jQuery Thickbox and Google Maps Extinfowindow

I am trying to place a link into an Extinfowindow that obtains its content through an Ajax call. So, I click on a push pin marker, up pops the Extinfowindow with my ThickBox link in it, and when I inspect the DOM for the entire page at that point, I can see the element correctly showing up with the "thickbox" class. The link looks like this <A class="thickbox" title="" href="http://localhost:1293/Popup.aspx? height=200&width=300&modal=true">Modal Popup</A> However, when I click on it, it does a full refresh and the target page loads in the browser, not in a popup. It seems that when the <A> for the Thickbox control is injected into the DOM after the initial load, jQuery is no longer able to do its magic and intercept the anchor link request. Does anybody have thoughts about how to do this better?

MVC2 jQuery Validation & Custom Business Objects

I have an application that was built with MVC1 and am in the process of updating to MVC2. I have a custom DLL and BLL, of which the model objects are custom business objects that reside in a separate class library. I was using this validation library in MVC1, which worked great. It worked great, but I want to eliminate the extra plugins and use what is available. Rather than use the Enterprise Library validation attributes I have converted to using DataAnnotations and want to use jQuery validation as the client side validation. My questions are: 1) Is the MicrosoftMvcJQueryValidation JS file still required, where do I download. 2) How to you automate the validation to views that do not have models, IE Membership sign in page? 3) How to you add model errors in a custom business layer. IE8 + Jquery ajax call giving parsererror : for json data which seems valid in Firefox

The ajax call works fine in FF. the data returned is in JSON here is an example from FF firebug - {"noProfiles": "No profiles have been created, lets start now !"} When I try to print the error in IE8 (& in compatibility modes as well), it says "parsererror". But the output seems to be valid JSON. Here is the ajax function call I'm making. Cross-domain jQuery using YQL gives robots.txt error

On the page http://qxlapps.dk/test.htm I am trying to perform an Ajax load from another domain, qxlapp.dk. I am using James Padolsey's xdomainajax.js plugin from: http://james.padolsey.com/javascript/cross-domain-requests-with-jquery/ When I open my test page, I get no output, but FireBug shows the JSON result, including the error message: "forbidden":"robots.txt for the domain disallows crawling for url: http://qxlapp.dk/projects/dagens_kup/show.php". The robots.txt on the qxlapp.dk domain contains the following: User-agent: Yahoo Pipes 2.0 Allow: / User-agent: * Allow: / So I don't see what the problem is? Shouldn't it pull the page just fine with those settings?

jQuery datepicker causes page overflow

I am using the datepicker control from jQuery-ui 1.8. from-date is a text input. I am attaching a very simple datepicker: $('#from-date').datepicker(); This causes the page to overflow (vertical scrollbar), which I am trying to avoid. As soon as I click the from-date, the datepicker control appears, and the scrollbar dissapears. After dismissing the datepicker, the scrollbar doesn't appear anymore. The text field is inside a div that has overflow:auto and a fixed height and width. I suspect it's a z-index issue. What am I doing wrong ? How would I debug this ?

im trying to use the jquery fullcalendar. The event data comes from the server using JSON. My page has a dropdown element and the fullcalendar div. What i need is to refresh the calendar each time the user changes the dropdown. Can't figure out jQuery ajax call parameters

I am learning jQuery and trying the following but the parameters are so foreign to me with all the embedded quotes I think that is my problem. Can someone explain the parameters and where quotes go and possibly rewrite my parameters line? Rename "Event" object in jQuery FullCalendar plug-in

GREAT PLUGIN!!! BUT... choice of word "Event" to mean a "calendar entry" was particularly unfortunate This is a wonderfully well-written plug in, and I've really impressed people here at work with what this thing can do. The documentation is astonishingly thorough and clear. Congratulations to Adam! HOWEVER, this plug-in refers to entries in the calendar as "Events" -- this has caused a lot of confusion in my development team's conversations, because when we use the word "Event" we think of things like onmouseover, click, etc. We would really prefer a term like CalendarEvent or CalendarEntry. I am not all that experienced with jQuery yet, so am wondering if there is a simple way to alias one of those terms to this plug-in's Event/Events object? (I know we could recode the plug-in directly, but our code will then break when we download an update.) Thanks!

jQuery trigger uploadify click event not working in firefox FF

I want to select an option on a drop down box and for this to trigger the uploadify available to jQuery which lets you upload a file. My solution works in IE7 but not FF. When you change the drop down it should show a window to browse for a file to upload. In FF nothing appears. In IE everything works. hi, I'm loading an external js file in the header of my html document and I have 2 questions about it: 1) I've added alert("ok"); in my external file but I cannot see any message. I guess because this file is loaded before the page is completed... or something like this (in the header), right ? 2) Then I added the jQuery code: $(document).ready( function() { alert("ok"); }); but still no signal of life... what am I doing wrong ? thanks

jQuery $.ajax success must be a callback function?

