  • App using MonoTouch Core Graphics mysteriously crashes

    - by Stephen Ashley
    My app launches with a view controller and a simple view consisting of a button and a subview. When the user touches the button, the subview is populated with scrollviews that display the column headers, row headers, and cells of a spreadsheet. To draw the cells, I use CGBitmapContext to draw the cells, generate an image, and then put the image into the imageview contained in the scrollview that displays the cells. When I run the app on the iPad, it displays the cells just fine, and the scrollview lets the user scroll around in the spreadsheet without any problems. If the user touches the button a second time, the spreadsheet redraws and continues to work perfectly, If, however, the user touches the button a third time, the app crashes. There is no exception information display in the Application Output window. My first thought was that the successive button pushes were using up all the available memory, so I overrode the DidReceiveMemoryWarning method in the view controller and used a breakpoint to confirm that this method was not getting called. My next thought was that the CGBitmapContext was not getting released and looked for a Monotouch equivalent of Objective C's CGContextRelease() function. The closest I could find was the CGBitmapContext instance method Dispose(), which I called, without solving the problem. In order to free up as much memory as possible (in case I was somehow running out of memory without tripping a warning), I tried forcing garbage collection each time I finished using a CGBitmapContext. This made the problem worse. Now the program would crash moments after displaying the spreadsheet the first time. This caused me to wonder whether the Garbage Collector was somehow collecting something necessary to the continued display of graphics on the screen. I would be grateful for any suggestions on further avenues to investigate for the cause of these crashes. I have included the source code for the SpreadsheetView class. The relevant method is DrawSpreadsheet(), which is called when the button is touched. Thank you for your assistance on this matter. Stephen Ashley public class SpreadsheetView : UIView { public ISpreadsheetMessenger spreadsheetMessenger = null; public UIScrollView cellsScrollView = null; public UIImageView cellsImageView = null; public SpreadsheetView(RectangleF frame) : base() { Frame = frame; • Delphi Pascal - Using SetFilePointerEx and GetFileSizeEx, Getting Physical Media exact size when reading as a file

    - by SuicideClutchX2
    I am having trouble understanding how to delcare GetFileSizeEx and SetFilePointerEx in Delphi 2009 so that I can use them since they are not in the RTL or Windows.pas. I was able to compile with the following: function GetFileSizeEx(hFile: THandle; lpFileSizeHigh: Pointer): DWORD; external 'kernel32'; Then using GetFileSizeEx(PD, Pointer(DriveSize)); to get the size. But could not get it to work, the disk handle I am using is valid and I have had no problem reading the data or working under the 2gb mark with the older API's. GetFileSize of course returns 4294967295. I have had greater trouble trying to use SetFilePointerEx with the data types it uses. The overall project needs to read the data from a flash card, which is not a problem at all I can do this. My problem is that I can not find the length or size of the media I will be reading. I have code I have used in the past to do this with media under 2GB. But now that I need to read media over 2GB it is a problem. If you still dont understand I am dumping a card with all data including the boot record, etc. This is the code I would normally use to read from the physical disk to grab say the boot record and dump it to file: SetFilePointer(PD,0,nil,FILE_BEGIN); SetLength(Buffer,512); ReadFile(PD,Buffer[0],512,BytesReturned,nil); I just need to figure out how to find the end of an 8gb card and so on as well as being able to set a file pointer beyond the 2gb barrier. I guess any help in the external declarations as well as understand the values that SetFilePointerEx uses (I do not understand the whole High Low thing) would be of great help. var Form1: TForm1; function GetFileSizeEx(hFile: THandle; var FileSize: Int64): DWORD; stdcall; external 'kernel32'; implementation {$R *.dfm} function GetLD(Drive: Char): Cardinal; var Buffer : String; begin Buffer := Format('\\.\%s:',[Drive]); Result := CreateFile(PChar(Buffer),GENERIC_READ Or GENERIC_WRITE,FILE_SHARE_READ,nil,OPEN_EXISTING,0,0); If Result = INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE Then begin Result := CreateFile(PChar(Buffer),GENERIC_READ,FILE_SHARE_READ,nil,OPEN_EXISTING,0,0); end; end; function GetPD(Drive: Byte): Cardinal; var Buffer : String; begin If Drive = 0 Then begin Result := INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE; Exit; end; Buffer := Format('\\.\PHYSICALDRIVE%d',[Drive]); Result := CreateFile(PChar(Buffer),GENERIC_READ Or GENERIC_WRITE,FILE_SHARE_READ,nil,OPEN_EXISTING,0,0); If Result = INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE Then begin Result := CreateFile(PChar(Buffer),GENERIC_READ,FILE_SHARE_READ,nil,OPEN_EXISTING,0,0); end; end; function GetPhysicalDiskNumber(Drive: Char): Byte; var LD : DWORD; DiskExtents : PVolumeDiskExtents; DiskExtent : TDiskExtent; BytesReturned : Cardinal; begin Result := 0; LD := GetLD(Drive); If LD = INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE Then Exit; Try DiskExtents := AllocMem(Max_Path); DeviceIOControl(LD,IOCTL_VOLUME_GET_VOLUME_DISK_EXTENTS,nil,0,DiskExtents,Max_Path,BytesReturned,nil); If DiskExtents^.NumberOfDiskExtents > 0 Then begin DiskExtent := DiskExtents^.Extents[0]; Result := DiskExtent.DiskNumber; end; Finally CloseHandle(LD); end; end; procedure TForm1.Button1Click(Sender: TObject); var PD : DWORD; BytesReturned : Cardinal; Buffer : Array Of Byte; myFile: File; DriveSize: Int64; begin PD := GetPD(GetPhysicalDiskNumber(Edit1.Text[1])); If PD = INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE Then Exit; Try GetFileSizeEx(PD, DriveSize); //SetFilePointer(PD,0,nil,FILE_BEGIN); //etLength(Buffer,512); //ZeroMemory(@Buffer,SizeOf(Buffer)); //ReadFile(PD,Buffer[0],512,BytesReturned,nil); //AssignFile(myFile, 'StickDump.bin'); //ReWrite(myFile, 512); //BlockWrite(myFile, Buffer[0], 1); //CloseFile(myFile); Finally CloseHandle(PD); End; end;

