  • Why do I not get low memory issues until images are draw on the screen?

    - by maxpower
I am able to load over 200 UIImage objects into a NSMutableDictionary without any memorry warning issues. When I start displaying them on the screen (after about showing 10-20 images) I get low memory warnings and an eventual crash. Only about 8 images are displayed at anyone time. Does it take additional memory to actually draw a UIImage on the screen? No memory leaks are showing up and i've reviewed code for leaks many many times.

  • How do you create an invisible button that covers the whole screen including navigation controller?

    - by Jim
I have a simple tableview that navigates to a detailed view with a navigation controller. In the detailed view I need to create a button which when pressed isolates all other buttons displayed on the screen including the navigation controller back button. I know how to get the invisible button to cover most of buttons the screen but I can't get it to cover the navigation controller back button as this has been created in the parent view. How do I pop it over the top of the navigation controller from the detail view?

  • UI design for screen which has number of data entry textFields.

    - by shilpa
Hi all, my app is an e-commerce application. During the checkout process, I have "recipient" and "credit card" screens. In the recipient screen, there are number of fields for address entry, which makes it very clumsy. Same in the case of the credit card screen, where the user is asked to enter their credit card info and billing address. Can anyone suggest how to design these two pages?

  • How could I generate instances of an object randomly at the top of the screen and make them "fall"?

    - by Custard
I am making a game in Flash CS4 (actionscript 3) and I would like to be able to make "copies" of an instance that would randomly appear at the top of the screen and fall. For example, multiple objects(that are the same one) are falling from the top of the screen continuously, starting at random X positions. (i think this would be considered Real-Time effect). P.S., please tell me if the information is insufficient for an answer, I couldn't think of much more to add to it. Thanks for your time and answers, -Custard

  • Identifying Swing component at a particular screen coordinate? (And manually dispatching MouseEvents

    - by DVA
I'm doing some work making a Java app compatible with alternative input devices. Unfortunately, the device in question has a Java API that's barely into the alpha stages right now, so it's pretty poor. What I need to do is essentially set up a replacement structure for the dispatch of MouseEvents. Does anyone know if there's a way in Swing to take a screen coordinate and find out what Swing component is displayed on top at that screen point?

  • Fitting an Image to Screen on Rotation iPhone / iPad ?

    - by user356937
I have been playing around with one of the iPhone examples from Apple' web site (ScrollViewSuite) . I am trying to tweak it a bit so that when I rotate the the iPad the image will fit into the screen in landscape mode vertical. I have been successful in getting the image to rotate, but the image is larger than the height of the landscape screen, so the bottom is below the screen. I would like to image to scale to the height of the landscape screen. I have been playing around with various autoSizingMask attributes without success. The imageView is called "zoomView" this is the actual image which loads into a scrollView called imageScrollView. I am trying to achieve the screen to rotate and look like this.... olsonvox.com/photos/correct.png However, this is what My screen is looking like. olsonvox.com/photos/incorrect.png I would really appreciate some advice or guidance. • How do I center a UIImageView within a full-screen UIScrollView?

    - by Sebastian Celis
In my application, I would like to present the user with a full-screen photo viewer much like the one used in the Photos app. This is just for a single photo and as such should be quite simple. I just want the user to be able to view this one photo with the ability to zoom and pan. I have most of it working. And, if I do not center my UIImageView, everything behaves perfectly. However, I really want the UIImageView to be centered on the screen when the image is sufficiently zoomed out. I do not want it stuck to the top-left corner of the scroll view. Once I attempt to center this view, my vertical scrollable area appears to be greater than it should be. As such, once I zoom in a little, I am able to scroll about 100 pixels past the top of the image. What am I doing wrong? @interface MyPhotoViewController : UIViewController <UIScrollViewDelegate> { UIImage* photo; UIImageView *imageView; } - (id)initWithPhoto:(UIImage *)aPhoto; @end @implementation MyPhotoViewController - (id)initWithPhoto:(UIImage *)aPhoto { if (self = [super init]) { photo = [aPhoto retain]; // Some 3.0 SDK code here to ensure this view has a full-screen // layout. } return self; } - (void)dealloc { [photo release]; [imageView release]; [super dealloc]; } - (void)loadView { // Set the main view of this UIViewController to be a UIScrollView. • wave.getState() returns null

