Different BSOD every time I turn on computer

Please help. Every time I turn on computer I receive a different BSOD. I can't even give my computer info because I haven't been able to stay on it long enough. The following are the BSOD that I just received in the last hour. IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA BAD_POOL_HEADER MEMORY_MANAGEMENT I has also started with Windows Error Recovey which I have done but that has froze on me or hasn't helped. I have also reset computer to its original state. Now as soon as I turn on it goes to a BSOD almost immediately. I know you need more info about computer, so if you can tell me what info it is you need, I will get it. I can tell you that it is a desktop.

Can my ISP find out if my wireless is protected or not?

Im just wondering how much my ISP knows about my activities. I have a Modem from them this modem then connects to a SITCOM wireless router which then leads to MY PC's, Phones, Laptops. I really need to know if my ISP knows if my router is in unprotected state of wireless or not. The Sitcom box it not theirs, we payed for it long after getting this internet. Does my Sitcom wireless router send data to my ISP on its own, indicating delicate information such as wireless protection on or off? Or does the ISP's modem fish out this information on its own since our wireless router is connected to it? Would greatly appreciate any answer.

I have bought this thing a month ago: It is so far best dust cleaner that i have ever used and all was well until i left it out of its package for half day. Then it became sturdy and could be torn apart, less sticky and flexible which i video'ed here. Can this item be restored back to fully functioning state as it was before? Maybe it just became dry and i should put it in a place with moisture? Since all was in Chinese, i also do not know the storage conditions that must be met.

How to install Windows 8 in a system which has Ubuntu 12.04 and Windows 7 installed already?

I have a system in which I have installed Windows 7 first. I then installed Ubuntu 12.04 to the system. Now, the boot manager is GRUB Loader and everything works fine as Ubuntu detected that Windows 7 has been installed already. Now, I would like to install Windows 8 too. I plan to install using a bootable USB stick(doesn't matter which medium I prefer though. Does it? ). I have done some research and all the materials I can get state that I cannot practically install Windows 8 after Ubuntu and get all the three OSs to run. Can you help? I want all the three Operating systems to work perfectly.

Configuring NVIDIA Quadro with Dell Precision M4600

After a frustrating couple of weeks when I recently bought my Dell Precision laptop, I managed to fix an issue where Ubuntu (yes, was NOT using Windows, get serious) would not recognize the video card and would cause all sorts of problems all over the place. I ended up one Saturday morning nearly throwing this thing away, when I managed to find a post about NVIDIA Optimus technology... ( http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2358963,00.asp ). Now I am a huge advocate of disruptive new stuff, as long as we keep the broader audience in mind. Anyhow, disabling this (which as the BIOS settings state only work on Windows 7 or later), effectively allow the NVIDIA based Ubuntu driver to kick in full force. No need for a trash can anymore thankfully. As I saw multiple posts all over the place about this, check your BIOS, disable and try the video again to see if this corrects your issues. Best of luck!

So I've managed to setup bind9 and a mail server, but it seems there is something wrong. I don't quite under stand this error: The configuration of your mail servers and your DNS are not ok! The report of the test is: mail.domain.com. - mail.domain.com - 208.xxx.xxx.xxx - lisa.domain.com Spam recognition software and RFC821 4.3 (also RFC2821 4.3.1) state that the hostname given in the SMTP greeting MUST have an A record pointing back to the same server. Can anyone explain this to me in a bit more detail, and maybe point me in a direction to solve this?

Cable installed - now my hub has no connection the router/modem - what do I need to buy?

