  • How does Google App Engine precompile Java ?

    - by Thilo
App Engine uses a "precompilation" process with the Java bytecode of an app to enhance the performance of the app in the Java runtime environment. Precompiled code functions identically to the original bytecode. Is there any detailed information what this does?

  • Google App Engine - Figure out the time the current request reached the app engine

    - by Spines
Is there a way I can figure out the time the current request reached the app engine? For example a user might make a request to my app, but due to app engine latencies my code might not start handling the request until one second later, is there a way I can figure out that the user has already had to wait one second? The reason I want to know how to do this is because I want to do different things based on if the user already had to wait. If the user already had to wait a significant amount of time I will just serve them a page out of the cache, if the user hasn't had to wait yet then I will serve them a page which takes a while to render.

  • Get non-overlapping dates ranges for prices history data

    - by Anonymouse
Hello, Let's assume that I have the following table: CREATE TABLE [dbo].[PricesHist]( [Product] varchar NOT NULL, [Price] [float] NOT NULL, [StartDate] [datetime] NOT NULL, [EndDate] [datetime] NOT NULL ) INSERT [dbo].[PricesHist] ([Product], [Price], [StartDate], [EndDate]) VALUES (N'Apples', 4.9, CAST(0x00009D2C00000000 AS DateTime), CAST(0x00009D2C00000000 AS DateTime)) INSERT [dbo].[PricesHist] ([Product], [Price], [StartDate], [EndDate]) VALUES (N'Apples', 4.9, CAST(0x00009D2D00000000 AS DateTime), CAST(0x00009D2D00000000 AS DateTime)) INSERT [dbo].[PricesHist] ([Product], [Price], [StartDate], [EndDate]) VALUES (N'Apples', 2.5, CAST(0x00009D2E00000000 AS DateTime), CAST(0x00009D2E00000000 AS DateTime)) INSERT [dbo].[PricesHist] ([Product], [Price], [StartDate], [EndDate]) VALUES (N'Apples', 4.9, CAST(0x00009D3000000000 AS DateTime), CAST(0x00009D3000000000 AS DateTime)) INSERT [dbo].[PricesHist] ([Product], [Price], [StartDate], [EndDate]) VALUES (N'Apples', 4.9, CAST(0x00009D3100000000 AS DateTime), CAST(0x00009D3100000000 AS DateTime)) INSERT [dbo].[PricesHist] ([Product], [Price], [StartDate], [EndDate]) VALUES (N'Apples', 4.9, CAST(0x00009D3400000000 AS DateTime), CAST(0x00009D3400000000 AS DateTime)) INSERT [dbo].[PricesHist] ([Product], [Price], [StartDate], [EndDate]) VALUES (N'Apples', 2.5, CAST(0x00009D3500000000 AS DateTime), CAST(0x00009D3500000000 AS DateTime)) INSERT [dbo].[PricesHist] ([Product], [Price], [StartDate], [EndDate]) VALUES (N'Apples', 4.9, CAST(0x00009D3600000000 AS DateTime), CAST(0x00009D3600000000 AS DateTime)) INSERT [dbo].[PricesHist] ([Product], [Price], [StartDate], [EndDate]) VALUES (N'Apples', 4.9, CAST(0x00009D3700000000 AS DateTime), CAST(0x00009D3700000000 AS DateTime)) INSERT [dbo].[PricesHist] ([Product], [Price], [StartDate], [EndDate]) VALUES (N'Apples', 4.9, CAST(0x00009D3800000000 AS DateTime), CAST(0x00009D3800000000 AS DateTime)) INSERT [dbo].[PricesHist] ([Product], [Price], [StartDate], [EndDate]) VALUES (N'Apples', 4.9, CAST(0x00009D3A00000000 AS DateTime), CAST(0x00009D3A00000000 AS DateTime)) INSERT [dbo].