  • PyOpenGL: glVertexPointer() offset problem

    - by SurvivalMachine
My vertices are interleaved in a numpy array (dtype = float32) like this: ... tu, tv, nx, ny, nz, vx, vy, vz, ... When rendering, I'm calling gl*Pointer() like this (I have enabled the arrays before): stride = (2 + 3 + 3) * 4 glTexCoordPointer( 2, GL_FLOAT, stride, self.vertArray ) glNormalPointer( GL_FLOAT, stride, self.vertArray + 2 ) glVertexPointer( 3, GL_FLOAT, stride, self.vertArray + 5 ) glDrawElements( GL_TRIANGLES, len( self.indices ), GL_UNSIGNED_SHORT, self.indices ) The result is that nothing renders. However, if I organize my array so that the vertex position is the first element ( ... vx, vy, vz, tu, tv, nx, ny, nz, ... ) I get correct positions for vertices while rendering but texture coords and normals aren't rendered correctly. This leads me to believe that I'm not setting the pointer offset right. How should I set it? I'm using almost the exact same code in my other app in C++ and it works.

  • Outlook body background no-repeat

    - by kylex
I am sending an Email in HTML format geared toward outlook 2007/2010. I applied a background image to body tag but it does not work. Code as below: <body style="background-image: url('http://example.com/bg.jpg'); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position:top center;"> However if I change the "no-repeat" to "repeat-y no-repeat", it shows the background image but it repeats. Can anyone help me with this?

  • Address calling class [Java]

    - by Samuel
Hello! [I am rather new to Java and Object Oriented programming] I have an abstract class Moveable with the method abstract void move() which is extended by the class Bullet and the abstract class Character, and Character is extended by the class Survivor and the class Zombie. In Survivor and Bullet the move() method doesnt require any parameters while in the class Zombie the move() method depends on the actual position of the survivor. The survivor and multiple zombies are created in the class Gui. I wanted to access the survivor in Zombie - what's the best way of doing this? In Gui i wrote a method getSurvivor() but i don't see how to access this method in Zombie? I am aware that as a workaround i could just pass a [Survivor survivor] as parameter in move() and ignore it in Bullet and Survivor, but that feels so ... bad practice. Thank you for your time! Samuel [I am not sure what tags to set here, please correct me if i'm wrong]

  • Rotate a feature programatically Open Layers

    - by Ozaki
TLDR I want to rotate a Feature in my open layers. I want it to face a certain heading that I am receiving from server. I know that you can make a feature spin on a point or so on: window.setInterval(function() {rotateFeature( pointFeature, 360 / 20, origin)}, 100); as from the open layers example. But I want to be able to face it towards a heading I am given, so. Can I face a feature towards a heading? Can I face a feature(image) in the same way? If not is it possible to automatically calculate the rotation required and position it that way? Or any ideas on how I could do this with the image? (hoping not to have 360 images) Thanks in advance.

  • Tracking graphics tablet input in C#

    - by Martin
I'm writing an XNA application with C#, and I want to be able to control the application with a graphics tablet. All I need to be able to do is track the position and pressure of the pen on the tablet, it would be nice to have some built in gesture recognition but I'm willing to build that myself if needed. My first attempt at this was to use the vbtablet library. However, when I sent this to a friend it failed to work. It seems that the underlying technology is quite old and not supported by some tablets. My second attempt is to play with the Microsoft.Ink system. This looks promising, but I know very little about this subject and I'm struggling to make it work properly - for example I can't find how to read the raw tablet input and disable mouse pointer mode on the tablet when using an InkOverlay. What's the best system to use and what good documentation is there for a beginner in this field?

  • iPhone: Howto get notified when an UIView becomes visible

    - by arne_
Is there a way to get a notification, a callback or some other means to call a method whenever a UIView becomes visible for the user, i.e. when a UIScrollview is the superview of some UIViews, and the ViewController of such a UIView shall get notified when its view is now visible to the user? I am aware of the possible, but not so elegant solution of checking to which position the ScrollView scrolled (via UIScrollViewDelegate-methods) and compute if either one of the subviews is visible... But I'm looking for a more universal way of doing this.

  • How can I scale an image in a CSS sprite

    - by michael
Hi, In this article, http://css-tricks.com/css-sprites/, it talks about how can I crop off a smaller image from 1 bigger image. Can you please tell me if it is possible/how I can crop off a smaller image and then scale the cropped off region before I lay it out? Here is an example from that article: A { background-image: url(http://www.jaredhirsch.com/coolrunnings/public_images/3deb155981/spriteme1.png); background-position: -10px -56px; } I would like to know how can I scale that image after I crop it from from spriteme1.png Here is the URL of the example: http://css-tricks.com/examples/CSS-Sprites/Example1After/ So I would like to know if I can make the icons next to Item1,2,3,4 smaller?

