  • Can a cur file have an alpha map (for high quality transparency)?

    - by Codemonkey
I want to convert this Heroes of Newerth cursor into a cur file so I can use it as a cursor on windows and on my website. The cursor is now in a PNG file with an alpha map, and I have so far been unsuccessful in converting it to a cur file. The things I've tried is using the Photoshop cursor plugin to simply save the png as a cur. The result was a working cur file with a white background instead of a transparent one. I've also tried painting the background pure green (0, 255, 0) and saving as a cur file, in which case the background was still green when I tried using it as a windows cursor. I've also tried what's been mentioned in a few tutorials, which is selecting the area I want transparent and saving the selection in Photoshop (it then ends up as a new channel). So I selected the cursor and inverted the selection and saved it. The result was a bit odd. Instead of a transparent background, I now get a background that inverts the colours behind it, just like the "Windows inverted" mouse scheme. So is there any way to accomplish what I'm trying to do?

  • openvpn: after changing to server mode, client does not create TUN device

    - by lurscher
i had a previously working configuration with the config files used in a previous question However, i've changed this now to the following configuration using server mode, everything on the logs seem fine, however the client doesn't create any tun interface, so i don't have anything to connect to, presumably, i need to add or push some route commands, but i don't have any idea at this point what i need to do. I am posting all my relevant configuration files server.conf: dev tun server 10.8.117.0 255.255.255.0 ifconfig-pool-persist ipp.txt tls-server dh /home/lurscher/keys/dh1024.pem ca /home/lurscher/keys/ca.crt cert /home/lurscher/keys/vpnCh8TestServer.crt key /home/lurscher/keys/vpnCh8TestServer.key status openvpn-status.log log openvpn.log comp-lzo verb 3 and client.conf: dev tun remote my.server.com tls-client ca /home/chuckq/keys/ca.crt cert /home/chuckq/keys/vpnCh8TestClient.crt key /home/chuckq/keys/vpnCh8TestClient.key ns-cert-type server ; port 1194 ; user nobody ; group nogroup status openvpn-status.log log openvpn.log comp-lzo verb 3 the server ifconfig shows a tun device: tun0 Link encap:UNSPEC HWaddr 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00 inet addr:10.8.117.1 P-t-P:10.8.117.2 Mask:255.255.255.255 UP POINTOPOINT RUNNING NOARP MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:100 RX bytes:0 (0.0 B) TX bytes:0 (0.0 B) However the client ifconfig does not show any tun interface! $ ifconfig tun0 tun0 Link encap:UNSPEC HWaddr 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00 POINTOPOINT NOARP MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:100 RX bytes:0 (0.0 B) TX bytes:0 (0.0 B) the client log says: Tue May 17 23:27:09 2011 OpenVPN 2.1.0 i686-pc-linux-gnu [SSL] [LZO2] [EPOLL] [PKCS11] [MH] [PF_INET6] [eurephia] built on Jul 12 2010 Tue May 17 23:27:09 2011 IMPORTANT: OpenVPN's default port number is now 1194, based on an official port number assignment by IANA. • Authenticating Apache HTTPd against multiple LDAP servers with expired accounts

    - by Brian Bassett
We're using mod_authnz_ldap and mod_authn_alias in Apache 2.2.9 (as shipped in Debian 5.0, 2.2.9-10+lenny7) to authenticate against multiple Active Directory domains for hosting a Subversion repository. Our current configuration is: # Turn up logging LogLevel debug # Define authentication providers <AuthnProviderAlias ldap alpha> AuthLDAPBindDN "CN=Subversion,OU=Service Accounts,O=Alpha" AuthLDAPBindPassword [[REDACTED]] AuthLDAPURL ldap://dc01.alpha:3268/?sAMAccountName?sub? </AuthnProviderAlias> <AuthnProviderAlias ldap beta> AuthLDAPBindDN "CN=LDAPAuth,OU=Service Accounts,O=Beta" AuthLDAPBindPassword [[REDACTED]] AuthLDAPURL ldap://ldap.beta:3268/?sAMAccountName?sub? </AuthnProviderAlias> # Subversion Repository <Location /svn> DAV svn SVNPath /opt/svn/repo AuthName "Subversion" AuthType Basic AuthBasicProvider alpha beta AuthzLDAPAuthoritative off AuthzSVNAccessFile /opt/svn/authz require valid-user </Location> We're encountering issues with users that have accounts in both Alpha and Beta, especially when their accounts in Alpha are expired (but still present; company policy is that the accounts live on for at a minimum of 1 year). For example, when the user x (which has en expired account in Alpha, and a valid account in Beta), the Apache error log reports the following: [Tue May 11 13:42:07 2010] [debug] mod_authnz_ldap.c(377): [client 10.1.1.104] [14817] auth_ldap authenticate: using URL ldap://dc01.alpha:3268/?sAMAccountName?sub? • Possible to change the alpha value of certain pixels on iPhone?

