  Hi, I am facing a very strange problem where the same loop keeps giving me different different output on change of value of BUFFER final int BUFFER = 100; char[] charArr = new char[BUFFER]; StringBuffer objStringBuffer = new StringBuffer(); while (objBufferedReader.read(charArr, 0,BUFFER) != -1) { objStringBuffer.append(charArr); } objFileWriter.write(objStringBuffer.toString()); When i change BUFFER size to 500 it gives me a file of 7 kb when i change BUFFER size to 100000 it gives a file of 400 kb where the contents are repeated again and again. Please help. What should i do to prevent this?

  Hi, I have a question: Let's say I have this string var: string strData = "1|2|3|4||a|b|c|d" Then, I make a Split: strNumbers[] = strData.Split("||"); //something like this, I know It's not this simple I need two separate parts, each one containing this: //strNumbers -> {"1","2","3","4"},{"a","b","c","d"} So that after that, I could do this: string[] strNumArray[] = strNumbers[0].Split('|'); //strNumArray -> '1', '2', '3', '4' And same with the other part (letters). Is it possible? to make this double split with the same character, but the first time the character is repeated twice?. Thanks. PD. I'm using C#.

  I have a web app and I need to integrate some JasperReports in this app. So I downloaded iReport and I used the templates. I choose the LeafGreen template, but I have a problem. When I have more than 4 elemets in my list, my headers gets repeated every 4 elements (see the image:) - I don't want this; once is enough.   Look at this piece of code: MessageParser parser = new MessageParser(); for (int i = 0; i < 10000; i++) { parser.parse(plainMessage, user); } For some reason, it runs SLOWER (by about 100ms) than for (int i = 0; i < 10000; i++) { MessageParser parser = new MessageParser(); parser.parse(plainMessage, user); } Any ideas why? The tests were repeated a lot of times, so it wasn't just random. How could creating an object 10000 times be faster than creating it once?

  I'm working on a personal game engine in C# and need to give certain characters / sprites responses to conditions or certain patterns that they follow and since these patterns will be repeated over and over for other characters / sprites, I don't want to tie the patterns to the character / sprite. I will likely want to define the conditions / actions in level data files... I plan to use this for platformers, space shooters, and pack man like games... Almost an extenable AI system.   I have an associative array as follows: $myarray = array('a'=>array(), 'b'=>array(), 'c'=>array(), 'd'=>array()); I want to be able to get all pairs of elements in the array. If it wasn't an associative array, I would use nested for loops, like: for($i=0; $i<count($myarray); $i++) { for($j=$i+1; $j<count($myarray); $j++) { do_something($myarray[$i], $myarray[$j]); } } I have looked at using foreach loops, but as the inner loop goes through ALL elements, some pairs are repeated. Is there a way to do this? Thanks!

  Hi all, When I was doing some JQuery and PHP, I noticed the If-else patterns were treated differently and varied from one language to another. Say I got a simple input text field in a HTML and I was using some Ifs and Elses to check the value input into the text field. Text: <input type="text" name="testing"/> In JQuery, I got some codes as follows: if($("#testing").val()==1){ //do something } if($("#testing").val()=="add"){ //do something } else{ //do something } if($("#testing").val()=="hello"){ //do something } How come JQuery and PHP treated the Else statement differently? I mean in JQuery, the third If statement was still proceeded even if it had gone to the Else statement, but it stopped after the Else statement when I repeated the code in PHP script.

I was thinking of a function like this: $pattern = '('.strtr($blacklist, ",", "|").')'; // should return (some|words|etc) foreach ($items as $item) { if ( !preg_match($pattern,$item['id']) || !preg_match($pattern,$item['title']) || !preg_match($pattern,$item['author']) ) { // show item } } and I wonder if this is the most efficient way to filter the arrays or I should use something with strpos() or filter_var with FILTER_VALIDATE_REGEXP ... Note that this function is repeated per 3 arrays. However, each array will not contain more than 50 items.

  Hello, normally, all sane developers are trying to secure input of all public methods (casting to proper types, validating, sanitizing etc.) My question is: are you in your code validating also parameters passed to protected / private methods? In my opinion it is not necessary, if you securize properly parameters of public methods and return values from outside (other classes, db, user input etc...). But I am constantly facing frameworks and apps (ie. prestashop to name one) where validation is often repeated in method call, in method body and once again for securize returned value - which, I think, is creating performace overhead and is also a sign of bad design.

  is it good practice to use iframe to implement header/navbar? my website is basically 5 thousand pages but all static html (not using any content manager, php, etc.). am in the process to add a navbar at the top of each page. e.g. tabs, or crumbs, or any sort of header with js menu. (the exact design not decided yet) my question is, is it good practice to use a iframe for this? (so, instead have same text repeated in all 5 thousand pages, each will just have a short iframe pointing to a header file) am aware that one should reduce http request for speed, but this is ok with me. Any other problems i might have with this? SEO or any tech issue?

