• Entity Framework 5 upgrade from 4

  I'm having an issue with the Where clause in a search, in my original version EF4 I could add a Where clause with 2 parameters, the where clause (string predicate) and a ObjectParameter list such as var query = context.entities.Where(WhereClause.ToString(), Params.ToArray()); since my upgrade to EF5 I don't seem to have that option am I missing something? This was originally used to build dynamic where clause such as "it.entity_id = @entity_id" then holding the variable value in the ObjectParameter. I'm hoping I don't have to rewrite all the searches that have been built out this way, so any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

  I had the following code in an ASP.NET MVC 2 application. internal TextWriter _writer; // some stuff _writer = _viewContext.Writer; _writer.Write(_tag.ToString(TagRenderMode.EndTag)); I tried to move it to MVC 1 & now it doesn't build any more. I'm getting this error: 'System.Web.Mvc.ViewContext' does not contain a definition for 'Writer' Can someone point out how I can resolve this? Thanks.

• Taking 2 attributes from XElement to create a dictionary LINQ

  I'm trying to take one attribute to use as the key, and another to use as the value. If I use (xDoc is an XDocument object in the example): Dictionary<string, XElement> test = xDoc.Descendants() .Where<XElement>(t => t.Name == "someelement") .ToDictionary<XElement, string>(t => t.Attribute("myattr").Value.ToString()); I get a dictionary with the myattr value as key (which is what I want) but the entire XElement object as the value. What I want to do, is to select a second attribute to set as the value property on each dictionary item, but can't seem to figure that out. Is it possible to do all of this in 1 Linq statement?   I have a need to display a currency value in my application. There doesn't seem to be an easy way to do this with the RIM API, so I'm reduced to creating my own solution (a common refrain for BlackBerry development, unfortunately) Currently I'm using the Formatter class, from javax.microedition.locale like so protected String formatResult(double result) { try { Locale l = Locale.getDefaultForSystem(); Formatter formatter = new Formatter(l.toString()); return formatter.formatCurrency(result); } catch (UnsupportedLocaleException e) { return "This fails for the default locale because BlackBerry sucks"; } } I always hit the catch block in the simulator. • Override onDraw to change how the drawing occurs (Android)

  I want to change how my UI elements display, so I am overriding onDraw. The following code allows me to change a View to be drawn using PorterDuff.Mode.DARKEN. Unfortunately, this method involves creating a bitmap the size of the entire screen, then drawing to it then drawing this large bitmap the main screen again, for each UI element. This isn't at all efficient. It looks like this: Date: Wed, 28 Apr 2010 02:31:05 GMT How can I generate an RFC1123 time string from C code, running on Windows? I don't have the use of C# and DateTime.ToString().   I'm currently writing a Greasemonkey script for a page, so I can't modify the script myself. There is a form submit button on the page. When you click this button, it executes some fancy AJAX calls and such to update the page and do serverside things. What I'm trying to is basically set a "lastClick" value when the button is clicked. I want to add the code GM_setValue("lastClicked", (new Date()).getTime().toString()) to store the last time the button was clicked (for future uses of the script, it will actually do something with this date). How exactly can I accomplish this?