Corrupt mysql system tables

I am having issues with the columns_priv table in the mysql system database. I cannot add new users currently. I have tried repairing it using mysqlcheck --auto-repair --all-databases --password but I get the following output: mysql.columns_priv Error : Incorrect file format 'columns_priv' error : Corrupt Is there any other way to repair this table, or how do I go about replacing it with a blank table? What would I lose by doing that? Thank you Edit (Additional Info) mysqld is currently using 100% cpu constantly. i wanted to delete my laptop hard drive and reinstall the os that came on the media with the laptop originally. i booted from the windows disk and reinstalled windows but this did not delete my hard drive and even worse it made a windows.old folder with all my old junk on my c drive how do i get a clean/ deleted c drive with new install of my os? i have a small 120 Gig solid state hard drive with just one partition. i would like to create two partitions on the new install. my main issue is not being able to get a clean install such that the result is a pure windows laptop with no junk files that have accumulated over time. please advise.

What specs to consider when buying SSD?

When I bought "traditional" hard drives, I have been told to consider specs like RPM (5400, 7200, etc.), buffer size (16MB, 32MB etc.), and interface (IDE, SATA, etc.). (did I miss something?) What about solid state drives (SSD)? What are some important specs to consider in terms of performance and reliability? By the way, are SSDs just as reliable as traditional hard drives now? A couple years ago I heard they're not, but that's a "long time" ago now. Thanks for your answer.

Why has the NoScript icon disappeared?

Why has the appearence of NoScript changed? Using Noscript in Firefox (Microsoft Windows): Until now there has been an icon (the S icon) in the lower right of the screen. But now there is an button instead with the text "Options". Left clicking this button seems to bring up the menu as right clicking the old icon. Can I restore the previous state? Is there an auto-update function in NoScript and if so could it have caused the change? If it exists can the auto-update function be disabled? Platform: Firefox 3.0.6, NoScript 1.9.0.6, Windows XP 64 bit, 8 GB RAM.

Srvany Starts but Application doesn't

I used Instsrv and Srvany as to create a service on W2008; the Srvany service starts okay but the application does not start. The application is TeamSpeak 3 btw. I don't think it's an issue with my W2008 setup as I have a previous version of the application set up the exact same way and running perfectly. Also, I have no problem manually starting the application even when I copy and paste into the 'Run' box the path used for the application by Srvany. I looked at Events but nothing there except notification that the service has entered the running state, didn't really expect any errors as the service has started even though the application hasn't. Any suggestions on what could be the problem?

How can I fix an inconsistent NTFS file system without Windows?

I have a Dell laptop that came with Windows from the factory. Since then, I have installed Linux and replaced the hard drive with an SSD. The NTFS partition is inconsistent (a result of bad sectors on the HDD) and needs to be fixed, but I cannot boot into Windows to run chkdsk. How do I fix this problem? Until I do, I cannot move my NTFS partition to expand space on my root filesystem, which is critically low. EDIT: All of my partitions were cloned from my dying HDD to my SSD via Clonezilla. There are no bad sectors on the SSD, but the NTFS partition is still in an inconsistent state.

Installing Java 6 on Ubuntu 10.04 fails on missing Java 6 JRE package

I'm trying to install Java 6 on Ubuntu 10.04 and it's been harder than it should be. In another question about installing Java on Ubuntu/Linux it said that I needed to do the following: sudo add-apt-repository "deb http://archive.canonical.com/ lucid partner" However, that failed and I kept getting: sudo: add-apt-repository: command not found The solution to this, was to run: sudo apt-get install python-software-properties So, that seemed to work and the command above to "add-apt-repository" seems to complete with no errors. And I have run the following to confirm it got added. sudo vi /etc/apt/sources.list But, now when I run the following: sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jre I get: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Package sun-java6-jre is not available, but is referred to by another package. This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source E: Package sun-java6-jre has no installation candidate Where do I go from here?

I want to buy a $40000 1 tera flop cluster to keep it in a room. What are the standard configurations? Cluster is supposed to do molecular dynamics simulations on biological systems. I'm proposed a 4 pc with 8 cores each by the selling company I'm deadling with. It looks like I also need infiniband. Does some one has an experience -- what phisical memory should I buy etc? I know things change very quickly... Still there might be a point or two to state. Edit: OS is supposed to be linux, application is gromacs.

