Possible causes are: - The NHibernate.Bytecode provider assembly was not deployed. - The typeName used to initialize the 'proxyfactory.factory_class' property of the session-factory section is not well formed. I have read and read I am referecning the All the assemblies listed and I am at a total loss as what to try next. Castle.ActiveRecord.dll Castle.DynamicProxy2.dll Iesi.Collections.dll log4net.dll NHibernate.dll NHibernate.ByteCode.Castle.dll I am 100% sure the assembly is in the bin. Anyone have any ideas?

• F# Powerpack's Metadata doesn't recognize FSharp.Core as an F# library

  Here's my test code to isolate the problem: open Microsoft.FSharp.Metadata [<EntryPoint>] let main args = let core = FSharpAssembly.FromFile @"C:\Program Files\FSharp-2.0.0.0\\bin\FSharp.Core.dll" let core2 = FSharpAssembly.FSharpLibrary let core3 = System.AppDomain.CurrentDomain.GetAssemblies() |> Seq.find (fun a -> a.FullName.Contains "Core") |> FSharpAssembly.FromAssembly core.Entities |> Seq.iter (printfn "%A") 0 All three lets should give me the same FSharpAssembly. Instead, all 3 throw an exception that FSharp.Core is not an F# assembly (details below, re-formatted for readability). Two more clues: Using the core3 method, I get the same error for the test F# assembly itself I don't get the error at FSI after doing #r "@C:\Program Files...\FSharp.Powerpack.Metadata.dll". Any ideas? I'm using Visual Studio 2008, F# 2.0 and F# Powerpack 2.0.0.0 (May 20, 2010) release on an oldish XP VM, I think it's updated to SP3 though. (I got the error this morning with Powerpack 1.9.9.9, so I upgraded to 2.0.0.0. I thought that if 1.9.9.9 doesn't recognise F#'s 2.0.0.0's assemblies, then maybe bugfixes in Powerpack 2.0.0.0 would help.) • Unity doesn't work

  Yesterday I've implemented the code: CustomerProductManager productsManager = container.Resolve<CustomerProductManager>(); It was compilable and working. Today (probably I've modified something I am constantly getting the error: The non-generic method 'Microsoft.Practices.Unity.IUnityContainer.Resolve(System.Type, string, params Microsoft.Practices.Unity.ResolverOverride[])' cannot be used with type arguments My collegue has the same source code and doesn't have same error. Why? How to resolve the problem? P.S. line "using Microsoft.Practices.Unity;" is present in usings section. I've tried to replace generic version with non-generic one: CustomerProductManager productsManager = (CustomerProductManager)container.Resolve(typeof(CustomerProductManager)); And got another error: No overload for method 'Resolve' takes '1' arguments It seems like one of the assemblies is not referenced.. but which one? I have 2 of them referenced: 1. Microsoft.Practices.Unity.dll 2. Microsoft.Practices.ServiceLocation.dll P.P.S. I've saw similar problem http://unity.codeplex.com/WorkItem/View.aspx?WorkItemId=8205 but it is resolved as "not a bug" Any thought will be helpful