  • Cannot call SAPI from dll

    - by Quandary
    Question: The below code works fine as long as it is in an executable. It uses the msft (text-to-)speech API (SAPI). But as soon as I put it in a dll and load it with loadlibrary from an executable, it doesn't work. I've also tried to change CoInitialize(NULL); to CoInitializeEx(NULL,COINIT_MULTITHREADED); and I tried with all possible flags ( COINIT_APARTMENTTHREADED, COINIT_MULTITHREADED, COINIT_DISABLE_OLE1DDE, COINIT_SPEED_OVER_MEMORY) But it's always stuck at hr = CoCreateInstance(__uuidof(SpVoice), NULL, CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER, IID_ISpVoice, (void **) &pVoice); I also tried those flags here: CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER,CLSCTX_SERVER, CLSCTX_ALL, but nothing seems to help... There are no errors, it doesn't crash, it just sleeps forever at CoCreateInstance... This is the code as single exe (working) #include <windows.h> #include <sapi.h> #include <iostream> #include <cstdlib> int main(int argc, char* argv[]) { ISpVoice * pVoice = NULL; //CoInitializeEx(NULL,COINIT_MULTITHREADED); HRESULT hr = CoInitialize(NULL); if( FAILED(hr) ) { MessageBox(NULL, TEXT("Failed To Initialize"), TEXT("Error"),0); printf("Failed!\n"); char buffer[2000] ; sprintf(buffer, "An error occured: 0x%08X.\n", hr); FILE * pFile = fopen ( "c:\\temp\\CoInitialize_exe.txt" , "w" ); fwrite (buffer , 1 , sizeof(buffer) , pFile ); fclose (pFile); } else { //CoGetClassObject(CLSID_SpVoice, CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER, NULL, IID_IClassFactory, (void**) &pClsF); //hr = CoGetClassObject(CLSID_SpVoice, CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER, NULL, IID_IClassFactory, (void**) &pClsF); hr = CoCreateInstance(__uuidof(SpVoice), NULL, CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER, IID_ISpVoice, (void **) &pVoice); //HRESULT hr = CoCreateInstance(CLSID_SpVoice, NULL, CLSCTX_ALL, IID_ISpVoice, (void **) &pVoice); if( SUCCEEDED( hr ) ) { hr = pVoice->Speak(L"Test Test", 0, NULL); hr = pVoice->Speak(L"This sounds normal <pitch middle = '-10'/> but the pitch drops half way through", SPF_IS_XML, NULL ); pVoice->Release(); pVoice = NULL; } else { MessageBox(NULL, TEXT("Failed To Create a COM instance..."), TEXT("Error"),0); char buffer[2000] ; sprintf(buffer, "An error occured: 0x%08X.\n", hr); FILE * pFile = fopen ( "c:\\temp\\CoCreateInstance_exe.txt" , "w" ); fwrite (buffer , 1 , sizeof(buffer) , pFile ); fclose (pFile); } } CoUninitialize(); return EXIT_SUCCESS; } This is the exe loading the dll (stays forever at printf("trying to create instance.\n"); ) #include <windows.h> #include <sapi.h> #include <iostream> #include <cstdlib> int main(int argc, char* argv[]) { // C:\Windows\System32\Speech\Common\sapi.dll //LoadLibraryA("sapi.dll"); LoadLibraryA("Sapidll2.dll"); return EXIT_SUCCESS; // Frankly, that would be nice... } And this is Sapidll2.dll // dllmain.cpp : Defines the entry point for the DLL application. #include "stdafx.h" #include <iostream> #include <cstdlib> #include <string> #include <windows.h> #include <sapi.h> int init_engine() { ISpVoice * pVoice = NULL; //HRESULT hr = CoInitializeEx(NULL, COINIT_MULTITHREADED); HRESULT hr = CoInitialize(NULL); if(FAILED(hr) ) { MessageBox(NULL, TEXT("Failed To Initialize"), TEXT("Error"), 0); char buffer[2000] ; sprintf(buffer, "An error occured: 0x%08X.