  • bgiframe appears in front of jquery modal dialog's overlay in IE6

    When I look at jquery ui's demo modal dialog (http://jqueryui.com/demos/dialog/#modal) in IE6 the bgiframe is appearing on top of the background overlay. So instead of seeing a black/gray stripe pattern, there is just a white background covering the page with the word "false" in the upper left corner. Is bgiframe broken with the latest version of jqueryui? Is there a quick way to repair this problem with bgiframe? If not, is there a plugin that hides selects when a modal dialog is shown? The ie6 z-index issue with selects is the reason I was using bgiframe in the first place.

  • JQuery returns wrong value for IE Compatibility

    Hey , I'm using JQuery and there seems to be a problem when I run IE in compatibility mode (and generally any IE less than version 8). I'm trying to use attr("value") for a button control. In IE8, and other browsers, this works fine and the result of this code: alert($(this).attr("value")); is simply the value of set in the button attribute (e.g. Home, Settings, Help etc..) However, when this is run in IE compatibility view, I get the entire HTML as the output value: <SPAN class=ui-button-text>Home</SPAN> This causes my checks to fail. Is there a way to return just the Home section across all browsers? Thanks

    I'm using uploadify and the function to change the settings doesn't seem to be working. I'm basing my code from the following example: #(‘#someID’).uploadifySettings(’scriptData’, {‘name’ : some.val()}); So here's what I'm doing: // INITIALIZATION $("#"+elementId).uploadify({ // other data "scriptData": { "token": token } }); Later on I want to update the scriptData: $("#"+elementId).uploadifySettings("scriptData",{"token": "pleasework"}); ... but this is not working, it's still using the scriptData set during the initialization. What am I doing wrong?

  • CKEditor 3.2 is un-editable in jQuery simpleModal

    Hello all, I noticed that this isn't the first time that this issue comes up, but I still couldn't find the right and working solution for me. Here is the thing- In my ASP.NET aspx page I created a div element, with a <cc1:CKEditor> control tag within it. This div is hidden, and is attached to a jQuery SimpleModal plugin. The problem is- that when I trigger the modal-opening and the modal shows up with the editor within it, the editor is UNEDITABLE, locked. How can I fix it, and enable the editing in the CKEditor's textarea? Thanks in advance!

    Hello, I have the following array: var idParam = ["1","2","3"]; I want to send this data as request using jQuery.ajax, what I'm doing: $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "Services/GetInfo.ashx", data: { "id": idParam }, contentType: "application/text", dataType: "json", success: function(result) { ... }, error: function(XMLHttpRequest, textStatus, errorThrown) { ... } }); But as result I have the following ugly string: ?id[]=1&id[]=2&id[]=4 (actually it's much uglier:id%5B%5D=1&id%5B%5D=2&id%5B%5D=4). What to do to get the normal string like: id=1&id=2&id=4 ?? Thanks

  • jQuery and ASP.NET drop down problem

    I have a drop down in an ASP.NET page. Whenever the value of the drop down changes an ASP.NET AJAX request is made to the server. I also attached a jQuery "change" event handler to that list to execute some code when the value is changed. So, probably two different event handlers are being attached to the same drop down, and it's causing some problems, i.e., sometimes wrong drop down values are sent to the server. I don't know why is this happening but I think attaching two different event handlers to a same drop down may be the reason. Can anyone tell me what is the problem here? If what I guessed is true, then is there any other way to execute some custom javascript code before asp.net AJAX request is sent ?

    Hi, I'm looking for a "roller toggle" in jquery (ideally using a plugin). If I have the following HTML: <ul> <li>Option 1</li> <li>Option 2</li> <li>Option 3</li> </ul> I would like the first option to be displayed and the others hidden. Each time I "tap/click" on an option it displays the next and loops around to the first one after the last one. When used on a mobile web device I'd like it respond to swipe up/down events and appear like a "roller" (i.e. using a slide up/down effect). Too much to ask? Hopefully not, any pointers appreciated.     Hi there I'm coming from a Prototype background and looking into JQuery. I'd like to know the 'right' way to do attach a click event to a bunch of elements, but then know in the event handler which one of my elements was clicked. I've come up with the following: MYNS.CarouselHelper.prototype.attachImgHandlers = function () { $j(".carouselItem").bind("click", this, function(e){ e.data.openCarouselImage(e) }); } I then have the following in my event handler: MYNS.CarouselHelper.prototype.openCarouselImage = function(e) { var img = e.currentTarget; // Do stuff to the image element }; Is this 'right'? It feels wrong to me as I am used to explicitly passing the element to the event handler in Prototype as I loop through an array of elements. Thanks in advance.

    On my pages(ASP.NET 3.5) where all input controls have tab order set whenever next input control is not enabled or hidden it goes to the address bar and then to next available control. To fix this behavior, i.e. make it land to the next available control w/o going to address bar I am trying to use jQuery: $(':text,textarea,select').blur(function() { $(this).next(':text, textarea, select').filter(':enabled:visible').focus(); }); But it still goes to the adress bar in some cases. What do I need to correct here?

  • focus on page scroll navigation when using iPad

    I've used Page Scroller Lite http://pagescroller.com to set up a single-page site at http://www.thestitchshop.co.uk There seems to be an issue that scolling works only once when clicking on a menu item. It will only work again after one touched scrolls the page 'manually' by sliding the finger across the page. Apparently, the issue is that the content gets the focus after the scroll and tapping on navigation then actually taps behind it. I've tried contacting the author of pagecroller, but no luck. So, how do I fix it? I don't have any JS knowledge, so I need a little more help along the way. Many thanks.     I have a script that dynamically loads iframes inside a webpage. You can see the demo here: DEMO I want to use jquery to achieve the same rseult, but with a nice sliding effect. Basically, I have 10 links on a page. When the link is clicked, I want the iframe window to load in the new content and apply an effect to the transition.     Hi, On my website I use jQuery to hook the events of elements, namely hyperlinks. As these hyperlinks only perform actions on the current page, and do not lead anywhere, I have been putting a href attribute of "#" in: <a href="#">My Link</a> However in some browsers this causes the page to scroll right to top which is obviously undesirable behaviour. I've tried using a blank href value, or not including one, but then the mouse does not change to the hand cursor upon hovering. What should I put in there?

This concerns two things: Where do I import the JQuery JavaScript file? (I've been thinking that the Master page would be a good place to do this; am I right, or do I have to import it in each view?) Should all my JQuery code be referenced from the Master page (i.e., I store my code that uses JQuery in a separate .js file and reference it in a <script> tag)? Thanks in advance.

    Hi, I'm using jQuery UI 1.8 and I would like to hide the year from the user in both the popup and the textbox. Essentially instead of picking the day, month and year I want the user to just pick the day and month. Hiding the year in the textbox is easy enough, the code shown below will do that.     lastly I've been feeling like jquery is slowly becoming the defacto standard in js libraries I might be wrong!) or at least that is more active than the rest of the frameworks... for example I've been looking for a fine open source calendar like componente and found http://fullcalendar.vinsol.com/ we've been using prototype for very little things, like its selector capabilities ($ function as a shortcut for document.getElementById, mainly), executing some piece of js when the page is loaded and to issue some very simple ajax calls. so I guess the migration should be quite straight forward, but I'd like to know the pros / cons of migrating to prototype... on the other hand, I guess that having both of them together is not a good choice, specially taking into account that the migration should be quite simple... am I right? saludos sas