• Instantiate an .aspx that is an embedded resource of an assembly

  I have an ASP.NET (MVC) application in which I would like to load WebForms .aspx files that are embedded as resources in 3rd party assemblies. The reason I want to do this is to make a sort of "plug-in" system where a .dll file can be dropped in a folder and then picked up at runtime to provide additional functionality to the base application. I've gotten the plugin system to work (I'm using MEF) with plugins written in ASP.NET MVC (Views and Controllers), but for plain old ASP.NET (Pages), I've got myself into a bit of a problem. For the execution of the embedded .aspx file (which, in the usual WebForm way Inherits="My.BasePage") I've created a custom VirtualPathProvider, ResourceFile ControllerFactory and PageController. Within the PageController I've overridden the Execute(RequestContext) method and within it I'm trying to compile the .aspx with BuildManager.CreateInstanceFromVirtualPath(virtualPath, type). When doing this, I get the error message "Could not load type 'My.BasePage'", even though I'm giving the BuildManager the System.Type of My.BasePage in the call to CreateInstanceFromVirtualPath. I seem to be stuck at this point. I've tried to Server.Transfer() to the custom VirtualPathProvider handled URL to the same .aspx file, but that fails with the same error message. How can I help BuildManager find out where My.BasePage is defined and how come the Type requiredBaseType parameter of CreateInstanceFromVirtualPath seems to be ignored? I've tried to call BuildManager.AddReferencedAssembly(), but that only fails with "This method can only be called during the application's pre-start initialization stage". MSDN says: "The method must be called during the Application_PreStartInit stage of the application", but I have no such event in my HttpApplication object and find absolutely zero information about it on the internet. Either way, I don't want to be calling BuildManager.AddReferencedAssembly() in or before the Application_Start event, since that makes me have to recycle the whole application to be able to add new plugins to the system. Does anyone have any clues? Any other ideas on how I can "execute" an .aspx file that is embedded as a resource within an assembly through reflection? Can I for instance pre-compile the .aspx file within the same assembly as the base Page class it inherits?

• Using two versions of the same assembly (system.web.mvc) at the same time

  I'm using a content management system whose admin interface uses MVC 1.0. I would like to build the public parts of the site using MVC 2. If I just reference System.Web.Mvc version 2 in my project the admin mode doesn't work as the reference to System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage created by the views in the admin interface is ambiguous: The type 'System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage' is ambiguous: it could come from assembly 'C:\Windows\assembly\GAC_MSIL\System.Web.Mvc\2.0.0.0__31bf3856ad364e35\System.Web.Mvc.dll' or from assembly 'C:\Windows\assembly\GAC_MSIL\System.Web.Mvc\1.0.0.0__31bf3856ad364e35\System.Web.Mvc.dll'. Please specify the assembly explicitly in the type name. I could easily work around this by using binding redirects to specify that MVC 2 should always be used. Unfortunately the content management systems admin mode isn't compatible with MVC 2. I'm not exactly sure why, but I start getting a bunch of null reference exceptions in some of it's actions when I try it and the developers of the CMS have confirmed that it isn't compatible with MVC 2 (yet). The admin interface which is accessed through domain.com/admin is not physically located in webroot/admin but in the program files folder on the server and domain.com/admin is instead routed there using a virtual path provider. Therefor, putting a separate web.config file in the admin folder to specify a different version of System.Web.Mvc for that part of the site isn't an option as that won't fly when using shared hosting. Can anyone see any solution to this problem? Perhaps it's possible to specify that for some assemblies a different version of a referenced assembly should be used?

• How do I use Fluent NHibernate with .NET 4.0?

  I want to learn to use Fluent NHibernate, and I'm working in VS2010 Beta2, compiling against .NET 4, but I'm experiencing some problems. Summary My main problem (at the moment) is that the namespace FluentNHibernate isn't available even though I've imported all the .dll assemblies mentioned in this guide. This is what I've done: 1. I downloaded the Fluent NHibernate source from here, extracted the .zip and opened the solution in VS. A dialog asked me if I wanted to convert the solution to a VS2010 solution, so I did. 2. I then went into each project's properties and configured all of them to compile for .NET 4, and built the entire solution. 3. I copied all the .dll files from /bin/Debug/ in the FluentNHibernate to a new folder on my local hard drive. 4. In my example project, I referenced FluentNHibernate.dll and NHibernate.dll from the new folder. This is my problem: If I right-click on FluentNHibernate in the References list and select "View in Object Browser...", it shows up correctly. Now, when I try to create a mapping class, I can't import FluentNHibernate. This code: using FluentNHibernate.Mapping; namespace FluentNHExample.Mappings { } generates an error on the using statement, saying The type or namespace 'FluentNHibernate' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?). The FluentNHibernate assembly is still in the list of References of my project, but if I try to browse the assembly in Object Browser again, it can't be found. What is causing this?