    - by emi1faber
Is it possible to change just a portion of a Sprite's alpha in response to user interaction? A good example of what I mean is iFog or iSteam, where the user can wipe "steam" off the iPhone's screen. Swapping images out wouldn't be feasible due to the sheer number of possibilities where the user could touch and move... For example, say you have a simple app that has a brick wall in the background that has graffiti on it, so there'd be two sprites, one of the brick wall, then one of the graffiti that has a higher z value than the brick wall. Then, based upon where the user touches (assuming their touch controls a sandblaster), some of the graffiti should be removed, but not all of it, which could be accomplished by changing the alpha value on a portion of the graffiti sprite. Is there any way to do this in cocos2d-iphone? Or, do I need to drop down into openGL, and if so, where would be a good place to start my search on how to accomplish this? Ideally, I'd like to accomplish this on a cocos2d-iphone Sprite, but if it's not possible, where's the best place to start looking? Thanks in advance, Ben

  • Masking FLV video in AS3 with PNG alpha channel.

    - by James Roberts
Hey there, I'm trying to mask an FLV with a PNG alpha channel. I'm using BitmapData (from a PNG) but it's not working. Is there anything I'm missing? Cut up code below: var musclesLoader:Loader = new Loader(); var musclesContainer:Sprite = new Sprite(); var musclesImage:Bitmap = new Bitmap(); var musclesBitmapData:BitmapData; var musclesVideo:Video = new Video(752, 451.2); var connection:NetConnection = new NetConnection(); var stream:NetStream; function loadMuscles():void { musclesLoader.load(new URLRequest('img/muscles.png')); musclesLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, musclesComplete); } function musclesComplete():void { musclesBitmapData = new BitmapData(musclesLoader.content.width, musclesLoader.content.height, true, 0x000000); musclesImage.bitmapData = musclesBitmapData; musclesImage.smoothing = true; musclesContainer.addChild(musclesImage); contentContainer.addChild(musclesContainer); } function loadMusclesVideo():void { connection.connect(null); stream = new NetStream(connection); stream.client = this; musclesVideo.mask = musclesBitmapData; stage.addChild(musclesVideo); musclesVideo.attachNetStream(stream); stream.bufferTime = 1; stream.receiveAudio(true); stream.receiveVideo(true); stream.play("vid/muscles.flv"); } Outside this code I have a function that adds the containers to the stage, etc and places the objects in the appropriate spots. It sort of works - the mask applies, but in a square (the size of the boundaries of musclesBitmapData) rather than with the shape of the alpha channel. Is this the right way to go about this?

  • YouTube Copyright

    - by Matt Walker
I am interested in making a trailer channel, but I need to know if I can just take recently released movie trailers and upload the videos to my channel. It might sound like a dumb question, but I am just wondering if I can do this without penalty (i.e YouTube deleting my account) For Ex. Taking the new star trek trailer and uploading it to my channel. Great answers so far, however I want to have a channel based solely on Trailers. How do I go about doing this?

