• Invalid Argument IE 8 jQuery

  Hi, I have this particular script that runs so that the flash elements don't show up on top of my slide out navigation. This redraws that flash element with wmode as opaque and so it shows up under the navigation. Works perfectly with Chrome and FireFox but not with IE. In IE I get an Invalid Argument in jquery.min.js code 0 Line 103 char 460. Can anyone help me as to why? If I comment out the second line of code inside the function then there is no error, but then doesn't work in FireFox. • JQuery: Problem in getting element's width in Chrome

  Hello, Suppose I have this image: <img src="images/01.jpg" border="0" rel="shadow" /> Then with JQuery, I get its width using: $('[rel="shadow"]').width(); Firefox and IE report correct dimensions of the image eg 140px while Chrome reports 0. How to solve this problem? Note: I don't want to set explicit width for images eg: <img src="images/01.jpg" border="0" rel="shadow" width="140" /> So, how to get width in cross-browser way which is not defined in width attribute of elements? • Jquery JCarousel, itemLastInCallback how to change out the controls

  I am new to js and Jquery other than plug and play scripts and plugins. I have Jcarousel running great on a Ruby on Rails site and I need to use the itemLastInCallback method to change out the next and prev buttons. Basically if the end user clicks through to the last item in a carousel, the next button would become a link to the next carousel. <%= link_to (image_tag 'scroll_right.png'), @next_group % is the code I need to render in the end. So something like: if this is not the last item in the carousel button is normal jcarousel next button else <%= link_to (image_tag 'scroll_right.png'), @next_group % end is there a best way to do this? am I on the right track?

I want to disable this and make a button / icon inside .right_box which the user have to click on to drag the box. Is this possible?

Since I have 3 textboxes that all do the same thing, I'd like this function to work for all three. • jquery-Ajax call on tornado handlers waits for pervious ajax call to return

  Hey All. I recently started testing TornadoWeb for a home-project, which uses jquery getJSON function to call my tornado handlers. And found something strange, which i seek an explanation for. I fire an ajax request for Handler1 on tornado, and in some cases request for Handler2 is initiated before Handler1 returns. It appears from development-server logs, and firebug console-debugging, that Handler2 request waits for Handler1 request to finish, and then return. So basically, XHR call is waiting for earlier XHRs. They are supposed to be asynchronous/non-blocking right?? Or am i missing something. You can check the test-case environment called testtornado at http://github.com/harshh/Harsh-Projects/ with main.py as server triggering file. I would appreciate help from anyone who can throw some light on this.

  So I'm using the ProgressBar JQuery plugin (http://t.wits.sg/misc/jQueryProgressBar/demo.php) to create some static progress bars. What I want to achieve is to from this markup: <span class="progress-bar">10 / 100</span> produce a progress bar with maximum value of 100 and current value of 10. I am using html() method to get the contents of the span and then split() to get the two numbers: $(document).ready(function() { $(".progress-bar").progressBar($(this).html().split(' / ')[0], { max: $(this).html().split(' / ')[1], textFormat: 'fraction' }); }); That doesn't work, any suggestions? I'm pretty sure the problem is with $(this).html().split(' / ')[0] and $(this).html().split(' / ')[1], is that a correct syntax?

• JavaScript autocomplete upon typing

  Right guys, all autocomplete plugins and functions that I've found, they only update upon keyup/down, etc. This is fine but the search only begins occurring once the user has stopped typing and if they are typing a phrase or word, the script is unable to instantly start suggesting, etc. I know this'll be a very simple fix or suggestion for some of you guys, so any help would be greatly appreciated as to how I can convert it to be instantly as a key is pressed.   Hello, I am wondering if you guys know different approach to disable an event for a while. Let me elaborate this more : Lets say I have a div or button which has a subscriber to its onclick event. To prevent the double click when the the methods are doing some ajax things, these are the some of the ways we can do : Disable the button till the method finishes its job Unbind till the methods finishes its job and then bind it again. Use some kind of flagging system like boolean so it will prevent method from working more than once. So is there any other ways, maybe some javascript tricks or jQuery tricks which is more efficient and better practice. Thanks in advance.

• Use of "setTimeout()" in my jQuery Expression

  I'm trying to add the JavaScript function setTimeout() to my jQuery expression. Without the setTimeout() my function loads a partial view with updated information when I enter text into my textbox. But, it loads the information with every keystroke. My logic is that if I can put in a timer then when the user stops typing, a second later the data is updated.   Hi everyone! Here's the situation I have a webpage which has one drop down called prefer. I wanted the user to be able to choose one option and then have a link next to it called "Add" which generates another textbox with the same options, i was going to use jquery to show an additional drop down. But if possible I wanted to put the select box in an array and then loop through this process infinitely. so I could call select name="prefer[]" and somehow put in a variable which increases. Afterwards, I could use php to cycle through the array and utilize each one. Could I do this with Javascript somehow?

  Hi Team, Using: http://home.aland.net/sundman/ to split a complex form in to 4 steps. As well as as the 'next, back and submit' form buttons, I have created a menu above the form: step 1, step 2, step 3, step 4 linking to the hash tags #: #, #1, #2, #3 so the visitor can decide which step they want to view / edit. This works fine in firefox, but in IE and Chrome it does not seem to work. Anyone have experience with hte jQuery history plugin that can tell me the best way to accomplish this? I would like to link to the form but it is in a password protected area and subject to our NDA. If need be I could try and replicate the issue with a form on our server and link here. Thanks, Jack

• Change the get parameters in the address bar in jquery

  when you search on yelp, by adding additional search parameters the page does not reload. I think the results are changed based on ajax, however when you click on one of the restaruants and go back to the previous page. All of the parameters are still there. I noticed the address bars change as the parameters change. I found http://www.asual.com/jquery/address/ but it seems to add # at the end of the url. Is there a way to make it simply like index.php?xyz=1 without refreshing the page

• JQuery, ASCX and webmethods not seems to be working

  Hi all, I have a cascading dropdown (3 of them) Type, Categories and Sub Categories. Type loads first and upon selection of Type, Category load and selection of Category, Sub Category loads. Also i have 2 buttons, "Add Category" and "Add Sub Category" Upon clicking on these buttons, i call a JQuery Modal Form to add them. I use Webmethod in code behind to add them to database This works perfectly in ASPX page. Since I need use this in 3-4 pages, i thought of making the above as User control (ASCX). When i try to use this in a webpage, the webmethods in ASCX don't get called. Is my approach correct? what should be done for my scenario lOoking forward for your suggestions.