\n", hr); FILE * pFile = fopen ( "c:\\temp\\CoInitialize_dll.txt" , "w" ); fwrite (buffer , 1 , strlen(buffer) , pFile ); fclose (pFile); } else { printf("trying to create instance.\n"); //HRESULT hr = CoCreateInstance(CLSID_SpVoice, NULL, CLSCTX_ALL, IID_ISpVoice, (void **) &pVoice); //hr = CoCreateInstance(CLSID_SpVoice, NULL, CLSCTX_ALL, IID_ISpVoice, (void **) &pVoice); //HRESULT hr = CoCreateInstance(__uuidof(ISpVoice), NULL, CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER, IID_ISpVoice, (void **) &pVoice); HRESULT hr = CoCreateInstance(__uuidof(SpVoice), NULL, CLSCTX_ALL, IID_ISpVoice, (void **) &pVoice); if( SUCCEEDED( hr ) ) { printf("Succeeded\n"); //hr = pVoice->Speak(L"The text to speech engine has been successfully initialized.", 0, NULL); } else { printf("failed\n"); MessageBox(NULL, TEXT("Failed To Create COM instance"), TEXT("Error"), 0); char buffer[2000] ; sprintf(buffer, "An error occured: 0x%08X.\n", hr); FILE * pFile = fopen ( "c:\\temp\\CoCreateInstance_dll.txt" , "w" ); fwrite (buffer , 1 , strlen(buffer) , pFile ); fclose (pFile); } } if(pVoice != NULL) { pVoice->Release(); pVoice = NULL; } CoUninitialize(); return true ; } BOOL APIENTRY DllMain( HMODULE hModule, DWORD ul_reason_for_call, LPVOID lpReserved) { switch (ul_reason_for_call) { case DLL_PROCESS_ATTACH: init_engine(); break; case DLL_THREAD_ATTACH: case DLL_THREAD_DETACH: case DLL_PROCESS_DETACH: break; } return TRUE; }

  • Delete array of size 1

    - by Arne
    This is possibly a candidate for a one-line answer. I would like know it anyway.. I am writing a simple circular buffer and for some reasons that are not important for the question I need to implement it using an array of doubles. In fact I have not investiated other ways to do it, but since an array is required anyway I have not spent much time on looking for alternatives. template<typename T> class CircularBuffer { public: CircularBuffer(unsigned int size); ~CircularBuffer(); void Resize(unsigned int new_size); ... private: T* buffer; unsigned int buffer_size; }; Since I need to have the buffer dynamically sized the buffer_size is neither const nor a template parameter. Now the question: During construction and in function Resize(int) I only require the size to be at least one, although a buffer of size one is effectively no longer a buffer. Of course using a simple double instead would be more appropriate but anyway. Now when deleting the internal buffer in the destructor - or in function resize for that matter - I need to delete the allocated memory. Question is, how? First candidate is of course delete[] buffer; but then again, if I have allocated a buffer of size one, that is if the pointer was aquired with buffer = new T[0], is it still appropriate to call delete[] on the pointer or do I need to call delete buffer; (without brackets) ? Thanks, Arne

  • How to write a decent process filter?

