• OIM 11g : Multi-thread approach for writing custom scheduled job

  In this post I have shared my experience of designing and developing an OIM schedule job that uses multi threaded approach for updating data in OIM using APIs.  I have used thread pool (in particular fixed thread pool) pattern in developing the OIM schedule job. The thread pooling pattern has noted advantages compared to thread per task approach. I have listed few of the advantage here ·         Threads are reused ·         Creation and tear-down cost of thread is reduced ·         Task execution latency is reduced ·         Improved performance ·         Controlled and efficient management of memory and resources used by threads More about java thread pool http://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/essential/concurrency/pools.html The following diagram depicts the high-level architectural diagram of the schedule job that process input from a flat file to update OIM process form data using fixed thread pool approach    The custom scheduled job shared in this post is developed to meet following requirement 1)      Need to process a CSV extract that contains identity, account identifying key and list of data to be updated on an existing OIM resource account. 2)      CSV file can contain data for multiple resources configured in OIM 3)      List of attribute to update and mapping between CSV column to OIM fields may vary between resources The following are three Java class developed for this requirement (I have given only prototype of the code that explains how to use thread pools in schedule task) CustomScheduler.java - Implementation of TaskSupport class that reads and passes the parameters configured on the schedule job to Thread Executor class. package com.oracle.oim.scheduler; • Why is HttpClient's GetStringAsync is unbelivable slow?

  I have a Windows Phone 8 project where I've taken to use the PCL (Portable Class Library) project too since I'm going to build a Win8 app to. However, while calling my api (in Azure) my HttpClient's GetStringAsync is so slow. I threw in a couple of debugs with datetime and GetStringAsync took like 14 seconds! And sometimes it takes longer. What I'm doing is retrieving simple JSON from my Azure API site. My Android client has no problem with getting that same data in a split second... so is there something I'm missing? The setup is pretty straight forward: HttpClient client = new HttpClient(); client.DefaultRequestHeaders.Accept.Add(new MediaTypeWithQualityHeaderValue("application/json")); client.DefaultRequestHeaders.Add("X-Token", "something"); string responseJSON = await client.GetStringAsync("url"); I've places the debug times right before and after the await there, in between it is 14 seconds!   I'm trying to use the SmugFig SmugMug API on Android. It was designed for J2SE I would imagine, so I'm not sure it will even work on Android, but I figured it was worth trying as opposed to trying to create my own API. When I load the project though, I get the following error: Conversion to Dalvik format failed: Unable to execute dex: null It doesn't say what package it fails on, just "Android Packaging Problem", but it did not do this before I added SmugFig and it's dependency JARS to the build path. Where should I look? Or does this mainly me that it just won't work with those libraries?

• Adding a self-signed certificate to iphone Simulator?

  I have a self-signed certificate at the endpoint of my API. I'm trying to test some things using the simulator but am getting "untrusted server certificate". I have tried to use safari on the simulator to download the .crt file, but that doesn't seem to work. Where does iPhone Simulator get its keychain from? How can I add a trusted certificate so my application will work? UPDATE I got it to work by creating a CA and then adding a CA certificate using the iPhone provisioning tool. Then I was able to have a certificate signed by that CA certificate on the API server and the NSConnection just worked. I was not able to get it to work using a self-signed certificate for some reason. I need to re-attempt this using the provisioning software. My real question is how do I get this to work on the simulator? I would think that the simulator uses the keychain of the actual computer.

  I am writing an ebook reader that supports the epub format (i have the parsing of open epub working), but I would like to support the reading of Adobe DRM locked epubs. I have read threw the adobe digital editions site (faq and support pages) and googled, but alas as yet I have not found any docs on the api to: authorise the pc using the users adobe id creds and decrypt the epub for parsing by my app. Does anyone have any pointers to docs or apis? I would prefer apis in Python, C++. But any api is better than nothing ;-) UPDATE1: i am writing my app on Desktops (linux, mac and windows)

  Sometimes in my OpenGL application I get an access violation in the following API call: wglMakeCurrent(NULL, NULL); The application only has one single thread, and I've checked that before that call, both the DC and HGLRC that are currently used are correct and valid. There are three different windows with OpenGL content, and they're all redrawn on WM_PAINT messages and if a refresh is required due to user interaction (e.g., picking an object). Also this access violation happens on different machines with different graphic cards, so I don't think it's a driver issue. What could make this API call crash? What should I investigate in the app code to find out where/why this happens? I'm really lost here since I've checked everything I could think of already. I hope someone can give me hints/ideas on what more to check.