Link on Codeplex here I want an equivalent to the classic GridView's RowDataBound event, and I can't find any. I tried working with LoadingRow, but it fires every time I scroll. I'm trying to change the background color of certain cells in my grid based on a database values. I'm new to WPF. Should I be using the XAML binding?

• ItemsControl.ItemsSource MVVM performance

  I have an (non-virtualized) ItemsControl that binds its ItemsSource to a ObeservableCollection of ViewModel instances. Now once the large amount Model instances is loaded all the ViewModel complemnents needs to be added to that ObservableCollection. How can I add a large amount of ViewModels without making the UI Thread hang? I suppose the UI Thread hangs because each time a new item is added the ItemsControl needs to update itself and does layout etc. over and over again. Should I suspend the binding add all items and then resume? If so, how? Should I override the ObservableCollection to implement an AddRange so only 1 CollectionChanged Event is fired for adding multiple items? Or alternatively just replace the whole collection? Or is it better to add each items separately and call Dispatcher.Invoke for each item separately? So I would unblock frequently. How do you handle large dynamic lists that can not be virtualized?

• Creating a Sharepoint Development Environment from an Existing Production Environment

  I have very little experience using Sharepoint but a good amount using Visual Studio 2008, SQL Server 2005, Windows Server 2003 and IIS6. I need to create a development environment for a SharePoint 2007 system that will be used internally. The system is already deployed over two servers - one of the servers simply holds the database and everything else is on the other server. We are also using WSS 3.0. I have created a Virtual Machine with all the required software including a clean installation of SharePoint Server 2007 and I wish to use this single Virtual Machine as the development environment. Right now there are no custom assemblies being used on the production server as far as I am aware. There are 3 websites, one over port 80 for user accesss, one over a custom port for central administration, and one over another custom port. Not sure what the last one is for but my blank instance of Sharepoint on my Virtual Machine also has something similar. I attempted to use the STSADM tool to backup and restore these 3 sites from my production environment to my development environment and while the operations completed succesfully, the central administration site in my development environment acted strangely and I could not access port 80 - I did not seem to have correct credentials for it. I suspected that it would not have been so simple so could I please have advice on how to create my development environment so that I can use it to deploy updates to the production one.

I'm finding out that a significant amount of time is being spent by my program on the Count and First methods, so I started to change to .Single, only to find out that there is no such method.   Hello I'm trying to develop business logic for a dynamic site using nusoap on server side (because I need wsdls, and PHP SOAP extension can't generate wsdls), and PHP SOAP extenstion on client side. However, I can't get even login and getRole functions right. When i try to invoke client, I get following message Uncaught SoapFault exception: [Client] looks like we got no XML document in [some paths]... Wsdl does exist on server side, and client does read it (when I put wrong url for wsdl, I get an error). Can anyone help??

• Choosing Between Prism and Caliburn

  I have been using Prism 2.0 for a personal project for a few months now. I have recently heard of Caliburn and am wondering if there are compelling reasons for me to consider that instead. I like Prism's dynamic module loading capability. I intend to build modules for my application and would like to be able to deploy them in a modular manner. Is that also possible with Caliburn? What are the advantages of Caliburn over Prism? (I read that Prism will also have a new version by September 2010 that will leverage .Net 4.0. and am keeping my application flexible to be updated by then as well.)

• C# Assembly.GetTypes() - ReflectionTypeLoadException

  We implement a plugin framework for our application and load plugin assemblies using Assembly.Loadfrom. We then use GetTypes() and further examine the types with each plugin file for supported Interfaces. A path for the plugins is provided by the user and we cycle through each of the files in the folder to see if it (the plugin) supports our plugin interface. If it does, we create an instance, if not we move onto the next file. We build two versions of software from the one code base (appA_1 and appA_2). Loading the plugins works well when the plugins are loaded by the application that was built at the same time as the plugin file. However if we build appA_2 and point to the plugin folder of appA_1, we get an exception when GetTypes() is called. A basic version of our code is; var pluginAssembly = Assembly.LoadFrom(FileName); foreach (var pluginType in pluginAssembly.GetTypes()) { We get a "ReflectionTypeLoadException" exception. This is concerning because we want our application to be able to load the types of any plugin, built by anyone. Is there something we are missing?

