  • Guests can't access KVM host server by name although nslookup and dig returns correct record

    - by user190196
So I have a KVM host that also runs an apache server with some yum repos. The VM guests are connected to the default virtual network, which is configured to offer DHCP and forwarding with NAT on virbr0 (192.168.12.1). The guests can successfully access the yum repos on the host by IP address, so for example curl 192.168.122.1/repo1 returns the content without problems. But I'd like to have the guests be able to reach the web server on the host by name rather IP address. I added the desired name record to the host's /etc/hosts file and libvirt's dnsmasq service seems to be serving that correctly to the guests since nslookup and dig successfully resolve the name on the guests: [root@localhost ~]# nslookup repo Server: 192.168.122.1 Address: 192.168.122.1#53 Name: repo Address: 192.168.122.1 [root@localhost ~]# dig repo ; <<>> DiG 9.8.2rc1-RedHat-9.8.2-0.17.rc1.el6 <<>> repo ;; global options: +cmd ;; Got answer: ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 55938 ;; flags: qr aa rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 1, AUTHORITY: 0, ADDITIONAL: 0 ;; QUESTION SECTION: ;repo. Also tried changing guests' /etc/nsswitch.conf with both: hosts: files dns and hosts: dns files I've read the relevant libvirt documentation and I'm not sure where else to learn more about this and be able to move forward with it.

  • Siteminder webagent installation failed

    - by Sreekanth
Hi All, I have tried to install a 32 bit Netegrity(CA) siteminder web agent on 64 bit Windows server 2003. The IIS server is V 6.0 and so it is also 64 bit. But the problem is while configuring the agent it is showing metabase error. Previously 64 bit web agent was installed on the same server and removed. The IIS V 6.0 is also reinstalled on the server. But after that when I tried to install 32 bit siteminder web agent, it is showing an error as said above. Is it possible to install a 32 bit siteminder web agent on 64 bit IIS? Please help me as soon as possible. Thanks in advance.

  • iSCSI targets don't appear after rescan

    - by asmr
Hi everybody, I have an Equallogic 4000PS SAN box to which I have connected 2 x ESX 4.0.0 hosts sharing the LUNs. I have an older ESX 3.5 host which I want to setup to share the same LUNs. I have setup a vmkernel port with 2 NICs attached to 2 the iSCSI switch. When I perform an iSCSI software adapter rescan, it takes a long time and it doesn't find the targets. In the ESX-3.5 host's log file I find these messages: Mar 30 08:52:48 sc59 vmkernel: 368:19:23:11.394 cpu5:1039)WARNING: SCSI: 279: SCSI device type 0xd is not supported. • KVM/Libvirt bridged/routed networking not working on newer guest kernels

