• Higher than high-level web frameworks or CMS's?

  I'm looking for options that allow very high-level web site development with these special characteristics: not requiring the user to program in a complex programming language not requiring the user to use GUI-like administration areas allow the user to "program" in a lightweight markup language The last point is not only about look and structure of the output but also about creating simple dynamic output. For example: listing pages fetching the content of other pages doing a site search and displaying its output dynamically show or hide parts of the page depending on login status Of course, I am not expecting a solution that provides the same possibilities like a Ruby, Python or PHP web framework. Rather I am looking for support of the "basics" that are common for web sites. Until now, I have found only one piece of software that fulfills these requirements but while it's free, it's not open source: BoltWire at http://www.boltwire.com/. Being open source is required.

• How to recover gracefully from a C# udp socket exception

  Context: I'm porting a linux perl app to C#, the server listens on a udp port and maintains multiple concurrent dialogs with remote clients via a single udp socket. During testing, I send out high volumes of packets to the udp server, randomly restarting the clients to observe the server registering the new connections. The problem is this: when I kill a udp client, there may still be data on the server destined for that client. When the server tries to send this data, it gets an icmp "no service available" message back and consequently an exception occurs on the socket. I cannot reuse this socket, when I try to associate a C# async handler with the socket, it complains about the exception, so I have to close and reopen the udp socket on the server port. Is this the only way around this problem?, surely there's some way of "fixing" the udp socket, as technically, UDP sockets shouldn't be aware of the status of a remote socket? Any help or pointers would be much appreciated. Thanks.

• Visual Web Developer 2005 Express loads very slowly

  I admit that I am not a guru of Visual Studio products at all. I am using Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition and I'm trying to load someone else's project. This project happens to be a website with many pages. After loading VWD, it asks for a project to open and I select the solution file. It then proceeds to take an extremely long time to load. The status bar indicates that references are being loaded, many of which are in the System.Web.* area it seems. It seems like it's going back and forth between some different packages. The loading time is upwards of 20 to 30 minutes or more. Some others have stated that their projects open fine when they go to File Open Website... and choose the project directory from there. Any ideas what the problem could be and how to fix it? Edit: It finally completed loading after an hour approximately.

  Centos 6 recognises and configures a HP LaserJet P3015dn printer connected via USB. This machine is being configured as a small group file/print server. I can print a test page, which is processed/printed correctly. The next time printing is attempted (say printing a second test page), the page is not printed and the printer is set to disabled.   Hello, I'm creating multiple asynchronous web requests using IObservables and reactive extensions. So this creates observable for "GET" web request: var tweetObservalue = from request in WebRequestExtensions.CreateWebRequest(outUrl + querystring, method) from response in request.GetResponseAsync() let responseStream = response.GetResponseStream() let reader = new StreamReader(responseStream) select reader.ReadToEnd(); And I can do tweetObservable.Subscribe(response => dosomethingwithresponse(response)); What is the correct way of executing multiple asynchronous web requests with IObservables and LINQ that have to wait until other requests have been finished? For example first I would like to verify user info: create userInfoObservable, then if user info is correct I want to update stats so I get updateStatusObservable then if status is updated I would like create friendshipObservable and so on. Also bonus question, there is a case where I would like to execute web calls simultaneously and when all are finished execute another observable which will until other calls are finished. Thank you.

  Hi there, to start off, I know C++, C#, Python, some Ruby, and basic Javascript. Anyway, my question revolves around how to interact with RESTful API's via Javascript. I haven't been able to find any good examples on various websites, and so I've come here. So my basic question is: How do I interact with RESTful API's via JS? And where can I find out how to implement OAuth in JS? I know how to get my keys and such, just not how to actually code them in. Below is an example of a twitter API status update run from my MAC terminal with curl: curl -u username:password -d "my tweet" http://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/update.json How can I implement this in Javascript (preferably with OAuth authentication)?   I know running git-diff and other tools can identify the changes in the repository, but when I do a partial commit, I need to pass only the committed files (rather than the entire set of files that are touched) to the pre-commit hook.   I have a C# application that uses XML digital signatures to sign license files. I've used the standard Microsoft approach described here. I'm porting the application to the MAC and need to verify the signature. My general question is how best to do this? This is what I've done: I've used macport to install Aleksey's xmlsec1 library. Used the Chilkat library to convert my XML public key to a PEM file Chilkat.PublicKey pubKey = new Chilkat.PublicKey(); pubKey.LoadXml(publicKeyXml); pubKey.SaveOpenSslPemFile("publicKey.pem"); Compiled and ran the alekseys sample program. See (http://www.aleksey.com/xmlsec/api/xmlsec-verify-with-key.html) to verify an XML dsig. Result: my license files fail to validate. The call to xmlSecDSigCtxVerify fails with status=unknown.   Hello, I have a system where registered users can vote up/vote down comment for a picture. Something very similar to SO's voting system. I store the votes in a table with values as such; vote_id | vote_comment_id | vote_user_id | vote_date | vote_type Now I have few a question concerned the speed and efficiency for the following; PROB: Once a user opens the picture page with comments I need, if that user has already voted UP/DOWN a comment to show it like; "you voted up" or "you voted down" next to the comment (in SO it the vote image is highlighted) MY POSSIBLE SOL: Right now when I open a picture page for each comment I loop thru, I loop thru my table of votes as well and check if a user has voted and show the status (I compare the vote_user_id with the user's session). How efficient is this? Anyone have a better approach to tackle this kind of problem?

