  • Passing a variable to javascript via a link.

    My website has a javascript variable (addselectedsubdivision) that loads a neighborhood name from a box on the left to a box on the right. I was hoping I could build a link and then us PHP to add the subdivision letter, neighborhood, and city so that when you click on the link it goes right to this page and loads the neighborhood name in the box on the right. However, I can't get the variable to pass to the new page. Any suggestions? This work for '/index' and '/login' paths. But I'm getting 404 response for '/static/login' when invoked from the browser. I'm expecting that '/static/login/' and '/login' should behave the same. What could be wrong here? Would appreciate any help. Thanks!

    Hey all, I'm currently working on a robot interface GUI, using C#. The robot has two sensors, and two powered wheels. I need to let the user the option to load a Look Up Table (LUT) during runtime, one for each sensor, that will tell the robot what to do according to the sensor's reading. I think the best way to do it is using a .csv file, formatted like so: index , right wheel order, left wheel order the index is an int between 0-1023 and is actually the sensor's reading. the orders for the right and left wheel are integers, between -500 - 500. Example - left sensor's readings: 1,10,20 meaning: sensor reads 1 -- left wheel 10 rpm right wheel 20 rpm So my question is this: what is the best way to implement it? using a dataset?(if so, how?) using an array? (if so, how do I load it during runtime?) Any help would be much appreciated, Yarok

For portrait mode I added the files under layout-xlarge and for landscape in tablets I added files under layout-xlarge-land, but just to test if its working I tried switching the background color under landscape to green, but it didnt seem to work. Is there anything else I need to alter for code to recognize landscape mode for tablets?

    I have a note class that belongs to a user (ie a user can create many notes). clip from my notes controller class NotesController < ApplicationController before_filter :authenticate_user! respond_to :html, :xml, :json # GET /notes # GET /notes.xml def index @notes = Note.includes(:user).order("created_at DESC") respond_with @notes end When I ask for the index in json results for example /notes.json, it returns the notes but only returns user_id for the user object. I would like it to also include user.username (and would be curious how to have the whole user object embedded). Bonus question: I could not find a way to make the column show as author_id and have it relate back to user. If this is easy to do, how do you do it?

We cannot compile the sample anyway as the Maven compiler keeps looking up the references files and errors with checksum validation failed. Thanks

    I have a simple SEO task. There's a City model and a Brand model, and I have to create 1st-level URLs for both (e.g. site.com/honda and site.com/boston). What's the preferred routing/controller combination to do this in Rails? I can only think of map.connect '/:id', :controller => 'catchall', :action => 'index' class CatchallController < ApplicationController def index if City.exists?(:slug => params[:id]) @city = City.find_by_slug!(params[:id]) render 'cities/show' else @brand = Brand.find_by_slug!(params[:id]) render 'brands/show' end end end but it seems to be very un-Rails to put such logic into the controller. (Obviously I need to make sure that the slugs don't overlap in the models, that's done).

    Since i'm working with Titanium i realzed that its current JavaScript Interpreter doesn't accept specific coding-styles. So for for-loops and if-statements i have to have braces, even though i only want to span one line. Furthermore there is more i have to change if i want to use a Javascript Library like underscore.js. The .htaccess at the /forum subdirectory contains this: RewriteEngine On RewriteBase /forum RewriteRule ^index.html$ index.php [L,NE] RewriteRule ^(.*)-t-([0-9]+).html(.*)$ showthread.php?tid=$2$3 [QSA,L] RewriteRule ^(.*)-t-([0-9]+)-([0-9]+).html$ showthread.php?tid=$2&page=$3 [QSA,L] followed by other rules mapping SEO-friendly URLs to the true URLs. mydomain.com/forum/a-thread-t-1.html returns the page showthread.php?tid=1 but so does mydomain.com/forum/forum/a-thread-t-1.html, mydomain.com/forum/forum/forum/a-thread-t-1.html and so on. I don't want this behavior - I want pages accessed as /forum/forum/* to return a 404. Any hint on where I had been wrong?

  • Can MySQL reasonably perform queries on billions of rows?