    - by SharkWipf
    I have a dedicated server running Debian 6, with Libvirt (0.9.11.3) and Qemu-KVM (qemu-kvm-1.0+dfsg-11, Debian). I am having a problem getting bridged/routed networking to work in KVM guests with newer kernels (2.6.38). NATted networking works fine though. Older kernels work perfectly fine as well. The host kernel is at version 3.2.0-2-amd64, the problem was also there on an older host kernel. The contents of the host's /etc/network/interfaces (ip removed): # Loopback device: auto lo iface lo inet loopback # bridge auto br0 iface br0 inet static address 176.9.xx.xx broadcast 176.9.xx.xx netmask 255.255.255.224 gateway 176.9.xx.xx pointopoint 176.9.xx.xx bridge_ports eth0 bridge_stp off bridge_maxwait 0 bridge_fd 0 up route add -host 176.9.xx.xx dev br0 # VM IP post-up mii-tool -F 100baseTx-FD br0 # default route to access subnet up route add -net 176.9.xx.xx netmask 255.255.255.224 gw 176.9.xx.xx br0 The output of ifconfig -a on the host: br0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 54:04:a6:8a:66:13 inet addr:176.9.xx.xx Bcast:176.9.xx.xx Mask:255.255.255.224 inet6 addr: fe80::5604:a6ff:fe8a:6613/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:20216729 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:19962220 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:14144528601 (13.1 GiB) TX bytes:7990702656 (7.4 GiB) eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 54:04:a6:8a:66:13 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:26991788 errors:0 dropped:12066 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:19737261 errors:270082 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:270082 collisions:1686317 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:15459970915 (14.3 GiB) TX bytes:6661808415 (6.2 GiB) Interrupt:17 Memory:fe500000-fe520000 lo Link encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1 RX packets:6240133 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:6240133 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:6081956230 (5.6 GiB) TX bytes:6081956230 (5.6 GiB) virbr0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 52:54:00:79:e4:5a inet addr:192.168.100.1 Bcast:192.168.100.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:225016 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:412958 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:16284276 (15.5 MiB) TX bytes:687827984 (655.9 MiB) virbr0-nic Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 52:54:00:79:e4:5a BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:500 RX bytes:0 (0.0 B) TX bytes:0 (0.0 B) vnet0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr fe:54:00:93:4e:68 inet6 addr: fe80::fc54:ff:fe93:4e68/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:607670 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:5932089 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:500 RX bytes:83574773 (79.7 MiB) TX bytes:1092482370 (1.0 GiB) vnet1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr fe:54:00:ed:6a:43 inet6 addr: fe80::fc54:ff:feed:6a43/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:922132 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:6342375 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:500 RX bytes:251091242 (239.4 MiB) TX bytes:1629079567 (1.5 GiB) vnet2 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr fe:54:00:0d:cb:3d inet6 addr: fe80::fc54:ff:fe0d:cb3d/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:9461 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:665189 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:500 RX bytes:4990275 (4.7 MiB) TX bytes:49229647 (46.9 MiB) vnet3 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr fe:54:cd:83:eb:aa inet6 addr: fe80::fc54:cdff:fe83:ebaa/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:1649 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:12177 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:500 RX bytes:77233 (75.4 KiB) TX bytes:2127934 (2.0 MiB) The guest's /etc/network/interfaces, in this case running Ubuntu 12.04 (ip removed): # This file describes the network interfaces available on your system # and how to activate them. I have encountered this problem with every guest OS I've tried, that being Fedora, Ubuntu (server/desktop) and Debian with an upgraded kernel. I've also tried compiling the guest kernel myself, to no avail. I have no problem with recompiling a kernel, though the host cannot afford any downtime. Any ideas on this problem are very welcome. EDIT: I can ping the host from inside the guest.

  • Install windows XP alongside Windows 8

    - by user01
I have a 64 bit (AMD)CPU but it has 32 bit Windows 8 installed. Could I somehow trickily install another Windows XP 64 bit alongside to that ? I want to do this because I almost never use the Windows 8 apps & majorly use this machine for java development. So I would like to run a lightweight OS implementation. Additionally, With 64 bit version of Windows XP, I would be able to take advantage of my 64 bit CPU. So, how do I do it? (I hope there's some way to do this:)

  • Does VMware_ThinApp_4.0.3_169725.msi contain Trojan.Win32.Vapsup in it? [closed]

    - by Joe
Today I ran a full system scan using Online Armor++. It detected Trojans in the installer. I have had this installer on the computer for many months and I do not remember if I ever installed it on this PC or not. For some reason I unpacked the installer with 7zip though. I was probably going to attempt to make it portable. Anyway so I had the installer in a folder, and another folder next to it with all of the installers files unpacked. The VMwareVS.cab file that was extracted from the installer, also had its files extracted into another folder. This was all done many months ago. OA++ did not detect the installer itself as as Trojan VMwareVS.cab, but it did detect 4 of the files that I had unpacked as Trojans. Here are the details of what the scan detected on my PC today. Note: I uploaded these files to VirusTotal....the Ikarus and A-squared engines(the engines from Online Armor++) are not detecting anything. But some of the other engines are detecting the same Trojan that OA++ detected(Trojan.Win32.Vapsup). Should I be worried about whether this Trojan has spread and infected my machine? Thanks in advance for any help!

  • How to enable Ipv6 on my ubunutu 11.04 virtual machine

    - by liv2hak
I have installed 3 VM's on my PC.(Ubuntu 11.04).I want to setup an IPV6 network to review and test some of the IPV6 tools like NDPMonitor.(monitors ICMP messages of Neighbour Discovery Protocol.) IP v6 addresses are as follows. linux_router - fe80::a00:27ff:fed5:f7e9/64 labhack1 - fe80::a00:27ff:fed2:8bd1/64 labhack2 - fe80::a00:27ff:fed7:2f2d/64 The below commands have been run on both linux_router and labhack1. sudo ip r a 2001:468:181:f100::/64 dev eth0 sudo vim /etc/radvd.conf /file looks like below./ interface eth0 { AdvSendAdvert on; /*means that we are sending out advertisments.*/ MinRtrAdvInterval 5; /*these options control how often advertisments are sent*/ MaxRtrAdvInterval 15; /*these are not mandatory but valueable settings.*/ prefix fe80::a00:27ff::/64 { AdvOnLink on; /*Says to the host everyone sharing this prefix is on the sam local link as you.*/ AdvAutonomous on; /*Says to a host: "Use this prefix to autoconfigure your address"*/ }; }; sudo sysctl -w net.ipv6.conf.all.forwarding=1 I try to do a ping6 -I eth0 fe80::a00:27ff:fed5:f7e9 I get Destination unreachable: Address unreachable.I am not sure what I am doing wrong here.I am a beginner at linux administration.Basically I think I am missing whatever is analogous to physically connecting VM's.Any help that would point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