  • jList in Scrollpane, seeking and displaying value of selectedIndex

    - by Mech Software
I have a JList inside a Scrollpane. If you click on the list and move the arrow keys up and down it works like you expect, you can move your selection index and display around just fine. Now, what I want to do is basically have a text box and i'm typing in the text box like "comic" and want it to seek to the index of that value. This WORKS just fine. Where the problem is when the value of the list box is below, or above the viewable area. When it is, the selected index seeks, but does not change the position of the scrollable region. However, if I press the up or down arrows and requestFocus() to the list, and move up and down it seeks to the right viewable area. What am I missing to make this happen WITHOUT changing focus. I want to be able to just type in the list all I want and have it show me what is selected. I feel i'm missing something obvious here.

  • Compiler optimization of references

    - by Phineas
    I often use references to simplify the appearance of code: vec3f& vertex = _vertices[index]; // Calculate the vertex position vertex[0] = startx + col * colWidth; vertex[1] = starty + row * rowWidth; vertex[2] = 0.0f; Will compilers recognize and optimize this so it is essentially the following? _vertices[index][0] = startx + col * colWidth; _vertices[index][1] = starty + row * rowWidth; _vertices[index][2] = 0.0f;

  • Microsoft Flight Simulator SDK Capabilities

    - by Roger
Hello, I have not been able to find detailed documentation about the Microsoft Flight Simulator SDK, so I have a couple of questions regarding its capabilities. I am currently running FS2004(could buy FSX if needed) and would like to know if I could add moving or static boats through the SDK. Ideally, the boat's position would be controlled by an external program at runtime. Secondly, can i access the flight management system through the SDK? I would like to upload a custom flight path through an external program while the plane is flying. So why the plane would follow the original flight path I would like to be able to change it on the go. Thanks

  • How do I wait for "animated scroll to id" to complete before focusing on first form field?

    - by codemonkey613
So, I have a link at the bottom of website. When it is clicked, it scrolls to a form at the top of the page with the animated style. And as it arrives at top of page, it focuses on the first field in form. Currently, this is my code: $(document).ready(function() { $('#goto-show-form').click(function() { $('html, body').animate({scrollTop: $("#show-form").offset().top}, '500'); $('#first-field').focus(); return false; }); }); What happens is it begins scrolling, then focuses to form field while still in process of scrolling, then returns to last position in scrolling process and continues scrolling up. Instead of being smooth, you can see it cuts back and forth. How can I tell jquery to wait until scrolling is complete before focusing to the form field? Here is the website: http://bit.ly/dfjvmT (The link that starts scroll is "Send us your resume" at the bottom.) Thanks.

  • How can I create a JTable where the first column is always in the JScrollPane viewport?

    - by voodoogiant
What's the best way to set up a table in a JScrollPane such that the first column is always on the screen in the same position regardless of horizontal scrolling and overlaps columns that pass underneath? When the scrollbar is at the farthest left, the columns look normal, but as the user scrolls to the right, the secondary columns (2 and on) move underneath the first until the last column appears on the far right of the viewport? I found a sample taken from Eckstein's "Java Swing" book that sort of does this, but it doesn't allow resizing of the first column. I was thinking of some scheme where one JPanel held a horizontal struct and a table holding the secondary columns and another JPanel which floated over them (fixed regardless of scrolling). The struct would be to keep the viewport range constant as the first column floated around. Ideally I could do it with two tables using the same model, but I'm not sure if the whole idea is a naive solution.

  • Developing a GPS car tracking system

    - by Click Ok
I'm in the brainstorming phase to develop a GPS car tracking system requested by a customer. I myself know the directions to build some GPS system to mobile phones and etc. But sincerely I don't know how to start in that project. That is the scenario: 1) The cars will get a device with a SIM CARD that will emit GPS signals. 2) My customer will in any place (home, work, etc) with a web connection will see in the map where the car is located. For me, I have not problems at get the GPS data, convert to usable info and show the position in some map system (like Google Maps or MS Bing Maps, by example). My problem is, how I do to retrieve that "GPS Signal" from device in the car? I will need some kind of "Receiver Device" connected to a web server machine in order to my application to consume that data? Or "automagically" my sodtware will receive the info from a third-party web-service? Or what?