• Flash video hiding the cursor on Mac OS X

  I found a Core Graphics function, CGCursorIsVisible, that one can use to determine whether the mouse cursor is shown on screen. I have a small app that uses a timer to call that function a few times a second to see if the cursor is shown or hidden (as I found no way to get my app notified when the mouse cursor shown/hidden status changes). The above works correctly except… when the Flash browser plugin plays a video: the mouse cursor gets hidden after a few seconds of mouse inactivity but CGCursorIsVisible() still keeps telling me that the cursor is indeed shown as if nothing happened. What I need is to be able to tell, at any given moment, whether the mouse cursor is shown to the end user on any screen. Is there any way to do that even in the case of playing a video using the Flash plugin?

  I´m having a problem setting a cookie and doing a 302 redirect In chrome the cookie is not being set (I haven't tested safari), in other browsers I was having the same problem until I added Path=/ to the cookie an now it works. • Can I use some combination of HttpHandler and HttpModule to create an asynchronous file upload?

  I am trying to write a simple asynchronous file upload control for ASP.Net. I've tried a few implementations out there (AjaxControl Toolkit Async Upload, Telerik RadAsyncUpload, AjaxUploader, Uploadify, etc.), but they all leave me wanting something more. I'd rather not use a Flash component, a simple throbber would be OK. Some don't have client side call backs. I figure you can make an http module that checks the request form's enctype and files collection on BeginRequest and save those files to disk. Then somehow use an httpHandler to poll the module's status but I can't quite figure out how to put it all together asynchronously. Can you help me arrange the pieces?

  I have created an NSStatusBar cocoa application which sits in the system status bar. I want to assign a hotkey so that when pressed it toggles my applications and show the menu. Is this possible?, In my searching and experimenting I have found a few different ways of assigning global hot keys that can be pressed when your application is in the background but I can't find any way to problematically make the menu show. Is this possible?, If anyone thinks a way of assigning a global hotkey is best please post it. Thanks.   I have been working on many applications which run as windows service or scheduled tasks. Now, i want to make sure that these applications will be fault tolerant and reliable. For example; i have a service that runs every hour. if the service crashes while its operating or running, i d like the application to run again for the same period, to avoid data loss. moreover, i d like the program to report the error with details. My goal is to avoid data loss and not falling behind for running the program. I have built a class library that a user can import into a project. Library is supposed to keep information of running instance of the program, ie. program reads and writes information of running interval, running status etc. This data is stored in a database. I was curious, if there are some best practices to make the scheduled tasks/ windows services fault tolerant and reliable.

  What would be the proper way to explode a COM object for debugging? I have a 3rd party function that returns a multilevel object. The documentation is non existant, so I'd like to be able to echo everything out of the object or debug it in Komodo IDE. Komodo just says Object and nothing else. Maybe convert to array? I know some of the existing options such as $com->Status, but there are more variables returned that I'd like to know what they are.

  I've set up Tramp on Emacs on my Windows 7 box (64 bit). For this test, this is the only thing in my emacs-config: (setq tramp-default-method "plink") Then I connect to my Ubuntu Server 9.10 running in a VM on my local network. Connection goes fine, i can use dired to browse folders and open files. Yay! However, git status shows up as: Git:master^M An when i open speedbar all folders and files ends with ^M, ie: <+ conf/^M Does anyone know how to prevent this line-ending collision from occurring?

• Loop through all subclasses in an Android view?

  I’m working on a game for Android. To help implement it, my idea is to create a subclass of a view. I would then insert several instances of this class as children of the main view. Each instance would handle detecting when it was pressed (via OnTouchListener). The problem I’m having now is how do I loop through all these sub-views so I can read their statuses and process them? (I.e. when they all reach a certain state something should happen). Or is there a better way to have several objects on the screen that respond to touch and whose status I can check?