I've created a wrapper function for jQuery's $.ajax() method so I can pass different dataTypes and post variables - like so: function doPost(dType, postData, uri){ $.ajax({ url: SITE_URL + uri, dataType: dType, data: postData, success: function(data){ return data; }); } The problem I'm having is getting the data (which is always JSON) back out. I've tried setting a var ret before the $.ajax() function call and setting it as ret = data in the success function. Am I being stupid about this? If I don't set a success function, will the $.ajax simply return the data? Or is it just success: return data? Or does success require a callback function to handle the data, which could just be return data?

I have a div that I have bound the jQuery hover event to activate a slideDown using slideToggle: <div class="Square"> <div class="RedSquare"></div> <div class="GraySquare"></div> </div> $("div.RedSquare").hover( function() { $(this).siblings("div.GraySquare").slideToggle("fast"); }, function() { $(this).siblings("div.GraySquare").slideToggle("fast"); } ); It toggles a div '.GraySquare' right below it. Basically making a gray box slide down from the red box. The problem I am facing is that when the mouse moves over the gray div the slide toggles up. I want it to remain down when hovering over the red or gray square. Any help is appreciated.

I'm usung the jQuery datepicker. In my "EndDate" textbox I'd like to use the date selected from the the "StartDate" textbox + 1. How do I do this? I tried this but didn't work. In my start date code I had... test = $(this).datepicker('getDate'); testm = new Date(test.getTime()); testm.setDate(testm.getDate() + 1); Then in my end date code I had... minDate: testm, but the end date still made all the days for the month available. Thanks. Edit. I'm curious as to why this doesn't work. In my start date datepicker I have this.. onSelect: function (dateText, inst) test = dateText Why can't I come down into my end date datepicker and say, minDate: test?

setting jQuery .data() within .getJSON callback

I'm doing a couple of .getJSON calls and if any one of them succeeds, I'm trying to set a bool to true so I can then do some other stuff elsewhere on the page. I was trying to use jquery's .data() function, but I don't seem able to set it from inside the .getJSON callback. for example: $('#citations_button').data('citations', false); $.getJSON(apaurl, function(data) { $('#apacite').html("<td class=\"bibInfoLabel\">APA Citation</td><td class=\"bibInfoData\">"+data+"</td>"); $('#citations_button').data('citations', true); }, "html"); // other .getJSONs look like above... console.log("citations? I'm embarrassed by the 'basicness' of this question, but after wasted hours, here goes. In an effort to do something with the jQuery Calculation plugin, I am playing with the basic example of the order form on the plugin site. I want to have the grand total as a form field,rather than text, so I can use the value. The function that calculates and shows the grand total is: function ($this){ // sum the total of the $("[id^=total_item]") selector var sum = $this.sum(); $("#grandTotal").text( // round the results to 2 digits sum.toFixed(2) ); } the total updates on keyup in: <span id="grandTotal"></span> But this does not work with: <input type="text" id="grandTotal" value=""/> Can anyone point me to what I need to add/change to make that work? To call my javascript basic would be a compliment, so please talk to me like I know nothing!

Google Maps & jQuery InfoWindow Replacement

Hi all, So I'm rewriting my first google maps app and I'm looking at how I create info windows on click of a marker and it seems very inefficent to be adding a listener for each. Previously I've used GInfoWindow and EBubble (http://econym.org.uk/gmap/ebubble.htm). I was thinking that I could use jQuery to show a div with dynamic data if I had a hook for each marker to show the window and relevant marker info (pulled from JSON). I can see each marker has a unique id (e.g. mtgt_unnamed_2822) but I'm not sure how to predicte this. Has anyone tried this before or know how to go about it? Thanks Denis