• Loaded AS2 SWF into AS3 SWF as AVM1Movie doesn't run any actionscript in the AS2 SWF

  I appreciate loading AS2 into AS3 is never going to be fun, but unfortunately I have to on this one. I'm using the Loader Class in AS3 to load an external AS2 SWF onto the stage as a AVM1Movie Object. Anything that is placed on the stage in the AS2 FLA displays fine, but no ActionScript runs at all. The loaded AS2 SWF has one layer, one frame and a few images in the library but nothing heavy. I've tried stripping everything out of the script other than a simple call to change the text on a dynamic textfield on the stage - still nothing. I have a listener in AS3 waiting for Event.INIT rather than Event.COMPLETE - but neither works. Am I missing something? Anyone else experienced anything similar? It's like it loads but doesn't run.

  Hi all, I´m trying to inspect the types in a silverlight 4 assembly from a .NET 3.5 application. I have loaded the silverlight assembly with a Assembly.ReflectionOnlyLoadFrom sentence. contractsAssembly = Assembly.ReflectionOnlyLoadFrom(contractsAssemblyPath); When the .NET application tries to perform a call to GetTypes(), it throws a ReflectionTypeLoadException. Type[] types = contractsAssembly.GetTypes(); The LoaderExceptions property in the ReflectionTypeLoadException contains a list of exceptions, all of them regarding a problem loading a type that has serialization attributes. Type 'XXXX' in assembly 'YYYY' has method 'OnSerializing' with an incorrect signature for the serialization attribute that it is decorated with. The type XXXX has the following definitions in it: [System.Runtime.Serialization.OnSerializing] public void OnSerializing(System.Runtime.Serialization.StreamingContext context) [System.Runtime.Serialization.OnSerialized] public void OnSerialized(System.Runtime.Serialization.StreamingContext context) [System.Runtime.Serialization.OnDeserializing] public void OnDeserializing(System.Runtime.Serialization.StreamingContext context) [System.Runtime.Serialization.OnDeserialized] public void OnDeserialized(System.Runtime.Serialization.StreamingContext context) I have tried changing the method signature to internal or private, but with no luck. When I perform a GetTypes() call in a silverlight application that inspects this assembly I have no problems, so I thought that this was due to an incompatibility between .NET Framework and Silverlight. However, I see that .NET tools such as Reflector can inspect this Silverlight assembly, so there is a way to inspect Silverlight assemblies with serialization attributes from a .NET applciation.   Hi there, I'm running a tomcat 6, spring, apache cxf webservice, know it is a must to add one third party library to my webapp to fulfill an order. I have jaxb-impl-2.1.12.jar for apache cxf in WEB-INF/lib folder and the new library which contains the JAXB 1.0 runtime. JAXB 2 ist used by apache cxf for dynamic clients (i need them). So is there a possibility to run the webapps with both libraries? • Checkbox not being checked when running function

  I have a checkbox that when it is clicked it submits the form to the server to store the detail. All works fine except that after the form is submitted I update a div to say submitted but the checkbox isn't ticked. The page isn't refreshed of course and upon page refresh it is ticked. I thought I might be able to check the box myself as I'm using jQuery but I have a lot of these checkboxes each with a dynamic name so I'm not sure how I would call them. I thought something like: $('input[name=("favourite" + id)]').attr('checked', true); might work but no luck. If I don't call the function on the checkbox being ticked the checkbox behaves normally. Thanks for anything that could help.

  The directory structure of my Silverlight project is like the following: \Bin - MainModule.xap - \Images --- Image1.png --- Image2.png - \Modules --- SubModule.xap I want to be able to run it through either a web server or through Visual Studio directly (for debugging purposes I want to bypass content downloading). Since Silverlight has no ability to read disk I've resigned myself to the fact that I'm going to have to "download" the XAPs I need whether I'm running locally or not. Problem is if I run the project locally and try to use a WebClient to download a XAP I get an exception: System.Net.WebException: An exception occurred during a WebClient request. ---> System.NotSupportedException: The URI prefix is not recognized. Is there any way (WebClient or otherwise) I can get to my sub-module XAPs when running the Silverlight project directly rather than hitting a web server?

