  • Problem after upgrading from 11.10 to 12.04

    I had installed Ubuntu 11.04 through CD alongside windows. I got a problem here in upgradation when I upgraded my Ubuntu 11.10 version to 12.04.There were many errors too while installing upgrades.. The package got broken. After restarting the computer,It should appear Ubuntu 12.04,even here It is appearing ubuntu 11.10 with four dots just moving one by one and does not proceeds further,hangs here!! Windows is running fine,I restarted computer many times,plugged out the charger...Nothing is working. How to solve this issue?? I'm not a very frequent user of all this.. Please guide me...

  • touchpad Detected but not working in Ubuntu 14.04 on toshiba satellite p75 a7200

    I have a toshiba satalite that I have just installed Ubuntu 14.04 on and it runs great. But the touchpad does not work. I plugged in a usb mouse and it worked fine but the laptop touchpad wont work. I tried everything I could find under the sun and it is detected and all and says its enabled but does not work. I have pressed fn f7 to enable the mouse and still nothing. Synaptics is installed im pretty sure to because I used synaptics --list or something like that and It worked fine.

  • Mac HDD Is Encrypted

    I have the hard drive from a PowerMac G5, which was my old computer before it died and I upgraded to Ubuntu Studio. The hard drive its self still works well, but on Ubuntu I can't access most of the files. I plugged it into my MacBook Air and changed some of the perms on some of the folders as a test. This worked for a few, but for others, I was getting the same message Cannot access folder. Access denied. I would like to use this as an external HDD (I have a case and everything), but it's kind of pointless if I can't access the folders that I want. After looking around for a couple of hours, I couldn't find anything that actually gave me an answer. I would like to know if: Anybody else has come upon this problem, If so, have you found a solution? and, What is it?

    Is it possible to read from a COM port already in use on Windows XP? I would like to see the communication between some software and a device plugged into a serial device. I wrote a small program using C# to monitor the COM, but once it's in use by the other device it will not let you open it again. How can one monitor a COM port already in use?     I was wondering if there was a way I could program and compile .net applications (c#, asp.net mvc) from a usb stick on any laptop I plugged in. I am lookinjg for a solution that does not have me installing programs on the laptop, so I have to be able to run an ide or editor from an exe and compile presumably from command line. Was also wondering if I can run MS test projects from command line to check tests passed etc. Thanks

    Is there a way to detect when a specific device is plugged into a usb port, what I would like to happen is when I plug my laptop into my docking station it run up several apps to account for my different keyboard, mouse and monitors. Specifically I have an issue with some software for my G15 keyboard stopping media player closing properly. Hopefully in .NET but if not any suggestions appreciated.

The requirement is that the components are to be developed by other people and dynamically plugged into this wizard (Jetspeed reboot is okay). I would like to be able to define the components as portlets themselves who's content is rendered into the primary portlet. Has anybody ever done something like this?

    When you unplug an external monitor with a higher resolution that your macbook from your laptop, the windows mostly retain their width, but their size gets clipped to the (smaller) height of the macbook screen. When you plug the monitor back in, their size remains frustratingly small. My question is: is there any way that I can iterate over all open windows, save their size, and restore them once the monitor gets plugged in again?

  • Can Android OS be programmed to interface with a external device via the mini-USB port?

    Basic example, if I bought a chipset with a light socket and bulb soldered to the chipset; then put a USB cable with the mini-USB plug on the end to get plugged into the android phone. Can I write a Java application to turn on/off the light, get the status of the light(on/off) and maybe power a super-small led/bulb with power from the phone itself?   • Are there any programmable barcode scanners that can call a webservice?

    I am looking at integrating a C# application with a barcode scanner. The last time I did this was with Delphi 1 (win 3.11) using a scanner that plugged in-line into the keyboard cable. Looking around it appears most scanners are USB based these days and assume they emulate keyboard entry. Anybody know of more sophisticated/programmable scanner that can call a webservice or even just do a basic POST/GET this would eliminate the C# application and the computer to support it?