  Hi, I have a drop down list inside an update panel that is populated on postback from a sql data source. It has a parameter which is another control. I sometimes need multiple postbacks, but what happens is that each time the update panel refreshes, items are added to the dropdownlist. So the dropdown list ends up having data that is incorrect, or repeated data. I have the AppendDataboundItems property set to true because I need the first item to be blank. How can I overcome this problem? Is there another way to have a blank first item? (This dropdown is in an asp.net2.0 web app, and codebehind is in c#) Thank you.

• Cell contents changing after I select rows present outside its height?

  I have set the size of the tableView that I show as the popoverController as 4*rowheight. And I am using 12cells in the tableView. Each cell contains an image and a label. I can see all the cells by scrolling. Upto 5th cell its ok. After th2 5th cell, the label and the image that I am using in the first four cells are being repeated for the remaining cells. And If I select the cell, the result is accurately shown. But when I again take the tableView, the image and labels are not accurate even for the first 5 cells. All are changed but the selection is giving the correct result. Did anyone got the idea what the problem is??

  I just started playing with Clojure, and I wrote a small script to help me understand some of the functions. It begins like this: (def *exprs-to-test* [ "(filter #(< % 3) '(1 2 3 4 3 2 1))" "(remove #(< % 3) '(1 2 3 4 3 2 1))" "(distinct '(1 2 3 4 3 2 1))" ]) Then it goes through *exprs-to-test*, evaluates them all, and prints the output like this: (doseq [exstr *exprs-to-test*] (do (println "===" (first (read-string exstr)) "=========================") (println "Code: " exstr) (println "Eval: " (eval (read-string exstr))) ) ) The above code is all working fine. However, (read-string exstr) is repeated so I tried to use let to eliminate the repetition like so: (doseq [exstr *exprs-to-test*] (let [ex (read-string exstr)] ( (do (println "===" (first ex) "=========================") (println "Code: " exstr) (println "Eval: " (eval ex)) ) )) ) But this works once for the first item in *exprs-to-test*, then crashes with a NullPointerException. Why is the addition of let causing the crash?

In the jQuery API page for the .animate() function, the user "fbogner" says: Just if anyone is interested: Animations are "rendered" using a setInterval with a time out of 13ms. This is quite fast! Chrome's fastest possible interval is about 10ms. All other browsers "sample" at about 20-30ms. Any idea how jQuery determined to use this specific number?

  Hi, I have something like below which will get repeated many times based on the function that get called for e.g acceptfunction() { inserter["quantity"] = sdd.getfloat(quantity); inserter["prodtype"] = sdd.getstring(prodtype); : : so on } Like accept above there are 20 more functions(reject,cancel etc) which will do the similar thing.But the parameteres they insert can differ based on function called. How can I automate this kind of code.So that I dont need to write new function from scratch.Basically what I need is if i provide parametres like ("quantity",prodtype) through some text file or xml, it should generate the required function with the input parametres. Is this task can be handled through C++ tempalte Meta programming or someother code generation tool will help me to do this?

  I've been asked to resolve an issue with a .Net/SqlServerCe application. Specifically, after repeated inserts against the db, performance becomes increasingly degraded. In one instance at ~200 rows, in another at ~1000 rows. I already have a SQL query retrieving all data, with JOINs on my 7 tables. But...when I try to put data in XML format, I reach a limit. My PHP loop can catch each row, but I would like to benefit from hierachical structure of the XML, and all I have are rows with the same data repeated. Now, if I run the same test alone from reSharper the output is fine and does not repeat. However, if I run this test along side 2 other tests in the same class, the output is repeated three times. I am totally confused. What the hell is going on here?

• How can I figure out where all these extra sqlite3 selects are being generated in my rails app?

  I'm trying to figure out where a whole pile of extra queries are being generated by my rails app. I need some ideas on how to tackle it. Or, if someone can give me some hints, I'd be grateful. I get these: SQL (1.0ms) SELECT name FROM sqlite_master WHERE type = 'table' AND NOT name = 'sqlite_sequence' SQL (0.8ms) SELECT name FROM sqlite_master WHERE type = 'table' AND NOT name = 'sqlite_sequence' SQL (0.8ms) SELECT name FROM sqlite_master WHERE type = 'table' AND NOT name = 'sqlite_sequence' repeated over and over on every request to the DB (as much as 70 times for a single request) I tried installing a plugin that traced the source of the queries, but it really didn't help at all. I'm using the hobofields gem, dunno if that is what's doing it but I'm somewhat wedded to it at the moment Any tips on hunting down the source of these extra queries?