  Hi, everybody! Currently in our project we are using Entity Framework and LINQ. We want to create a search feature where the Client fills different filters but he isn't forced to. To do this "dynamic" query in LINQ, we thought about using the Like operator, searching either for the field, or "%" to get everything if the user didn't fill that field. The joke's on us when we discovered it didn't support Like. After some searching, we read several answers where it's sugested to use StartsWith, but it's useless for us. Is the only solution using something like: ObjectQuery<Contact> contacts = db.Contacts; if (pattern != "") { contacts = contacts.Where(“it.Name LIKE @pattern”); contacts.Parameters.Add(new ObjectParameter(“pattern”, pattern); } However, we'd like to stick with linq only.   Hello! So... here's my story: I'm trying to create a SQL server data extension (to be precise, I'm trying to get some sample code to run) (SSRS2005). I've done the following: Placed the extension assembly into the ReportServer/bin folder. Placed the assembly into the Private Assemblies folder. Modified rsreportserver.config in, and added the assembly info to the data section. Modified rssrvpolicy.config, and added a code group for the assembly with Full Trust. Modified RSReportDesigner.config in PrivateAssemblies. Added the assembly to the data and the designer sections, specifying the generic query designer. Modified RSPreviewPolicy.config. Added the assembly with Full Trust. The new Data Source type is available for selection, but when I try to view the dataset I get this error: The data extension DataSet could not be loaded. Check the configuration file RSReportDesigner.config. The location of the assembly is configured properly (I think), because I've added logging code and I can see that the constructor of the Connection object is being called. In fact, I've added logging code to every method of every class in the assembly, and as far as I can tell the failure occurs right after the connection object's constructor is called. Any ideas on how I might proceed to debug this? Thanks alot!

  Is there a way to store a conversion strategy (for converting some bytes) into a database and then execute it on the run time. If one were to store a complete java file, you would need to compile it, store the class and some how inject into the already running system. I am not sure how this would be possible. But using some kind of dynamic language on JVM would be nice. I see an example of execution of groovy from within spring context here http://www.devx.com/tips/Tip/42789 but this is still static in nature as application context contains the reference to the implementation and cannot be changed by database. Perhaps with JavaConfig of context it is possible. I am exploring options now, specifically with Spring 3.0. Your suggestions in any direction would be welcome.

• How to break WinDbg in an anonymous method?

  Title kinda says it all. The usual SOS command !bpmd doesn't do a lot of good without a name. Some ideas I had: dump every method, then use !bpmd -md when you find the corresponding MethodDesc not practical in real world usage, from what I can tell. Even if I wrote a macro to limit the dump to anonymous types/methods, there's no obvious way to tell them apart. use Reflector to dump the MSIL name doesn't help when dealing with dynamic assemblies and/or Reflection.Emit. Visual Studio's inability to read local vars inside such scenarios is the whole reason I turned to Windbg in the first place... set the breakpoint in VS, wait for it to hit, then change to Windbg using the noninvasive trick attempting to detach from VS causes it to hang (along with the app). I think this is due to the fact that the managed debugger is a "soft" debugger via thread injection instead of a standard "hard" debugger. Or maybe it's just a VS bug specific to Silverlight (would hardly be the first I've encountered). set a breakpoint on some other location known to call into the anonymous method, then single-step your way in my backup plan, though I'd rather not resort to it if this Q&A reveals a better way

  How can I pass in the current datetime parameter to a SOAP request? I know you can pass in parameters by adding a datasource to the web test project and reference it like this {{DataSource.TableName.FieldName}}. But I want to pass in current datetime parameter as a dynamic value (something like DateTime.Now). How do I go about doing this?