    - by konr
    Hi there, I'm building a program that communicates with Emacs, and one of the challenges I'm facing is writing Emacs's process filter function. Its input string is a series of s-expressions to be evaluated. Here is a sample: (gimme-append-to-buffer "25 - William Christie dir, Les Arts Florissants - Scene 2. Prelude - Les Arts Florissants\n") (gimme-append-to-buffer "26 - William Christie dir, Les Arts Florissants - Cybele: 'Je Veux Joindre' - Les Arts Florissants\n") (gimme-append-to-buffer "27 - William Christie dir, Les Arts Florissants - Scene 3. Cybele: 'Tu T'Etonnes, Melisse' - Les Arts Florissants\n") (gimme-append-to-buffer "28 - William Christie dir, Les Arts Florissants - Cybele: 'Que Les Plus Doux Zephyrs'. Scene 4. - Les Arts Florissants\n") (gimme-append-to-buffer "29 - William Christie dir, Les Arts Florissants - Entree Des Nations - Les Arts Florissants\n") (gimme-append-to-buffer "30 - William Christie dir, Les Arts Florissants - Entree Des Zephyrs - Les Arts Florissants\n") (gimme-append-to-buffer "31 - William Christie dir, Les Arts Florissants - Choeur Des Nations' 'Que Devant Vous' - Les Arts Florissants\n") (gimme-append-to-buffer "32 - William Christie dir, Les Arts Florissants - Atys: 'Indigne Que Je Suis' - Les Arts Florissants\n") (gimme-append-to-buffer "33 - William Christie dir, Les Arts Florissants - Reprise Du Choeur Des Nations : 'Que Devant Nous' - Les Arts Florissants\n") (gimme-append-to-buffer "34 - William Christie dir, Les Arts Flor*emphasized text*issants - Reprise De L'Air Des Zephyrs - Les Arts Florissants\n") The first problem that I've faced is that the string is somehow not fully formed when the function is so called, so writing something like (mapcar 'eval (format "(%s)" input-string)) won't work. To deal with this first problem, I was using a loop. The full function I wrote is: (defun eval-all-sexps (s) (loop for x = (ignore-errors (read-from-string s)) then (ignore-errors (read-from-string (substring s position))) while x summing (or (cdr x) 0) into position doing (eval (car x)))) Now the second problem that showed up is that the function is called twice with a somewhat large input, first with valid but partial content, then with what looks like pieces of the remaining data. To solve this problem, I'm considering using a junk variable to hold up what remains from a loop and then concatenating it to the input of the next call, but I was wondering if you guys have any other suggestions on how to deal with such a problem more elegantly. Thanks!

  • ctypes and pointer manipulation

    - by Chris
    I am dealing with image buffers, and I want to be able to access data a few lines into my image for analysis with a c library. I have created my 8-bit pixel buffer in Python using create_string_buffer. Is there a way to get a pointer to a location within that buffer without re-creating a new buffer? My goal is to analyze and change data within that buffer in chunks, without having to do a lot of buffer creation and data copying. In this case, ultimately, the C library is doing all the manipulation of the buffer, so I don't actually have to change values within the buffer using Python. I just need to give my C function access to data within the buffer.

  • Blackberry Player, custom data source

    - by Alex
    Hello I must create a custom media player within the application with support for mp3 and wav files. I read in the documentation i cant seek or get the media file duration without a custom datasoruce. I checked the demo in the JDE 4.6 but i have still problems... I cant get the duration, it return much more then the expected so i`m sure i screwed up something while i modified the code to read the mp3 file locally from the filesystem. Somebody can help me what i did wrong ? (I can hear the mp3, so the player plays it correctly from start to end) I must support OSs = 4.6. • C# Compress Triple Byte Array

    How do access a secure website within a sharepoint webpart? The following code works fine as a console application but if you run it in a webpart, you will get a access violation WebRequest request = WebRequest.Create("https://somesecuresite.com"); WebResponse firstResponse = null; try { firstResponse = request.GetResponse(); } catch (WebException ex) { writer.WriteLine("Error: " + ex.ToString()); return; } if you access a non secure site, it also works. • How can you make an emacs macro wait for cscope query results?

