    Consider a grocery store scenario (I'm making this up) where you have FACT records that represent a sale transaction, where the columns of the Fact table include SaleItemFact Table ------------------ CustomerID ProductID Price DistributorID DateOfSale Etc Etc Etc Even if there are duplicates in the table when you consider ALL the keys, I would contend that a surrogate running numeric key (i.e. identity column) should be made up, e.g., TransactionNumber of type Integer. I can see someone arguing that a Fact table might not have a unique key (though I'd invent one and waste the 4 bytes, but how about a dimension table?

Apart from my quick'n'dirty programming skills, I believe, that there are also some performance boosts, I haven't used.     I am working on an application which has got some sensitive information. I am aware that it would be difficult for a layman to hack into iphone to get the information. If I use SQLite directly I have something called SQLite Cipher to encrypt / encode the database. Is there anyway where I can have the same way of encrypting the coredata so it makes it hard for hackers to get into the data. Can someone shed some light on this? Thanks in Advance

    I have a Location that can have Events. I want to have an upcoming_events method but want it to round down such that if someone looks at 10pm at night, it will show todays events. I have this: def upcoming_events d=Time.new d.strftime("%m-%d-%Y") l=Event.where('location_id=? and start_datetime>?',self.id, d) end I gets converted down correctly but in d.strftime but the query is: SELECT `events`.* FROM `events` WHERE (location_id=301 and start_datetime>'2012-06-20 02:49:23') Any idea how to just get it to do '2012-06-20'?

So that makes me start writing a code that is test-able and to start using some unit testing framework. With this though I start looking for some example with piece of code that is not testable and gradually converted to a testable code.