  • New channels for Exadata 11.2.3.1.1

    - by Rene Kundersma
With the release of Exadata 11.2.3.1.0 back in April 2012 Oracle has deprecated the minimal pack for the Exadata Database Servers (compute nodes). From that release the Linux Database Server updates will be done using ULN and YUM. For the 11.2.3.1.0 release the ULN exadata_dbserver_11.2.3.1.0_x86_64_base channel was made available and Exadata operators could subscribe their system to it via linux.oracle.com. With the new 11.2.3.1.1 release two additional channels are added: a 'latest' channel (exadata_dbserver_11.2_x86_64_latest) a 'patch' channel (exadata_dbserver_11.2_x86_64_patch) The patch channel has the new or updated packages updated in 11.2.3.1.1 from the base channel. The latest channel has all the packages from 11.2.3.1.0 base and patch channels combined.  From here there are three possible situations a Database Server can be in before it can be updated to 11.2.3.1.1: Database Server is on Exadata release < 11.2.3.1.0 Database Server is patched to 11.2.3.1.0 Database Server is freshly imaged to 11.2.3.1.0 In order to bring a Database Server to 11.2.3.1.1 for all three cases the same approach for updating can be used (using YUM), but there are some minor differences: For Database Servers on a release < 11.2.3.1.0 the following high-level steps need to be performed: Subscribe to el5_x86_64_addons, ol5_x86_64_latest and  exadata_dbserver_11.2_x86_64_latest Create local repository Point Database Server to the local repository* install the update * during this process a one-time action needs to be done (details in the README) For Database Servers patched to 11.2.3.1.0: Subscribe to patch channel  exadata_dbserver_11.2_x86_64_patch Create local repository Point Database Server to the local repository Update the system For Database Servers freshly imaged to 11.2.3.1.0: Subscribe to patch channel  exadata_dbserver_11.2_x86_64_patch Create local  repository Point Database Server to the local repository Update the system The difference between 'situation 2' (Database Server is patched to 11.2.3.1.0) and 'situation 3' (Database Server is freshly imaged to 11.2.3.1.0) is that in situation 2 the existing Exadata-computenode.repo file needs to be edited while in situation 3 this file is not existing  and needs to be created or copied. Another difference is that you will end up with more OFA packages installed in situation 2. This is because none are removed during the updating process.  The YUM update functionality with the new channels is a great enhancements to the Database Server update procedure. As usual, the updates can be done in a rolling fashion so no database service downtime is required.  For detailed and up-to-date instructions always see the patch README's 1466459.1 patch 13998727 888828.1 Rene Kundersma

  • Commerce, Anyway You Want It

    - by David Dorf
I believe our industry is finally starting to realize the importance of letting consumers determine how, when, and where to interact with retailers.  Over the last few months I've seen several articles discussing the importance of removing the barriers between existing channels. Paula Rosenblum of RSR first brought the term omni-channel to my attention back in September. She stated, "omni-channel retail isn’t the merging of channels – rather, it’s the use of all possible channels (present and future) to enhance the customer experience in a profitable way." I added to her thoughts in this blog posting in which I said, "For retailers to provide an omni-channel experience, there needs to be one logical representation of products, prices, promotions, and customers across all channels. The only thing that varies is the presentation of the content based on the delivery mechanism (e.g. shelf labels, mobile phone, web site, print, etc.) and often these mechanisms can be combined in various ways." More recently Brian Walker of Gartner suggested we stop using the term multi-channel and begin thinking more about consumer touch-points. "It is time for organizations to leave their channel-oriented ways behind, and enter the era of agile commerce--optimizing their people, processes and technology to serve today's empowered, ever-connected customers across this rapidly evolving set of customer touch points." Now Jason Goldberg, better known as RetailGeek, says we should start breaking down the channel silos by re-casting the VP of E-Commerce as the VP of Digital Marketing, and change his/her focus to driving sales across all channels using digital media. This logic is based on the fact that consumers switch between channels, or touch-points as Brian prefers, as part of their larger buying process. Today's smart consumer leverages the Web, mobile, and stores to provide the best shopping experience, so retailers need to make this easier. Regardless of what we call it, the key take-away is that "multi-channel" is not only an antiquated term but also an idea who's time has passed.  Today, retailers must look at e-commerce, m-commerce, f-commerce, catalogs, and traditional store sales collectively and through the consumers' eyes.  The goal is not to drive sales through each channel but rather to just drive sales -- using whatever method the customer prefers.  There really should be just one cart.

  • Canny edge detection - grayscale images always coming up as 3-channel, unusable?

    - by cvcentral
I am working through the book "Learning OpenCV" from the O'Reilly series and am trying to perform a canny edge detection sample. Any grayscale image I choose seems to come up as having 3 channels, and to the best of my knowledge, canny only works with single channel images, so this always fails. I am even using the images provided by OpenCV. Here is my code.. IplImage* doCanny(IplImage* in, double lowThresh, double highThresh, double aperture) { if(in->nChannels != 1) return(0); //canny only handles gray scale images IplImage* out = cvCreateImage(cvSize(in->width, in->height), IPL_DEPTH_8U, 1); cvCanny(in, out, lowThresh, highThresh, aperture); return(out); }; IplImage* img = cvLoadImage("someGrayscaleImage.jpg"); IplImage* out = doCanny(img, 10, 100, 3); Why might this always give me 3-channel images? How can I solve this?

