  I have an object that needs to be serialised as XML, which contains the following field: List<String> tags = new List<String>(); XStream serialises it just fine (after some aliases) like this: <tags> <string>tagOne</string> <string>tagTwo</string> <string>tagThree</string> <string>tagFour</string> </tags> That's OK as far as it goes, but I'd like to be able to rename the <string> elements to, say, <tag>. I can't see an obvious way to do that from the alias documentation on the XStream site. Am I missing something obvious?

  Well, when I'm trying to use 'inclusion' in Django, I met some confused problems that I can't solve it by myself. There is the structures for my project. MyProject--- App1--- __init__.py models.py test.py urls.py views.py App2--- ... template--- App1--- some htmls App2--- ... templatetags--- __init__.py inclusion_test.py manage.py urls.py __init__.py settings.py I have registered templatetags folder in the settings.py (Both in Installed APPS & TEMPLATE_DIRS). But when I want to use {% load inclusion_test %} in my html, it raise an exception like this: 'inclusion_cld_tags' is not a valid tag library: Could not load template library from django.templatetags.inclusion_cld_tags, No module named inclusion_cld_tags I think there is nothing wrong with my import work, how can I do with that?   I have the following test in my Rails Application: it "should validate xml" do builder = Builder::XmlMarkup.new builder.server(:name => "myServer", :ip => "192.168.1.1").should == "<server name=\"myServer\" ip=\"192.168.1.1\"/>" end The problem is that this test passes sometimes, because the order of the xml tag attributes is unpredictable. Is there a way to force this order? Is there any other easy way to build xml? This example is simplified, I have a big XML. My problem is that I want to do an integration test, which compares a WebService call with a fixed XML file. Otherwise, I would have to parse the xml and verify element by element in the XML.

• HTML 5 Canvas - Get pixel data for a path

  I wonder if is there any way I can get pixel data for the currently drawn path in the canvas tag. I can calculate the pixel data on my own when drawing simple shapes like square or a line, but things get messy with more complicated shapes like ellipse or even a simple circle. The reason i'm asking this is because I'm working on a web application which involves sending canvas pixels data to the server when I add a path to the canvas. The server needs to keep it's own copy of the entire canvas, and I really don't want to send the ENTIRE canvas image every single change, but only the delta for efficiency reasons... Thanks.

• Any difference between lazy loading Javascript files vs. placing just before </body>

  Looked around, couldn't find this specific question discussed. Pretty sure the difference is negligible, just curious as to your thoughts. Scenario: All Javascript that doesn't need to be loaded before page render has been placed just before the closing </body> tag. Are there any benefits or detriments to lazy loading these instead through some Javascript code in the head that executes when the DOM load/ready event is fired? Let's say that this only concerns downloading one entire .js file full of functions and not lazy loading several individual files as needed upon usage. Hope that's clear, thanks.

  My UI is not updating when I expect it to. The application displays "projects" using a view similar to iTunes -- a source list on the left lets you filter a list (NSTableView) on the right. My filters update properly when they are examining any simple field (like name, a string), but not for arrays (like tags). I'm removing a tag from one of my objects (from an NSMutableArray field called "tags") and I expect it to disappear from the list because it no longer matches the predicate that is bound to my table's NSArrayController.   Hi, I have a bunch of custom controls based on a SkinnableContainer. When adding the control at design time, I can specify a skin by using the skinClass attribute on the tag. I need to add some of these elements during runtime, and I can't figure out how to specify the skinClass for my controls. eg. var something:CustomThing = new CustomThing(); /* mistery code here to attach the skin ? */ addElement(something); How do I do this?   I do not understand how the DefaultProperty Metadata tag work or what it signifies. I've read the MSDN and went through the sample but I find it confusing. • Linux: Ways to communicate with kernel module from user space.

  Hello, What are the ways to communicate with a kernel module from user space? By communication i mean sending information and commands between the module and a user space process. I currently know of two way: open/close/read/write/ioctl on published device node. read/write on exported and hooked /proc file. More specifically, can someone advice the best way to communicate with a kernel module that does not actually drives any hardware and therefore should not be littering /dev with stub nodes that exists solely for ioctl calls? I mostly need to check its various status variables and send it a block of data with a request type tag and see if the request succeeded. Inso.

