• Clever recording using AVFoundation

  Hello I am working on my master thesis and I am programming app for iOS using AVFoundation framework. I can make by myself session and attach devices to it and record video with sound. The main problem is that I need continous recording (3hours or longer). After three hours user will stop recording and user will choose time eg. 15 mins (max 30 mins) and only this last 15 mins will be stored to iphone memory. Is it possible to 'cut' video while recording or should I record it eg. in 10 minutes block and then delete old video segments and last two segments connect to one bigger? Will perform these connections (stop recording, start new recording and then connect these two segments) lags in final long video segment? Is there any way to perform this 'clever' recording? Thank you for any ideas.

  Is there any tool that can automate recording online streaming radio? I've been use totalrecorder which it has below upside: 1. Handy scheduler. 2. Support create recording templates, so I can customize some high/low quality recording. The downside are it requires to open the streaming radio in browser and can't have another sound source. It's recording what comes out from the speaker. What I am looking for is given a online radio url, and the tool can record the audio stream. No matter if I am playing any other music or not. Thanks.

• How do I disable alert beeps

  My HP pavilion laptop is getting pretty old and the speakers no longer work properly. So I've disabled all audio devices, including disabling the light-touch volume controls at boot-up. The one sound still here that I can't get rid of is teh alert beep whenever there's an error. It's annoying at the best of times, but when your laptop has no other sounds at all it's intensly irritating! Nothing I change in the windows settings or in the BIOS seems to have any effect. Any ideas how to switch them off?

The ideal scenario is as follows: User tries to create an entity in CRM In pre-create hook a 3rd party library function is called (or web service or whatever), filled with relevant info, which tries to create the respective entity on the server If the call fails, creation fails in CRM If the call succeeds, the entity is created in the CRM AND additional fields are filled with return values from the call More specifically, I want to do something like this when user tries to create a new entity instance: try { ExternalWebService.CreateTrade(ref TradeInfo info) //this was initialized on the external server myCRM_Trade_Entity.SerialNo = info.SerialNo; CreateNew(myCRM_Trade_Entity); } catch (whatever) { fail; } What would be the suggested way to do this? • How to position an element so that it does not flow off the visible screen

  I am creating pseudo-tooltips on a page that has a lot of "a" and "span" elements that have these tips associated with them. Everything in the creation of the element is fine, and it displays fine. However, since this is a page with a lot of data, as you get towards the bottom of the visual area the tooltips start to flow past the bottom edge of the window. My initial attempt to compensate for this with window.innerWidth/innerHeight didn't come out too well. I'm using jQuery for DOM manipulation (but not jQuery UI). Given the event itself, and the height and width of the tooltip (which I can get with getBoundingClientRect()), how can I position this element so that the bottom of the tooltip is never below the edge of the window?

• How to efficiently SELECT rows from database table based on selected set of values

  I have a transaction table of 1 million rows. The table has a field name "Code" to keep customer's ID. There are about 10,000 different customer code. I have an GUI interface allow user to render a report from transaction table. User may select arbitrary number of customers for rendering. I use IN operator first and it works for few customers: SELECT * FROM TRANS_TABLE WHERE CODE IN ('...', '...', '...') I quickly run into problem if I select few thousand customers. There is limitation using IN operator. An alternate way is create a temporary table with only one field of CODE, and inject selected customer codes into the temporary table using INSERT statement. I may then using SELECT A.* FROM TRANS_TABLE A INNER JOIN TEMP B ON (A.CODE=B.CODE) This works nice for huge selection. However, there is performance overhead for temporary table creation, INSERT injection and dropping of temporary table. Do you aware of better solution to handle this situation?

  What I'm trying to do is to take a movie (in an Matroska container), convert all audio tracks to AC3 and don't touch anything else. • Fujitsu Siemens V6535 laptop doesn't wake up - crash when going into standby?

  I'm having trouble with my laptop (Fujitsu Siemens model V6535). It runs Windows 7, and after I upgraded from Vista I've noticed something that makes me really angry. When my laptop goes into Standby, the power LED changes to red and starts blinking (standby mode). When I push the power button to wake it up it, the blinking LED changes to green but nothing else happens. Nothing on the display, no HDD sound. When I press the power button for a few seconds and then try turn it on again, it doesn't display anything. I have to unplug the charger, shut it off, and power it on again without the power cable. Then it starts working. A few days ago I upgraded the BIOS to the newest version, but it doesn't help. Does anyone have any idea what can be wrong?

• What are the main differences between SRV records and TXT records?

  Hi there, I'm trying to consolidate domain names for the servers I look after to just use one panel instead of 3 or 4, and one thing stopping me is that the provider I originally wanted to move them to only lets me the following kinds of records: A MX NS CNAME TXT The first four I understand, but I'm not sure about the relationship (if any) between SRV records and TXT records. Can I use TXT records in the place of SRV records? They both seem to be general text records to just point at a particular server without needing to specify a particular protocol, so it doesn't sound like a totally unreasonable assumption, but I'd rather check here before I break something. If I can only set the above records, does that mean I'm essentially unable to so any SRC record redirecting? Thanks!

  Hi everyone, This may sound a bit less relevant but I couldn't think of a better place to ask this question. Now consider this situation, you install an OS on your system, set the timezone and time, do some stuff and turn it off. (Note that there is no power going in to the computer). Now next time (say after some hours or days) you turn it on again, and you see the updated time. How is this possible even when my computer is not connected to the internet and was consuming no power during the period it was down.(Is there some kind of hardware hack?) please clarify!

• Can't access DD-WRT set in DHCP forwarder

  This might sound amazingly stupid but I have a DD-WRT (micro) router that I placed in my network to act as a switch and as a WAP while relying on my cable modem to be the DHCP server. In my attempts to get the configuration right I put the router into DHCP forwarder which then made everything work correctly. The problem is now I can't seem to connect to the router in any fashion to add mac addresses to the WAP access list. Is there something I'm missing or do I need to try a hard reset on it and reconfigure everything?

  Hi, I've been working in the creation of some custom components adding functionalites to the basic components such as a Datagridview. Now I want to create a custom Form ... I mean, when I choose add new item in the VS menu, there is a Windows form and some varians of it like an about box, or Dialog, that are simple Forms with a custom controls already on it. I want to have a login form for my set of applications, so this login is avialable for all the development team to use it in the different modules. • UITableView don't react on a tap

  I have a fully working grouped tableview. But when i just tap on a cell - nothing happens. willSelectRowAtIndexPath is not even being called. All outlets are set correctly, userInteractions are enabled, tableView is the only view on a page. Googling for hours made no success. Everyone has a selection feature from the begining and someone even tries to ged rid of it. Help, please. I have to imagine that someone out there has written a framework I can use to simplify the creation of these kind of simple GUIs. Doing a quick google, the following look like the key players in .net: ASP.Net dynamic data framework SubSonic NakedObjects for .net Has anyone worked with any of these and have any preferences? More importantly, are there other frameworks that would be good to evaluate in this space?

  Hi! Im doing a Naval Battle for University. I decided to do it in C#. My board is 20 x 20 of mini (20x20) PictureBoxes. The problem is when I load the board I got a huuuge delay for draw all of them in the panel which contains them. So I thought to ThreadPool my method to escale the picuteres boxes creation and drawing fester. Is this the correct aproach? I'm wondering if even if I launch 20 threads to create and set the picturesoboxes together I will still have the graphic delay. When I checked the Thread count in perfmon there was around 7000 threads created in worker process.