  • Linux Live CD cannot play video

    - by lamwaiman1988
I want to switch from windows to linux, but before the switch I would like to try them out in the Live CD. I downloaded the iso and created a multiboot usb stick ( by YUMI Multiboot USB Creator ). I can boot into Ubuntu Desktop 12.04 64 bit LTS and Linux Mint 13 Mate 64 bit. I can access the hard drive from there and I tried some video with the default player comes with them ( e.g: GNOME Player and VLC Player ). The player opened but the video didn't play. However, I can play the same video in Puppy Linux. ( Puppy Linux doesn't has a choice over 32-bit or 64-bit ) Maybe my CPU didn't support 64 bit? Here is a snap from CPUZ: CPU: AMD Phenom II X3 710

  • Automatically generated /etc/hosts is wrong

    - by Niels Basjes
I've created a kickstart script to install CentOS 5.5 (32bit) in a fully automated way. The DNS/DHCP setup correctly gives the system the right hostname in both the forward and reverse lookups. dig node4.mydomain.com. +short 10.10.10.64 dig -x 10.10.10.64 +short node4.mydomain.com. In the state the installed system is right after the installation completed is as follows: cat /etc/sysconfig/network NETWORKING=yes NETWORKING_IPV6=yes GATEWAY=10.10.10.1 HOSTNAME=node4.mydomain.com echo ${HOSTNAME} node4.mydomain.com cat /etc/hosts # Do not remove the following line, or various programs # that require network functionality will fail. 127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost ::1 localhost6.localdomain6 localhost6 10.10.10.64 node4 My problem is that this automatically generated hosts file is slightly different from the way I want it (or better: the way Hadoop wants it). The last line should look like this: 10.10.10.64 node4.mydomain.com node4 What do I modify where to fix this? Thanks.

  • Solaris 10: cannot ping to/from server

All, I have a Solaris 10 server which is not reachable by IP (ie can't ping to/from the server). I believe I have the default route setup correctly. • How to force Debian to boot new Kernel?

    - by ThE_-_BliZZarD
I'm running Debian 6, Debian GNU/Linux, with Linux 2.6.32-5-amd64 under Grub2 ( 1.98+20100804-14+squeeze1) on a remote system (no possibility to view the pre-boot messages). I compiled and installed a new kernel, but I can not get it to boot. What I have done: Installed the packages via: dpkg -i linux-headers-3.5.3.20120914-amd64_3.5.3.20120914-amd64-10.00.Custom_amd64.deb linux-image-3.5.3.20120914-amd64_3.5.3.20120914-amd64-10.00.Custom_amd64.deb This updated the Grub configuration. My /boot/grub/grub.cfg now contains: menuentry 'Debian GNU/Linux, with Linux 3.5.3.20120914-amd64' --class debian --class gnu-linux --class gnu --class os { insmod raid insmod mdraid insmod part_msdos insmod part_msdos insmod ext2 set root='(md0)' search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 5a3882a9-c7df-4f6a-9feb-f03e3e37be01 echo 'Loading Linux 3.5.3.20120914-amd64 ...' linux /vmlinuz-3.5.3.20120914-amd64 root=UUID=003242b5-121b-49f3-b32f-1b40aea56eed ro acpi=ht quiet panic=10 echo 'Loading initial ramdisk ...' initrd /initrd.img-3.5.3.20120914-amd64 } menuentry 'Debian GNU/Linux, with Linux 2.6.32-5-amd64' --class debian --class gnu-linux --class gnu --class os { insmod raid insmod mdraid insmod part_msdos insmod part_msdos insmod ext2 set root='(md0)' search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 5a3882a9-c7df-4f6a-9feb-f03e3e37be01 echo 'Loading Linux 2.6.32-5-amd64 ...' linux /vmlinuz-2.6.32-5-amd64 root=UUID=003242b5-121b-49f3-b32f-1b40aea56eed ro acpi=ht quiet panic=10 echo 'Loading initial ramdisk ...' initrd /initrd.img-2.6.32-5-amd64 } I used grub-set-default "Debian GNU/Linux, with Linux 2.6.32-5-amd64" to set the old kernel as default and then grub-reboot "Debian GNU/Linux, with Linux 3.5.3.20120914-amd64" to boot into the new kernel once. After update-grub I rebooted the system, but everytime it comes back up with the old kernel (2.6). I tried setting the new one as default (grub-set-default 0, update-grub, reboot) but, still the old one. The Syslogs contain NO hint whatsoever about trying to boot the new kernel - only the old one. Would there be any hints regarding problems with a kernel? Is there a way to enable debug-logging in grub? What am I doing wrong? How can I force the system to boot the new kernel? complete Looks like the SATA interface tries to use 6Gbps link, then fails miserably and Linux fallbacks to 3Gbps. This is somewhat fine for me, as the system boots successfully each time and works under high load (cd linux-3.2.8; make -j16). I've also ran memtest86+ and it did not find any errors. What concerns me more is that Grub sometimes takes a long time to load the images and/or fails to load itself completely. The error is consistent and is probablistic: that is, each time I boot I have a certain chance to fail. Actually, I have a slight suspiction on the cause of the failure. Look at the cabling: What kind of engineer does it this way? Nah. Even 1Gbps Ethernet hardly tolerates cables bent over a small angle, and there you have 6Gbps SATA. How cound I determine and fix the cause of errors and/or switch the link to 3Gbps mode permanently?