    - by Sudhanshu
    I am trying to write a macro which calls cscope-find-functions-calling-this-function on each and every tag in a file displayed in the *Tags List* buffer (created by list-tags command). This should create a buffer which contains list of all functions calling a set of functions defined in a certain file. This is the sequence of keystrokes: 1. <f11> ;; cscope-find-functions-calling-this-function 2. RET ;; newline [shows results of cscope in a split window] 3. C-x C-p ;; mark-page 4. C-x C-x ;; icicle-exchange-point-and-mark 5. <up> ;; previous-line 6. <end> ;; end-of-line [region to copy has been marked] 7. <f7> ;; append-results-to-buffer 8. C-x ESC O ;; [move back to split window on the right] 9. C-x b ;; icicle-buffer [Switch back to *Tags List* buffer] 10. *Tags ;; self-insert-command * 5 11. SPC ;; self-insert-command 12. List* ;; self-insert-command * 5 13. RET ;; newline 14 . <down> ;; next-line [Position point on next tag in the list] Problem: I get no results in the buffer, and I found out that's because Step 3-7 execute even before cscope prints the results of query made on Steps 1-2. I can insert a pause in the macro by using C-x q, but I'd rather like the macro to wait after Step 2, until cscope has returned with the results and only then continue further. I suspect this is not possible through a macro, maybe a LISP function... I'm not a lisp expert myself. Can someone please help? Thanks! Details: I have Icicles installed so by default I get word at point in current buffer as input in minibuffer. F11 is bound to cscope-find-functions-calling-this-function windmove is installed and C-x (C-x ESC o - as shown below) takes you to the right window. F7 is bound to append-results-to-buffer which is defined as: (defun append-results-to-buffer () (interactive) (append-to-buffer (get-buffer-create "c1") (point) (mark))) This function just appends the currently marked region to a buffer named "c1".

    I have File Like "Sample.bak" and when I compress it to be "Sample.zip" I lose the file extension inside the zip file I meann when I open the compressed file I find "Sample" without any extension. I use this code : Dim name As String = Path.GetFileName(filePath).Replace(".Bak", "") Dim source() As Byte = System.IO.File.ReadAllBytes(filePath) Dim compressed() As Byte = ConvertToByteArray(source) System.IO.File.WriteAllBytes(destination & name & ".Bak" & ".zip", compressed) Or using this code : Public Sub cmdCompressFile(ByVal FileName As String) 'Stream object that reads file contents Dim streamObj As Stream = New StreamReader(FileName).BaseStream 'Allocate space in buffer according to the length of the file read Dim buffer(streamObj.Length) As Byte 'Fill buffer streamObj.Read(buffer, 0, buffer.Length) streamObj.Close() 'File Stream object used to change the extension of a file Dim compFile As System.IO.FileStream = File.Create(Path.ChangeExtension(FileName, "zip")) 'GZip object that compress the file Dim zipStreamObj As New GZipStream(compFile, CompressionMode.Compress) 'Write to the Stream object from the buffer zipStreamObj.Write(buffer, 0, buffer.Length) zipStreamObj.Close() End Sub please I need to compress the file without loosing file extension inside compressed file. thanks,

  • Reading and writing in parallel

    - by Malfist
    I want to be able to read and write a large file in parallel, or if not in parallel, at least in blocks so that I don't use up so much memory. This is my current code: // Define memory stream which will be used to hold encrypted data. MemoryStream memoryStream = new MemoryStream(); // Define cryptographic stream (always use Write mode for encryption). CryptoStream cryptoStream = new CryptoStream(memoryStream, encryptor, CryptoStreamMode.Write); //start encrypting using (BinaryReader reader = new BinaryReader(File.Open(fileIn, FileMode.Open))) { byte[] buffer = new byte[1024 * 1024]; int read = 0; do { read = reader.Read(buffer, 0, buffer.Length); cryptoStream.Write(buffer, 0, read); } while (read == buffer.Length); } // Finish encrypting. cryptoStream.FlushFinalBlock(); // Convert our encrypted data from a memory stream into a byte array. //byte[] cipherTextBytes = memoryStream.ToArray(); //write our memory stream to a file memoryStream.Position = 0; using (BinaryWriter writer = new BinaryWriter(File.Open(fileOut, FileMode.Create))) { byte[] buffer = new byte[1024 * 1024]; int read = 0; do { read = memoryStream.Read(buffer, 0, buffer.Length); writer.Write(buffer, 0, read); } while (read == buffer.Length); } // Close both streams. memoryStream.Close(); cryptoStream.Close(); As you can see, it reads the entire file into memory, encrypts it, then writes it out. If I happen to be encrypting files that are very large (2GB+) it tends not to work, or at the very least, consumes ~97% of my memory. How could I do it in a more effective manner?

