• Importing photoimpact .ab3 file database into another album program

  I have Photoimpact Album v5 which has now maxed out at 65,000 photos with database information. I can export the database and file information to a csv or dbase 4 file but I cannot find any way to import the information to a competative Photo Organization/Database product like Adobe Lightroom, ACDSee Pro3 or Photo Collector, etc... which is more modern, will work on Vista/Windows7, and not have any file limitations. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really cannot reinput data information for 65,000 photos manually. I would use any good software that I can transfer my files and data ifno to.

• Force Windows 7 to pin a file with no extension to the Jump List for Notepad

  I want to add the "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts" file to the Jump List for notepad.exe on a Windows 7 machine, but since the file does not have an extension there is no default program associated with it. This means it never shows up in the recent list and you also cannot drag it to the task bar to manually pin it to the start list. I've had problems with jump lists before, and there are ways to use the Registry or File system to change how Jump Lists work, but I haven't seen anything to manually edit a jump list yet. Is there any way to force an item to be pinned to the jump list when that item does not have a program associated with it?

  I have a small website where some content is displayed within a HTML tag using AJAX. The content is simply taken from another page on the same web site. However, sometimes instead of loading the parsed PHP file, the browser displays a download box instead. I downloaded the file and this is what it looks like a text file mixed with binary or gzipped data. • How do I fix a corrupt .cab file?

  In Windows XP, I have a folder of install files- an .exe pointing to 3 Setup.cab files. As the install progresses, it hangs on Setup2.cab as it installs tutorial_page.chm (a Help file). I have 3 options when it hangs: Abort, Retry and Ignore. Both Abort and Ignore rollback the install and exit. But if I keep pressing Retry the install will progress & this action has successfully installed the program (eventually) for me. I AM WONDERING IF I CAN EXTRACTRE-PACKAGE THE .CAB? From the installed program can I grab the help.chm file and replace it into Setup2.cab for a successful install? I am aware of the Microsoft Cabinet Software Development Kit http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310618 and How To Manually Modify and Rebuild CAB Files http://support.microsoft.com/kb/176810 but 1.)want to ask if this is even possible & 2.)don't know how to make a .DDF file for Makecab.exe

• Software to store my password on a crypted file and access it through another password

  I'm looking for a software that allows me to store some passwords in something like "a text file", access it through a password, read my passwords if required and close it again. I want something really straightforward, double click on file, right click "Add new password", add password, description and close. The file must be really secure, I'll store all my passwords there. I know about some command line solutions but I want my setup to be really fast on reading. Do someone know if such a software exist and can point me in the correct direction? I would like to find it freeware, but I'm ok with some low cost tools too.

The problem is that the application is crashing and my only was to access the application is through the mysterious (*.ddb) file (99% of the application size.) The application contains an also mysterious dll (NK_SQLite.dll).   I want a colleague of mine to send me a sensitive MS-Word document via e-mail. Since Word's encryption is questionable, I would like to encrypt the file using a passphrase. Do you know of any user-friendly encryption tool that a novice user can easily use? I wouldn't like to prompt for keys or anything like this - just provide simple interface for single file encryption. EDIT: I have solved this using Putty Secure Copy, through a Linux box I have somewhere. The user downloaded scp to the same directory where the file was, and I have send him the exact scp command by mail. Nice! • SQL Server 2005 Agent running SSIS job can't find file path

  Basically I'm trying to run a functioning SSIS job (created in BIDS) under the SQL Server Agent - it reads a set of Excel spreadsheets and dumps the results into a table. The problem I'm having is getting the SSA to read the file path, the relevant part of the error is: "0x80004005 Description: "'N:\Assets Property & Facilities Management\Monthly Absence.xls' is not a valid path. Make sure that the path name is spelled correctly and that you are connected to the server on which the file resides." I've tried using UNC paths (\servername\ share) but the BIDS rewrites the paths to standard file paths (c:\directory\filename), I've also tried a proxy which runs this step under an Admin account. I've also tried changing the path to UNC on the SSIS job on the server. Also I'm forcing it to use the 32 bit DTEXEC, so it's not that either Always get the same error, do I need to re-create the job from scratch?

  I have been developing a new JavaScript application which is rapidly growing in size. This technique has worked marvelously for me - as it has created only one global footprint in the DOM and has given me a very flexible framework to grow each additional feature of the application. However - I am reaching the point where I'd really rather not keep this entire application inside one JavaScript file. I'd like to move from having one large uniqueApplication.js file during development to having a separate file for each feature in the application, featureOne.js - featureTwo.js - featureThree.js Once I have completed offline development testing, I would then like to use something, perhaps Google Closure Compiler, to combine all of these files together - however I want these files to all be compiled inside of that scope, as they are when I have them inside one file - and I would like for them to remain in the same scope during offline testing too. I see that Google Closure Compiler supports an argument for passing in modules but I haven't really been able to find a whole lot of information on doing something like this. Anybody have any idea how this could be accomplished - or any suggestions on a development practice for writing a single JavaScript Library across multiple files that still only leaves one footprint on the DOM?

• Windows 7 Stopped Using hosts file for DNS Resolution

  I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Starting today, I noticed that DNS resolution is not reading my %SYSTEMROOT%\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file. I say this because I added two new entries to the file and when I run 'nslookup' on the command line, they don't resolve. Further, just trying to resolve 'localhost' results in my primary DNS server being queried. I've read several threads that suggest that the file might have been corrupted and to move it aside and create a new one. I've done that, and no improvement. Is there some sort of registry key that controls the sequence of resources used for DNS resolution (similar to nsswitch.conf on UNIX)? What else could be causing this? Thanks in advance.

  What is the easiest way to permanently change association (program which opens etc.) for several file extensions at once? What I mean? Let's say you used TextEditorUncool up until now to open txt, dat, bat and abc files. Now you got TextEditorReallyCool and you wish if there was an application which on the left had a name of the program, and on the right a list of file extensions associated with it (which it, let's say, opens). Is there such a thing? Usually programs change this thing during installation (some even ask before), but in the case of portable programs one usually has to do it by hand, and for editors which open a gazillion of different file extensions, it gets tiresome really fast. • Single file changed: intrusion or corruption?

  rkhunter reported a single file change on a virtual server (netstat binary). It didn't report any other warning. The change was not the result of a package upgrade (I reinstalled it and the checksum is back as it was before). I'm wondering whether this is a file corruption or an intrusion. I guess an intrusion would have changed many other files watched by rkhunter (or none if the intruder had access to rkhunter's database). I disassembled both binaries with objdump -d and stored the diff here: https://gist.github.com/3972886 The full dump diff generated with objdump -s is here : https://gist.github.com/3972937 I guess a file corruption would have changed either large blocks or single bits, not small blocks like this. Do these changes look suspicious? How could I investigate more? The system is running Debian Squeeze.

• Import LDIF file to external server

  As a follow-up to my previous question, which I've resolved part of, what we're trying to do now is take an exported .ldif file of the "Users" container on our OS X Server and import it into a separate OpenLDAP server on an EC2 instance. This we'll use for LDAP user authentication of other apps without having to open our internal network to LDAP traffic. The exported .ldif file thinks the DN of the "Users" container is cn=users,dc=server,dc=domain,dc=com. Is it easiest to configure the EC2 OpenLDAP server to think that it's domain is the same so the container is imported to the proper place? Or should we edit the text of the .ldif file to change the DN to match the external naming? Hopefully that makes sense... but I'm confused as to the best way to accomplish this.