  • Retlang: What is the best way to unsubscribe from a channel?

    - by TrickyFishy
I'm not sure what is the best way to unsubscribe from a channel when using Retlang. When you subscribe by calling ISubscriber<T>::Subscribe(...) you are returned an IUnsubscriber. This interface has no methods. Going up a level, IChannel<T> also does not have any methods. The only thing I can think of is casting an ISubscriber<T> to the concrete Channel<T> and calling its Unsubscribe() method or adding an Unsubscribe() method to ISubscriber<T>. I'm just curious if anyone knows what they had in mind before I modify the code.

  • Why can't I connect to a Cisco wireless access point?

    - by spinlock
I'm running a Lucid Netbook Remix on my Dell Inspiron 600m and I was not able to connect to the wireless network at the Hacker Dojo in Mountain View yesterday. There were plenty of other people on the network - MS, Mac, and Linux boxes - but my laptop would never get an ip address. I can connect to my home network, which is open, and I've never had a problem connecting at the coffee shop, which uses WPA. The Hacker Dojo is running WPA and we checked the password a number of times but got no love. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. The xml looks like: (it's an xml dump of the ISO-3661 codes) <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <countries> <countries name="Afghanistan" alpha-2="AF" alpha-3="AFG" country-code="004" iso_3166-2="ISO 3166-2:AF" region-code="142" sub-region-code="034"/> <countries name="Åland Islands" alpha-2="AX" alpha-3="ALA" country-code="248" iso_3166-2="ISO 3166-2:AX" region-code="150" sub-region-code="154"/> <countries name="Albania" alpha-2="AL" alpha-3="ALB" country-code="008" iso_3166-2="ISO 3166-2:AL" region-code="150" sub-region-code="039"/> <countries name="Algeria" alpha-2="DZ" alpha-3="DZA" country-code="012" iso_3166-2="ISO 3166-2:DZ" region-code="002" sub-region-code="015"/> The command that I'm running is: LOAD XML LOCAL INFILE '/var/www/ISO-3166_SMS_Country_Codes.xml' INTO TABLE `ISO-3661-codes`(`name`,`alpha-2`,`alpha-3`,`country-code`,`region-code`,`sub-region-code`); The error message I get is: ERROR 1148 (42000): The used command is not allowed with this MySQL version The infile that is referenced exists, I've selected a database before running the command and I have appropriate privileges on the database. The column names in the database table exactly match the xml field names.

  • Can you help me understand my SATA/RAID options?

    - by andrz_001
I've a gigabyte GA-M720-US3 motherboard. Recently, I noticed the following during boot: IDE channel 0 Master (none) IDE channel 0 Slave (none) IDE channel 2 Master (my hdd) IDE channel 2 Slave (my dvd drive) IDE channel 3 Master (none) IDE channel 3 Slave (none) Of course, the same information is contained in the BIOS/CMOS. The HDD is connected to the mobo via a SATA(2?) cable at the port(?) labeled SATA2_0. The DVD drive is connected by a similar cable at SATA2_1. Why doesn't the information displayed during the boot and in BIOS reflect how I plugged the cables in? I mean, why "none" for channel 0 when there is something in SATA2_0. (or is that serious naivete on my part!?) Where's Channel 1 master and slave? Since these are SATA cables and not the IDE ribbons from a time ago, why the whole master/slave declaration during boot and in BIOS? Should my BIOS reflect the fact that these are SATA cables? I mean, in BIOS, should the "Onchip SATA mode IDE" be set to RAID or AHCI instead of IDE? Any replies, answers, suggestions, links, tips will be much appreciated. Thank you in advance!

