• Run Windows batch file on schedule as non-Administrator user

  I'm running Windows XP x64 SP2. I have a Windows batch file that with some Robocopy commands that I want to run on schedule. I created a scheduled task for it, running as a dedicated user (not the user I'm logged on as), but it simply did not run. I could see successful logon events in the security log, so it got that far, but the commands in the batch file definitely weren't getting executed. After reading through all of http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winservermanager/thread/d47d116e-10b9-44f0-9a30-7406c86c2fbe/ I tried making the target user account an Administrator and that fixed it - the batch file ran just fine. Nothing else seemed to work. The thing is, I want it to run under a low-privileged account. Does anyone know how can I get a batch file to run on schedule as a non-Administrator?

• Chrome not selecting correct language for Help tab

  When I click Help in Chrome, a new tab appears with the Google help links etc as expected, but I have a message saying: "This Help Centre is not currently available in your language...", etc. The drop down box at the bottom is not selected correctly for en-GB (my location). Instead it is set at the first language on the list. This happens if I am signed in to my Google account or not. Selecting English from the drop-down works ok, so no great drama. Just wondering if anybody else sees this behaviour? EDIT: Using current stable build 8.0.552.224

• How do I compile mercurial 1.5.2 on debian?

  I downloaded the files for Mercurial 1.5.2 from http://packages.debian.org/sid/mercurial (mercurial_1.5.2-1.debian.tar.gz, mercurial_1.5.2-1.dsc and mercurial_1.5.2.orig.tar.gz). How do I get a .deb package out of these? I tried to follow the instructions at http://www.debian.org/doc/maint-guide/ch-build.en.html but they don't work. I tried to unpack the two archives and run dpkg-buildpackage or debian/rules build but that fails with: dh --with quilt clean dh_testdir debian/rules override_dh_auto_clean make[1]: Entering directory `/home/user/packages/mercurial-deb' cp -a mercurial/__version__.py mercurial/__version__.py.save cp: cannot stat `mercurial/__version__.py': No such file or directory make[1]: *** [override_dh_auto_clean] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/user/packages/mercurial-deb' make: *** [clean] Error 2 That's because the directory mercurial is inside mercurial_1.5.2/. • How do I fake 2 discrete monitors using a DualHead2Go?

  I just got a [Matrox Dualhead2Go|http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/gxm/dh2go/] for use with my MacBook Pro. I realise that the reason it works is that it fakes 1 big (wide) monitor. I also kind of depended on the software that came with it to trick OSX into accepting it as 2 monitors. Turns out the support is kind of lame: it just adds shortcuts for maximizing the window to whatever screen you want. And it even gets that wrong, since my dock doesn't auto-hide, but it doesn't take it in account while resizing, causing my window do end up "behind" my dock. (I've made a AppleScript that does the resize correctly, that I'll post below). There's two glaring issues this causes: Full screen (video, etc.) takes up both monitors, and dialogs just pops up in the middle. Is there a way to trick OSX, or at least a way to fix these issues?

  I looking for ip changer what is faster than PROXY (i tried Elite Proxy Switcher + Firefox add-on, but it's too slow. I set automatic switching to 4 sec and yes he change the ip every 4 sec however it's not enough because it loads pages very slowly.) Secondly I tried the TOR Project but this is not good..because the TOR would be nice and working good however he needs more than 10 seconds, a new identity and it's not to good for me because i want to change my ip lass than 10 sec. So I find the solution. This is IPfucker alias ipFlood (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox.../ipflood/) But it does not work on all sites unfortunately...because this is just simulation "Simulate the use of a series of proxy changing at each new connection.". Anyone knows a solution to the problem? Is there an alternative (VPS, Proxy, TOR)? Thanks in advice.

  I am trying to use encfs in reverse mode. I understand that the passphase is used to encrypt a key which is then stored encrypted into the encfs6.xml file. What I do not understand is the following. Create en encrypted virtual fs of a folder by using passphrase A unmount this folder. Delete all contents including the encfs6.xml file If you then try to do the same with another passphrse I would expect that a new encfs6.xml would be created. However I get the following error message: "Error decoding volume key, password incorrect" So I wonder, what volume key is incorrect, I thought it was in the encfs6.xml file ?

  I'm installing a 2008 instance on a 2003 machine which is already running 2005. I need to set up domain groups for the security setup step: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms179530.aspx On Windows Server 2003, specify domain groups for SQL Server services. All resource permissions are controlled by domain-level groups that include SQL Server service accounts as group members. The security admins had to make my account a domain admin - which they were hesitant to do. The account under which SQL Server Setup is running must have permissions to add accounts to the domain groups. Is there a specific security setting which would allow my account to add accounts to a group?

• Installing Sharepoint 2007 on Windows Server 2008 R2

  we are using in our lab a clean installation of Windows Server 2008 R2 which is running as Hyper-V instance. Today we wanted to install a clean installation of Sharepoint 2007 with SP1 on this machine and we explorer an error that we are not able to install it. • How do I delay email delivery using Entourage 2008 with Exchange, e.g. using the X.400 Deferred-Delivery header?

