• Resetting Google's data for the website

  I own a domain which I was using for experimenting with different platforms and content management systems. I really did not care about seo while I was building the website so I guess my website has quite a 'bad reputation' for Google search. My website is almost finished and I am planning to launch it soon but would like to tell Google to forget everything it nows about it and start everything over. What's the correct way for doing it? I found Requesting reconsideration of site but I'm not sure if that's the best way to do it. Any advice?

• How to safely collect bank account from website?

  I want to collect bank account information from my customers on my website. I'd like to do that trough a form, then I will download it to a PC, print it, and then delete it from the website. Or eventually, send it somewhere external right after the user submitted the form so it never gets stored on the website. The goal is to recieve the payment information without having to ask the customer to print, fill manually, and send it over fax. And accomplish this without having to use an external payment gateway. • Uploading a non-finished website

  I have a pretty basic question. I developed a neet little website wich I'm ready to upload, but still needs a bit of work. The designer needs the html to do his work so the website needs to be uploaded. Besides that, I have to correct a couple details, do the friendly-urls, etc. What's the best way to set up the webpage in the definitive hosting with the defintive domain, blocking it to any unknown users and without affecting affecting SEO and those kind of things. If I were to just upload it, the non-definitive website might be crawled by a SE-bot. Thanks!

• Multiple domain names with pages linking to one website

  Hello, I work for a company who have been redesigning their company website. I have been asked to register loads of domain names that contain the keywords that they want to use on the original site. Each of these domain names will contain a one page website with a destription of what the company offers and a link saying something along the lines of 'click here for more infmormation' which then takes you to the main site. The idea being the main site will then be recieving a lot of inbound links and hopefully rise in the google rankings, not to mention bring in more customers who have come to the site from all the other domain names who wouldn't have normally got to the website because it wasn't ranked on the first page. Is this a good idea or will Google see this as spam and penalise the main site for having loads of links to it from one page websites hosted on the same nameserver? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mark.

• Google search does not show sub-pages from my website

  My website appears in Google search, but only the first page. Of course I have sub-pages linked from the first page, but the sub-pages do not show in Google search. Not in Yahoo, not in Bing. What should I do? It has been three years that sub-pages do not show. (I tried searching site:mydomain.com and pressed 'repeat the search with the omitted results included' link) What would you suspect the reason? My website addresses were like xxx.php?yy=zzz etc, etc, so I changed it to /yy/zzz using mod_rewrite. I thought it might be (X)HTML standard violations, so now I changed it. I hope Google will soon have my entire website, but I am a little bit pessimistic. Do you have any thought?

  I am new to web development and trying to study various types of websites as case study. Right now my focus is on how search engines works for an eCommerce website. I know basic functioning for a search engine, i.e. crawl web pages, index them and the display the results using those indexes. But I got little confuse in case of an eCommerce website. Don't you think that it would be better if a search engine instead of crawling the web pages containing products, it should directly crawl the database and index the products stored in the database? And when a user search for any product, it will simply give us the rows of the table which matches the user query? If this is not the case, can someone please explain how the usual method works on eCommerce website?

• Will Google crawl session based website

  I have a website, it is split into 3 categories but using PHP its an all-in one kind of style. When a user chooses a category on the home page a session is set, this is then used to set the style and contents of the website. Would Googlebot and other bots be able to still scan my website? If a page is accessed and no session is set then the user is sent back to the home page. I have created special links, that set a session but go straight to the contact page. Even this page doesn't seem to be showing up. Any ideas if a sitemap with specially crafted links (to set the session) will help Google?

