• Clicking on MenuItem without clicking on the text

  I've got a Menu, and I want to click on the menu, but not on the text if you guys know what i mean. The MenuItem has a border, or something like this, but when I click on it it won't redirect to the page I want unless I click on text. Is it possible to click on the whole "Button" and redirect or do what is need to do? • Code Coverage tool for BlackBerry

  I'm looking for a code coverage tool that I can use with a BlackBerry application. I'm using J2ME-Unit for Unit Testing and I want to see how much of my code is being covered by my tests. I've tried using Cobertura for J2ME but after days of wrestling with it I failed to get any results from it. (I believe that the instrumentation is un-done by the RAPC compilation). And despite this message, the project seems to be dead. I've looked at JInjector but the project seems very incomplete. There is little (if any) documentation and although it claims to be able to work with BlackBerry projects, I haven't seen any places where it has been used for that purpose. I've played with the project quite a bit but to no avail. I've also tried the "Coverage" view in the BlackBerry JDE, even though I use Eclipse for development. The view stays permanently blank, regardless of clicking "Refresh" and running the application from the JDE. I've looked at most of the tools on this SO thread, but they won't work with J2ME/BlackBerry projects. Has anyone had any success with any code coverage tools on the BlackBerry? If so, what tools have you used? How have you used them? If anyone has managed to get JInjector or Cobertura for J2ME to work with a BlackBerry project, what did you have to do to get it working?

  I develop Rails based website, enjoying using partials for some common "components" Recently, i faced a problem, that states with CSS interference. Styles for one component (described in css) override styles for another components. For example, one component has ... <ul class="items"> ... and another component has it too. But that ul's has different meaning in these two components. On the other hand, i want to "inherit" some styles for one component from another.   I want start programming for android.. What I have: -Windows 7 -Eclipse Classic 4.2 -Downloaded all there required files - http://developer.android.com/sdk/installing/adding-packages.html -ADT Plugin I want install new ADT plugin.. at first I tried to download it from http://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse, I add it, but if i selected it there is only "pending.." and nothing has load..(maybe internet connection?I have selected Native connection in preferences after pending it wrotes: Unable to connect to repository http://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse/content.xml org.eclipse.equinox.p2.core.ProvidesException ) Thats why I download ADT plugin. So if I select downloaded ADT plugin - content of it load - developer tools and ndk plugin so I select all and click next. It loads and writes this: "Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be found. • UML diagrams that are actually pretty?

  I'm looking for a diagramming software that would produce good looking output. It doesn't need to support everything (or even much) from UML, is doesn't need to have code engineering functions or anything, it just needs to produce visually interesting output. Here is a couple of samples of products that I consider ugly / not good enough: Visio with default UML stencils (didn't find better looking ones), Enterprise Architect, Dia, ArgoUML and many other "professional" UML tools. A couple of visually compelling tools that I considered (but found issues with): Visual Studio class diagrams - just for .NET classes but the output is miles better than what UML tools typically produce NClass - similar to VS's class diagrams but I could not find the "pretty", blue skin anywhere yuml.me - very nice but lacking some advanced layout options. I have to say that I find their style almost ideal for high-level diagrams - they look sketchy which is good. Balsamiq - I think Joel used this for hginit.com and I liked it. However, it's not suited for creating software diagrams so I can imagine it would be quite a lot of work MS Word has actually quite a good graphics engine but I'd rather leave this as a choice of the last resort I'd be grateful for any good tips.

• Ensuring quality of your software and code

  When I usually write code I follow some guidelines to ensure that my code has a certain standard and I as any other developer try to ensure that my code and software is of quality. Try to focus on the programming and not the understanding of the domain or any other pre-programming steps. These are the following steps I live by: Writing unit tests Make it fail ( no code ) Make it Work ( working code ) Analysing abstraction Extracting methods Exteract interfaces Refactoring In addition to the above which is a part of refactoring, I also try to refactor the code with good tools such as ReSharper, CodeRush or others. The question; What is the next step? Commenting the code is trivial and shouldn't even have to be mentioned, but updated comments and xml-comments where it's needed / everywhere is something that I try to have. But all the above helps he ensure that other developers might understand my code, that the code has some sort of quality and follows naming standards. It does however not ensure any product quality. I am looking for tools for post-development quality ensurance, such as profilers and how one would use these tools to increase product quality.

• IE7 & 8 not fireing jQuery click events for elements appended inside a table

  I have an IE bug that I'm not sure how to fix. Using jQuery I'm dynamically moving a menu to appear on an element on mouseover. It works as expected in everything else. You can see the behaviour in a basic demo here. In the demo you can see two examples of the issue: The image behind the buttons should change on hover (done with a CSS :hover selector). It works on the first mouseover but then persists. The click event doesn’t fire – however with the dev tools you can manually call it and it is still subscribed. You can see (2) in IE8's dev tools: Open page in IE8 Open dev tools Select "Script" tab and "Console" sub-tab Type: $j('#testFloat div.ico:first').click() to manually call any subscribed events There will be an alert on the page This means that I'm not losing the event subscriptions, they're still there, IE's just not calling them when I click. Does anyone know why this bug occurs (other than just because of IE's venerable engine)? Is there a workaround? Could it be something that I'm doing wrong that just happens to work as expected in everything else?