    - by RMorrisey
When trying to call wave.getState() in my Google Wave gadget, I get back null (no state object). How can I initialize the Wave state object? I am working in the Wave Sandbox. My ModulePrefs contains the following: <Require feature="wave" /> <Require feature="rpc"/> I got the "rpc" feature from some google groups post when searching for a fix, but it doesn't seem to be any help. The gadget contains a jQuery plugin, which defines the classes I use (not shown), attaches an event handler to the link that shows up in edit mode, and sets up the callback methods with the google wave gadget initializer: $.fn.extend({ $.gork.InitPass.newButtonClick = function newButtonClick() { var jer = new $.gork.InitPass.Player('Jeremias', 12, 2); var delta = {}; delta[jer.name] = jer.serialize(); wave.getState().submitDelta(delta); }; $.gork.InitPass.modeCallback = function modeCallback() { var state = wave.getState(); var mode = wave.getMode(); $.gork.InitPass.getContainer().ipCombatState(state, (mode == wave.Mode.EDIT)); }; $.gork.InitPass.stateCallback = function stateCallback() { $.gork.InitPass.getContainer().ipCombatState( wave.getState(), (wave.getMode() == wave.Mode.EDIT)); alert('state'); }; $.gork.InitPass.init = function init() { if (wave && wave.isInWaveContainer()) { var mode = wave.getMode(); $('.gork-ip-container').ipCombatState(null, (mode == wave.Mode.EDIT)); wave.setModeCallback($.gork.InitPass.modeCallback); wave.setStateCallback($.gork.InitPass.stateCallback); } }; })(jQuery); gadgets.util.registerOnLoadHandler($.gork.InitPass.init); $(function ready() { $.gork.InitPass.getContainer().find('.gork-ip-edit .addSection a.newButton').click( $.gork.InitPass.newButtonClick); }); So there are two main pieces of functionality here: When the mode changes, ipCombatState(...) is called. This changes the visual appearance of the gadget when the user puts the gadget in Edit mode (CTRL+E), by hiding the view DIV and displaying the edit DIV. The newButtonClick callback (which is attached to the link "a.newButton" in the edit container) is supposed to add Jeremias (Nate's Shadowrun character) to the gadget state, so that he'll be appear as a table row in edit mode. I have verified that the initializer method is called, and the view/edit mode switch works just fine (except the state is null). When I click on the new button link (the link at the bottom in edit mode), and trigger the newButtonClick handler, I get an error because wave.getState() also returns null. How can I initialize the wave state so that I can work with it? The purpose of my gadget will be to keep track of combat initiative order in a Shadowrun tabletop game (4th Ed). You can test it out in Wave and see what I have so far: http://gorkwobble.herobo.com/wave/init-pass.xml The actual javascript code is externalized to: http://gorkwobble.herobo.com/wave/init-pass.js P.S. If any Shadowrun players read this, and want to hear about it when I get the gadget working, leave a comment and I'll wave you.

  • SQL Server Issue: Could not allocate space for object ... primary filegroup is full