  • Android RadioButton like Behaviour

    - by monxalo
    Greetings, I'm trying to create a single-choice android control, in a horizontal layout, by making use of the RadioGroup behaviour. I can assign the drawable just fine, but i would like to position the label of each RadioButton inside the drawable, is this possible using the standard APIs? <RadioGroup android:id="@+id/switchcontainer" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:orientation="horizontal" android:checkedButton="@+id/RadioButton02" android:padding="3dip"> <RadioButton android:text="id RadioButton02" android:id="@+id/RadioButton02" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:button="@drawable/radio_button" android:paddingRight="2dip" /> <RadioButton android:text="@+id/RadioButton03" android:id="@+id/RadioButton03" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:button="@drawable/radio_button" android:paddingRight="2dip" />> </RadioGroup>

  • MouseWheel: Scrolling vs. Zooming

    - by beaudetious
I've got a Silverlight 4 custom control that basically is several Canvas elements wrapped inside a ScrollViewer. The user can set a property to determine whether to scroll or zoom when using their mouses wheel. In the custom control's MouseWheel event, I check to see if they want to scroll or zoom. If zooming, I determine the delta and modify the custom control's zoom level (which then handles the zooming code for me). The problem is that zooming won't start until the ScrollViewer's current position of the vertical scrollbar is at the top or bottom of the scrollbar. Once their, then the zooming works perfectly. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can prevent scrolling completely so that I only zoom (when the user wants to zoom, that is)? Thanks!

  • Laws of Computer Science and Programming

    - by Jonas
We have Amdahl's law that basically states that if your program is 10% sequential you can get a maximum 10x performance boost by parallelizing your application. Another one is Wadler's law which states that In any language design, the total time spent discussing a feature in this list is proportional to two raised to the power of its position. 0. Semantics 1. Syntax 2. Lexical syntax 3. Lexical syntax of comments My question is this: What are the most important (or at least significant / funny but true / sad but true) laws of Computer Science and programming? I want named laws, and not random theorems, So an answer should look something like Surname's (law|theorem|conjecture|corollary...) Please state the law in your answer, and not only a link. Edit: The name of the law does not need to contain it's inventors surname. But I do want to know who stated (and perhaps proved) the law

  • Placing figure in top-right corner of another

    - by Ivan Dubrov
I want child figure (org.eclipse.draw2d.Figure) to be relative to the top-right corner of the parent (I want place some small icon, which will be ImageFigure, to be 12 pixels from top and right borders). Is there an existing layout manager that can layout child this way? The org.eclipse.draw2d.XYLayout is not capable of measuring position relative to corner other than top-left. Of course, I can: Write layout manager myself Layout children figure every time bounds are changed for the parent (in parent layout() method). However, I would like to know if some existing layout manager provides that functionality.

  • How do I render the scrollable regions of a canvas with IViewObject::Draw?

    - by nirvdrum
Hi, I've been trying to render the entire canvas in an IWebBrowser2 control to a bitmap. IViewObject::Draw seems to be the most promising approach, but I can't get it to render anything that would requires a scroll to show. While I could automate the scrolling and stitch the images together, this would look weird with any fixed position elements. Is this even doable? Additionally, I've tried to set the controller's size to one that would allow the entire contents to display without needing to scroll, but Windows caps the max size to the current screen resolution, so that only gets me partially there. Any help would be much appreciated. I'm currently doing this in the context of Win7 and IE8, but I don't think that should matter much.

  • SoundChannel object plays small portion after being stopped and played again

    - by gok
SoundChannel object is stopped and played again. When played again it plays small portion from the previous position and suddenly jumps back to the beginning. It doesn't play the whole sound before looping. This happens only once, then it loops normally. It happens again if I stop and play. public function play():void { channel = clip.play(trimIn); volume(currentVolume); isPlaying = true; timer.start(); channel.addEventListener(Event.SOUND_COMPLETE, loopMusic); } public function loopMusic(e:Event=null):void { if (channel != null) { timer.stop(); channel.removeEventListener(Event.SOUND_COMPLETE, loopMusic); play(); } } Do I need to somehow reset the soundChannel?