  • Need help limiting a join in Transact-sql

    - by MsLis
I'm somewhat new to SQL and need help with query syntax. My issue involves 2 tables within a larger multi-table join under Transact-SQL (MS SQL Server 2000 Query Analyzer) I have ACCOUNTS and LOGINS, which are joined on 2 fields: Site & Subset. Both tables may have multiple rows for each Site/Subset combination. ACCOUNTS: | LOGINS: SITE SUBSET FIELD FIELD FIELD | SITE SUBSET USERID PASSWD alpha bravo blah blah blah | alpha bravo foo bar alpha charlie blah blah blah | alpha bravo bar foo alpha charlie bleh bleh blue | alpha charlie id ego delta bravo blah blah blah | delta bravo john welcome delta foxtrot blah blah blah | delta bravo jane welcome | delta bravo ken welcome | delta bravo barbara welcome I want to select all rows in ACCOUNTS which have LOGIN entries, but only 1 login per account. DESIRED RESULT: SITE SUBSET FIELD FIELD FIELD USERID PASSWD alpha bravo blah blah blah foo bar alpha charlie blah blah blah id ego alpha charlie bleh bleh blue id ego delta bravo blah blah blah jane welcome I don't really care which row from the login table I get, but the UserID and Password have to correspond. [Don't return invalid combinations like foo/foo or bar/bar] MS Access has a handy FIRST function, which can do this, but I haven't found an equivalent in TSQL. Also, if it makes a difference, other tables are joined to ACCOUNTS, but this is the only use of LOGINS in the structure. Thank you very much for any assistance.

  • wcf configuration for this code

    - by user208081
I have the following code and would like to convert a lot of code into configuration settings for WCF. As you can see, the code is using wshttpbinding. I appreciate any help on this. try { // Provides a unique network address that a client uses to communicate with a service endpoint. EndpointAddress endpointAddress = new EndpointAddress(new Uri(FAXServiceSettings.Default.FAXReceiveServiceURL)); // Specify the protocols, transports, and message encoders used for communication between the client and the service. // WSHttpBinding represents an interoperable binding that supports distributed transactions and secure, reliable sessions. // Spefically, SOAP message security is enabled for secure transmission of the message content. WSHttpBinding clientBinding = new WSHttpBinding(SecurityMode.Message); clientBinding.OpenTimeout = TimeSpan.FromSeconds(FAXServiceSettings.Default.FAXReceiveServiceOpenTimeoutInSeconds); clientBinding.SendTimeout = TimeSpan.FromSeconds(FAXServiceSettings.Default.FAXReceiveServiceOpenTimeoutInSeconds); // Use the ChannelFactory to enable the creation of channels to the binding and endpoint. using (ChannelFactory<IReceiveFAX> channelFactory = new ChannelFactory<IReceiveFAX>(clientBinding, endpointAddress)) { // Creates a channel of a specified type to a specified endpoint address. IReceiveFAX channel = channelFactory.CreateChannel(); if (channel != null) { try { // Submit the FaxSchedule instance for routing. channel.SubmitFAXForRouting(CreateNewFaxScheduleContainerInstance()); // Explicitly close the channel using the IClientChannel interface. CloseChannel((channel as IClientChannel)); } finally { // Explicitly dispose of the channel using IDisposable interface. DisposeOfChannel((channel as IDisposable)); channel = null; } } // This method causes a CommunicationObject to gracefully transition from any state, other than the Closed state, into the Closed state. The Close method allows any // unfinished work to be completed before returning. For example, finish sending any buffered messages. channelFactory.Close(); } } catch { throw; } Pratik

  • Any program to help me check whether an ethernet channel can support full-length VLAN packet?

    - by Jimm Chen
Sometimes, I have to face such a situation that I need to quickly and explicitly know whether a full length VLAN packet can traverse between two RJ45 ports. Yes, I mean 802.1Q ethernet frame with Etype=81 00 (diagram below). What I can do now is: Get two Windows PCs, for each PC, intall Intel Gigabit NIC and Intel specific driver to create a virtual NIC, with VLAN ID=3 assigned. Then connect the two PCs to each of the two RJ45 port. Finally execute ping to generate a full-length ethernet packet. ping -f -l 1472 <dest-IP> This way, I can be sure that the sent packet has the maximum "IP data payload" of 1500 bytes(8 bytes of ICMP header and 1472 bytes of ICMP data). If the ping gets reply, I know that the ethernet channel support full-length VLAN packet. From my experiment, some home switch or broad band routers(e.g. Linksys WRT54G) does not support full-length VLAN packet switching, so only ping -f -l 1468 succeeds. You see, I have to use an expensive Intel NIC to carry on that test, quite inconvenient. You know, for most laptop today, they do not equip an Intel NIC, and, even it is an Intel NIC, Intel VLAN driver, Intel has limitations on the models on which VLAN driver can be installed. So, my question is: Is there a small program that can let me send a full-length VLAN packet without installing a dedicated VLAN driver? Or better, the program has a stock feature that does the very job for my situation. Windows programs preferred, Linux solution welcome. Simpler the program, the better. Thank you.