  Hello: I have downloaded the latest GLUI source code and now I am trying to compile it. When I do so, I get the following error: g++ -O0 -Wall -pedantic -I./ -I./include -I/usr/X11R6/include -o bin/example1 example/example1.cpp -L./lib -lglui -L/usr/X11R6/lib/libXdmcp.a -lglut -lGLU -lGL -lXmu -lXext -lX11 -lXi -lm /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lXmu collect2: ld returned 1 exit status When I did a locate libXmu, I get the following output: > %:~/src/GLUI/src$ locate libXmu > /usr/lib/libXmu.so.6 > /usr/lib/libXmu.so.6.2.0 > /usr/lib/libXmuu.so.1 > /usr/lib/libXmuu.so.1.0.0 Do I get the error because I don't have a /usr/lib/libXmu.so? When i want to compile a SQL Client Program, it aborts with this Error Message ld: library not found for -lmysqlclient collect2: ld returned 1 exit status I compile with this command: g++ -I /usr/local/mysql/include/ -L /usr/local/mysql/lib/ -lmysqlclient main.cpp I've tried the Headers and Librarys in different locations - no effect I've downloaded the headers and the Library from an other Destination - Same effect as before Any Ideas what i am doing wrong? If there is a thread allready i want to excuse (nothing found in search)! Greeting, Dennis

  Hi, I'm trying to compile a project that uses the GData objective-c framework. I've successfully compiled and run the project under the 'Debug' configuration, but when I try to compile using 'Release' and now 'Adhoc' I get the following errors. NOTE: I duplicated the debug configuration for adhoc and that doesn't seem to help. • Can a program that controls IE detect if a HTTP 30x code is encountered?

  I am trying to control an InternetExplorer.Application via the COM interface, using Perl, Win32::OLE, and information from MSDN. My goal is to get as good an idea as possible about what IE is doing. (Related to this question.) IE uses events to notify my program when it has finished various stages of processing a certain URL (NavigateComplete2, DownloadComplete DocumentComplete). It can also tell my program about various errors it encounters (NavigateError2). I consider that part of my problem solved well enough. I would also like to be able to reliably detect if IE is redirected by the server. Primarily, I'm concerned about HTTP 30x status codes. Is there a way to do this, either with COM automation or via another route?

• Large Scale VHDL modularization techniques

  I'm thinking about implimenting a 16 bit CPU in VHDL. A simplish CPU. ADD, MULS, NEG, BitShift, JUMP, Relitive Jump, BREQ, Relitive BREQ, i don't know somethign along these lines Probably all only working with 16bit operands. I might even cut it down and use only a single operand and a accumulator. With Some status regitsters, Carry, Zero, Neg (unless i use a Accumlator), I know how to design all the parts from logic gates, and plan to build them up from first priciples, So for my ALU I'll need to 'build' a ADDer, proably a Carry Look ahead, group adder, this adder it self is make up oa a couple of parts, wich are themselves made up of a couple of parts. Anyway, my problem is not the CPU design, or the VHDL (i know the language, more or less). It's how i should keep things organised. How should I use packages, How should I name my processes and port maps? (i've never seen the benifit of naming the port maps, or processes)

• effective retrieve for a voting system in PHP

  Hello, I have a system where registered users can vote up/vote down comment for a picture. Something very similar to SO's voting system. I store the votes in a table with values as such; vote_id | vote_comment_id | vote_user_id | vote_date Now I have few a question concerned the speed and efficiency for the following; PROB: Once a user opens the picture page with comments I need, if that user has already voted UP/DOWN a comment to show it like; "you voted up" or "you voted down" next to the comment (in SO it the vote image is highlighted) MY POSSIBLE SOL: Right now when I open a picture page for each comment I loop thru, I loop thru my table of votes as well and check if a user has voted and show the status (I compare the vote_user_id with the user's session). How efficient is this? Anyone have a better approach to tackle this kind of problem?

• Jquery AJAX and figuring out how NOT to nest callbacks for multiple reloads.

  I have a site with a few containers that need to load content dynamically via AJAX. Most of the links inside of the containers actually load new data in that same container. I.E: $("#navmenu_item1").click(function() { $("#navmenu").load(blah); }); When I click on a link, lets say "logout," and the menu reloads with the updated login status, none of the links now work because I would need to add a new .click into the callback code. Now with repeated clicks and AJAX requests I am not sure how to move forward from here, as I am sure nested callbacks are not optimal. What would be the best way to do this? Do I include the .click event inside the actual AJAX file being pulled from the server, instead of within index.php? Or can I somehow reload the DOM? Thanks for the help!
