  • Why am I losing sessions when running in StateServer mode?

    I have checked the servers (Win Server 2003) application event logs for the following problem http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308097 which doesn't show up. It just appears that sessions drop randomly for random users It's a single server setup, no web farms and no load balancing Even though the issue I point to above doesn't occur in the logs, is it worth increasing the stateNetworkTimeout attribute anyway? The configuration at the moment is simply <sessionState mode="StateServer" cookieless="false" stateConnectionString="tcpip=localhost:42424" timeout="60"/>

    In SQL, the name Join gives an idea of "merging" or a sense of "union", making something bigger. But in fact, as in the other post http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2706051/in-sql-a-join-is-actually-an-intersection-and-it-is-also-a-linkage-or-a-sidew it turns out that a Join (Inner Join) is actually an Intersection. So if we think of Join = Inner Join = Intersect Join Left Outer Join = Left Union Join Full Outer Join = Full Union Join = Union Join then we always get a feel of what's happening, and maybe never forget what they are easily. In a way, we can think of Intersect as "making it less", therefore it is excluding something. That's why the name "Join" won't go with the idea of "Intersect". But in fact, both Intersect and Union can be thought of as: Union: bringing something together and merge them unconditionally. Intersect: bringing something together and merge them based on some condition. so the "bringing something together" is probably what "Join" is all about. It is like, Intersection is a "half glass of water" -- we can thinking of it as "excluding something" or as "bringing something together and accepting the common ones". So if the word "Intersect Join" is used, maybe a clear picture is there, and "Union Join" can be a clear picture too. Maybe the word "Inner Join" and "Outer Join" is very clear when we use SQL a lot. Somehow, the word "Outer" tends to give a feeling that it is "outside" and excluding something rather than a "Union".

  • Rails - why would a model inside RAILS_ROOT/lib not be available in production mode?

    Hi - I have a class located inside RAILS_ROOT/lib folder, which I use in one of my helpers, and it works great in development. When I switch to production, the application throws a NameError (uninitialized constant SomeHelper::SomeClass), and I have to load it manually in the helper: load "#{Rails.root}/lib/some_class.rb" module SomeHelper def some_method sc = SomeClass.new # blah end end I was under the impression that everything inside RAILS_ROOT/lib/* should be available all to the app - is there anything I need to configure to make this happen in prod mode? thanks.

  • Can I resize the screen resolution of a remote desktop session?

    Is it possible to change the screen resolution of a Windows remote desktop session after I'm already logged on? For example: it's set for fullscreen but afterwards I want to make the window smaller but now it's Windowed with scrollbars etc. making it a real pain. Basically what I'm hoping for is like when you resize a VMWare session, the guest OS can resize the resolution and everything works beautifully.

    I'm reading a bunch of MySQL files that use # (to end-of-line) comments, but my sql-mode doesn't support them. I found the syntax-table part of sql.el that defines /**/ and -- comments, but according to this, Emacs syntax tables support only 2 comment styles. Is there a way to add support for # comments in sql.el easily?

  • Why do some games randomly turn my screen a random solid color?

    When playing some games my computer will randomly have an error that I cannot fix without turning it off and back on again. The screen changes to one solid color, which varies (off the top of my head I can remember seeing solid green, magenta, etc..) and the sound blares a single tone. The sound sometimes briefly restores and I can still hear the game sounds and even hear and still be heard by people in my Mumble channel, but the screen doesn't right itself so I'm still blind. What's more is this happens in some games but not in others. While the game is actually running, not while I'm still in the menu. However, it does happen if I'm afk or idle but the game world is still rendering. Games where the error occurs: League of Legends World of Warcraft Trine The Sims 2 Dungeon Defenders Safe games: games where it has never occurred: Tribes: Ascend Star Wars: the Old Republic Battlefield 3 So relatively older games cause the problem while newer games do not? I cannot predict when it will happen, it just seems random. However, if it happens and I try playing the same game further after restart it does appear to occur more frequently after the first time. But if I switch to a safe game it doesn't continue happening. Both of my RAM sticks appear fine, flipped position or either one on their own and games still run, computer still boots. I would think over-heating, but then why not all games? ALso, sometimes it happens immediately after I start playing, within seconds of the 3D world booting up. I'm looking to upgrade very soon so I want to figure out what component or software is fubar and replace/repair it. Any suggestions or recommendations of tools would be helpful. Below is some system information. Dxdiag does not detect any problems. Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.120305-1505) System Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. System Model: EP45-UD3R BIOS: Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8500 @ 3.16GHz (2 CPUs), ~3.2GHz Memory: 4096MB RAM DirectX Version: DirectX 11 DxDiag Version: 6.01.7601.17514 64bit Unicode Graphics card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 Driver Version: 8.17.12.9610 (error has occurred w/several driver versions) Sound: I do not have a sound card, been using motherboard's built in sound)

    This used to work perfectly up until about a month or two ago. When doing a screen capture onto the clipboard (cmd + ctr + shift + 4) and pasting it into a new document in Photoshop (only in photoshop, pasting it elsewhere like mail works fine), the drop shadow around the application doesn't look right.     I have a solution in Visual studio containing a winform project(WinProj) and a deployment project for WinProj. I added to the deployment project the primary output from WinProj. Does it be compiled in Debug or Release mode? I am asking because in the WinProj code I have conditional precompiler statements #if DEBUG throw; #endif will or not be considered this code in the setup project?