[PricesHist] ([Product], [Price], [StartDate], [EndDate]) VALUES (N'Apples', 4.9, CAST(0x00009D3B00000000 AS DateTime), CAST(0x00009D3B00000000 AS DateTime)) INSERT [dbo].[PricesHist] ([Product], [Price], [StartDate], [EndDate]) VALUES (N'Apples', 2.5, CAST(0x00009D3C00000000 AS DateTime), CAST(0x00009D3C00000000 AS DateTime)) INSERT [dbo].[PricesHist] ([Product], [Price], [StartDate], [EndDate]) VALUES (N'Apples', 4.9, CAST(0x00009D3D00000000 AS DateTime), CAST(0x00009D3D00000000 AS DateTime)) INSERT [dbo].[PricesHist] ([Product], [Price], [StartDate], [EndDate]) VALUES (N'Apples', 4.9, CAST(0x00009D3E00000000 AS DateTime), CAST(0x00009D3E00000000 AS DateTime)) INSERT [dbo].[PricesHist] ([Product], [Price], [StartDate], [EndDate]) VALUES (N'Apples', 4.9, CAST(0x00009D3F00000000 AS DateTime), CAST(0x00009D3F00000000 AS DateTime)) INSERT [dbo].[PricesHist] ([Product], [Price], [StartDate], [EndDate]) VALUES (N'Apples', 4.9, CAST(0x00009D4100000000 AS DateTime), CAST(0x00009D4100000000 AS DateTime)) INSERT [dbo].[PricesHist] ([Product], [Price], [StartDate], [EndDate]) VALUES (N'Apples', 4.9, CAST(0x00009D4200000000 AS DateTime), CAST(0x00009D4200000000 AS DateTime)) INSERT [dbo].[PricesHist] ([Product], [Price], [StartDate], [EndDate]) VALUES (N'Apples', 2.5, CAST(0x00009D4300000000 AS DateTime), CAST(0x00009D4300000000 AS DateTime)) INSERT [dbo].[PricesHist] ([Product], [Price], [StartDate], [EndDate]) VALUES (N'Apples', 4.9, CAST(0x00009D4400000000 AS DateTime), CAST(0x00009D4400000000 AS DateTime)) INSERT [dbo].[PricesHist] ([Product], [Price], [StartDate], [EndDate]) VALUES (N'Apples', 4.9, CAST(0x00009D4500000000 AS DateTime), CAST(0x00009D4500000000 AS DateTime)) INSERT [dbo].[PricesHist] ([Product], [Price], [StartDate], [EndDate]) VALUES (N'Apples', 4.9, CAST(0x00009D4600000000 AS DateTime), CAST(0x00009D4600000000 AS DateTime)) INSERT [dbo].[PricesHist] ([Product], [Price], [StartDate], [EndDate]) VALUES (N'Apples', 4.9, CAST(0x00009D4800000000 AS DateTime), CAST(0x00009D4800000000 AS DateTime)) INSERT [dbo].[PricesHist] ([Product], [Price], [StartDate], [EndDate]) VALUES (N'Apples', 2.5, CAST(0x00009D4A00000000 AS DateTime), CAST(0x00009D4A00000000 AS DateTime)) As you can see, there are two prices on that month for Apples. 4.90 and 2.50. In order to tidy this table up, I need to get this information as a date range rather than a row per day as it currently is. I can obviously do this with Min and Max aggregates easily but the ranges overlap and other business code expect non-overlapping ranges. I also tried to achieve this with self joins and row_number(), but without much success... Here is what I'm trying to achieve as the output: Product | StartDate | EndDate | Price ------------------------------------------- Apples | 01 Mar 2010 | 02 Mar 2010 | 4.90 Apples | 03 Mar 2010 | 03 Mar 2010 | 2.50 Apples | 05 Mar 2010 | 09 Mar 2010 | 4.90 Apples | 10 Mar 2010 | 10 Mar 2010 | 2.50 Apples | 11 Mar 2010 | 16 Mar 2010 | 4.90 Apples | 17 Mar 2010 | 17 Mar 2010 | 2.50 Apples | 18 Mar 2010 | 23 Mar 2010 | 4.90 Apples | 24 Mar 2010 | 24 Mar 2010 | 2.50 Apples | 25 Mar 2010 | 30 Mar 2010 | 4.90 Apples | 31 Mar 2010 | 31 Mar 2010 | 2.50 What would please be the best approach to get this done? Thanks a lot in advance,

