  • Where is the VB.Net debugger "Make Object ID" function?

    When using the visual studio 2008 debugger with c# i can right-click on a variable and choose "Make Object ID" which allows me to watch that object (via it's ID) regardless of whether it is in the current stack frame or not. When the debugger is in VB code, (doesnt matter if it's run from a c# unit test or a vb unit test) That option isn't there. Where did VB put this feature? Or does it simply not support it like so many other helpful c# features?

The only web project on this solution display the following message: .vbproj the project is not supported by this installation I try to open the web project separately from the solution and I not have problem. How I can open the web project from the solution. Any ideas?

    I have a Visual Studio 2008 project that has a reference to a dll. I removed the reference to version 1 and added a new reference to version 2. The project builds successfully, however when I analyze the project dll after it has been built in Reflector I am seeing that it is holding onto two references to the same dll - version 1 and version 2 are both referenced.

    I have applied a color theme called Vibrant Ink (or some modification of it), and since I installed Visual Studio 2010 Pro Power Tools all my statement completion boxes are undreadable. What setting changes the colors of these boxes? Preferrably, I'd like to change the background color to something darker, but if that's not possible at least I want to change the text color.

On the time of the development of website I am able to access the database.. but after publishing the site using IIS7..i was unable to access the database..the exception occured during that time was "the connection is in the closed state".in IIS7 When I changed the application pool identity to localsystem, it worked. Data base is installed in the same machine. and server is SQL SERVER 2008 R2

    I am using SQL server and ODBC in visual c++ for writing to the database. Currently i am using parameter binding in SQL queries ( as i fill the database with only 5 - 6 queries and same is true for retrieving data). I dont know much about stored procedures and I am wondering how much if any performance increase stored procedures have over parameter binding as in parameter binding we prepare the query only once and just execute it later in the program for diferent set of values of variables.

  • DDEX Firebird editing queries duplicates columns in Visual Studio 2008

    Hello everybody! I don't know if some of you also has experienced it but when I edit a query in Visual Studio (it uses DDEX 2.0.5 for accessing the Firebird 2.5 database), it duplicates some of the columns. What's really interesting is the fact that only System.Boolean columns are duplicated: Originally, there was only ,for instance, a 'PRO_DELETED' field... Now I wanted to sort my results by this field - I had to change the select statement in the so-called QueryBuilder by adding "ORDER BY PRO_DELETED" ...After clicking OK it somehow created a new column (!?) called 'PRO_DELETED1' My question is: Why does DDEX add such a new row to the column view and why can't I access the original PRO_DELETED field anymore? I need to store the entered sign up credentials in any database(Oracle, Service based database, local database). Then when he tries to sign in, entered credentials should be compared with stored sign up values for authentication. This is done in visual studio, c#.     I want to paste a string with more than two lines into a nvarchar(max) cell (right click a Table in Sql Server Management Studio 2008 -- Edit Rows). Unfortunately only the the first line of the string is pasted into the cell. I know, I could write a Insert/Update script for that, but it's not what I'm looking for.     I am trying to monitor an application available on remote machine using VisualVM & Visual GC. I have enabled the jmxremote on the remote side as follows: -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote, -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port=8888, -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.ssl=false, -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.authenticate=false While monitoring through VisualVM, everything runs fine but VisualGC doesn't displays any stats (getting Not Supported for this JVM error). While tried to monitor one local application, VisualGC runs fine... Got success with the remote app once started jstad on the remote jvm. Is this a known issue with VisualGC...? Remote JVM - 1.5 Local JVM - 1.6

    How do I make extra initializations on a modal dialog before calling DoModal(); ? The whole application is created using VS wizards. I have a main Dialog (the one that is created automatically when I select new MFC Application in Visual Studio 2008 Professional). When I click a button on this dialog I want to open another dialog and set a CString value into a CEdit control. my code: ... void MainDlg::OnClickedButtonX(){ SecondDialogClass Dlg2; Dlg2.asocVar2Cedit.SetWindowTextW(L"my text"); Dlg2.DoModal(); } //asocVar2Cedit is the associeted control variable to the //CEdit control on the second Dialog (Right Click > Add Variable.. in VSC++) ... this code generates at runtime a "Debug Assertion" error in winocc...   • Very Different Execution Times of SQL Query in C# and SQL Server Management Studio

    I have a simple SQL query that when run from C# takes over 30 seconds then times-out every time, whereas when run on SQL Server Management Studio successfully completes instantly. In the latter case, a query execution plan reveals nothing troubling, and the execution time is spread nicely through a few simple operations. I've run 'EXEC sp_who2' while the query is running from C#, and it is listed as taking 29,000 milliseconds of CPU time, and is not blocked by anything. I have no idea how to begin solving this. Does anyone have some insight? The query is: SELECT c.lngId, ... FROM tblCase c INNER JOIN tblCaseStatus s ON s.lngId = c.lngId INNER JOIN tblCaseStatusType t ON t.lngId = s.lngId INNER JOIN [Another Database]..tblCompany cm ON cm.lngId = cs.lngCompanyId WHERE t.lngId = 25 AND c.IsDeleted = 0 AND s.lngStatus = 1

  • Adding web reference is not generating the expected reference.cs file. Absent functions.

    I'm working with an old windows app in visual studio 2005. A webserviced referenced in the original app has 2 functions and when i peak inside the auto-generated reference.cs file I notice a couple of other functions to allow async calls have been geenrated i.e. BeginWhateverFunctionNameIsCalled and EndWhateverFunctionNameIsCalled. My problem is that I've created a new windows app and added the same web references but the Begin and End functions are not generated in my reference.cs proxy class. Anyone know whats going on?
