  • Microsoft Dynamics AX - Resources for new developers

    - by Filip Ekberg
I am trying to find some good resources that will help me understand how to use the .NET Business Connector and without digging too deep into X++ and those other AX-specific things. First of all I want a bit more knowledge regarding the very AX usage basics and after that I want to head on to the AX for .NET developers. So, suggestions on books and resources for this?

  • ~saas license manager

    - by Steven
Hi all, We're developing a saas app, which is almost finished. Being in the final stages we're wondering how we are going to charge customers for using our app, how we will enforce they will not pass on their logins and so on. Does anyone know a ready-made solution? We do have a budget for this. rough criteria: - enforcing multiple payment/licensing options (trial - license with grace periods, on demand, pay per use, etc) - integration with payment providers - tracking/preventing unauthorised usage - payment/license plans adjustable on a per customer(group) basis

  • Is there a way that WCF service can know which machine the call comes from?

    - by erxuan
Hi, I have a WCF service and without changing any code on the client side, is there a way that I can know the detail information of the caller, such as the MachineName, and ApplicationName? Basically, I cannot change the client code to pass those pieces of information over. I tried to use System.Web.HttpContext on the server side to track this information, but HttpContext.Current is NULL. I guess that is not the proper usage of it. Any suggestion? Thanks Sarah

  • SQL Pronunciation

    - by Pascal Paradis
I have a question about the pronunciation of the SQL word. In my native language (French) we used to say it like spell each letters. I've been listening to the stackoverflow podcast today. And I noticed the usage of the word sequel to describe SQL. My question is what is the common or correct pronunciation of SQL in english. Is it a matter of taste?

  • linq2sql: singleton or using, best practices

    - by zerkms
what is the preferred practice when linq2sql using (in asp.net mvc applications): to create "singleton" for DataContext like: partial class db { static db _db = new db(global::data.Properties.Settings.Default.nanocrmConnectionString, new AttributeMappingSource()); public static db GetInstance() { return _db; } } or to retrieve new instance when it needed within using: using (db _db = new db()) { ... } the usage of using brings some limitations on code. so I prefer to use singleton one. is it weird practice?

  • spymemcached (Java Memcached Client)

    - by Java Guy
Is there a way to collect the memcached stats using this API (spymemcached)? I know there are tools like cacti to collect information on Memcached Server. But I would like to collect, say, memory usage by each item I have put into the server--the total no. of items in the same category, etc... more importantly, the bytes used by individual pieces.

  • is there in R any standard logging package?

    - by mariotomo
not only is googling R so terribly difficult, log4r has also been taken for Ruby! I am looking for the standard (if any) logging package for R. and some sample usage? I also don't see it in http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/ (late edit: it is now at its place on CRAN and there's a R-Forge page for it.)

  • Shut down windows service based on load

    - by JP
Hello, I was wondering if there are any free / open source solutions that will start and stop a windows service based on load? I have some pubsub subscriber services that do background work which is not critical. Ideally i would like tot be able to automate things so that these services could start if memory/cpu/disk i/o was under a certain threshold and stop gracefully if that threshold was met. Do you know of any solutions? Thanks JP

  • Good JavaScript Books?

    - by jollyjerry
I find myself using Javascript day to day without a solid understanding of the language. There are some great writeups out there about using specific features of the language, but I'd like a distilled, printed book reference about the language itself. Please list good books that discuss the JavaScript language; not frameworks, usage and quirks.

  • T-Mobile G1 (MSM7200) GPU Memory

    - by Reflog
Hello. I'm trying to find some information regarding the available GPU (for OpenGL) memory on the T-Mobile G1. This phone has a MSM7200 Qualcomm chip inside with ATI Imageon GPU. Unfortunately I am not able to dig any info regarding the specifics of GPU memory usage. How much memory is available in total for the textures? Is the memory shared with the CPU memory? Thanks in advance, Eli

  • Difference between Breadth First Search, and Iterative deepening

    - by theraven
I understand BFS, and DFS, but for the life of me cannot figure out the difference between iterative deepening and BFS. Apparently Iterative deepening has the same memory usage as DFS, but I am unable to see how this is possible, as it just keeps expanding like BFS. If anyone can clarify that would be awesome. tree to work on if required: A / \ B C / / \ D E F
