• Restrict IPMI access on Dell BMC and iDRAC to an allowed IP range

  I'm trying to secure the iDRAC's and BMC's on some of my Dell servers (R210, R410, R510). I want to restrict access to IPMI commands to only a few IP addresses. I've successfully restricted access to the iDrac using the instructions from http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/software/smdrac3/idrac/idrac10mono/en/ug/html/racugc2d.htm#wp1181529 , but the IP restrictions do not affect IPMI. A separate management network is not practical at this time because of lack or ports and some Dell BMC's don't offer a separate port. I'm told by my networking group that our switches don't support trunking, so using the vlan tagging is not an option either. Is there a way restrict the IPMI access to a list of allowed addresses? FYI, for various reasons, I have a mix of Dell servers with BMC's, iDrac Express and iDrac enterprise management features.

  For botting purposes, I have to keep my Win Server 2012 R2 running without logging-off after I disconnect from Remote Session. I can access it using the django server instead of lighttpd.   I am trying to use MySQL federated tables. The problem is that the documentation specified at http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/federated-use.html says that a federated table should be created using the following format for the CONNECTION parameter: scheme://user_name[:password]@host_name[:port_num]/db_name/tbl_name E.G. CONNECTION='mysql://username:password@hostname:port/database/tablename' CONNECTION='mysql://username@hostname/database/tablename' CONNECTION='mysql://username:password@hostname/database/tablename' The problem is that the table I am trying to connect to has non-standard characters in it and I cannot find the proper way to scape them in the connections tring. For example, a table named `Table (one)` . Which has the space and the parenthesis, requiring backticks surrounding it inside any SQL code. Anyone know the proper way to do this?

• Watchguard firebox: public IP addresses behind firewall with as much usable IP addresses as possible

  Our ISP assigned us 16 public IP addresses that we want to assign to hosts behind a Watchguard firebox x750e. The IP addresses are: x.x.x.176/28 of which x.x.x.177 is the gateway. The hosts will be running software that needs to be directly assigned the public IP address so 1:1 NAT is not an option. I found this document that gives examples on how to assign public IP addresses to hosts behind the firewall, using an optional interface: http://www.watchguard.com/help/configuration-examples/public_IP_behind_XTM_configuration_example_(en-US).pdf However, I can't implement scenario 1 as it won't allow me to use the same subnet on both interfaces. As for scenario 2, splitting the address range into 2 subnets will decrease the usable hosts on the optional interface to 5 (8 - network - broadcast - optional interface ip). I'm convinced that there must be a better way to address this problem and maximize the number of usable IP addresses but I'm not very familiar with this specific firewall. Are there any suggestions on how to keep the hosts behind the firewall with public IP addresses while maximizing the usable IP addresses? thanks

• Can't figure out how to make Slitaz USB persistent

  I installed Slitaz on my USB. However I can't figure out how to make it persistent automatically. There are different sources telling me different ways to make it persistent. One told me to add "slitaz home=usb" to the syslinux.cfg file like this: append initrd=/boot/rootfs.gz rw root=/dev/null vga=normal autologin slitaz home=usb but it didn't work for me. http://www.slitaz.org/en/doc/handbook/liveusb.html gave an example of how to do it manually but I didn't try it and I also want it to happen automatically. custompc.co.uk/features/602451/make-any-pc-your-own-with-linux-on-a-usb-key.html is an older article that also explains how to make the USB persistent but I don't want to try it cause it looks outdated (from 2008) does anyone know the best way to make the USB automatically persistent?

  I have a VPS (Ubuntu 10.04) that hosts multiple domains, one of them being a CodeIgniter (PHP) web app. The others are just static websites, no fancy backend languages required. Well I am starting a new project and want to use Django. I have Django installed, mod_wsgi enabled in Apache2, but when I did the first steps on the documentation (https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/howto/deployment/wsgi/modwsgi/) it seemingly overwrote my existing Apache2 configuration and served up the Django welcome page to all my domains. What should my httpd.conf file should look like so that it doesn't overtake all my domains.

  I have a scenario when i have to establish peer-to-peer preshared key based VPN to a vendor. This vendor uses Cisco EasyVPN with Cisco VPN 3000 as access concentrator. • Filezilla/Puttygen doesn't recognize private key file

  I have generated a key for an Ubuntu Virtual Machine running on Azure Cloud Services http://www.windowsazure.com/en-us/manage/linux/how-to-guides/ssh-into-linux/ openssl req -x509 -nodes -days 365 -newkey rsa:2048 -keyout myPrivateKey.key -out myCert.pem When loading the private key into Filezilla, it asks me to convert the format, however, when converting the key it fails, the same happens with puttygen from linux console, using this: puttygen myPrivateKey.key -o myKey.ppk In both cases I have the following error: puttygen: error loading `myPrivateKey.key': unrecognised key type By the way, this key doesn't have a passphrase. I found an old thread about it, but I'm using 0.6.3 version which is newer than what this thread recommends: http://fixunix.com/ssh/541874-puttygen-unable-import-openssh-key.html I've managed to solve this issue by using another gui client Fugu for Mac, but one of my co-worker uses windows and I still have to figure this out.   How do I mount dynamic disk on new system without access to the old OS ? I need to move Dynamic data disk from old Windows XP (Pro, SP3) system, where disk crashed, to new Windows system without having access to the old OS. On new system, Dynamic disk shows as "Dynamic - Foreign". Microfoft has instructions for moving Dynamic Disk [1]. But Microsoft assumes having access to the old system. But I do not have acess to the old system. I am struck with "Dynamic - Foreign" static of the disk on new system. • SQL Server 2008 Install fails error reading etwcls.mof

