  • Consequences of an infinite loop on Google App Engine?

    I am not a Google App Engine user. However, I understand you're billed for CPU time and other resources. What are the consequences if you happen to create an infinite loop? Will Google ever terminate it, or will you have to do it yourself manually somehow? I'm a hobbyist developer worried about a small error that might end up costing hundreds.

    We have a product that has been installed with multiple UpgradeCodes in the past. There's a big red box in the documentation saying not to do that, but the developer somehow overlooked it. I'd like to move this installer to a Setup Project. How can I install over all of the previous UpgradeCodes installed by the various WIX installers?

    Hi there. I'm trying to build a simple cluster based on Windows XP. I compiled OpenMPI-1.4.2 successfully, and tools like mpicc and ompi_info work too, but I can't get my mpirun working properly. The only output I can see is Z:\orterun --hostfile z:\hosts.txt -np 2 hostname [host0:04728] Failed to initialize COM library. Error code = -2147417850 [host0:04728] [[8946,0],0] ORTE_ERROR_LOG: Error in file ..\..\openmpi-1.4.2 \orte\mca\ess\hnp\ess_hnp_module.c at line 218 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It looks like orte_init failed for some reason; your parallel process is likely to abort. There are many reasons that a parallel process can fail during orte_init; some of which are due to configuration or environment problems. Can anyone help me? Upd2: Error code -2147024891 might be WMI error WBEM_E_INVALID_PARAMETER (0x80041008) which occures when one of the parameters passed to the WMI call is not correct. Does this mean that the problem is in OpenMPI source code itself? Or maybe it's because of wrong/outdated wincred.h and credui.lib I used while building OpenMPI from the source code?

  • How do i run the Android command line tools?

    I'm still pretty new to Android and programming in general, and I can't seem to get the command line tools packaged with the Android SDK to work. I'm running Mac OSX and each time I try to run layoutopt, for example, the terminal returns, *-bash: cmd: command not found * Also, is it okay to have my SDK located in the Developer directory and my android project in some unrelated directory when using these tools?

  • I can't get my Android program to run correctly on an AVM in Eclipse

I have followed all the tutorials on the developer site for installing Eclipse, the SDK and the ADT plugin. When trying to run a simple Hello World program, everything seems to compile correctly, but then the virtual machine comes up empty. In the Console Window it reads: The program then just sits and my text never comes up. Any idea with what the problem could be?

  • How can I connect to SQL Server using (local)\INSTANCE_NAME?

    I have a developer that is having trouble connecting to a SQL Server instance by entering the server name (local)\HIS_SERVER_INSTANCE into Visual Studio-Server Explorer. If he replaces (local) with his machine name, it connects fine. I have had similar issues before but they seemed to fix themselves. Does anyone know a fix for this?

However, I have been thinking that I'd like to make a version of my library available for Windows desktop developers as well. Once I have finished the same, I'd like to distribute and promote it to get feedback, bug reports, and suggestions. Are there good developer forums for promoting and distributing applications or libraries in this way?

    I am building a small web app for a pharmacy to keep track of sales and stocks, so in short, in one page, the pharmacist will enter a bar-code and the item is displayed, pharmacist enters quantity (price will be automatically calculated) then next item and next and so on, I haven't worked with such a problem before so I would appreciate any advices/tips on how to do it, what to use and wither its already done in some tidy neat way I can just import into my page.   • Oracle: Is there a way to get the column data types for a view?

    For a table in oracle, I can query "all_tab_columns" and get table column information, like the data type, precision, whether or not the column is nullable. In SQL Developer or TOAD, you can click on a view in the GUI and it will spit out a list of the columns that the view returns and the same set of data (data type, precision, nullable, etc). So my question is, is there a way to query this column definition for a view, the way you can for a table? How do the GUI tools do it?
