• jQuery UI get the sorted position of LI element in UL

  I'm using jQuery UI's sortable for my UL list. Each time the user sorts the list, I want each li element to update it's "position" attribute to it's position in the list. <ul> <li position="1">a</li> <li position="2">b</li> <li position="3">c</li> </ul> So when a user swaps c with a, the position will also update. I tried to use .each but it seems that javascript doesn't follow the order of how the LI elements are displayed but the order of the element's creation.

• Hibernate Updating an existing entity with a new object

  Hi, Assume I have an entity Foo in the DB. I am parsing some files and creating new Foo objects and would like to check if the parsed Foo object exists in the DB (using a unique attribute). If it exists already update it otherwise save as a new object. What is the best approach? Could I simply set the id and version in the new Foo object? Or would I be better off loading the Foo object from the DB and copying over the properties from the parsed file? Thanks.

  When you run the same web based application as a multi-tenant application for different clients is there a way during the PreapplicationStartMethod to gain some kind of context to the site that is being started? More specifically I'd like to get the host header information (the "bindingInformation" attribute value from the applicationHost.config); I have found ways to get this information at the time of a specific request long after the application has started. Is there a way to get the information during the application startup process? This is an MVC 3 application and IIS 7.5.

• IE - Color transparent not working

  Hello, I have a problem with the IE (what else?): I generate content with CSS which has also a background-image. I looks like that: #nav ul li:after { content: "--"; position: relative; z-index: 99; background: transparent url(image.png); color: transparent; } The text color is in non-IE-browsers transparent, but in all IE browsers it's black and you could see it. How could I make the text transparent/unvisible? I tried already: visibility - opacity - filter - text-indent ... But none did his job right, either it disappears (with it background which I need) or the attribute doesn't apply.

• How can I loop over a query for a specific number of times that may be greater than the result?

  I need to loop over a query exactly 12 times to complete rows in a form but rarely will the query return 12 rows. The cfquery endRow attribute doesn't force the loop to keep going if the result is < 12. If it did that would be ideal to use something like cfloop query="myQuery" endRow="12"... The 2 options that I have now are to skip the loop and write out all 12 rows but that results in a lot of duplicate code (there are 20 columns), or do a query of queries for each row which seems like a lot of wasted processing. Thanks for any ideas.

  Hy I'v a little problem with hibernate on netbeans. I've a table with an Auto increment id : CREATE TABLE "DVD" ( "DVD_ID" INT not null primary key GENERATED ALWAYS AS IDENTITY (START WITH 1, INCREMENT BY 1), "TITLE" VARCHAR(150), "COM" LONG VARCHAR, "COVER" VARCHAR(150) ); But this auto increment is not properly detected with Reverse Engineering. I get a map file with this : <id name="dvdId" type="int"> <column name="DVD_ID" /> <generator class="assigned" /> </id> i've looked on google and on this site ... foud some stuf but i'm still stuck.. i've tried to add insert="false" update="false" on the map file but i get back : Caused by: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Attribute "insert" must be declared for element type "id".   I have a page (call it form.php) with a form for users to fill out. When the form is submitted, I want to validate it with a server-side script (call it validate.php if necessary, although the code could also go in one of the other pages if that would be better). If any part of the form fails validation, I want to kick back to form.php with the fields the user needs to fix highlighted. If the form passes validation, I want to go to another page, success.php. Which page should I put in the "action" attribute of the <form> element, and what's the best way to get from that page to one of the others?

• What are alternatives to standard ORM in a data access layer?

  We're all familiar with basic ORM with relational databases: an object corresponds to a row and an attribute in that object to a column (or some slight variation), though many ORMs add a lot of bells and whistles. I'm wondering what other alternatives there are (besides raw access to the database or whatever you're working with). Alternatives that just work with relational databases would be great, but ones that could encapsulate multiple types of backends besides just SQL (such as flat files, RSS, NoSQL, etc.) would be even better. I'm more interested in ideas rather than specific implantations and what languages/platforms they work with, but please link to anything you think is interesting.

  I am developing a general database query tools, a .Net 3.5 Windows Form application. In order to make the presentation layer is independent of the database layer. I use an ORM framework, XPO from DevExpress. But, I have no access control function built in. I surfed Internet and I found in WCF Data Services, there is an interesting concept, Interceptor, which is following AOP(Aspect Oriented Programming). I am wondering who has such an experience to build access control in ORM. My basic requirement is : It should be a general method and controlled by users in runtime. So any hard coding is not acceptable. It could be based on attribute, database table, or even an external assembly. I am willing to buy a ready solution. According to the idea of AOP, an access control function can be integrated with existing functions easily and nearly not knowingly to the previous developer;) Any suggestions are welcome.