    I am planning on storing scans from a mass spectrometer in a MySQL database and would like to know whether storing and analyzing this amount of data is remotely feasible. I know performance varies wildly depending on the environment, but I'm looking for the rough order of magnitude: will queries take 5 days or 5 milliseconds? Input format Each input file contains a single run of the spectrometer; each run is comprised of a set of scans, and each scan has an ordered array of datapoints. There is a bit of metadata, but the majority of the file is comprised of arrays 32- or 64-bit ints or floats. Proposed schema I'm planning on doing things "right" (i.e. normalizing the data like crazy) and so would have a runs table, a spectra table with a foreign key to runs, and a datapoints table with a foreign key to spectra. The 200 Billion datapoint question I am going to be analyzing across multiple spectra and possibly even multiple runs, resulting in queries which could touch millions of rows. Assuming I index everything properly (which is a topic for another question) and am not trying to shuffle hundreds of MiB across the network, is it remotely plausible for MySQL to handle this? UPDATE: additional info The scan data will be coming from files in the XML-based mzML format. The meat of this format is in the <binaryDataArrayList> elements where the data is stored. Each scan produces = 2 <binaryDataArray> elements which, taken together, form a 2-dimensional (or more) array of the form [[123.456, 234.567, ...], ...]. These data are write-once, so update performance and transaction safety are not concerns.   • Unexpected htaccess behaviour (mod_rewrite and apache)

    Yeah, mod_rewrite is driving me crazy. Here is the problem: my htaccess RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?url=$1 [L,QSA] when i try to access the page advantix (so address was www.mywebsite.com/advantix), i'm being redirected to advantix/?url=advantix Looking at the access log, i have a suspicious 301 in the middle "GET /advantix HTTP/1.1" 301 335 "-" "Mozilla/5.0" "GET /advantix/?url=advantix HTTP/1.1" 200 186 "-" "Mozilla/5.0" There is one important detail: advantix is a directory. So, if i comment that rule, advantix goes to the folder and list the files. Why it applies automatically the / if there's a folder matching? I don't want to reach the folder, i want to reach index.php?url=advantix with a call to advantix. I have the rewriteLogs too, but they didn't help more. My vhost conf has Directory tag with Options All, if helps, i don't know much about that.

    I want to make following function: 1)input is a number. 2)functions are indexed, return a function whose index matches given number here's what I came up with: def foo_selector(whatfoo): def foo1(): return def foo2(): return def foo3(): return ... def foo999(): return #something like return foo[whatfoo] the problem is, how can I index the functions (foo#)? I can see functions foo1 to foo999 by dir(). however, dir() returns name of such functions, not the functions themselves. In the example, those foo-functions aren't doing anything. However in my program they perform different tasks and I can't automatically generate them. I write them myself, and have to return them by their name.

  • Default controller name is removed on browser refresh (CodeigniterPHP/Nginx issue?)

    For all pages in my codeigniter app except my default controller, when I refresh the browser the url isn't affected as one would expect. However for my default controller, main.php, when when I refresh the browser at "http://localhost/main" or "http://mysite.com/main", the main part is stripped off the url. So the browser bar shows just "http://localhost" or "http://mysite.com". Totally lost on where to start with this but was just wondering if anyone has come across this before...? Here's what I think could be the relevant part of my nginx.conf (if Nginx is the problem). if ($request_uri ~* ^(/main(/index)?|/index(.php)?)/?$) { rewrite ^(.*)$ / permanent; }

    Suppose i have an array $x = (31,12,13,25,18,10); I want to reduce this array in such a way that the value of each array element is 32. so after work my array will become $newx = (32,32,32,13); I have to generate this array in such a way the sum of array values is never greater than 32. so to create first value, i will reduce 1 from second index value i.e. 12, so the second value will become 11 and first index value will become 31+1 =32. This process should continue so that each array value becomes equal to 32.

  • What's the easy way to test for 304 reponses?

    I need to test if my 304 responses are working, but my development environment is pretty hard set on force no-cache. Is there an easy way to modify the max-age value of the cache-control header before it goes out? I'm perhaps a bit optimistic in hoping chrome (or an extension, or FF) has a console command letting me alter the if-modified-since header then send the request. Maybe paste something into a telnet connection?