  • Problem with C function of type char pointer, can someone explain?

    - by JJ
    Find the errors from following C function : char* f(int i) { int i; char buffer[20]; switch ( i ) { 1: strcpy( buffer, "string1"); 2: strcpy( buffer, "string2"); 3: strcpy( buffer, "string3"); default: strcpy(buffer, "defaultstring"); } return buffer; } this is c funtion not C++, I think it has to do with type conversion my compiler give warning that declaration of int i shadows a parameter.

  • How to map keys in vim differently for different kinds of buffers

    - by Yogesh Arora
    The problem i am facing is that i have mapped some keys and mouse events for seraching in vim while editing a file. But those mappings impact the functionality if the quickfix buffer. I was wondering if it is possible to map keys depending on the buffer in which they are used. EDIT - I am adding more info for this question Let us consider a scenario. I want to map <C-F4> to close a buffer/window. Now this behavior could depend on a number of things. If i am editing a buffer it should just close that buffer without changing the layout of the windows. I am using buffkil plugin for this. It does not depend on extension of file but on the type of buffer. I saw in vim documentation that there are unlisted and listed buffer. So if it is listed buffer it should close using bufkill commands. If it is not a listed buffer it should use <c-w>c command to close buffer and changing the window layout. I am new at writing vim functions/scripts, can someone help me getting started on this

  • Standard term for a thread I/O reorder buffer?

    - by Crashworks
    I have a case where many threads all concurrently generate data that is ultimately written to one long, serial file. I need to somehow serialize these writes so that the file gets written in the right order. ie, I have an input queue of 2048 jobs j0..jn, each of which produces a chunk of data oi. The jobs run in parallel on, say, eight threads, but the output blocks have to appear in the file in the same order as the corresponding input blocks — the output file has to be in the order o0o1o2... The solution to this is pretty self evident: I need some kind of buffer that accumulates and writes the output blocks in the correct order, similar to a CPU reorder buffer in Tomasulo's algorithm, or to the way that TCP reassembles out-of-order packets before passing them to the application layer. Before I go code it, I'd like to do a quick literature search to see if there are any papers that have solved this problem in a particularly clever or efficient way, since I have severe realtime and memory constraints. I can't seem to find any papers describing this though; a Scholar search on every permutation of [threads, concurrent, reorder buffer, reassembly, io, serialize] hasn't yielded anything useful. I feel like I must just not be searching the right terms. Is there a common academic name or keyword for this kind of pattern that I can search on?

  • Why don't I need to bind my vertex buffer object before calling glDrawArrays?

    - by valmo
    I'm a bit confused why this still renders. I thought you need to bind a vertex buffer object so that glDrawArrays knows which vertex buffer to use. Here is my initialisation code.. // Create and bind vertex array to store vertex attribute states. glGenVertexArraysOES(NUM_VERTEX_ARRAYS, &m_vertexArray); glBindVertexArrayOES(m_vertexArray); // Create and bind vertex buffer to store vertex data. glGenBuffers(NUM_VERTEX_BUFFERS, &m_vertexBuffer); glBindBuffer(GL_ARRAY_BUFFER, m_vertexBuffer); glBufferData(GL_ARRAY_BUFFER, sizeof(Vertex) * 36, &m_vertices[0], GL_STATIC_DRAW); glEnableVertexAttribArray(VertexAttribPosition); glVertexAttribPointer(VertexAttribPosition, 3, GL_FLOAT, GL_FALSE, 24, BUFFER_OFFSET(0)); glEnableVertexAttribArray(VertexAttribNormal); glVertexAttribPointer(VertexAttribNormal, 3, GL_FLOAT, GL_FALSE, 24, BUFFER_OFFSET(12)); glBindBuffer(GL_ARRAY_BUFFER, 0); glBindVertexArrayOES(0); Here is my render code. I'm confused why glDrawArrays still works when I bind 0 to GL_ARRAY_BUFFER. glBindVertexArrayOES(m_vertexArray); glBindBuffer(GL_ARRAY_BUFFER, 0); glDrawArrays(GL_TRIANGLES, 0, 36); glBindVertexArrayOES(0);

  • How do I reconfigure my GLES frame buffer after a rotation?

