• VirtualHost problem with passenger (mod_rails)

  Hi all, I'm at my wit's end here with virtual hosting. I'm trying to install redmine and it works with the webrick test server, but when I tried to use passenger (mod_rails) to host and go to the address I specified when in the virtualhost part of my apache config file nothing happens. Here is the relavent section of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf where I try to set up the virtual host: <VirtualHost *:80> SetEnv RAILS_ENV production ServerName redmine.MYSITE.com:80 DocumentRoot /opt/redmine-1.0.5/public/ <Directory /opt/redmine-1.0.5/public/> Options -MultiViews Allow from all AllowOverride none </Directory> However, when I got to redmine.MYSITE.com:80 nothing happens, I just get our normal home page. I have no idea what the problem is, any help our guidance would be greatly appreciated. If you need any other information, please tell me and I'll provide it.

• Spawning and waiting for child processes in Python

  The relevant part of the code looks like this: pids = [] for size in SIZES: pids.append(os.spawnv(os.P_NOWAIT, RESIZECMD, [RESIZECMD, lotsOfOptions])) # Wait for all spawned imagemagick processes to finish while pids: (pid, status) = os.waitpid(0, 0) if pid: pids.remove(pid) What this should be doing is spawning all of the processes off, then waiting for each process to finish before continuing. What it does is work for the most part but sometimes crash on the next section (when it expects all of these processes to be finished). Is there something wrong with this? Is there a better way of doing it? The environment it has to work on is CentOS with Python 2.4, but I'm testing on Cygwin with Python 2.5, so it could be that it fails on my machine but will work on the Linux one (the Linux machine is very slow and this error is rare, so I haven't been able to get it on there).

• How can I change the filename of a shared library after building a program that depends on it?

  I have a program that depends on a shared library it expects to find deep inside a directory structure. I'd like to move that shared library out and into a better place. On OS X, this can be done with install_name_tool. I'm unable to find an equivalent for Linux. For reference, readelf -d myprogram spits out the following paraphrased output: Dynamic section at offset 0x1e9ed4 contains 30 entries: Tag Type Name/Value 0x00000001 (NEEDED) Shared library: [this/is/terrible/library.so] 0x00000001 (NEEDED) Shared library: [libGL.so.1] 0x00000001 (NEEDED) Shared library: [libGLU.so.1] 0x00000001 (NEEDED) Shared library: [libstdc++.so.6] and I would like to errata "this/is/terrible/library.so" to be "shared/library.so". I know about RPATH and it isn't what I'm looking for, I don't need to change search paths globally.

• IIS7 Overrides customErrors when setting Response.StatusCode?

  Having a weird problem here. Everybody knows that if you use web.config's customErrors section to make a custom error page, that you should set your Response.StatusCode to whatever is appropriate. For example, if I make a custom 404 page and name it 404.aspx, I could put <% Response.StatusCode = 404 % in the contents in order to make it have a true 404 status header. Follow me so far? Good. Now try to do this on IIS7. I cannot get it to work, period. If Response.StatusCode is set in the custom error page, IIS7 seems to override the custom error page completely, and shows it's own status page (if you have one configured.) Has anyone else seen this behavior and also maybe know how to work around it? It was working under IIS6, so I don't know why things changed. Update: This is not the same as the issue in http://stackoverflow.com/questions/347281/asp-net-custom-404-returning-200-ok-instead-of-404-not-found

• Debugging maven junit tests with filtered resources?

  We are using filtered testResources in JUnit-tests that are usually executed by the maven surefire plugin. That is, the pom contains a section <build> <testResources> <testResource> <directory>src/test/resources</directory> <filtering>true</filtering> </testResource> </testResources> ... How can I run such JUnit-tests in the debugger? If I execute the tests in eclipse the tests fail since the test resources are not filtered. If the filtered test resources would be written somewhere into the target directory, I could just use this as an additional source path - but this is not the case. If I try to run the maven build in eclipse with Debug As / maven test , the build does not stop in the breakpoints. Any other ideas?

