• How to implement collapsible sections like on this .aspx page?

  This .aspx page has a very nice set of collapsible sections with a little "+ -" control. http://www.microsoft.com/sqlserver/2008/en/us/editions-compare.aspx Can anyone tell me how this might be done in Visual Studio? I have tried using firebug to deconstruct the page but can't find the script that is doing the showCollapsibleItem() call. Thank you!

• Odd visual issue with ListView item layout with two pressable pieces

  I wanted to make a ListView where the items have two pressable pieces, like the layouts that show up in a couple of places in the stock Android phone/contacts application: I have the layout working fine, including handling events from each piece separately, except for a visual issue when the smaller piece is pressed. In my application the smaller piece only gets a small ellipse for the background when it is pressed, like this: Note that is actually not my application - that is NubDial, but my application has the same problem. Since NubDial uses the exact same XML layout as the phone app, I'm not sure how relevant the list item layouts are, but here they are anyway: Contacts list: contacts_list_item.xml NubDial: contacts_list_item.xml Does anybody know what might be happening there?

I am asking because in the WinProj code I have conditional precompiler statements #if DEBUG throw; #endif will or not be considered this code in the setup project?

  I have a Visual Studio Setup project and have followed the steps mentioned in this link to load the Shared Add-in Support Update for the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 (KB908002) to the prerequisites list. The entry appears but there is this following warning shown No 'HomeSite' attribute has been provided for 'Shared Add-in Support Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 (KB908002)', so the package will be published to the same location as the bootstrapper. I use the Download component from the component vendor's website option. How do I set a homesite for this update so that the update is directly downloaded and installed. I do not want to distribute the update along with my setup. Thanks

  I would like to know why the Visual C++ compiler gets me an warning/error if I use the following code: #pragma message( "You have " _MSC_FULL_VER ) Here is what I get: error C2220: warning treated as error - no 'object' file generated warning C4081: expected ':'; found ')' The problem reproduces for _MSC_FULL_VER or _MSV_VER but not if I try to use others like __FILE__ or __DATE__.   I'm attempting to use the Ctrl+R, Ctrl+R command within Visual Studio 2008 to rename a variable. I get an error message at the bottom saying that "The key combination (Ctrl+R, Ctrl+R) is bound to command (&Rename...) which is not currently available." I am not running it or anything I can think of which might prohibit modifications of the file and the F2 command allows a rename to happen. Anyone know how to fix this?

• Has anyone gotten VB highlighting to work in Emacs23?

  I have found and installed the visual basic mode for emacs. It seems to be loading on emacs startup and the VB mode loads when I open a *.bas file. The code is not highlighted at all, however. I'm using Emacs23, tried it with 21 and saw no difference. Background for the curious: I am rewriting a set of codes from VB to Python. The syntax highlighting will make it much easier for me to see what's going on.

  (Can't believe this hasn't already been asked, but I can't find a dup) In Visual Studio with lots of projects, when I first open the solution, I sometimes get the warning Object of type "X" cannot be converted to object of type "X". Generally rebuilding seems to make it go away, but does anyone know what this is caused by, and how to avoid it? UPDATE I read somewhere that deleting all your resx files and rebuilding can help. I unthinkingly tried this. Not a good idea...

  When creating a mixed mode class, on compilation the header file complains that it needs to be complied with the /clr switch as it is a mixed mode class, however, I can't see any option to specifically compile that header with /clr from visual studio, and I don't want to set the entire project with a /clr flag, Does anyone know how I can specify that this header file is compiled correctly with /clr?   Visual Studio 2010 has official Extensions for SharePoint 2010, which also includes MSBUILD .targets. I'm setting up a Continuous Integration Server at the moment, and msbuild can't compile my SharePoint projects as these targets are missing. Before I start manually identifying and copying over the SP stuff, I wonder if there is a standalone version so that I don't have to install VS2010 on my CI Server?

  I'm using Crystal Report with VB.NET in Visual Studio 2005. I have report that works if I pass in a list of List(Of Stuff). I had been sorting the report by one of the members of Stuff but a need now to sort first by one member, like Stuff.StatusCode and then by another member, like Stuff.ItemNumber. Can I do this just be having more than one SortField member, or do I need to do it some other way? Thanks as always!
