output as a string. Creating temporary files to write and read it back seems ugly, so how can I do that? Is there any other methods to create out_channel besides Pervasives.open_out family? Actually, this function implemented a repl. What I really need is to test it programmatically, so I'd like to first wrap it to a function of type string -> string. For creating the in_channel, it seems I can use Scanf.Scanning.from_string, but I don't know how to create the out_channel parameter.

As I don't want to reinvent the wheel, I'm wondering if there is any function in C++ STL or boost that can help to define this generic function easily? If not, do you think that this function can be useful? Notes The next of "aZ" should be "b". Even if the examples are strings, the function should work for any Sequence. The lexicographic order should be a template parameter of the function.

  I got this doubt while writing some code. Is 'bool' a basic datatype defined in the C++ standard or is it some sort of extension provided by the compiler ? I got this doubt because Win32 has 'BOOL' which is nothing but a typedef of long. Also what happens if I do something like this: int i = true; Is it "always" guaranteed that variable i will have value 1 or is it again depends on the compiler I am using ? Further for some Win32 APIs which accept BOOL as the parameter what happens if I pass bool variable?

  I simply want a stored procedure that calculates a unique id and inserts it. If it fails it just calls itself to regenerate said id. I have been looking for an example, but cant find one, and am not sure how I should get the sp to call itself, and set the appropriate output parameter. I would also appreciate someone pointing out how to test this sp also. • How to create a 2D map of room by a few images/movie frames ?

  I'd like to create a simple 2D map of a room by getting pictures (ceiling) of all directions (360° - e.g. movie frames), recognize the walls by edge detection, delete other unwanted objects, concat the images at the right position (cf. walls, panorama) and finally create the approximate 2D map (looking on it from above). Getting the scale would be another parameter, which might be useful. I have some own ideas at the moment, by using e.g. the Sobel algorithm, but it would be interesting if somebody out there knows some project or software (GPL,freeware prefered) doing this already, as I'm still looking for some examples, which might help me.   In VB.NET, it is entirely possible to pass an integer as a string parameter to a method without calling .ToString() - it's even possible to call .ToString without the ()'s. The code will run without a problem, VB will interpret the integer as a string without having been told to. In C#, these would cause compilation errors - you are required to call .ToString() and to call it correctly in that situation before it will compile. Is there a way to make the VB compilation process check for the same things as the C# compilation process? Would it be best practice in a mixed team to force this check?

  I'm a total newbie to doing any bash scripting, but I came up with a basic one to help automate the process of removing a number of folders as they become unneeded. #!/bin/bash rm -rf ~/myfolder1/$1/anotherfolder rm -rf ~/myfolder2/$1/yetanotherfolder rm -rf ~/myfolder3/$1/thisisafolder This is evoked like so: ./myscript.sh <{id-number}> The problem is that if you forget to type in the id-number (as I did just then), then it could potentially delete a lot of things that you really don't want deleted. Is there a way you can add any form of validation to the command line parameters? In my case, it'd be good to check that a) there is one parameter, b) it's numerical, and c) that folder exists; before continuing with the script.

  I'm writing a Python script to retrieve data from Flickr. For logging purposes, I have the following setup function: def init_log(logfile): format = '%(asctime)s - %(levelname)s - %(message)s' logging.basicConfig(filename=logfile,level=logging.DEBUG,format=format) I've tested this using the python shell and it works as expected, creating a file if one doesn't already exist. But calling it from within my program is where it stops working. The function is definitely being called, and the logfile parameter is working properly – logging.basicConfig just isn't creating any file. I'm not even getting any errors or warnings. My use of the Python Flickr API may be the culprit, but I doubt it. Any ideas?

The only way it works is: ClassA_1<int> a1 = (ClassA_1<int> a); but this break my template as it must always deal with int... How to properly cast a enum that is now a int, back into the enum?

  Im trying to perform DFS on a Minimum Spanning Tree which contains 26 nodes. Nodes are named 'A' to 'Z' and the tree is undirected. I have an empty function called DFS here that I am trying to write, which (i presume) takes in the tree (a 2D array) a startNode (randomly selected node 'M') and the endNode (randomly selected node 'Z'). The weights of connected nodes are identified in the 2D array parameter, but how do I actually get started visiting nodes? All that is required is to print each nodeName in the order of the DFS traversal. Do I need to create a Node_class for each node in the 2d array??

  In Access 2007 I have created a form with a textbox and a button. At the moment, when I press the button, I load a query with the textbox data passed as a parameter to the query criteria. I would like to change this so that all (manually input) options appear in a combobox (in place of the textbox). I would then like to pass the combobox text to a VBA module upon pressing the button.   I'm using a database link to execute a DELETE statement on another DB, but the DB link name doesn't conform to global naming, and this requirement cannot change. Also I have global_names set to false, and cannot be changed either. When I try to use these links however, I receive: ORA-02069: - global_names parameter must be set to TRUE for this operation Cause: A remote mapping of the statement is required but cannot be achieved because GLOBAL_NAMES should be set to TRUE for it to be achieved. - Action: Issue `ALTER SESSION SET GLOBAL_NAMES = TRUE` (if possible) What is the alternative action when setting global_names=true is not possible? The question, how do I render those icons - does itemset support nested trigger elements? If not, how do I go about achieving it (clicking on the item results in an action other than edit or delete, so cannot use that; can show delete/edit on the page shown when user clicks on the item, but want to save that one click if the user just wants to delete the item for example).