  I'm having trouble when sending emails thorough the mail() function. I have a script that works perfectly fine for an email address like [email protected] but when the first part of the email is something with a dot like [email protected] it doesn't work and returns this error : Warning: mail() [function.mail ]: SMTP server response: 554 : Recipient address rejected: Relay access denied in confirmed.php on line 119 I am using real email address but have changed it in the above example. Any thoughts - I'm not a php master but surely there is an easy way to send emails to address with a 2 part first section?? Thanks in advance Ali

  Hi there I have set up my coldfusion application to have dynamic urls on the page, such as www.musicExplained/index.cfm/artist/:VariableName However my variable names will sometimes contain slashes, such as www.musicExplained/index.cfm/artist/GZA/Genius This is causing a problem, because my application presumes that the slash in the variable name represents a different section of the website, the artists albums. So the URL will fail. I am wondering if there is anyway to prevent this from happening? Do I need to use a function that replaces slashes in the variable names with another character? Thanks

• Wordpress: Not able to retrieve css for new plugin in admin mode

  I'm creating a new plugin which will have it's own css file. The css file resides in the root folder of the plugin. In the plugin section of the admin interface, I have added a few text fields fields. But the CSS is not applied. I'm adding the CSS file using this code: // Register styling add_action('admin_init', 'event_styles'); function event_styles() { wp_register_style('event_cal', plugins_url('eventcall.css',__FILE__)); wp_enqueue_style('event_cal'); } The following code gives me the CSS path: echo plugins_url('eventcall.css',__FILE__); and outputs http://mysite.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-eventcal/eventcall.css If I try to enter this URL directly in the browser, it only shows me the front page. And if I look in the source code using Firebug, where the link to the CSS should be, I only find the entire HTML code for the front page. Am I using wrong code to use backend in admin interface?   I have implemented a small ordering and stock control system (for internal using) with the MVC 2 framework. Now my friends, they want to have a website to present the existing products for their customers. I know, I know they will ask me to do this one day. So in the beginning, I have made the controller name to start with "Admin". But now I am not sure the best way to implement their requirements. Could you advise me? 1.For the security reason, I did not allowed anonymous user to access the website a part from the CSS and image files. My question is the controllers' name are not folders' name, how could I set this up? 2.I'm planning to put the admin section into an "area" and will it be a good way to go? • Where is this backward_warning.h #warning coming from?

  Without looking through every single source file in my XCode project, is there a way to find out which #include is triggering the following warning? #warning This file includes at least one deprecated or antiquated header. Please consider using one of the 32 headers found in section 17.4.1.2 of the C++ standard. Examples include substituting the <X> header for the <X.h> header for C++ includes, or <iostream> instead of the deprecated header <iostream.h>. To disable this warning use -Wno-deprecated. Clicking on the error in XCode just opens the backward_warning.h file, which is totally useless. I know what the warning means, I know how to fix it (when I see the file in question and can look at its #includes)... but I just don't know how to find the file causing the error!

• Core Data: Fetch all entities in a to-many-relationship of a particular object?

  Hi there, in my iPhone application I am using simple Core Data Model with two entities (Item and Property): Item name properties Property name value item Item has one attribute (name) and one one-to-many-relationship (properties). Its inverse relationship is item. Property has two attributes the according inverse relationship. Now I want to show my data in table views on two levels. The first one lists all items; when one row is selected, a new UITableViewController is pushed onto my UINavigationController's stack. The new UITableView is supposed to show all properties (i.e. their names) of the selected item. To achieve this, I use a NSFetchedResultsController stored in an instance variable. On the first level, everything works fine when setting up the NSFetchedResultsController like this: -(NSFetchedResultsController *) fetchedResultsController { if (fetchedResultsController) return fetchedResultsController; // goal: tell the FRC to fetch all item objects. Should have found 3." return [sectionInfo numberOfObjects]; } The same implementation works fine on the first level. It's getting even weirder. I implemented some kind of UI to add properties. I create a new Property instance via Property *p = [NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"Property" inManagedObjectContext:self.moContext];, set up the relationships and call [self.moContext save:&error]. This seems to work, as error is still nil and the object gets saved (I can see the number of properties when logging the Item instance, see above). However, the delegate methods are not fired. This seems to me due to the possibly messed up fetchRequest(Controller). Any ideas? Did I mess up the second fetch request? Is this the right way to fetch all entities in a to-many-relationship for a particular instance at all?