  I'm having a bit of trouble with ReferencePropertys in App Engine (Python). For a bit of fun, I'm trying to model a folder/file system, but having trouble getting folders to reference folders. My first attempt was this: class Folder(db.Model): id = db.StringProperty() name = db.StringProperty() created = db.DateTimeProperty(auto_now_add=True) folder = db.ReferenceProperty(Folder, collection_name="folders") But that fails as "Folder" isn't defined when "folder" is trying to be defined. I've also tried defining "folder" outside of the main declaration for "Folder", like so: class Folder(db.Model): id = db.StringProperty() name = db.StringProperty() created = db.DateTimeProperty(auto_now_add=True) Folder.folder = db.ReferenceProperty(Folder, collection_name="folders") But that fails with: AttributeError: 'Folder' object has no attribute 'folders' I'm kind of stumped. • jQuery-ajax call: async property is not working?

  Hi, given to certain circumstances, I'm forced to keep page settings (Javascript-values) in the session and it has to be done right before leaving the page (I can't use cookies, since "pageSettings" can become quite large and localStorage is not an option yet ;) ). So this is how I tried it. • Database Design for One to One relationships

  I'm trying to finalize my design of the data model for my project, and am having difficulty figuring out which way to go with it. I have a table of users, and an undetermined number of attributes that apply to that user. The attributes are in almost every case optional, so null values are allowed. Each of these attributes are one to one for the user. Should I put them on the same table, and keep adding columns when attributes are added (making the user table quite wide), or should I put each attribute on a separate table with a foreign key to the user table. I have decided against using the EAV model. Thanks!

The code below works fine until I want to create choices, where for some reason I always get this error message: line 22, in unicode return self.question AttributeError: 'Choice' object has no attribute 'question' Unfortunatley, I dont understand where I made an error.   Hi folks, I've got a simple custom FilterAttribute which I use decorate various ActionMethods. eg. [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Get)] [MyCustomFilter] public ActionResult Bar(...) { ... } Now, I wish to add some logging to this CustomFilter Action .. so being a good boy, I'm using DI/IoC ... and as such wish to use this pattern for my custom FilterAttribute. So if i have the following... ILoggingService and wish to add this my custom FilterAttribute .. i'm not sure how. Like, it's easy for me to do the following... public class MyCustomFilterAttribute : FilterAttribute { public MyCustomFilterAttribute(ILoggingService loggingService) { ... } } But the compiler errors saying the attribute which decorates my ActionMethod (listed above...) requires 1 arg .. so i'm just not sure what to do :(

• How to enable/create elements on the fly

  Hi all I am using a combination of PHP, jQuery and Spry to serve a series of listboxes in which a user will select first the type of vehicle, then the make, then the model and finally the specific model. All my listboxes (SELECT) are working fine, and they update properly using the Spry elements. Each listbox is populated from a different Spry XML Dataset, and this is my problem. If I present all four listboxes to the user, the script has to go and fetch all four lots of XML to populate all four listboxes, taking several seconds. What I want to do is to create/enable the listboxes in order, so at the user selects from the first listbox, the second is created/enabled, when they select from the second, the third is created/enabled... and so on. Setting the disabled attribute is no good because the script has already fetched the XML before this is processed. Any ideas?? Si

  According to the documentation, I should be able to configure the size of my OpenLayers popup by declaring an OpenLayers.Size object in the FramedCloud constructor: this.popup = new OpenLayers.Popup.FramedCloud('featurePopup', this.options.feature.geometry.getBounds().getCenterLonLat(), new OpenLayers.Size(80, 60), this.template(this.formattedAttrs()), null, true, this.onPopupClose ); Currently the popup that is rendered is autosized no matter what dimensions I use in the constructor. I've tried manually setting the autosizing attribute of the FramedCloud to false as well as manually adjusting the css styling for the popup without achieving the results I need. I checked and found some similar issues in the OpenLayers 2.11 issues list, but I haven't found a workaround. Any ideas?

  I am using jsdom with nodeJS. I load in a large HTML document, and am using jQuery to navigate the DOM. I have a case where I have an element, and I need to access the function body of an event listener (onclick). The event listener was added in the source HTML: <a href="#" onclick="javascript:window.open('http://<rest-of-url>'); return false;"></a> The onclick attribute of the DOM element is undefined. btw: what I really want to do is get the URL (please note that <rest-of-url> is not what is in the source, a real URL spec is there) that is specified in the source.

• Boost singleton and undefined reference

  Hello, I globally use singleton pattern in my project. To make it easier - boost::singleton. Current project uses Ogre3d library for rendering. Here is some class: class GraphicSystem : public singleton<GraphicSystem> { private: Ogre::RenderWindow *mWindow; public: Ogre::RenderWindow *getWindow() const { return mWindow; } }; In GraphicSystem constructor I fill the mWindow value: mWindow = mRoot->createRenderWindow(...); I cheked it, everything makes normally. So, now I have to use handler for the window in input system (to get window handle). Somewhere else in another class: Ogre::RenderWindow *temp = GraphicSystem::get_mutable_instance().getWindow(); GraphicSystem::get_mutable_instance().getWindow()->getCustomAttribute("WINDOW", &mWindowHandle); temp is 0x00, and there is segfault at last line (getting custon attribute). I can't understand, why does singleton returns undefined pointer for the window. All another singleton-based classes work well.