  Hi, I'm trying to use vssadd task to add a tree of source files to a recent created project on VSS. But it happens to be adding only the folder tree, all files missing. <vsscp vsspath="$/DEV/APL_${version}" ssdir="${vssapl}" serverPath="${vsssvr}"/> The vssadd task displays the name of the folders it's creating: ... (vssadd) $/DEV/APL_0.0.10c/src/domain: (vssadd) $/DEV/APL_0.0.10c/src/mbeans: (vssadd) $/DEV/APL_0.0.10c/src/service: ... The script runs successfully but the files never get in the repository. Trying to use wilcards are no good, the task says it found no matching files and ss returns with a code of 100: <vssadd ssdir="${vssapl}" localPath="C:\Workspace\APL_Build*.*" recursive="true" serverPath="${vsssvr}" comment="Build ${versao} at ${to.timestamp}"/ I've noticed that vssadd does not accept fileset tag either, so I'm kind of lost here. • CSS/HTML: Highlighting the "full width avaialble" to a list item

  I'm working on a website for a small law office. In the side-menu, I'm trying to highlight the "current page". I have tried changing the background of the LI, but this doesn't quite do the trick; the list item doesn't spread to the full width of the menu, so it looks bad. Here's a jfiddle. I would like the yellow section to highlight like the pink section is highlighted: filling up the full vertical and horizontal space, not just highlighting the text. Any suggestions on how to do this? I've included the style tag in the html just for example, obviously, and my real solution will be a little different when it's done. But I can't move forward until I figure out how to somehow highlight the entire line.

• Generating changelogs from commit-comments - bad idea?

  I work for a small company (<10 developers) where we use Svn and to some extent Git. We have no release system implemented. We don't tag our applications with a release numbers so as you can imagine, we don't keep track of changes between releases very well. With this in mind I've been thinking about generating changelogs from the commit-comments. It doesn't have to be an awful idea if you implement guidelines for how to write comments. Or am I fooling myself thinking that colleagues will follow these guidelines? Most of them don't bother adding comments today but I'm hoping that will change if they become aware of how to formulate themselves and that you don't have to comment on every single commit. Or would we it be more wise to gather information from our bug/project managing software and write the changelogs manually (which unfortunately is something nobody wants to do)?

It doesn't use iframe which displays a spinning throbber and a busy mouse cursor. It doesn't use responseText on xmlhttprequest when readyState = 3 which is known to be broken on Opera. I tried seeing how it was done in mibbit and etherpad, and I found that they both use long-polling.

• Is it possible to modify ASP.NET to no longer require runat="server"?

  I know why runat="server" is currently required (ASP.NET why runat="server"), but the consensus is that it should not be required if you incorporate a simple default into the design (I agree of course). Would it be possible to modify, extend, decompile and recreate, intercept or otherwise change the behavior of how ASP.NET parses ASPX and ASCX files so that runat="server" would no longer be required? For instance, I assume that a version of Mono could be branched to accomplish this goal. • Longer Form Fields in Drupal

  I have a really silly problem that has cost me a load of time already. I have created a content template with a URL in there. When I look at the HTML code for it, I see a big fat "maxlength=256" in the form tag. I'd like to expand the length of this field, because my customer wishes to enter really long links (over 500 characters). Any idea how I can change it? When I do a generic search through the code I see so many occurences of 256, but the length might just as well be in the database somewhere. I have of course made the database field a longer varchar (1024 sounded poetic to me), so that's something I don't have to worry about. I think it's silly, but the customer's always right, as we know. I am using Drupal 6.14.

  Hi there. I'm working on an asp.net app and I have some controls that are created dinamically on the OnInit event. One of that controls is an asp button that has been working fine until now. When I add a ScriptManager to my page, that same button is unnable to postback. It's only working if a take the ScriptManager out. has anything like this ever appened to somebody else? Am I invalidating the page somehow? • Implementing Multitasking on an iPhone/iOS4 Web App

  I am looking to build a web app that implements background audio and fast app switching. These features work out of the box, when run as regular Safari web pages, but as soon as you add the web-app-capable tag, and try to run in full screen mode, this functionality breaks. I did some testing and even the most basic web app will reload every time when you switch back to it. And seeing as it's a web app, we can't exactly implement the multitasking API. Has anyone found a work around? This isn't a deal-breaker, as you can just avoid full screen mode, but then you also lose the ability to use your own icon in the app switch tray. Perhaps this explains a lack of full screen mode in YouTube's new web app....
