• Can I get my http back in the address bar in Firefox?

  Since Firefox 7 (or 6?) they silently removed "http" from the address bar. Previously, when you clicked it, "http" showed up again, allowing to easily just change http into https. So far, I found two ways to get it back, but isn't there a setting I can use to have it permanently in vision again, or at least when I click it? Way 1: copy selection and paste it again Way 2: type the whole scheme again in front of the address ...

  I've been asked to setup a server for exchanging non-critical company data e.g. marketing PDF's etc. Can anyone recommend a Linux-based solution I can use? We're looking for something with a really simple GUI front end here... I've already setup SFTP but they found the process 'too-techy'. Any ideas would be really welcome... Thanks!

• What kind of scaling method is it, when you add new software to a single server to handle more users? [on hold]

  I have read about scaling (in terms of terminology and methods). This got me confused about the following: On a single computer, running a web server (say apache), if the system administrator adds a front, caching, reverse-proxy such as Varnish, which in that scenario increase the amount of requests this server is able to handle. My question: Setting up such cache increases the capacity of the server to handle work, hence scales it, but without increasing neither the amount of nodes or the node's capacity. What is the name for this type of scaling?

• Is it safe deploy Windows Mobile handsets when we only have one Exchange 2003 server?

  Would it not be a security risk to have phones connecting directly to our Exchange server rather than a front end server in a dmz? Also, we'd need to disable SSL on the Exchange Virtual Directory; would this cause the communications between the handsets and Exchange to be un-encrypted? Any advice would be appreciated!   Yesterday I (a professional rugby prop of somewhat limited intellect) landed in http://htmlagilitypack.codeplex.com/ and found myself stranded in a town with no signposts. The locals don't need signposts - they know their way around - so who gives a hoot about visitors? Well I'm a visitor and I'm lost. Here's my plea to the good burgesses of Codeplex-sans-signs: HELP!! Let me back-track and explain what landed me at the bottom of this tangled ruck. There's a "Download" button positioned near the top-right of the Codeplex web page, right? Like the Sword of Damocles, a down-arrow to the left of the button indicates, presumably, what a download would include: CURRENT 1.4.0 Stable DATE Fri May 7 2010 at 7:00 AM STATUS Stable With a simple-minded confidence that has since deserted me (the confidence - not the simple-mindedness), I clicked "Download". This introduced 3 new files to my computer: HtmlAgilityPack.dll, HtmlAgilityPack.pdb, and HtmlAgilityPack.XML This is when the first stab of doubt penetrated that globe between my cauliflower ears that I call a head. Where's the dot cs? Somewhere in Codeplex, I'd read advice to another lost soul to "download and build the HTMLAgilityPack solution". As I've done so many times as an All Black prop, I glared at the opposition front row - ah, I mean the 3 new files. Shouldn't one of them have a ".cs" on the back of his jersey - er, on the end of its name? Or is this just how they play the game in Codeplex-sans-signs? Undaunted (props have more courage than sense) I packed into my first C# scrum. I'm willing to prostrate myself and grovel to the first kind face that passes in front of my rapidly clouding sight. So help me, I'd even tug my forelock if I had one! • Converting a WPFToolkit DataGrid from 1D list to 2D matrix

  Hello - I am wondering if anyone has attempted the following or has an idea as to how to do it. I have a WPFToolkit DataGrid which is bound to an ObservableCollection of items. As such, the DataGrid is shown with as many rows in the ObservableCollection, and as many columns as I have defined in for the DataGrid. That all is good. What I now need is to provide another view of the same data, only, instead, the DataGrid is shown with as many cells in the ObservableCollection. So let's say, my ObservableCollection has 100 items in it. The original scenario showed the DataGrid with 100 rows and 1 column. In the modified scenario, I need to show it with 10 rows and 10 columns, where each cell shows the value that was in the original representation. In other words, I need to transform my 1D ObservableCollection to a 2D ObservableCollection and display it in the DataGrid. I know how to do that programmatically in the code behind, but can it be done in XAML? Let me simplify the problem a little, in case anybody can have a crack at this. The XAML below does the following: * Defines an XmlDataProvider just for dummy data * Creates a DataGrid with 10 columns o each column is a DataGridTemplateColumn using the same CellTemplate * The CellTemplate is a simple TextBlock bound to an XML element If you run the XAML below, you will find that the DataGrid ends up with 5 rows, one for each book, and 10 columns that have identical content (all showing the book titles). However, what I am trying to accomplish, albeit with a different data set, is that in this case, I would end up with one row, with each book title appearing in a single cell in row 1, occupying cells 0-4, and nothing in cells 5-9. Then, if I added more data and had 12 books in my XML data source, I would get row 1 completely filled (cells covering the first 10 titles) and row 2 would get the first 2 cells filled. Can my scenario be accomplished primarily in XAML, or should I resign myself to working in the code behind? Any guidance would greatly be appreciated. • UITableView not displaying parsed data

  I have a UITableView which is setup in Interface Builder and connected properly to its class in Xcode. I also have a "Importer" Class which downloads and parses an RSS feed and stores the information in an NSMutableArray. However I have verified the parsing is working properly (using breakpoints and NSlog) but no data is showing in the UITable View. Any ideas as to what the problem could be? I'm almost out of them. It's based on the XML performance Apple example. Current code creates a table and positions it over the element (el, image in this case). If you go back to directory root and click on the link to the file the grid table is displayed, if you hit 'refresh' button -- the script runs but the table is not injected. Secondly, although the table HTML is injected in IE, it does not display it. I tried adding nbsp's to make sure its not ignored -- to no avail.   Hi I'm trying to create a maze-generator, and for this I have implemented the Randomized Prim's Algorithm in C#. However, the result of the generation is invalid. I can't figure out if it's my rendering, or the implementation that's invalid. • How to configure a GridView CommandField to trigger Full Page Update in UpdatePanel