  • Google maps API : custom infowindow : V2 : Input element not clickable : G_MAP_FLOAT_PANE

    - by PlanetUnknown
I'm trying to make a custom infowindow. Version = 2. I have added my DIV to the map as follows - $("#infoWindowClass").appendTo(map.getPane(G_MAP_MARKER_MOUSE_TARGET_PANE)); The infoWindowClass is - #infoWindowClass { position:absolute; padding:10px; height: 155px; width: 225px; background-color: #E7F8CD; color: #3F3F3F; border:0.5px solid #8D8D8D; font-size:80%; } Per documentation, this is above all other DIV layers. This DIV has two input fields, however I can't click on any of them. I manually added the z-index to 990 for this DIV but the input fields are still not clickable. Any pointers ?

  • Javascript errors from Google Adsense

    - by Arjun
Hey there, On several of my adsense running sites, I have been getting the following errors: Unable to post message to [http://]googleads.g.doubleclick.net. Domains, protocols and ports must match. (from the Chrome javascript console) The ads seem to show properly and it doesn't affect my native javascript code. However sometimes these errors seem to slow down page loading. How can I fix this problem? (I modified the URLs to let me post this as I'm a new user)

  • XHR readyState = 4 but Status = 0 in Google Chrome Browser

    - by Jay
Hello i'v got a strange Problem with an AJAX call on my site. I make a simple AJAX call to a Script on my site. But the AJAX call fails with readState=4 and Staus = 0. There's no cross domain problem because the script i want to call is on my server. $.ajax({ type:"GET", url: 'http://mydomain.com/test.php', success : function(response){ console.log(response); }, error : function(XHR){ console.log(arguments); } }); I 've googled a lot of sites but there seems to be no solution for that!

  • jQuery Thickbox and Google Maps Extinfowindow

    - by cdonner
I am trying to place a link into an Extinfowindow that obtains its content through an Ajax call. So, I click on a push pin marker, up pops the Extinfowindow with my ThickBox link in it, and when I inspect the DOM for the entire page at that point, I can see the element correctly showing up with the "thickbox" class. The link looks like this <A class="thickbox" title="" href="http://localhost:1293/Popup.aspx? height=200&width=300&modal=true">Modal Popup</A> However, when I click on it, it does a full refresh and the target page loads in the browser, not in a popup. It seems that when the <A> for the Thickbox control is injected into the DOM after the initial load, jQuery is no longer able to do its magic and intercept the anchor link request. Does anybody have thoughts about how to do this better?

  • iPhone Store Kit returning invalid product ID errors

    - by EToreo
Hello, I am trying to test In App Purchases on my iPhone and running into a problem where the product IDs I request information for end up being returned to me as invalid product IDs in the "didRecieveResponse" method. I have: Created an in store product associated with this app. It's bundle ID matches everything else. It has been cleared for sale and approved by the developer. Made sure my new provisioning profile has in store app purchases enabled and it has the full app name: "com.domain.appname" Made sure this is the provisioning profile being used to sign the app to my iPhone. Made sure that "com.domain.appname" is the app ID used to build the provisioning profile. Made sure that "com.domain.appname" is used in my plist file as the bundle identifier. Everything seems to be in place, however I still get my products returned to me as invalid IDs. This is the code I am using: - (void)requestProductData { SKProductRequest *request = [[SKProductsRequest alloc] initWithProductIdentifiers: [NSSet setWithObject: @"com.domain.appname.productid"]]; request.delegate = self; [request start]; } - (void)productsRequest:(SKProductsRequest *)request didReceiveResponse:(SKProductsResponse *)response { NSArray *myProducts = response.products; NSArray *myInvalidProducts = response.invalidProductIdentifiers; for(int i = 1; i < myInvalidProducts.count; ++i) { std::cout <<"invalid product id = " << [[myInvalidProducts objectAtIndex:i] UTF8String] << std::endl; } for(int i = 0; i < myProducts.count; ++i) { SKProduct * myProduct = [myProducts objectAtIndex:i]; std::cout << "Product Info:" << std::endl; std::cout << "\tlocalizedTitle = " << [[myProduct localizedTitle] UTF8String] << std::endl; std::cout << "\tlocalizedDescription = " << [[myProduct localizedDescription] UTF8String] << std::endl; std::cout << "\tproductIdentifier = " << [[myProduct productIdentifier] UTF8String] << std::endl; std::cout << "\tprice = " << [[myProduct price] doubleValue] << std::endl; std::cout << "\tpriceLocale = " << [myProduct priceLocale] << std::endl; } [request autorelease]; } All my product IDs show up in the invalid printouts and none of them show up in the "Product Info:" printouts. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated... P.S. Yes, this is built as Objective-c/c++.

