• IFS Achieves Oracle Exadata Optimized and Oracle Exalogic Optimized Status

• Solarized Theme in Terminal Vim on Xubuntu

  I recently setup my laptop with Xubuntu 13.04 and after installing and setting up all my dotfiles, which have previously worked fine with Ubuntu 13.04 with XFCE installed, my colorscheme in Vim is using the wrong colors. I dropped the terminalrc file from the Solarized repository in ~/.config/xfce4/terminal/terminalrc and setup my dotfiles (which can be found at http://github.com/davejlong/dotfiles). • How do I install pepper-flash on Chromium?

  I have Chromium web browser on my Lubuntu 13.04 (pre-installed). I use LX Terminal (pre-installed) to write commands. I am trying to download flash player on Chromium using instructions on this site : sudo add-apt-repository ppa:skunk/pepper-flash After typing in my password, this worked. Now sudo apt-get update I didn't need to type in my password, as I continued on the same terminal, but got W:/ and E:/ fetch file errors sudo apt-get install pepflashplugin-installer I continued on the same terminal despite the fetch file errors... and they said pepflashplugin-installer could not be found. Is the last error because of fetch file errors, or because I need to download pepflash-plugin-installer somewhere? Or is it because of something else? I cannot download the Chrome browser, and not looking to use flash player on my Firefox web browser (installed using lubuntu software centre).

• Only upgrading the kernel!

  I have seen some people saying to install the kernel of Ubuntu 11.04 (probably 2.6.38..) to use on Ubuntu 10.04 (2.6.35...may be) to only be able to use a Wimax device driver without upgrading their whole Ubuntu System. I find in this method something wrong, but I cannot argue as they are saying that it is OK!!. I tried to insist to upgrade to the latest Ubuntu version with all the software. But I also have the question myself : Does upgrading only the kernel is Okay ? or in other words, Is it OK to have Hardy system with Precise kernel (by adding precise's repository and removing it after upgrade). What are the possible problems ?

• Can't extract .tar.xz archive on 13.10 because permission denied

  I used to work with Ubuntu 13.04 and also i have installed Vlc 2.1.0 with a .tar.xz archive on that , but after release of 13.10 , i erased 13.04 and installed 13.10 . so i tried to install vlc 2.1.0 with the normal PPA (sudo add-apt-repository ppa:videolan/stable-daily sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install vlc browser-plugin-vlc ) way but it installed vlc 2.0.9 for me , so i 'm remove that and tried to install with the way i have installed it before on 13.04 (wget -c download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/vlc/2.1.0/vlc-2.1.0.tar.xz tar -xJvf download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/vlc/2.1.0/vlc-2.1.0.tar.xz cd vlc-2.1.0 sudo apt-get build-dep vlc ./configure make sudo make install) , but suddenly an error disturbed me in extracting the .tar.xz file : "Error setting owner : Operation not permitted" , but i the owner of file is me and i changed the all owner settings in file properties to read and write but it don't works ,so what can i do ? and also if it don't work , suggest me a good way to install Vlc 2.1.0 ! (Thanks - sorry for my bad English)

• SQL Server 2012 edition comparison details are published

  Interesting stuff, particularly if you're doing BI. BISM tabular and Power View will not be in Standard Edition, only in the new - presumably more expensive - Business Intelligence Edition. That kind of makes sense as you need a fairly pricey edition of SharePoint to really get all the benefits, but it's a shame there won't be some kind of limited version in Standard Edition. And Always On will be in Standard Edition but limited to 2 nodes. I really expected Always On to be Enterprise-only so this is a great decision. • Kuppinger Cole Paper on Entitlements Server

  Kuppinger Cole recently released a paper discussing external authorization describing how organizations can "future proof" their enterprise security by deploying Oracle Entitlements Server.  By taking a declarative security approach, security policy can be flexible and distributed across multiple applications consistently. You can get a copy of the report here. In fact Oracle Entitlements Server is being used in many places to secure data and sensitive business transactions. The paper covers the major  use cases for Entitlements Server as well as Kuppinger Cole's assessment of the market. Here are some additional resources that reinforce the cases discussed in the paper.   A while ago Spotify (the streaming music service) came out with a preview for Linux of their client. I had succesfully run it throughout 10.04. Now I'm on 10.10, I can't seem to find it in the package manager, let alone install it. Software Sources gives me this; Failed to fetch http://repository.spotify.com/dists/stable/Release Unable to find expected entry non-free/source/Sources in Meta-index file (malformed Release file?) Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead. So...as I'm paying for Spotify what...umm...do I do? :P

• What package do I need to install to develop plugins for gedit?

  I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 with python 2.7.3 and PyGObject and I'd like to develop plugins for Gedit in python. I found a simple looking tutorial for this sort of thing here. According to the tutorial, I need the Gedit module to interact with the plugin interface: from gi.repository import GObject, Gedit I keep getting an import error when trying to import the Gedit module. So, my question is: what package do I need to install to get this module? • New Release of ROracle posted to CRAN

  Oracle recently updated ROracle to version 1.1-2 on CRAN with enhancements and bug fixes. The major enhancements include the introduction of Oracle Wallet Manager and support for datetime and interval types.  Oracle Wallet support in ROracle allows users to manage public key security from the client R session. Oracle Wallet allows passwords to be stored and read by Oracle Database, allowing safe storage of database login credentials. In addition, we added support for datetime and interval types when selecting data, which expands ROracle's support for date data.  See the ROracle NEWS for the complete list of updates. We encourage ROracle users to post questions and provide feedback on the Oracle R Forum. In addition to being a high performance database interface to Oracle Database from R for general use, ROracle supports database access for Oracle R Enterprise.

Is there another way to use AccountsService with Python? I could not find more documentation about AccountsService and Python.