  I have 2 user controls on my page. One is used for searching, and the other is used for editing (along with a few other things). The user control that provides the search functionality uses a GridView to display the search results. This GridView has a CommandField used for editing (showEditButton="true"). I would like to place the GridView into an UpdatePanel so that paging through the search results will be smooth. The thing is that when the user clicks the Edit Link (the CommandField) I need to preform a full page postback so that the search user control can be hidden and the edit user control can be displayed. Edit: the reason I need to do a full page postback is because the edit user control is outside of the UpdatePanel that my GridView is in. It is not only outside the UpdatePanel, but it's in a completely different user control. I have no idea how to add the CommandField as a full page postback trigger to the UpdatePanel. The PostBackTrigger (which is used to indicate the controls cause a full page postback) takes a ControlID as a parameter; however the CommandButton does not have an ID...and you can see why I'm having a problem with this. Update on what else I've tried to solve the problem: I took a new approach to solving the problem. In my new approach, I used a TemplateField instead of a CommandField. I placed a LinkButton control in the TemplateField and gave it a name. During the GridView's RowDataBound event I retrieved the LinkButton control and added it to the UpdatePanel's Triggers. This is the ASP Markup for the UpdatePanel and the GridView <asp:UpdatePanel ID="SearchResultsUpdateSection" runat="server"> <ContentTemplate> <asp:GridView ID="SearchResultsGrid" runat="server" AllowPaging="true" AutoGenerateColumns="false"> <Columns> <asp:TemplateField> <HeaderTemplate></HeaderTemplate> <ItemTemplate> <asp:LinkButton ID="Edit" runat="server" Text="Edit"></asp:LinkButton> </ItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> <asp:BoundField ...... </Columns> </asp:GridView> </ContentTemplate> </asp:UpdatePanel> In my VB.NET code. I implemented a function that handles the GridView's RowDataBound event. In this method I find the LinkButton for the row being bound to, create a PostBackTrigger for the LinkButton, and add it to the UpdatePanel's Triggers. This means that a PostBackTrigger is created for every "edit" LinkButton in the GridView Edit: this did not create a PostBackTrigger for Every "edit" LinkButton because the ID is the same for all LinkButtons in the GridView. • VFP Unit Matrix Multiply problem on the iPhone

  Hi. I'm trying to write a Matrix3x3 multiply using the Vector Floating Point on the iPhone, however i'm encountering some problems. This is my first attempt at writing any ARM assembly, so it could be a faily simple solution that i'm not seeing. I've currently got a small application running using a maths library that i've written. I'm investigating into the benifits using the Vector Floating Point Unit would provide so i've taken my matrix multiply and converted it to asm. Previously the application would run without a problem, however now my objects will all randomly disappear. This seems to be caused by the results from my matrix multiply becoming NAN at some point. While debugging i've managed to notice that if i were to say _A = C prior to the return and after the ASM, _A will not necessarily be equal to C which has only increased my confusion. I had thought it was possibly due to the pointers I'm giving to the VFPU being incrimented by lines such as "fldmias %0!, {s0-s2} \n\t" however my understanding of asm is not good enough to properly understand the problem, nor to see an alternative approach to that line of code. Anyway, I was hoping someone with a greater understanding than me would be able to see a solution, and any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you :-)

  OK, for two days now i have been trying to solve an error i have inside the cellForRowAtIndex method, let start by saying that i have tracked down the bug to this method, the error is [CFDictionary image] or [Not a Type image] message sent to deallocated instance. I know about the debug flags, NSZombie, MallocStack, and others, they helped me narrow it down to this method and why, but I do not know how to solve besides a redesign of the app UI. • How do I use connect to DB2 with DBI and mod_perl?

  I'm having issues with getting DBI's IBM DB2 driver to work with mod_perl. I get this error in apache's error log: DBD::DB2::dr connect warning: [unixODBC][Driver Manager]Data source name not found, and no default driver specified at /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8/Apache/DBI.pm line 190. DBI connect('SAMPLE','username',...) failed: [unixODBC][Driver Manager]Data source name not found, and no default driver specified at /data/www/perl/test.pl line 15 First of all, why is it using ODBC? The native DB2 driver is installed (hence it works as CGI). Running Apache 2.2.3, mod_perl 2.0.4 under RHEL5. This guy had the same problem as me: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg22909.html But I have no idea how he fixed it. What does mod_php4 have to do with mod_perl? Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm having no luck with google. Update: As james2vegas pointed out, the problem has something to do with PHP: I disable PHP all together I get the a different error: Total Environment allocation failure! Did you set up your DB2 client environment? I believe this error is to do with environment variables not being set up correctly, namely DB2INSTANCE. However, I'm not able to turn off PHP to resolve this problem (I need it for some legacy applications). So I now have 2 questions: How can I fix the original issue without disabling PHP all together? How can I fix the environment issue? I've set DB2INSTANCE, DB2_PATH and SQLLIB variables correctly using SetEnv and PerlSetEnv in httpd.conf, but with no luck. Note: I've edited the code to determine if the problem was to do with Global Variable Persistence.