All I wanted to do was to have the value of the users 'fullname' displayed in the header section of my web page. So I am outputting this code immediately after to try and achieve this: echo 'Hello '; echo $row['fullname']; Before this change, I had it working perfectly, where the session variable of fullname was echoed $_SESSION['SESS_NAME']. However, because my user can update their information (including their name), I wanted the name displayed in the header to be updated accordingly, and not displaying the session value.

• Overlapping images w/ image maps obstructing each other

  Information: The images have large transparent sections, so each must be overlapped to create the needed effect. Specifically, the clickable portions of each image are in weird trapezoid shapes meant to be pressed up against each other. Images have image maps with large portions being overlapped by the transparent portions of other nearby (trapezoid) images. I don't expect any change in z indexes will solve this... Combining the image files into a larger single one to overlay a single image map for each section seems less than ideal, especially since I may need to re-order or rename them later and such. Never mind hover animations and other possibilities down the road. What would be the best workaround?

The SECOND item I get has * Where is this second entry coming from? This is an Allow Rule, not a Deny rule. I could understand the * from a Deny rule. Is there some extra inheritance I'm not aware of?

• How can I use Perl to grab text from a web page that is dynamically generated with JavaScript?

  There is a website I am trying to pull information from in Perl, however the section of the page I need is being generated using javascript so all you see in the source is: <div id="results"></div> I need to somehow pull out the contents of that div and save it to a file using Perl/proxies/whatever. e.g. the information I want to save would be document.getElementById('results').innerHTML; I am not sure if this is possible or if anyone had any ideas or a way to do this. I was using a lynx source dump for other pages but since I cant straight forward screen scrape this page I came here to ask about it! • Browser gets blocked, workers to the rescue?

  Hello, I use JavaScript for rendering 20 tables of 100 rows each. The data for each table is provided by controller as JSON. Each table is split into section that have "totals" and have some other JavaScript logic code. Some totals are outside of the table itself. As a result JavaScript blocks browser for a couple of seconds (especially in IE6) :( I was consideting to use http://code.google.com/p/jsworker/, however Google Gears Workers (I guess workers in general) will not allow me to make changes to DOM at the worker code, and also it seems to me that I can not use jQuery inside jsworker worker code. (Maybe I am wrong here?). This issue seems to be fundamental to the JavaScript coding practice, can you share with me your thoughts how to approach it?

• Debugging ASP.NET Session State server issues

  We have an application that runs over load balanced server instances, and therefore is configured to use the ASP.NET session state service, which is running on one of our DB servers. While both instances of our app can successfully connect to the state server, changes in session state data are not being reflected across both of them. FI, If I call Session.Add('SomeKey', SomeData) on Server A, this is not being reflected if I then try to access Session['SomeKey'] on Server B. Session.SessionID returns the same value on both servers, and I have checked that they are both using the same validationkey and decryptionkey values configured in the machinekey section of machine.config. I even tried specifying these values in the apps web.config. What other things should I be looking out for which may be causing these symptoms, and what steps can people recommend to help debug this issue?

  hello there. building a site which has content for each section. urls range from; /work/ /work/print/ /work/print/folders etc. however, at any point a user can click on an article so; /work/article/1066 /work/print/article/1066 /work/print/folders/article/1066 using .htaccess i need to detect when there is 'article' in the url and set some different variables. RewriteRule ^([a-zA-Z0-9\-]+)/([a-zA-Z0-9\-]+)/([a-zA-Z0-9\-]+)/([a-zA-Z0-9\-]+)/$ sets index.php?level1=$1&level2=$2&level3=$3&level4=$4 but if 'article/([0-9-]+)' is in the url, say /work/print/article/1066 return index.php?level1=$1&level2=$2&articleID=1066 basically the amount of levels will always be different but i'd like to return those as needed. another example would /work/print/folder/archive/article/1066 return index.php?level1=$1&level2=$2&level3=$3&level4=$4&articleID=1066 any help appreciated! • Change Gmail message routing on individual mailboxes

  We are using dual delivery for one of our Google Apps doamins and need to be able to disable mail delivery to the Gmail account. You can manually update the settings on a per user basis through the Admin interface by unchecking the box next to "Google Apps Email" in the Email routing section. From the Google Apps API documentation for the python library it does not appear that I programmatically disable the email routing for "Google Apps Email" on a per user basis. Does anyone know if it's possible? The only routing related method I can find is at the Domain level and not the user level. gdata.apps.adminsettings.service Thank you!