• Migrating Ruby on Rails Website to New Server (Linux)

  I have an existing website that is a Ruby on Rails project. I have another server i need to transfer the existing website too. The server i wish to transfer too was originally hosting the website so has the necessary gems/configuration are installed. I have tar the current releases shared dir from the old server and transfered them over to the new server. I have then unpack the tar in the apps directory to the new location which is a different URL path. My problem is now as you can see below that the path on the current - is pointing to the old url. ( i ran ls -la to see owenership) How can i change this current path to read with my new web address? current releases shared sitepack.tar root@server1:/var/www/clients/client1/NEWSITE.com/web/apps# ls -la current - /var/www/OLDSITE.com/web/apps/releases/20120130171636 root@server1:/var/www/clients/client1/NEWSITE.com/web/apps#

• Using an old penalized domain for a new website

  I had a website with 2 domains like these: firstdomain.com and first-domain.com. The main domain was first-domain.com and the other one was 301 redirected to first one. The main domain got a Google Penguin penalty some months ago. I uploaded the site on an new domain and removed Google index of old domain by using the remove URL tool in Webmaster Tools. Now, I want to use firstdomain.com (which was redirected to the penalized domain) for a new and fresh website with new and perfect content. Is it probable that history of this domain affects the new website and harms its ranking?

• Google shows "search instead for" when searching for our website

  Our website is new and the name is similar (only one letter different than another website) completely different type and company though. searching for xxxxxA works OK in Google and we find relatively good results. However searching xxxxxA.com finds results for the other website and gives us the following options: Showing results for xxxxxE.com Search instead for xxxxxA.com (hyperlink when clicked then it is correctly searching for our site) Questions: Do we need to contact Google to correct this and if yes how ? if not will it be corrected automatically when the site becomes more popular and what is the process?   Note: by external website I mean a website that we do not have access to the code. For example www.facebook.com I want to record how many social share clicks we have from our customer newsletters. For example, when a customer receives a newsletter they can click "Share this on Facebook" which shares the hosted version of the newsletter.   It's been two month I've launched a website. I recently ran into some websites which list directory of other websites. Some examples can be http://www.addgoogleurl.com/ and webdirectorieslist.com, etc. I was talking with my colleague and he says, adding the URL of my website to these kind of websites will negate the effect of other organic real links. Does google consider positive/negative points for these kind of links from web directory websites? Do you have any source for your answer to refer to?   I have website that crawls data from many third party services when user browse to webpage. This can be really slow because I hit third party server and process returned data before showing it to user. I am hosting website on Azure (shared mode). I am thinking to improve my implementation. Here is what I am thinking... Run a service that crawls data from third party services, process it and then store it in database. when user browse to my site, my site pulls data from database and display them to user. But above solution is not clear to me. Should I have normal service or wcf service? If wcf service then should website talk to database or wcf service (that can access data from database)? If normal service then how can I deploy on Azure?

• Website with over 1 million posts with not much textual content

  I've made a website which crawls files from all over the Internet and I feel like Google will ban me if I sent it sitemaps which contain all of these pages (1m+), because they contain only the file name/size/no of downloads and the download link(s). I'm considering this thought because I've made another website like this in the past and Google banned me after one week with the reason: "spam", even it was not (maybe somebody falsely reported me?!). Does someone have an idea about how to keep Google form banning my website? I've seen several other sites like mine and they don't get banned or... anything. And also, should I sent the sitemap or wait until Google indexes every page as it finds them? Thanks in advance :)

In the second approach they used native application look means use navigation-bar, tab-bar, tool-bar, scroll-view just like in native applications. • AJAX spreadsheet editor interfaced to own website

  My website has records that are tables. I would like for my users to be able to edit these records in an easy way. Currently they download a .csv-file, edit it in their favourite spreadsheet, and upload it again. But this often fails (they upload in wrong format or edit fields that they are not supposed to touch). I would therefore like to present the users with an editor directly on the website. So just like you can have WYSIWYG editors in CMSes for text I would like to have it for spreadsheets. One solution would be to interface my website with GoogleDoc and have the users edit the files using GoogleDoc's spreadsheet, and some how get the sheet back when they are done, but I do not know if this is possible at all.
