• Login box not shown on Ubuntu

  Hi, I've installed Ubuntu 10.04 (64bit) as a guest OS in VirtualBox, using Windows7 Professional (64bit) as host. After Ubuntu install, I did installed Xfce4 (sudo apt-get install xfce4). Logged in using a Xfce session, and when I logged out, I couldn't see the login box anymore, only the regular gnome background from login screen. Then I restarted the virtual machine, and now I'm not able to see the login box anymore, only the gnome background. Does someone knows how to solve this? Thanks in advance

  I am using nginx and i have two sites running: site1 = /1/access.log site2 = /2/access.log when a user get 404 images not found on site2 nginx writes to access.log of site1 & site2 reporting the not found error, i tried everything to get separated logs without luck, i want everything that happen on site1 logged on /1/access.log and everything that happens on site2 logged on /2/access.log any help ?

• Log requests in apache upon arrival

  Is it possible to log requests in the apache when they arrive not when they have been processed? We have a pretty big web based application and the way it's currently logged is sometimes confusing to read, because each request with it's subrequests is logged "upside down", because apache logs the request after it has been processed, so the initial request is the last entry for this "query". We're wondering if there is a chance to log on arrival?!

• Why would Gwibber feeds be stale?

  After I installed Ubuntu 10.4, I tried out Gwibber and liked it very much. Next time I logged in, I had the same messages that were there when I logged off, and nothing I did (e.g. unsubscribing/re-subsribing) helped. Anyone know what I could be doing wrong?

  Hello, i got a server running windows server 2008, and i got a user which everyone can connect to via Remote desktop! when 2 users a are logged to the user, it's fine. but when the 3 is logged on, it says one of the other 2 should loggoff! my question is, how i disable the limitation of concurrent logons to a single users?   I have setup Postfix and Dovecot on an Ubuntu box following the instructions http://www.exratione.com/2012/05/a-mailserver-on-ubuntu-1204-postfix-dovecot-mysql/ I can see that email is being delivered to and accepted by the server, but the email is not available for retrieval via POP3. What could be missing in my configuraton? It seems that email is not being properly handed off to Dovecot.   Ok probably a bit of an odd question, but is there a way to enable "finger" like functionality on a Windows network? we'd basically like the ability to find out where a user is logged in on a network and possibly which users are logged onto a workstation if possible. We're currently on AD2003 functional level, with the intent of going to AD2008 very soon, so compatibility in that arena is preferable.

  I've noticed that when running a script that connects to a number of our servers (to essentially run batch commands) that the commands aren't logged in the user's .sh_history or .bash_history files. Is there a place where this is logged (assuming the script itself isn't doing the logging and I'm not tee'ing the output anywhere)? • How would I prevent users from logging in a PC while software is installing?

  So I currently am looking for a solution to keeping users logged out while software is installing or activating a pop-up message that cannot be moved, closed, and is always on top, because sometimes when we deploy software to users (via SCCM), the parameters of the install require the user to be logged out for the duration of the installation. I've looked at trying to customize the group policy for account lockout but with no luck. Anyone know of any programs or scripts that do this? Thank you!

  I've a webapp that apparently uses the standard java.util.Logging (no log4j or other stuff). Everything is logged under "com.bzsearchj.". I'm assuming I can configure Tomcat 6, via $CATALINA_HOME/conf/logging.properties to have it log everything under com.bzsearcj. to its own file, bonus if I can make it rotate daily - right now everything gets logged to the catalina-xxx.log What do I put in the conf/logging.properties to do this ?

  In this question I asked how to POST to a php file form a vb.net app: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2615335/post-to-webpage-in-vb-net-win-forms-desktop-not-asp-net So now I've logged in the user user by posting their username and password to the php file, the php file then does security/checks they exist/etc and if both username and password are correct is stores the user ID in a session variable. Now if the vb.net app tries to download data off a page which needs the user to logged in, it checks this by doing: if (!isset($_SESSION['uid'])) { header("Location: index.php"); } However after having logged correctly in the app the session variable is not set. How does session work with a vb.net app like this? When the user logs in successfully should I download the user id and keep it in the vb.net app and then post it to each page that requires authentication?

• ELMAH with IIS6.0 and SQL Server 2005

  On production I have ELMAH configured so that the errors are logged into a SQL Server 2005 database created specially for ELMAH. The sites run on IIS6.0 web server. ELMAH is able to send emails for the errors, but nothing is getting logged into the SQL Server database. The connection is a trusted connection and I have <section name="errorLog" requirePermission="false" type="Elmah.ErrorLogSectionHandler, Elmah"/> in section group <errorLog type="Elmah.SqlErrorLog, Elmah" connectionStringName="Elmah.Sql" applicationName="VBCPortal"/> under elmah <add name="Elmah.Sql" connectionString="Data Source=(local);Initial Catalog=ELMAH;Trusted_Connection=True" /> in connectionStrings in my web.config file. Any idea why the errors are not getting logged into the database?

• PHP Session Cookies fail with users changing IP

  Hello, I have a login script for a small application that works by storing session cookies and checking them on each page to make sure the user is logged in. One of the two users who uses the system keeps getting logged out randomly. This appears to be down to the session cookie that shows then authenticated no longer being present. After a lot of investigation the only thing I can see that is different about this user is that their IP address is changing (today it was changing every hour (their on Sky)). The only thing is the change of IP address has happened 5 times this morning and only once has the user been logged off. Has anyone had a similar issue? Are session cookies in someway tied to IP addresses? Any help or links much appreciated. Thanks C

'tbl_Incidents containts a generated list of total incidents by site/date (monthly) 'If a site doesnt have any incidents that month it wont be listed. The problem I'm having is that a site doesnt have any Incidents this month and as such i get a NULL value returned for that site when i run this sproc, but i need to have a zero/0 returned to be used within a chart in SSRS. I've tried the using coalesce and isnull to no avail. SELECT COALESCE(SUM(c.Logged,0)) SELECT SUM(ISNULL(c.Logged,0)) Is there a way to get this formatted correctly? Cheers, Lee
