  • User not able to change permissions on folder in network share for Windows Server 2003

    I have a user that has rights to change permissions within a certain folder on a Windows Server 2003 network share. Although I grant this person the rights to change permission and ownership this person cannot change any permissions. The network share is also set to allow everyone full control. (I understand it is bad practice yet this is how it was first configured) Is there any reason why this domain user cannot modify permissions on the folder and files they create?

  • umbraco front end site stopped working suddenly

    Hi All, I created one webapplication and placed the default.aspx page in the root folder of the umbraco (i.e., httpdocs folder) and the application dll into the bin folder. I used the name “Default.aspx” as the other names are not working. Now the issue is all the pages are redirecting to the default.aspx page (I haven’t made any config changes anywhere in the umbraco setup) I found this root cause and removed the default.aspx page and its respective dll from the bin folder. The resource cannot be found. Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. The xml files are some data received from a client, so i can't control the way they are sending it to me. L.E. Basically when i am trying to test this data in excel (for example i want to make sure that the attribute of childOfChild7 corresponds to the correct identity id) i am getting a lot of blank spaces. If i am importing in access to get only the data i want out, i have to do a thousands subqueries to get them all in a nice table. Basically i just want to see for one Object all its data (one object - One row) and then just delete/hide the columns i don't need.

  • How to not check in Eclipse specific project files?

    I don't want to force people into using a specific IDE for development, so our projects look basically like this: SomeProject src lib build.xml No IDE specific files whatsoever. However, many people prefer Eclipse and it is their valid complain that it is annoyingly difficult to set up an Eclipse project from an Ant build file if that project is checked into a VCS. That's a very old bug, so I don't really expect it to be fixed soon. I don't want all those weird Eclipse project files in the project root, but if it was the only way, I would accept having the eclipse project files in a subdirectory "eclipse". I thought Eclipse's linked resources were capable of just that, but I was wrong, it doesn't really work. How do you solve this problem? Are you checking in the .settings directory. etc. into your project's root?

    I have permission to attached a mailbox to my profile. This is a mailbox I share and manage with other people. When we send from this address, we would like to have the message show up in this mailbox's sent items folder. The current behavior is that the message goes to our primary account's sent items. I'm using Outlook 2007 but others are using Outlook 2003. This is in an Exchange 2007 environment.

    I want to do: echo "something" >> /etc/config_file But, since only the root user has write permission to this file, I can't do that. But this: sudo echo "something" >> /etc/config_file also doesn't work. Is there any way to append to a file in that situation without having to first open it with a sudo'd editor and then appending the new content by hand?

  • Why are my Opteron cores running at only 75% capacity each? (25% CPU idle)

    We've just taken delivery of a powerful 32-core AMD Opteron server with 128Gb. We have 2 x 6272 CPU's with 16 cores each. We are running a big long-running java task on 30 threads. We have the NUMA optimisations for Linux and java turned on. Our Java threads are mainly using objects that are private to that thread, sometimes reading memory that other threads will be reading, and very very occasionally writing or locking shared objects. We can't explain why the CPU cores are 25% idle. I had trouble finding a clear explanation of what 'top' means by "idle" versus "wait", but I get the impression that "idle" means "no more threads that need to be run" but this doesn't make sense in our case. We're using a "Executors.newFixedThreadPool(30)". There are a large number of tasks pending and each task lasts for 10 seconds or so. I suspect that the explanation requires a good understanding of NUMA. Is the "idle" state what you see when a CPU is waiting for a non-local access? If not, then what is the explanation?

    I'm mounting a windows share as follows: sudo mount -t cifs //192.168.178.49/public -o users,username=name,dom=domain,password=pword /mnt/nas Then I'm trying to create a simple file with some basic text: touch /mnt/nas/me.txt And get an error, however, the file is created (contains 0B of data though): touch: cannot touch ‘me.txt’: Permission denied With sudo it works flawless. How can I allow my current user to write data to the share? Is there a mount option?

    I've installed a CMS on a shared host running Apache, now when I was deleting the root directory with FTP, some folders left with a "Permission denied" error and I can't change their attributes. the best explanation I've got is that the CMS installer has placed the files and has assigned its ownership to the Apache server instead of my user name. (i don't know it can be done) Ijust haven't use the uninstaller because I've lost my admin password - -" so how to delete those folders ?