  • Tracking Google Analytics events with server side request automation

    - by Esko
I'm currently in the process of programming an utility which generates GA tracking pixel (utm.gif) URL:s based on given parameters. For those of you who are wondering why I'm doing this on the server side, I need to do this server side since the context which I'm going to start tracking simply doesn't support JavaScript and as such ga.js is completely useless to me. I have managed to get it working otherwise quite nicely but I've hit a snag: I can't track events or custom variables because I have no idea how exactly the utme parameter's value should be structured to form a valid event or var type hit. GA's own documentation on this parameter isn't exactly that great, either. I've tried everything from Googling without finding anything (which I find ironic) to reverse engineering ga.js, unfortunately it's minified and quite unreadable because of that. The "mobile" version of GA didn't help either since officially GA mobile doesn't support events nor vars. To summarize, what is the format of the utme parameter for page hit types event and custom variable?

  • search form in html/php via ajax

    - by fusion
i've a search form wherein the database query has been coded in php and the html file calls this php file via ajax to display the results in the search form. the problem is, i would like the result to be displayed in the same form as search.html; yet while the ajax works, it goes to search.php to display the results. search.html: <!DOCTYPE html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"> <script src="scripts/search_ajax.js" type="text/javascript"></script> </head> <body> <form id="submitForm" method="post"> <div class="wrapper"> <div class="field"> <input name="search" id="search" /> </div><br /> <input id="button1" type="submit" value="Submit" class="submit" onclick="run_query();" /><br /> </div> <div id="searchContainer"> </div> </form> </body> </html> if i add action="search.php" to the form tag, it displays the result but on search.php. i'd like it to display on the same form [i.e search.html, and not search.php] if i just add the javascript function [as done above], it displays nothing on search.html

  • Google App Engine (python): TemplateSyntaxError: 'for' statements with five words should end in 'rev

    - by Phil
This is using the web app framework, not Django. The following template code is giving me an TemplateSyntaxError: 'for' statements with five words should end in 'reversed' error when I try to render a dictionary. I don't understand what's causing this error. Could somebody shed some light on it for me? {% for code, name in charts.items %} <option value="{{code}}">{{name}}</option> {% endfor %} I'm rendering it using the following: class GenerateChart(basewebview): def get(self): values = {"datepicker":True} values["charts"] = {"p3": "3D Pie Chart", "p": "Segmented Pied Chart"} self.render_page("generatechart.html", values) class basewebview(webapp.RequestHandler): ''' Base class for all webapp.RequestHandler type classes ''' def render_page(self, filename, template_values=dict()): filename = "%s/%s" % (_template_dir, filename) path = os.path.join(os.path.dirname(__file__), filename) self.response.out.write(template.render(path, template_values))

  • Reverse geocoding with Google Maps API

Any ideas, what could be the problem?

  • Force initial Google Drive sync with a non-empty folder?

    - by Terrance Shaw
I upgraded my iMac with an SSD last night and restored from a Time Capsule backup. Everything is now working substantially zippier and overall better, with the exception of one thing: Google Drive refuses to continue to sync with the Google Drive folder that it'd been using before the upgrade, and I ultimately ended up having to just delete the folder and let it resync from scratch to get past its stubborn error (alternatively, I suppose I could've simply moved the contents, set the path to the now-empty folder, then moved them back). Is there any way to get past this particular issue (for future reference), or is it something that Google put in place to ensure that a new user doesn't go and specify their root drive as the backup destination?