    - by Luke
Trying to figure out a problem at an office that has SQL Server 2005 installed on Windows SBS Server 2008. Here's the setup: It's an office, and the person who set this all up is nowhere to be found. I'm the best hope they have... One of the programs they use on a workstation gives them an error of "Could not allocate space for object 'Billing' in database "MyDatabase" because primary filegroup is full" when trying to save an entry in their software. I searched around for hours, looking for possible solutions. One was to check for available disk space, and another was to defrag. I checked the hard drives on the server, and there is plenty of space free. I also defragged, which may have helped the problem somewhat. It's hard to say, because it seems like with the nature of the error, if you try over and over you might get it to actually save. My next step was to try to see if autogrowth was enabled on the database. This would seem to be a likely / possible solution, but I can't access the database! If I run the SQL Management Studio, I can log in as my Windows user and view the list of databases. However, if I try to do anything (actually view the database, view the properties, add or edit users), I get errors that I don't have permission. For what it's worth, I also tried runing Management Studio as Administrator, in case that would help. No difference, though. Now, what I'm guessing is going on -- from my limited knowledge of SQL and from reading online -- is that though I'm logged in as a Windows administrator, that account does NOT have SQL access. I do see a list of SQL users, including SA, but I again don't have permission to add one or to change the password on an existing one. And nobody at the office has any idea what the SQL passwords could be. So... here's my thinking thus far: 1 - The "Could not allocate" error likely points to a database that needs to be allowed to autogrow. Especially since I verified there is plenty of free space and the HD has been defragmented. 2 - Enabling autogrow would be very easy to do if I had the proper access within SQL Management Stuido. That leads me to this link: http://blogs.technet.com/b/sqlman/archive/2011/06/14/tips-amp-tricks-you-have-lost-access-to-sql-server-now-what.aspx It sounds like it's a step-by-step guide for giving me the access I need to SQL. I'm guessing that if I followed this guide, I would be able to then log in to the SQL server via Management Studio with the proper permissions, and would be able to enable autogrow (or simply view the status of the existing database), and hopefully solve the "Could not allocate space" problem! So I guess I have a few questions: 1 - Would you guys agree with my "diagnosis"? Think I'm barking up the right tree? 2 - Is there any risk at all in hurting / disabling / wrecking the current SQL database or setup with me going through the guide to regain SQL access? I understand that per the guide, I would have to temporarily shut down SQL, so obviously it wouldn't be accessible during that time. But it wouldn't be worth the risk if there's a chance I could mess anything up... Like I said, the workstations ARE currently accessing the database somehow, but nobody knows with what login info or anything. Basically, it's set up, it works (usually), but if they had to reload the software, nobody would know how. Any feedback would be appreciated!! The problem is such that it's not an emergency for them, but an annoyance. If I could fix it, it would be wonderful. But if not, I think they'll manage, especially as they are going to eventually stop using this software. Thank you so much for your time! Luke

  • Why can't I connect to a Cisco wireless access point?

    - by spinlock
I'm running a Lucid Netbook Remix on my Dell Inspiron 600m and I was not able to connect to the wireless network at the Hacker Dojo in Mountain View yesterday. There were plenty of other people on the network - MS, Mac, and Linux boxes - but my laptop would never get an ip address. I can connect to my home network, which is open, and I've never had a problem connecting at the coffee shop, which uses WPA. The Hacker Dojo is running WPA and we checked the password a number of times but got no love. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. - by MiffTheFox
I've been pretty happy with my G1 thus far, but I turned it on this morning and it gave me a screen showing multicolored bars and the following text: DREA100 PVT 32B HBOOT-0.95.0000 CPLD-4 RADIO-2.22.19.261 Sep 2 2008 Later down it says "Serial0". Please help me, I don't want to wipe my phone and lose my data on it! I haven't rooted it and have no interest in rooting it. I got Cupcake over the wire, not via hacking.

  • How to build OpenSSL in release mode with symbols?

    - by twk
I generally build my openssl libs by doing this: perl Configure VC-WIN32 ms\do_masm nmake -f ms\ntdll.mak nmake -f ms\ntdll.mak test For debugging minidumps, I'd like to get a pdb file for the 2 dlls (while still building them in "release" mode). I've added /Zi to the CFLAGS part of ms\ntdll.mak, but I still get "Binary was not built with debug information" when I look at the in-memory modules in the visual studio debugger. Am I missing a step? Thanks

  • Microsoft Silverlight cannot be used in browsers running in 64 bit mode.

    - by JD
Hi, I have taken ownership of an application which is a .net win forms application which hosts a System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowser. When the application launches it makes a http request to load a xap file. I immediately see "install silverlight" icon and on clicking get: "Microsoft Silverlight cannot be used in browsers running in 64 bit mode". The app was written initially on a 32 bit machine although I have a 64 bit machine. Any ideas what I need to tweak to get this running? JD