Scheduling VMWare ESXi 4.1 VM Restart

We had a virtual machine running on a VMWare Server host on Windows Server 2003. The machine is set up with non persistent disks. We had a windows task schedule set up that ran a batch file to reset the machine each week so that it returned to it's original state. The batch file that we had running was: "C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Server\vmware-cmd" "C:\Virtual Machines\VirtualMachineName\VirtualMachineName.vmx" stop hard "C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Server\vmware-cmd" "C:\Virtual Machines\VirtualMachineName\VirtualMachineName1.vmx" start We have since migrated this machine to the free version of ESXi 4.1. Can anyone let me know if and how it is possible to schedule such a restart?

Looking for WYSIWYG tool to create and edit HTML5 based presentations (slides)

There are a lot of different implementations for HTML5 based slide presentations out there, like Google Slides or S5. But all that I have seen so far, seem to need a person being able to (and willing to) read and write HTML-Code. My company still uses Powerpoint, but some people are quite unhappy about its limitedness, e.g. the lack of possibilites to embed animation (other than just appear/disappear) without using flash. I'd love to suggest a state-of-the-art solution based on HTML5, but I don't even need to think about suggesting a solution where the project people need a techie to add or edit the content of a slide. I am not looking for an editor for non-technies to create complex HTML5/javascript based animations, of course, those should be done by a developer... basically non-technies should be capable of doing the stuff they are doing in powerpoint now. Can I run my MacBook in clamshell mode without being connected to power?

Hi, At home, I run my MacBook in clamshell mode (closed lid, external display). This works fine when you're connected to the power adapter, but it doesn't work when running on battery. That's how it's supposed to be and Apple has some kb entry on the issue. But it's also lame. You can prevent the machine from sleeping when closed by running InsomniaX, but then it'll assume the builtin display is still active, so you end up with a two-display setup when you really only want the external. This is obviously less than ideal. So, is there any work around, hack, utility, black magic that I can use to make it run in clamshell mode while strictly on battery power? Also, bonus points for a solution that makes the AC status not affect the machine state at all. (Like, you know, it does normally, when not in clamshell.)

Ubuntu cannot access internet, LAN is fine

I have an Ubuntu 8.04 LTS server that is directly connected to our Comcast Business Gateway modem and I have configured it with 1 of our 5 allotted Static IPs. My other machines on our LAN can connect to this server (via ssh, web, ping, etc.) but I cannot access this server from outside our network, and this machine cannot get out to the internet either (ping google.com fails with unknown host). Intel RAID0 on Windows 8 not Displaying Correct Media Type

I have my primary C Drive which consists of 2 Intel 120GB SSD Drives in a RAID0. I have a clean install of Windows 8 Pro, latest MEI software, latest RST software, latest Intel Toolbox. Prior to this I had installed Windows 8 Pro as an upgrade. When I went into the Optimize Drives while in the Upgrade installation, it showed the Media Types as Solid State Drives. However, now since I am in a brand new install, it is showing the Media Type as Hard Disk Drive. I am worried about this because of the trim not working properly. Before when in the upgrade, it showed SSD as the media type and the Optimize option would perform a manual trim. Unfortunately, my search credentials on Google are so common to many other things (ie Raid0, SSD, Windows 8, Media Type) that all I am finding are useless topics. Any way to make service do not autostart in Ubuntu/Debian, but leave K00 scripts in place?

I need to have only stop scripts in rcN.d (runlevels 0,1,6) for apache2. So that I always start it by myself, but when reboot occurs server will shut down apache2 properly. And when I change runlevel 2-3 server doesnt' touch apache daemon (leaving it in the state it is). Basically, I just need a legal way to remove apache2 startup symlinks from rc2.d - rc5.d. With tools like update-rc.d. I can just remove those symlinks by hands, but I'm not sure if this is a proper way for this.