  • Advice needed on best and most efficient practices with developing google apps application...

    - by Ali
Hi guys , I'm getting my feet wet with developing my order management applications for integration with google apps. However there are certain aspects I need to take into consideration prior to proceeding any further. My application is such that it would upload documents to google documents and store contacts in google contacts. It requires such that a single order can have a number of uploaded documents associated with it as well as some contacts associated with it. MY question however is what would be the most efficient way to implement this. I could keep key tables for both contacts and documents which woudl contain just an ID and link to the documents/contacts or their respective identification id on google. Or I could maintain an exact replica of the information on my own database as well as a link to the contact on google. However won't that be too redundant. I don't want my application to be really slow as I'm afraid that everytime I make a call to google docs to retrieve a list of documents or google contacts it would be really slow on my application - or am I getting worried for no reason? Any advice would be most appreciated.

  • MySQL Full-Text Search Across Multiple Tables - Quick/Long Solution?

    - by Kerry
Hello all, I have been doing a bit of research on full-text searches as we realized a series of LIKE statements are terrible. My first find was MySQL full-text searches. I tried to implement this and it worked on one table, failed when I was trying to join multiple tables, and so I consulted stackoverflow's articles (look at the end for a list of the ones I've been to) I didn't see anything that clearly answered my questions. I'm trying to get this done literally in an hour or two (quick solution) but I also want to do a better long term solution. Here is my query: SELECT a.`product_id`, a.`name`, a.`slug`, a.`description`, b.`list_price`, b.`price`, c.`image`, c.`swatch`, e.`name` AS industry FROM `products` AS a LEFT JOIN `website_products` AS b ON (a.`product_id` = b.`product_id`) LEFT JOIN ( SELECT `product_id`, `image`, `swatch` FROM `product_images` WHERE `sequence` = 0) AS c ON (a.`product_id` = c.`product_id`) LEFT JOIN `brands` AS d ON (a.`brand_id` = d.`brand_id`) INNER JOIN `industries` AS e ON (a.`industry_id` = e.`industry_id`) WHERE b.`website_id` = 96 AND b.`status` = 1 AND b.`active` = 1 AND MATCH( a.`name`, a.`sku`, a.`description`, d.`name` ) AGAINST ( 'ashley sofa' ) GROUP BY a.`product_id` ORDER BY b.`sequence` LIMIT 0, 9 The error I get is: Incorrect arguments to MATCH If I remove d.name from the MATCH statement it works. I have a full-text index on that column. I saw one of the articles say to use an OR MATCH for this table, but won't that lose the effectiveness of being able to rank them together or match them properly? Other places said to use UNIONs but I don't know how to do that properly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. In the idea of a long term solution it seems that either Sphinx or Lucene is best. Now by no means and I a MySQL guru, and I heard that Lucene is a bit more complicated to setup, any recommendations or directions would be great. • Google Chrome: JavaScript associative arrays, evaluated out of sequence