  I'd like to delay the delivery of email that I send so that I can time delivery when the recipient is unlikely to be reading email and I can reduce the likelihood of getting into a chat-like conversation. I'm using Entourage 2008 and Exchange hosted by Rackspace. I tried naively adding a Deferred-Delivery header after reading http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc2156.html and www.itu.int/rec/T-REC-F.400-199906-I/en , but my mail was delivered immediately. Ideally the delay would occur on the MTA instead of my MUA so that delivery would still occur even if my laptop were disconnected from the network at the delivery time I specify. My best workaround at the moment is to habitually use Entourage's Send Later button when composing mail and then click Send/Receive at the end of the day. This is less than ideal because recipients are often reading mail at the end of my day, and I often get immediate replies. Matt

• DNS and IPs - Does DNS send the IP back to the client?

  I ran across a site that talked about routing all cients requesting by IP to a "dead end." The clients accessing the site via ip it claimed were typically automated exploit tools and bots. Legitimate users type in the web address by it's domain question. With this context in mind, I don't really understand how DNS really works. I thought it worked by sending an IP back to a client for the requested DNS (like a phone book.) The client then uses the IP to access the site. • How can I make Firefox remember my session while still clearing browsing history on close?

  I am aware, thanks to this thread ( https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/forum/1/381229 ), that Firefox doesn't save sessions when browsing history is cleared at close, as effectively the open tabs are themselves cleared from the history before the session is saved. But I would like Firefox to behave differently. Is there any way to change Firefox's behavior so it will clear my browsing history when it closes, but remember only that a certain list of tabs were open, and then restore those tabs when it opens (not even necessarily with those tabs' histories)? I'm running FF 3.5.6 on Mac OS X 10.5. Thanks.

• I just ordered 70/10 line, and need a new router I think?

  Before I had the 25/5 line and the n standard router did just fine. Now it doesn't do the job. Online speedtest reads at 82 so I have the line. But my laptop is getting less than 30 in my room. • Does RDNS for mail server have to match the mail server hostname exactly?

  Typically when setting up a mail server, I create an rDNS record for the mail server IP to match the mail server hostname (ex: mail.example.com). Can I instead set the rDNS ptr to match the parent domain (e.g. example.com), if this server is being used for multiple purposes, and still send mail successfully (i.e. not be classified as spam b/c of mismatched rDNS)? Thanks! EDIT: The article at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forward_Confirmed_reverse_DNS seems to indicate that it might be more complicated than I had thought. For instance, 1) I did not know that you could have multiple PTR records for a given IP; 2) it appears that as long as each PTR record matches an A record, everything is good (basically nullifying my question). Would you agree?

• Multiple client connecting to master MySQL over SSL

  I successfully configured a MySQL replication over SSL between 2 servers accross the internet. Now I want a second server in the same location as the replication slave, to open a connection to the master db over ssl. I used the same command found here http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.1/en/secure-create-certs.html to generate a new set of client-cert.pem and client-key.pem with the same master db ca-cert/key.pem and I also used a different Common Name. When I try to initiate a connection between this new server and the master db, it fails : mysql -hmasterdb -utestssl -p --ssl-ca=/var/lib/mysql/newcerts/ca-cert.pem --ssl-cert=/var/lib/mysql/newcerts/client-cert.pem --ssl-key=/var/lib/mysql/newcerts/client-key.pem ERROR 2026 (HY000): SSL connection error It's working without SSL.

D:\temp\package.rc This will output a whole lot of .bin files These are just cab files so we need to do a mass rename “ren *.bin *.cab” Once done select all cab files and extract to a new sub folder \extracted In \extracted you will see all the msi, msp and 7z files you need) I try to apply the msp directly with no result msiexec /p messenger.msp /a messenger.msi I also try doing a admin install with nothing being extracted.

After downloading a 1.5mb exe it executed, dowloaded and installed additional files. After that the program opened. It gave me a feeling that that could have written in flex. if some body could clear this then that could be nice... besides, i went to the mafia ii official site to download the demo and again it asked whether i have steam installed and i said yes. then the firefox application launch dialog box appeared. and again i had this question how to launch an application using firefox... ?? may be i should ask this as a separate question but since it is associated with the above question i asked it here...

I'm in the process of creating custom channels, since we have certain software which should be available for all nodes of satellite, e.g. puppet, facter, subversion, php (newer version than present in base). I've tried to find documentation on best practices on this. How should they be set up, how to handle different arch, how to handle noarch packages. How to sync updates to dependencies when updating a custom package in a custom channel (e.g. php is updated, how to fetch all updated dependencies). The channel management documentation from RHEL (http://www.redhat.com/docs/en-US/Red_Hat_Network_Satellite/5.3/Channel_Management_Guide/html/Channel_Management_Guide-Custom_Channel_and_Package_Management.html) doesn't provide me with enough information on how to solve any of theese issues. All tips, tricks and information regarding this would be great!

  I installed Debian with kernel 2.6.32-5-686 on a Hyper-V virtual machine. I had to add a legacy network card. So, I'd like to be able to look locally on my PC and verify the settings. Where can I find the settings for Flash locally? Surely the plugin cannot be heading to Macromedia itself for them (that is a future too bleak to contemplate). I am running Ubuntu 10.04. Thanks, Joe