• Is this feasbile with GIS?

  I'm just getting myself to familiarize with GIS but i like to know before hand if the following is feasible with current GIS apps/tools... I get the point for an address by geocoding. Easy part. Now if the point falls within a boundary (may be a city/county/state) then i need to get the data (any id/flag) associated with the boundary. Based on the id/flag i then apply some business logic. My question is... How do i define the boundary? What tools should i use for it? How can i store the boundary definition in database in order to check if the point falls within it? This has to be done in the back end and not in visual maps as we don't intend to show/use maps. How do i associate my custom data (id/flag) with the above boundary definition? Hope i'm having right assumption on capabilities of GIS. Most of examples what i see is around people trying to show maps with data which is exactly not what i'm looking for. Also please suggest me some tools/books on this.

• Wordpress paths issue

  I have set a crawler up in wordpress which grabs stocks data and writes to file which when a user enters a symbol/ticker the variable is read and if it matches the data of a previous crawl for that particular companies data will echo the text file on page, if no data is found the crawler then sets off grabs it and writes to file to save for the next time that symbol is used. The problem im having is that everything works groovey apart from one thing, when the content is written to file it saves it in the WP root and not inside a subfolder of the theme, basicaly this means that root becomes untidy very quickly and also should the theme be used on another site then its not practical as some important info is missing. I have tried bloginfo and absolute both return the same failure. • Ways to support manually executed tests? (that can be used on a Mac)

  Are there any tools that can be used on a Mac to support manually executed tests? I have a number of tests that I'm executing manually and which I'm currently documenting using merely a plain text file. "Tools" can be interpreted rather loosely here, anything that's a step up from the plain text file would be useful: a template for some suitable application, supporting AppleScript scripts, a web-based system, a full-blown application ... Some things that would be great to have better support for (see also the example below): Checking off each step while you're manually executing the test. Showing the next step(s) in a small window that is always kept in front of all other windows. Automatically updating the 'last tested' and 'using svn revision' info. Keeping a record of all previous testing rounds (not just the last one). ... Any suggestions for any such "tools" that can be used on a Mac? An example (faked) entry from the plain text file to give you a better idea of what I'm looking for: - Check that exported web pages render properly in Safari. Last tested: 2010-03-24 Using SVN revision: 1000 Steps: - Open a new document. - Add some items to the document. - Export the document to a web page "Test.html" in a new folder "Export Test" on the Desktop. - Open the web page in Safari, script: tell application "Finder" open file "Test.html" of folder "Export Test" of desktop end tell Expected results: - The web page should appear properly with all items shown. Clean up steps: - Remove the folder "Export Test" from the Desktop. ( Note: for those unaware, the snippet of AppleScript in the above can be executed from most text editing applications through the Services menu by selecting the snippet and using: the application menu Services Script Editor Run as AppleScript. This is quite useful to automate some steps for tests that are difficult to automate as a whole. )

• Visual Studio 2010 and CrystalReports

  I have a dll build with target framework 3.5 that manage reports; this dll use the version 10.5.3700.0 of CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine Now, I have created a new wpf application based on .NET framework 4.0 and I added the report dll reference to project. I had to install the Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 library (http://www.businessobjects.com/jump/xi/crvs2010/default.asp) to build the application without errors...now it builds success, but the report print don't work. It's generate an error when set datasource...the message is: Unknown Query Engine Error Error in File C:\DOCUME~1\oli15\IMPOST~1\Temp\MyReport {4E514D0E-FC2C-4440-9B3C-11D2CA74895A}.rpt: ... Source=Analysis Server ErrorCode=-2147482942 StackTrace: at CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.Controllers.DatabaseControllerClass.ReplaceConnection(Object oldConnection, Object newConnection, Object parameterFields, Object crDBOptionUseDefault) at CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Table.SetDataSource(Object val, Type type) at CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument.SetDataSourceInternal(Object val, Type type) I think that it use a different version reference for CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine, it's possible? • SSRS sum(distinct()) equivalent

  I am currently working with an SSRS 2008 report that returns a dataset similar to the following: Job# ClientId MoneyIn MoneyOut ------------------------------ 1 ABC123 10 25 1 ABC123 10 25 1 ABC123 5 25 2 XYZ123 25 50 2 XYZ123 25 50 3 XYZ123 15 15 Where MoneyOut should be equal to the total amount of MoneyIn for a job if the job has been balanced out correctly. The problem that I am running into is when displaying this in a tablix in SSRS I can return the correct MoneyOut value for a job by setting the field to =first(Fields!MoneyOut.Value) but I also need to sum the value of these by day and attempting to do =sum(first(Fields!MoneyOut.Value)) yields an error about nesting aggregate functions. I've also attempted to sum the value of the textboxes using something like =sum(ReportItems!MoneyOut1.Value) which yields an error that you can only use aggregates on report items in the header or footer. So my question is, is there some way to duplicate the functionality of distinct() in SSRS reports or is there some way to just total up the values of text fields that I am unaware of? • EPPlus - .xlsx is locked for editing by 'another user'