  I'm trying to upload some pictures using php cURL on a classified ad website .I think that I set all the parameters properly but I see that there is a kind of redirect after I post the picture .   Hi friends, I have got little tricky issue i.e I am using API of a product which has few methods for uploading image. The UI part of the product has one file upload control which takes files and convert that into binary and save it to database. In the coding part they are using one method where they send this fileupload.postedfile as one of the input parameter to the method. Now my requirement is, I have a directory where there are hundred of files which i have to send each file one by after another to this method as a input. Now i wish to know how to pass a file name as "HttpPostedFile" to that method as a parameter. I have no other option other than using that API (our clients requirement). Thanks

• How to change the datasource on a YUI datagrid after creation

  I am using the Yahoo DataTable for which the API is here. I am having difficulty changing the data once I have rendered the grid once. I am using jQuery to get data via AJAX, or from a client side data island and need to put this back into the grid. There is no setDataSource method in the DataTable API, and changing 'dataSource.liveData' does not update the grid. // does not work dataTable.dataSource.liveData = [ {name:"cat"}, {name:"dog"}, {name:"mouse"}; The example I am basing my code on is the basic LocalDataSource example. How can I update the data source without having to completely recreate the table. I do NOT want to use the YUI datasources that make Async calls. I need to know how I can do this 'manually'.

  Hi, I create an add-on for the product Foo. There are different versions of Foo, namely version 1, 2, 3 and 4. These versions have a mostly compatible API, but not fully. I currently have 5 projects: DotNetCommon - here are the common methods which could be used if I create an add-on or something other than the Foo product. FooOne FooTwo FooThree FooFour The Foo*-projects contains the add-in for version 1-4 of Foo. There are a lot of duplicated files in the Foo*-projects, as there are a lot of things in the API which are identical for all versions of Foo. It would be nice to separate out everything which is common for all Foo-versions. Why not just create a common assembly for all versions of Foo called FooCommon? If I would put all classes which are common for all versions of Foo into a new library project, I would still have to choose which version of Foo the new FooCommon should reference. As said, they are not identical.

  In Java, you can load all kinds of resources using the same API but with different URL protocols: file:///tmp.txt http://127.0.0.1:8080/a.properties jar:http://www.foo.com/bar/baz.jar!/COM/foo/Quux.class This nicely decouples the actual loading of the resource from the application that needs the resource, and since a URL is just a String, resource loading is also very easily configurable. Is there a protocol to load resources using the current classloader? This is similar to the Jar protocol, except that I do not need to know which jar file or class folder the resource is coming from. I can do that using Class.getResourceAsStream("a.xml"), of course, but that would require me to use a different API, and hence changes to existing code. I want to be able to use this in all places where I can specify a URL for the resource already, by just updating a property file.

• Setting freemarker template from classpath

  I have a web application that I need to manually obtain a Freemarker template - the template is obtained via a class in a library project, but the actual tpl file is contained in the web application classpath. So, there are 2 projects, one 'taac-backend-api' and another 'taac-web'; taac-backend-api has the code to grab the template, and process it, but taac-web is where the template is stores (specifically in: WEB-INF/classes/email/vendor.tpl) - I have tried everything from using springs classpath resource to using Freemarkers setClassForTemplateLoading method. I assume this would work: freemarkerConfiguration = new Configuration(); freemarkerConfiguration.setClassForTemplateLoading(this.getClass(), ""); Template freemarkerTemplate = freemarkerConfiguration.getTemplate("/email/vendor.tpl"); yet, I always get a FileNotFoundException. Can someone explain the best way to obtain a template from the classpath? Thanks.

  Hi, I'm new at this (java and opengl) so please bear with me if the answer to the question is simple. :) I'm trying to get a camera preview screen with the ability to display 3d objects simultaneously. Having gone through the samples at the api demos, I thought combining the code for the the examples at the api demo would suffice. But somehow its not working. The forces me to shut down upon startup and the error is mentioned as null pointer exception. Could someone share with me where did I go wrong and how to proceed from there. • Getting Started with UDK

  I've been trying for a couple of days now to learn UDK, but I seem to be stuck at making that leap to understanding how everything works together. I understand the syntax, that's all well and good, and I pretty much get how classes and .ini files interact. As for the API, I have the entire reference as pretty decent Doxygen-style HTML output. What I'm looking for is a sort of intermediate tutorial on game creation from scratch (as opposed to modding UT3 itself), more advanced than just learning language syntax, but not yet to the level of going through the API step by step. I'm looking for some guide to the structure of the internals - how GameInfo and PlayerController interact, where Pawn comes in, etc. - a way to visualize the big picture. Does anyone have a particular favorite intermediate-level tutorials (or set of tutorials) that they used when first learning UDK?
