• Should i use TabContainer for multiple pages?

  I'm considering if it is a good idea to use an ASP.Net TabContainer-Control in the way that every TabPanel contains content of a different page. For example: Next i want to implement in my application is the masterdata management. Normally i would create one aspx page for every masterdata-table (f.e. Customer - MD_Customer.aspx). Then i would add a link into my Menu to this page. Now i'm thinking of creating one aspx page for all(Masterdata.aspx) with a Tabcontainer and an UpdatePanel for every type of Masterdata. The link it the menu could have an additional MDType as URL-Parameter. My main concerns are related to performance(one "page" for every TabPanel currently means 7 "pages" in one) and maintainability because of increasing complexity. Is it a good approach or a bad idea?   Here is something I can do in java, take the results of a repeated parameter and pass it to another method: public void foo(String ... args){bar(args);} public void bar(String ... args){System.out.println("count="+args.length);} In scala it would look like this: def foo(args:String*) = bar(args) def bar(args:String*) = println("count="+args.length) But this won't compile, the bar signature expects a series of individual strings, and the args passed in is some non-string structure. For now I'm just passing around arrays. It would be very nice to use starred parameters. Is there some way to do it?

• gprof and execl() - is it possible?

  Background: I have a game (an old-school-esque MUD) which I've been attempting to profile with gprof. The documentation of gprof (on Linux 2.6) states that The profiled program must call "exit"(2) or return normally for the profiling information to be saved in the gmon.out file. Now, if I kill the server with the shutdown command, the application "returns normally" (i.e., main() returns) and I get a gmon.out to analyze. However, it's far more common to reboot the server. The reboot command does the following: Writes usernames and socket FD numbers to disc. Makes a call to execl(). The new process looks for the stored data, picks up the FDs, and moves on. I see the following error on the command line, as the whole process fails: Profiling timer expired ./program Question: Is it possible to get a gmon.out file from the execl()-calling process? Perhaps some environmental parameter to execl(), or else perhaps a different, gprof-friendly, system call to achieve the same effect (beginning a new process while preserving file descriptors)?

• Unity 2.0. How to throw ResolutionFailedException

  Hello, I have my app, using functionality that is based on unity application block. Sometimes I need to throw ResolutionFailedException manually. In v1.2 constructor of ResolutionFailedException had three parameters - typerequested, namerequested and exception. In v2.0 fourth parameter was added - buildercontext. I'm not creating it manually, so I have no reference to it and no idea where I can get it. Roughly speaking, I'm only overriding Resolve method in particular way and I'm not interfere in standard mechanism of policies, strategies and so on. Could anyone help?

• Javascript - Function call will not enter function body

  I have a function acting as a constructor that, when called, gets as far as the function definition in the debugger, but never to the function body. Is there a common reason this may happen that I am overlooking? Example code below: myconstructor.js function MyConstructor(optionalParam) { //this breakpoint gets hit var newobj = {}; //breakpoint never hit //code to check for null parameter //other code }; main.js var myConstructor = new MyConstructor(); There must be something I have overlooked, but I can't see what that is. • Reading in a file - Warning Message in R

  I have a file that has 22268 rows BY 2521 columns. When I try to read in the file using this line of code: file <- read.table(textfile, skip=2, header=TRUE, sep="\t", fill=TRUE, blank.lines.skip=FALSE) I get the following error: Warning message: In scan(file, what, nmax, sep, dec, quote, skip, nlines, na.strings, : number of items read is not a multiple of the number of columns I also used this command to see what rows had an incorrect number of columns: x <-count.fields("train.gct", sep="\t", skip=2) which(x != 2521) and got back a list of about 20 rows that were incorrect. Is there a way to fill these rows with NA values? I thought that is what the "fill" parameter does in the read.table function, but it doesn't appear so. Any help would be greatly appreciated.   I have a problem with VB and Moq. I need to call a verify on a Sub. Like so: logger.Verify(Function(x) x.Log, Times.AtLeastOnce) And my logger looks like this: Public Interface ILogger Sub Log() End Interface But with VB this is not possible, because the Log method is a Sub, and thereby does not produce a value. I don't want to change the method to be a function. Whats the cleanest way of working around this limitation and is there any way to wrap the Sub as a Function like the below? logger.Verify(Function(x) ToFunc(AddressOf x.Log)) I have tried this, but i get: Lambda Parameter not in scope

• How to set a predefined value in a form in Rails

  So I just got started in Rails, and I'm trying to create an Object (a book_loan in my case) with a Form. The thing is that I get to this form by clicking on a book, so I pass the book_id as a parameter, like localhost:3000/loans/new?id=1. Now I don't want the user to be able to set the book id field in the form, since I already know the id. So my question is how to set the value in the form. I have been trying things like: <% form_for(@loan) do |f| %> <%= f.error_messages %> ... <%= @loan.book_id = params[:id] %> <%= f.submit 'Create' %> <% end %> without any success. Does anybody have a hint for me?

• Using Java method to display HTML code

  Hey folks, ok so this is my problem, I need to display HTML code in a jsp, which wouldn't be a problem, except a requirement for this project is that we place all the code in a public class file and have seperate methods for each chunk(header, sidebar footer, etc). Now here's where i'm confused: "Your method should take the PrintWriter as a parameter to print out each line of HTML, and should have a return type of void" What does that mean? How do I pass the PrintWriter into a method? Does this make sense to anyone?

Note: Other HTTP request methods, such as PUT and DELETE, can also be used here, but they are not supported by all browsers. So... Does that mean that PUT and DELETE won't work if the browser does not support it, or just that PUT and DELETE can not be done natively by the user in the browser? The business logic: the first Monday of the year is first day of the biweekly period. • How to implement message passing in GNUradio?

  I need to implement message passing, my idea is to make some sort of message source (I inherit from public gr_sync_block) that works as a controller for another block (it has to send a message each 6 minutes). I read that is necessary to inherit from gnuradio::block -and by the way, installing grextras is mandatory-. In the .h file I added the #include and inherited from block"class JDFM_API jdfm_control : public gr_sync_block, public gnuradio::block". I know that I have redefine some things like the gnuradio::block constructor but I dont know what msg_signature is, I also don't get the relation between block's parameters and work parameter, the last thing that I am not sure is if I still can use gnuradio-companion if I create a block like this. I haven't been able to find a simple example of messages implementation. If anyone can guide me or show me an example, it would be awesome. Thanks in advance.

  I need to select records say 2000 from a table with a matching timestamp from c# .net code. Eg: SELECT * FROM ITEMDATA_TABLE WHERE ITEMNAME='Item1' and TimeStamp='2010-04-26 17:15:05.667' The above query has to execute for 2000 items more for the same timestamp. for this we can use SELECT * FROM ITEMDATA_TABLE WHERE ITEMNAME in ('Item1','Item2','Item3','Item4',......) AND TimeStamp='2010-04-26 17:15:05.667' from SQL Server Management Studio. I have tried appending all Item names to one string variable and giving it as a parameter to the stored procedure,but it resulted into a wrong concatenation. How can I do this as a stored procedure executing from the .net code? Can anyone suggest me/correct me in doing this? Thanks & Regards Padma