  I have searched through every possible answer on SO for a solution, but nothing has worked. I am basically creating an excel file from a database and sending the results to the response stream using EPPlus(OpenXML). The following code gives me an error when trying to open my generated excel sheet "[report].xlsx is locked for editing by 'another user'." It will open fine the first time, but the second time it's locked. • Insert Page/Column Break in iReport 2.0.2

  Hi, I am using iReport 2.0.2. I have a report with 4 subreports in a detail band. I need a page break after the 1st and 2nd subreport. I inserted a page break property in Master Report. When the 1st subreports goes beyond one page, it is not breaking a page in second page. If it is within the single page it breaks. I need to know, is the way of working is correct. • TFS webtest for SSRS reports issue

  I am creating webtests in TFS and trying to test reports execution in SSRS. When I record the initial process, it includes Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl.axd files. These files are what is causing the problem. When I remove the files, the report does not display, however if I keep the AXD files in it works fine. The problem with keeping the AXD files is the reportsession querystring variable that are included. If I run the report after a bit the reportsession has obviously changed. Any help is appreciated.

• SQL Reporting Services - Subreports Broken into multiple columns

  Hi, I inherited an SQL Reporting Services .rdl project from somebody and need help fixing some functionality. In each row of the report, there is a subreport. In order to save space the subreport is divided into 3. Such that in each row of the report, it splits the data of the subreport into 3 smaller tables. Right now, it fills these 3 subreports horizontally. (ie. if the result has 9 values, the first subtable will have 1, 4 & 7, the second subtable will have 2, 5 & 8, etc) Is there a way to have it fill the subtables vertically? (ie. the first subtable would have 1,2 & 3) Thanks!

• SSRS 2008 - How to hide the plus icon in a group visibility toggle cell

  I have a report that shows or hides columns in a group based on a header cell. SSRS makes this pretty easy and is kind enough to place a little plus/minus icon in the toggling cell. I want to HIDE this plus/minus icon when there is only one column of data in the subgroup, because it shows that one column by default so expanding the group doesn't do anything. This really only applies to one specific group, because all the others always have more than one column of data, so a way to hide only the icon for a specific group would be fine. JavaScript won't work (I don't think) because the client ID of the plus/minus image is generated by the report and changes with each generation. see this image for more clarity: http://imgur.com/vqaQA.png

  I am generating a PDF report using iText. The report is having four parts as - Project Info1 (A PDF Table of variable height) Project Info2 (A PDF Table of variable height) Requestor Info (A PDF Table of Fixed height) Location Info (A PDF Table of Fixed height) The top two information are of variable height and they can acquire certain pages. The other two are of fixed size which comes at last. I want to move the last (one or both) boxes to the next page if there is no space available to fit those boxes in current page. If space for one box is available then place one to the current page and move other box to the next table. Is there way to decide this?

• rsRenderingExtensionNotFound error using SSRS 2005

  Hi, I am trying to use the Sharp-shooter Silverlight report viewer control. This control has a server side component that renders the reports as XAML for displaying in the client side control. I have tried manually installing the rendering extension, according to the instructions on their website, and also the instructions on MSDN. I have basically copied the dll's into the reporting services bin folder and added the following line to rsreportserver.config file: <Extension Name="XAML" Type="PerpetuumSoft.ReportingService.XamlRendering.XamlRenderer,PerpetuumSoft.ReportingService.XamlRendering"/> I've also added a line into the rssrvpolicy.config file as specified on their site. After I made these changes I went into windows services and restarted the Reporting Services services but I get the following error when I try to run reports: rsRenderingExtensionNotFound: An attempt has been made to use a rendering extension that is not registered for this report server Is there anything else that I need to do to use a custom rendering extension within SSRS 2005?

• Visual Studio Crashes when using Crystal Reports Group Editor

  I have a crystal report in my Visual Studio 2008 ASP.NET project, and when I choose "Group Expert" from the Crystal Reports - Report menu, Visual Studio crashes / hangs and I have to use Task Manager to close the program. This happens no matter how many times I try, and oddly enough it seems to work fine on another computer with the same project. Any help at all in the right direction would be greatly appreciated as I am pulling my hair out trying to figure this out. I am using Visual Studio 2008 SP1, SQL Server 2005 Developer SP2, Windows Vista Enterprise SP1, and the version of Crystal Reports that came with the Visual Studio installation.

• Grep Crystal Reports (with Sub-reports)

  I need a way to quickly search a large number of Crystal reports (with sub-reports) for the names of several stored procedures. (Trying to find dependencies.) I'm running Windows XP and downloaded this grep program - http://www.wingrep.com/download.htm. So far, I'm not convinced that it's working. Does anyone know of a reliable way, other than opening each report and sub-report, to search Crystal reports for the existence of a file name? Thanks in advance for any tips.