    - by Jerry
    Ok, so on a web page, I've got a JavaScript object which I'm using as an associative array. This exists statically in a script block when the page loads: var salesWeeks = { "200911" : ["11 / 2009", "Fiscal 2009"], "200910" : ["10 / 2009", "Fiscal 2009"], "200909" : ["09 / 2009", "Fiscal 2009"], "200908" : ["08 / 2009", "Fiscal 2009"], "200907" : ["07 / 2009", "Fiscal 2009"], "200906" : ["06 / 2009", "Fiscal 2009"], "200905" : ["05 / 2009", "Fiscal 2009"], "200904" : ["04 / 2009", "Fiscal 2009"], "200903" : ["03 / 2009", "Fiscal 2009"], "200902" : ["02 / 2009", "Fiscal 2009"], "200901" : ["01 / 2009", "Fiscal 2009"], "200852" : ["52 / 2008", "Fiscal 2009"], "200851" : ["51 / 2008", "Fiscal 2009"] }; The order of the key/value pairs is intentional, as I'm turning the object into an HTML select box such as this: <select id="ddl_sw" name="ddl_sw"> <option value="">== SELECT WEEK ==</option> <option value="200911">11 / 2009 (Fiscal 2009)</option> <option value="200910">10 / 2009 (Fiscal 2009)</option> <option value="200909">09 / 2009 (Fiscal 2009)</option> <option value="200908">08 / 2009 (Fiscal 2009)</option> <option value="200907">07 / 2009 (Fiscal 2009)</option> <option value="200906">06 / 2009 (Fiscal 2009)</option> <option value="200905">05 / 2009 (Fiscal 2009)</option> <option value="200904">04 / 2009 (Fiscal 2009)</option> <option value="200903">03 / 2009 (Fiscal 2009)</option> <option value="200902">02 / 2009 (Fiscal 2009)</option> <option value="200901">01 / 2009 (Fiscal 2009)</option> <option value="200852">52 / 2008 (Fiscal 2009)</option> <option value="200851">51 / 2008 (Fiscal 2009)</option> </select> ...with code that looks like this (snipped from a function): var arr = []; arr.push( "<select id=\"ddl_sw\" name=\"ddl_sw\">" + "<option value=\"\">== SELECT WEEK ==</option>" ); for(var key in salesWeeks) { arr.push( "<option value=\"" + key + "\">" + salesWeeks[key][0] + " (" + salesWeeks[key][1] + ")" + "<\/option>" ); } arr.push("<\/select>"); return arr.join(""); This all works fine in IE, FireFox and Opera. However in Chrome, the order comes out all weird: <select id="ddl_sw" name="ddl_sw"> <option value="">== SELECT WEEK ==</option> <option value="200852">52 / 2008 (Fiscal 2009)</option> <option value="200908">08 / 2009 (Fiscal 2009)</option> <option value="200906">06 / 2009 (Fiscal 2009)</option> <option value="200902">02 / 2009 (Fiscal 2009)</option> <option value="200907">07 / 2009 (Fiscal 2009)</option> <option value="200904">04 / 2009 (Fiscal 2009)</option> <option value="200909">09 / 2009 (Fiscal 2009)</option> <option value="200903">03 / 2009 (Fiscal 2009)</option> <option value="200905">05 / 2009 (Fiscal 2009)</option> <option value="200901">01 / 2009 (Fiscal 2009)</option> <option value="200910">10 / 2009 (Fiscal 2009)</option> <option value="200911">11 / 2009 (Fiscal 2009)</option> <option value="200851">51 / 2008 (Fiscal 2009)</option> </select> NOTE: This order, though weird, does not change on subsequent refreshes. It's always in this order. So, what is Chrome doing? Some optimization in how it processes the loop? In the first place, am I wrong to rely on the order that the key/value pairs are declared in any associative array? I never questioned it before, I just assumed the order would hold because this technique has always worked for me in the other browsers. But I suppose I've never seen it stated anywhere that the order is guaranteed. Maybe it's not? Any insight would be awesome. Thanks.

  • google appengine local datastore integration testing with spring

    - by mirror303
Hi all, I want to write some integration tests to see how my spring-managed DAO's behave when talking to the appengine datastore. Following the spring manual I will be providing my test-classes with the proper annotations: @RunWith(SpringJUnit4ClassRunner.class) @ContextConfiguration(locations = { "classpath:applicationContext.xml" }) After a lot of browsing I found this blog post dating back to august '09 from somebody doing exactly what I want to achieve. It involves writing a TestEnvironment class that implements ApiProxy.Environment plus talking to ApiProxyLocalImpl. However, if I look at the current docs (for version 1.3.1), it seems that this has been replaced by newing an instance of the framework provided LocalDatastoreServiceTestConfig which is passed to a LocalServiceTestHelper. It is too bad that the appengine docs don't show an example how to do this with JPA because then the spring wiring would be trivial. Trying to follow the route outlined in the blog posting has me running into a compiler messages telling me that classes such as ApiProxyLocalImpl are not visible by me. Hence, there must be a new way of doing it, which probably involves the LocalServiceTestHelper. My question: Does anybody know how? I know I will need to configure an EntityManagerFactory and provide it with the Datastore connection somehow... but how? :)