    I need to point the root domain of my hosting account to a subdirectory (joomla). I want this to be invisible (i.e. browser address bar doesn't change). Also, I need this to work when a user hits the root or a subfile/subfolder. I've tried the following rules, which work individually, but I can't get them to work together. This one works when no subfile/subfolder is specified: RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^$ /joomla/ [L] And this one works when a subfile/subfolder IS specified: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule (.+)$ /joomla/$1 [L] I just can't figure out how to combine them.

    My exim4 don't send any message. The logs says 2011-03-09 15:59:57 1PxKrl-00038i-BT malware acl condition: clamd: ClamAV returned /var/spool/exim4/scan/1PxKrl-00038i-BT: lstat() failed: Permission denied. ERROR I supose that clamav (running clamd) does'nt have access rights on the mentioned file, but clamav is in the same group as Debian-exim (running exim4). Even changing the folder permissions to a+rwx has no effect. Any idea where to look for failure reason ?

  • Deploy CakePHP to a subfolder

    I have created a CakePHP 2 app, and now I'm trying to deploy it to a production web server. My app uses the default folder structure (app/lib/plugins/vendors), default htaccess, default routing, nothing special. I've been developing locally as if the app were in the root folder of the site (e.g. http://mycakeapp.localhost/ takes me to the site). But I'm deploying to a site (shared hosting) where that will not be the case (e.g. http://www.somedomain.com/mycakeapp). It doesn't work (I didn't really expect it to), so I assumed I had to tweak one or more htaccess files. I tried modifying the root .htaccess as suggested in this post, but that only partially worked (the link to the CSS didn't work, for instance): <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ^mycakeapp$ mycakeapp/app/webroot/ [L] RewriteRule ^mycakeapp/(.*)$ mycakeapp/app/webroot/$1 [L] </IfModule> So what should I do to all the htaccess files to make this CakePHP site work in a subfolder?

  • getResourceAsStream not loading resource in webapp

    I have a web application that uses a library which resides in TOMCAT_HOME/common/lib. This library looks for a properties file at the root of the classpath (in a class called ApplicationConfig): ApplicationConfig.class.getResourceAsStream("/hv-application.properties"); My Tomcat web application contains this properties file. It is in WEB-INF/classes, which is the root of the classpath right? However, at runtime, when it tries to load the properties file, it throws an exception because it can't find it (getResourceAsStream returns null). Everything works fine if my application is a simple, standalone Java application. Does Tomcat cause the getResourceAsStream method to act differently? I know there's a lot of similar questions out there, but none of them have helped unfortunately. Thanks.

I am having really hard time with that, I try to give it full rights to some folders (user profiles) but I can't even modify the NTFS permissions in some cases, I get "permission denied" Is there some soft of tutorial or script that will just give the administrator full rights on all folders in the C driver? Suppose I have such chunk of a sentence: (NP (NP (DT A) (JJ single) (NN page)) (PP (IN in) (NP (DT a) (NN wiki) (NN website)))) At a certain moment of time I have a reference to (JJ single) and I want to get the NP node binding A single page. If I get it right, that NP is the parent of the node, A and page are its siblings and it has no children (?). When I try to use the .parent() method of a tree, I always get null. The API says that's because the implementation doesn't know how to determine the parent node. Another method of interest is .ancestor(int height, Tree root), but I don't know how to get the root of the node. In both cases, since the parser knows how to indent and group trees, it must know the "parent" tree, right? How can I get it? Thanks

  • postfix: maildir access problem; did I lose mail?

    I found a few hundred of the following errors in my syslog following some configuration changes: warning: maildir access problem for UID/GID=5000/5000: create maildir file /home/vmail/domain/account1 /tmp/1273028517.P14666.domain.com: Permission denied I made a temporary fix for now (the ole' standby, chmod 777), but I would like to know if this is a permanent error (lost mail) or if these are retried/requeued.   • Powerpoint file can be deleted without consequence

    I am working on a license management type application that copies a password protected zip file to the applications root. The user clicks a button "Open Presentation" and the zipped file is extracted into the root folder and then I use the Office interop to open the file in Powerpoint. At this point to my surprise I am able to delete the extracted file that is currently open in the Powerpoint application. I had assumed that trying to delete the file would fail as the file is still open in Powerpoint. Why is it allowing me to delete the file? Is the file somehow copied to a temp folder and then opened in PowerPoint? Can I move forward with the application relying on this ability to delete the file as soon as it is opened in Powerpoint? This would be optimal because it helps insure that the file cannot be copied(I am also using the xml to stop "Save As" and "Save" from appearing int Powerpoint). Thanks for the insight, John