  I receive the following error when trying to install Sql Server 2008 Standard on a Windows Server 2008 box. Error reading from file D:\x64\setup\sql_engine_core_inst_msi\PFiles\SqlServr\MSSQL.X\MSSQL\Binn\etwcls.mof. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it. When searching the interwebs I only find information about compiling this file but not reading. The file exists in the location requested. I have run the WMIDiag tool and there doesn't seem to be any issues. I am not sure what else I can do to solve this issue and can't seem to find anything on the internet about it. • Windows 7 Easy Transfer does not start (Windows XP)

  Windows 7 Easy Transfer does not start on my Windows XP system. I installed Windows 7 Easy Transfer and when I click to start it nothing happens. Not even an error message. I uninstalled and reinstalled a few times with the same results. I even tried starting it from C:\Program Files\Windows Easy Transfer 7\migwiz.exe with the same results. Nothing happens! Any one else run into this issue? Any suggestions on how to start it up differently? This is my work system so I do not know if they have it locked down. This is a Windows XP, Dell OptiPlex755 built about 3 years ago. I downloaded the 32-bit from this website: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/windows-easy-transfer and yes my system is 32-bit ;)

After checking that the dll did in fact exist in the folder I called regsvr32 and received another error message Will try reinstalling as recommended.

  Hello, Fedora 12 2.6.32.9-70.fc12.i686 I downloaded the gparted iso and burnt it to a CD. gparted-live-0.5.2-1 This GParted Live was created by: create-gparted-live -l en -b u -e e -d sid -m http://free.nchc.org.tw/debian -s http://free.nchc.org.tw/debian-security -g http://free.nchc.org.tw/drbl-core -n 2.6.32-3 -i 0.5.2-1 The files and folders: isolinux live syslinux COPYING GParted-Live-Version I put the disk in and reboot. Nothing happens. I just get a flashing cursor in the top left hand corner. I then have to switch of the power button to get it to reboot. I have done this a number of time and the results are the same. Can anyone tell me how to boot from the gparted liveCD? Many thanks for any suggestions,

  Hello, I'm trying to enable NTLM authentication on a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine with IIS 7.5 for a specific file in my web root. I've been following these instructions http://docs.moodle.org/en/NTLM_authentication#IIS_Configuration In the IIS Manager I open the Authentication module, disable anonymous authentication and enable Windows Authentication however according to every post I can find on the matter I should have a 'providers' option appear but I don't. I've double checked in Server Manager that the 'Windows Authentication' security feature is enabled for IIS. Any help anyone can offer would be great, Thank you!

  Does anybody know a few details about signed software and /Applications/Utilities/Installer.app? I didn't find more at Wikipedia (https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Installer_%28Mac_OS_X%29) and the UNIX-Manual (man 8 installer). I have here a valid signature from iLife 11 Installer.app (http://i.imgur.com/Y3raY.jpg). Does this mean I can be 100% sure that nothing is modified? It means I can trust this PKG because signed by Apple? Or did I get something wrong?

  Apache has this built in since 1996 which is 17 years ago... for Microsoft's IIS Web server which is available on Windows 7, is there a way to make it be able to sort the file listing by file modification dates? For example, show the file listing with the label "Date", "Filename", and clicking it will sort the files by that attribute.   What is the easiest way, without having to create your own utility, to set the default service version to the latest in Azure Blob Storage ? http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windowsazure/dd894041 There is basically nothing to be set in the Azure portal and I am having a difficult time finding working utilities to use for Azure. For some reason Azure is defaulting to the oldest version which does not send things like the http range header for example. Any utility that can do this ? Thank you.

• Word 2010 not printing body text on pages with images

  I've got a document exhibiting bizarre behavior -- when I print, the body text style is only displayed on pages without images. Headings, header and footer, and captions are printing on the page, along with any graphics such as border styles applied to the style, but the text itself doesn't print -- except for en dashes. The text is pretty basic -- a justified Calibri style. Images are their own style, a centered paragraph item. There's no floating image boxes or text boxes going on, everything's a paragraph style. It's not a print driver issue. I get identical behavior on both a HP and Brother laser printer. It's also not a paragraph-level style issue; I've inserted enough dummy text to move a printing paragraph on a page with no images to the next page, which has an image, and the paragraph does not print on the next page. Has anyone run into an issue like this and knows the solution?

  I want to use MSCOMM control in my MS Excel 2010 VBA. The control shall appear in Tools-> Additional Controls dialog box in VBE of MS Excel 2010. I am trying to register MSCOMM32.OCX on my 64-bit Windows 7 machine. However, as I try to register it using regsvr32 as shown in the command window below, I am getting shown error popup. What am I missing here? Why is this component not getting registered? Or this is not the correct way to include MSCOMM control in MS Excel VBA?