  • Silverlight Binding to TranslateX

    - by Peanut
I have a simple winphone7 application, but I think this would apply to any silverlight. Basically I have an ellipse and I would like to move it with the translate X and Y properties. Here is my attempt: <Ellipse Fill="#FFF4F4F5" Margin="0,0,-3,-3" Stroke="Black" RenderTransformOrigin="0.5,0.5" > <Ellipse.RenderTransform> <CompositeTransform TranslateY="{Binding Y}" TranslateX="{Binding X}"/> </Ellipse.RenderTransform> </Ellipse> I am pretty sure the Binding is set correctly; The problem is it gives me this error when I run the application: 2260 An error has occurred. [Line: 4 Position: 33] which is a XAML error. The error goes away when I comment out the composittransform line. Can anyone point me in a right direction? If you need more code let me know, i'll post more up. Thanks

  • How to read special characters from stdin in Python?

    - by erickrf
I'm having trouble reading special characters from stdin. Here are my attempts: import os dir = raw_input("Dir name: ") Dir name: c:/á os.chdir(dir) WindowsError: [Error 2] The system cannot find the file specified: 'c:/\x81\xe1' Ok, so I tried to get the default system encoding and recode the string from stdin: import locale encoding = locale.getdefaultlocale()[1] print encoding cp1252 unicode(dir, encoding) Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> File "c:\Python26\lib\encodings\cp1252.py", line 15, in decode return codecs.charmap_decode(input,errors,decoding_table) UnicodeDecodeError: 'charmap' codec can't decode byte 0x81 in position 3: character maps to <undefined> Now, I don't know how to solve this. Nor can I understand - why is there a problem when I try to access a directory with a name written in the system default encoding itself??

  • In a digital photo, detecting if a mountain is obscured by clouds.

    - by Gavin Brock
The problem I have a collection of digital photos of a mountain in Japan. However the mountain is often obscured by clouds or fog. What techniques can I use to detect that the mountain is visible in the image? I am currently using Perl with the Imager module, but open to alternatives. All the images are taken from the exact same position - these are some samples. My naïve solution I started by taking several horizontal pixel samples of the mountain cone and comparing the brightness values to other samples from the sky. This worked well for differentiating good image 1 and bad image 2. However in the autumn it snowed and the mountain became brighter than the sky, like image 3, and my simple brightness test started to fail. Image 4 is an example of an edge case. I would classify this as a good image since some of the mountain is clearly visible.

  • zoom_changed only triggers once in google maps api version 3 using MVC

    - by fredrik
Hi, I'm trying to use the MVC objects in google maps version 3. What I can't seem to figure out is why my zoom_changed method is only invoked once. When I first load the map the zoom_changed method is invoked. But not when I zoom on the map. function MarkerWidget (options) { this.setValues(options); this.set('zoom', this.map.zoom); var marker = new google.maps.Marker({ icon : this.icon, mouseOverIcon : this.mouseOverIcon, orgIcon : this.orgIcon }); marker.bindTo('map', this); marker.bindTo('position', this); google.maps.event.addListener(marker, 'mouseover', this.onmouseover); google.maps.event.addListener(marker, 'mouseout', this.onmouseout); } MarkerWidget.prototype = new google.maps.MVCObject(); MarkerWidget.prototype.zoom_changed = function () { $.log(this, new Date()); } Shouldn't the map object fire the zoom event and notify all object's that has "this.set('zoom', this.map.zoom)" ? ..fredrik

  • Changing a Container while using Visitor

    - by Florian
Hi everyone, I implemented the Visitor pattern in C++ using a STL-like iterator for storing the Visitor's current position in the container. Now I would like to change the container while I iterate over it, and I'm especially interested in deleting items from the container, even the one I'm currently visiting. Now obviously this will invalidate the Visitors internal iterator, because it was pointing to exactly this item. Currently, I store a list of all iterators in the container and update them, as soon as anything is added to or removed from the list. So in a way this is similar to the Observer pattern applied to the iterator (as Observer) and the list (as Observable). Alternatively I considered having the visitor() methods return some hint to the Visitor about what happend to the current item and how to proceed iterating, but that doesn't sound like such a good idea either, because the visit() implementation shouldn't really care about finding the next item. So, my question is: What's the best way to keep a visitor working, even when items are added to the container or removed from it. Regards, Florian

  • Move Image or Div Up As Window Resizes?

    - by Wade D Ouellet
Hi, I have an image in my html with a class of "stretch". Currently, with css, this image re-sizes as the window re-sizes to be 100% of the screen width. I would also like it to move upwards as the window is being re-sized. I'm assuming this can be done with jQuery but I am not quite sure. Basically the "top" css value just needs to change as the screen width does. Here is the css that is currently re-sizing it: .stretch { width: 100%; height: auto; min-height: 420px; position: absolute; top: -200px; } Thanks, Wade
