  • Setting TreeView.DataContext doesn't refresh the tree

    I have a List that I've bound to a TreeView. Setting TreeView.DataContext works - everything displays correctly. I then change the list (add an item to it) and set TreeView.DataContext again (to the same value) but the tree does not refresh with the new items. How do I get the treeview to refresh? This is basically my code: public class xItemCollection : ObservableCollection<xItem> { } public class xItem : INotifyPropertyChanged { xItemCollection _Items; public xItem() { _Items = new xItemCollection(); } public xItemCollection Items {get{return _Items;}} } ... this.RootItem = new xItem(); treeView.DataContext = this; Adding items to the list works until the tree is rendered for the first time. After it is rendered, adding/removing items does not refresh the tree.

    I've tried checking other answers, but I'm still confused--especially after seeing W3schools HTML 5 reference. I thought HTML 4.01 was supposed to "allow" single-tags to just be <img> and <br>. Then XHTML came along with <img /> and <br /> (where someone said that the space is there for older browsers). Now I'm wondering how I'm supposed to format my code when practicing HTML 5. <!DOCTYPE HTML> Is it <br>, <br/> or <br />?

All my node elements are drawn on top of each other in the same position. Any suggestions on how to accomplish this?

  • Winforms: calling entry form function from a different class

    I'm kinda new to programming and got a question on what is a good practice. I created a class that represents a ball and it has a function Jump() that use 2 timers and get the ball up and down. I know that in Winforms you got to call Invalidate() every time you want to repaint the screen, or part of it. I didn't find a good way to do that, so I reference the form in my class, and called Invalidate() inside my ball class every time I need to repaint to ball movement.   • ContentControl + RenderTargetBitmap + empty image

    Im trying to create some chart images without ever displaying those charts on the screen. I'v been at this for quite a while and tried a lot of different things but nothing seems to work. The code works perfectly if I display the chart in a window first, but if I don't display it in a window, the bitmap is just white with a black border (no idea why). I have tried adding the chart to a border before rendering and giving the border a green borderBrush. In the bitmap, I see the green borderBrush then the black border and white background but no chart. I don't know where the black border is coming from as the chart is not contained in a black border. I have tried adding the chart to a window without calling window.Show() and again just the black boarder and white background. However if I call window.Show() the bitmap contains the chart. I have tried using a drawingVisual as explained here, same result.     Hi I have fully working project in .net 3.5SP1, with EF 1 ORM. I tried to upgrade to .net 4. No issue while upgrading... Then i ran the project and got a NullExecptionError, with no stack trace... and no way to debug.   • Am I immoral for using a variable name that differs from its type only by case?

    For instance, take this piece of code: var person = new Person(); or for you Pythonistas: person = Person() I'm told constantly how bad this is, but have yet to see an example of the immorality of these two lines of code. To me, person is a Person and trying to give it another name is a waste of time. I suppose in the days before syntax highlighting, this would have been a big deal. But these days, it's pretty easy to tell a type name apart from a variable name. Heck, it's even easy to see the difference here on SO. Or is there something I'm missing? If so, it would be helpful if you could provide an example of code that causes problems.

  • How can I enable Vista/Win 7 theming/style for a ToolTip control?

    In Windows Vista and Windows 7, ToolTips have a new visual style or theme, they are shiny grey metallic. How can I enable the new style for a ToolTip control? Some controls, like ListViews and ToolBars, use the new tooltips automatically, but other tooltips are rendered with the old yellow XP style. I've tried sending an TTM_SETWINDOWTHEME message but nothing happens and I'm not sure what string I am supposed to use for the visual style name. SetWindowTheme doesn't work either, I've used it successfully on ListViews and TreeViews to set the "Explorer" style (see http://www.danielmoth.com/Blog/TreeViewVista.aspx), but that doesn't seem to work on ToolTips. I'm using the plain win32 C API.

The path is binded to controls (for example - two ellipses) and when I drag one of them, the line is dynamically resized and moved to be pinned to both objects. And now I wand to add some text, that would fit to this line and follow it. Any recommendations how to do this?

    I have an Adorner in XAML that I'm using for ErrorValidation. Basically I have a grid that I want to display on two conditions (if the "AdornedElement" IsFocused or IsMouseOver). Below is a code snippet where I'm binding - successfully - to the IsFocused of the AdornedElement, but as you can tell that only solves 1/2 the conditions. Now I can't pass another binding into the converter, nor can I create a property that handles both (needs to be XAML only solution). <AdornedElementPlaceholder x:Name="errorAdorner" /> ... <Grid x:Name="ErrorDetails" Visibility="{Binding ElementName=errorAdorner, Path=AdornedElement.IsFocused, Converter={StaticResource BooleanToVisibilityConverter}}" /> ... What I want to do is use triggers to handle this, the only problem is I can't access the AdornedElement's properties on a trigger. Something like this ... <Trigger SourceName="errorAdorner" Property="AdornedElement.IsFocused" Value="True"> <Setter TargetName="ErrorDetails" Property="Visibility" Value="Visible" /> </Trigger> This would also help as part of what I want to do is trigger animations, rather than just setting the visibility. Any help would be great.

    I've started using the XmlnsDefinition attribute to tie together some CLR namespaces into a single xmlns for convenience in XAML. Unfortunately, it seems that this only works when using foreign assemblies. If I have a XAML file in the same assembly as the types that are in the namespace I'm referencing from XmlnsDefinition, then it says the type does not exist in the xmlns I am defining. Moving the type to a foreign assembly fixes the problem. Is there a way to use XmlnsDefinition on an assembly and have it be used from within that assembly via XAML?

  • Trouble binding command in grid menu item.

    I have a grid that's inside a usercontrol derived class called MediatedUserControl. I'm adding a context menu to let the user delete an item, but I've been unable to figure out how to bind the command to my command property. I'm using MVVM and my viewmodel implements a public ICommand property called DeleteSelectedItemCommand. However, when the view is displayed, I get the following message in the output window: System.Windows.Data Error: 4 : Cannot find source for binding with reference 'RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType='BRO.View.MediatedUserControl', AncestorLevel='1''. BindingExpression:Path=DataContext.DeleteSelectedItemCommand; DataItem=null; target element is 'BarButtonItem' (HashCode=6860584); target property is 'Command' (type 'ICommand') I feel like I generally have a good handle on bindings like this and can't figure out what it is I'm missing here.     I can't find XamlPad anywhere after I installed .NET 4.0 / Visual Studio 2010 and Windows 7 SDK - v7.1. I tried searching C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.1\bin and did a dir /s xamlpad.exe to see if the Windows Index service didn't get to that folder yet. And it's not under Start Menu - All Programs - Windows SDK v7.1 -- Tools. Where has it gone? Did MS deprecate it? Thanks