    - by Panda Pajama
    I am implementing interface rotation for my GLES based game for iOS, written in Xamarin.iOS with OpenTK. I am detecting the rotation by overriding WillRotate, in my UIViewController, and I correctly re-setup all of my projection matrices. However, when drawing a sprite, the image looks a bit blurrier on the landscape version compared to the portrait version, as you can see in the following closeups magnified 10x. Portrait (before rotating) Landscape (after rotating) In both cases, I'm using the same texture with the same sampler, the same shader, and the same GL state. I just changed the order of the parameters in the projection matrix, so the resulting sizes should be exactly the same pixelwise. Since this could be thought of as a window resize, I suppose that the framebuffer has to be recreated to the new size. When working on desktop apps on Direct3D11 (SharpDX), I would have to call swapChain.ResizeBuffers() to do this. I have tried setting AutoResize = true in my iPhoneOSGameView, but then the framebuffer gets clipped as I rotate the interface, and then everything disappears when rotating the interface again. I'm not doing anything strange, my framebuffer initialization is pretty vanilla: int scaling = (int)UIScreen.MainScreen.Scale; DeviceWidth = (int)UIScreen.MainScreen.Bounds.Width * scaling; DeviceHeight = (int)UIScreen.MainScreen.Bounds.Height * scaling; Size = new System.Drawing.Size((int)(DeviceWidth), (int)(DeviceHeight)); Bounds = new System.Drawing.RectangleF(0, 0, DeviceWidth, DeviceHeight); Frame = new System.Drawing.RectangleF(0, 0, DeviceWidth, DeviceHeight); ContextRenderingApi = EAGLRenderingAPI.OpenGLES2; AutoResize = true; LayerRetainsBacking = true; LayerColorFormat = EAGLColorFormat.RGBA8; I get inconsistent results when changing Size, Bounds and Frame on my CreateFrameBuffer override, but since the documentation is so incomplete (it has nothing on Bounds and Frame), I have resorted to randomly changing stuff here and there without really knowing what is going on. There is a similar question which has no answers. However, I don't know if they're experiencing the same problem as I am. Is my supposition that recreating the framebuffer is necessary, correct? If so, does anybody know how to do it correctly in OpenTK for Xamarin.iOS?

  • PHP, when to use iterators, how to buffer results?

    - by Jon L.
    When is it best to use Iterators in PHP, and how can they be implemented to best avoid loading all objects into memory simultaneously? Do any constructs exist in PHP so that we can queue up results of an operation for use with an Iterator, while again avoiding loading all objects into memory simultaneously? An example would be a curl HTTP request against a REST server In the case of an HTTP request that returns all results at once (a la curl), would we be better off to go with streaming results, and if so, are there any limitations or pitfalls to be aware of? If using streaming, is it better to replace curl with a PHP native stream/socket? My intention is to implement Iterators for a REST client, and separately a document ORM that I'm maintaining, but only if I can do so while gaining benefits from reduced memory usage, increased performance, etc. Thanks in advance for any responses :-)

  • What is the primary use of Vertex Buffer Objects?

    - by sensae
    From what I've read, it seems VBOs are purely for performance. I'm working on a very rudimentary learning project in lwjgl and I'm just trying to figure out what more advanced features of the library I should be delving into, and what their use is. My understanding is that VBOs allow a person to keep vertexes in VRAM while they aren't currently being drawn in a scene. In my case, I'm just drawing quads and performance probably isn't a concern at all, but I'm trying to piece together what's happening under the hood. If I'm drawing quads directly, I'm drawing from the CPU memory, correct? Also, if I'm not doing any checks for visibility, does that mean I'm rendering absolutely everything in the "scene", regardless of whether its in view? Are VBOs a way to store objects and only render what's needed?