  • How to stop registration attempts on Asterisk

    - by Travesty3
    The main question: My Asterisk logs are littered with messages like these: [2012-05-29 15:53:49] NOTICE[5578] chan_sip.c: Registration from '<sip:[email protected]>' failed for '37.75.210.177' - No matching peer found [2012-05-29 15:53:50] NOTICE[5578] chan_sip.c: Registration from '<sip:[email protected]>' failed for '37.75.210.177' - No matching peer found [2012-05-29 15:53:55] NOTICE[5578] chan_sip.c: Registration from '<sip:[email protected]>' failed for '37.75.210.177' - No matching peer found [2012-05-29 15:53:55] NOTICE[5578] chan_sip.c: Registration from '<sip:[email protected]>' failed for '37.75.210.177' - No matching peer found [2012-05-29 15:53:57] NOTICE[5578] chan_sip.c: Sending fake auth rejection for device <sip:[email protected]>;tag=cb23fe53 [2012-05-29 15:53:57] NOTICE[5578] chan_sip.c: Sending fake auth rejection for device <sip:[email protected]>;tag=cb23fe53 [2012-05-29 15:54:02] NOTICE[5578] chan_sip.c: Registration from '<sip:[email protected]>' failed for '37.75.210.177' - No matching peer found [2012-05-29 15:54:03] NOTICE[5578] chan_sip.c: Registration from '<sip:[email protected]>' failed for '37.75.210.177' - No matching peer found [2012-05-29 21:20:36] NOTICE[5578] chan_sip.c: Registration from '"55435217"<sip:[email protected]>' failed for '65.218.221.180' - No matching peer found [2012-05-29 21:20:36] NOTICE[5578] chan_sip.c: Registration from '"1731687005"<sip:[email protected]>' failed for '65.218.221.180' - No matching peer found [2012-05-30 01:18:58] NOTICE[5578] chan_sip.c: Sending fake auth rejection for device "unknown" <sip:unknown@188.64.49.26>;tag=dEBcOzUysX [2012-05-30 01:18:58] NOTICE[5578] chan_sip.c: Sending fake auth rejection for device "unknown" <sip:unknown@188.64.49.26>;tag=9zUari4Mve [2012-05-30 01:19:00] NOTICE[5578] chan_sip.c: Sending fake auth rejection for device "unknown" <sip:unknown@188.64.49.26>;tag=sOYgI1ItQn [2012-05-30 01:19:02] NOTICE[5578] chan_sip.c: Sending fake auth rejection for device "unknown" <sip:unknown@188.64.49.26>;tag=2EGLTzZSEi [2012-05-30 01:19:04] NOTICE[5578] chan_sip.c: Sending fake auth rejection for device "unknown" <sip:unknown@188.64.49.26>;tag=j0JfZoPcur [2012-05-30 01:19:06] NOTICE[5578] chan_sip.c: Sending fake auth rejection for device "unknown" <sip:unknown@188.64.49.26>;tag=Ra0DFDKggt [2012-05-30 01:19:08] NOTICE[5578] chan_sip.c: Sending fake auth rejection for device "unknown" <sip:unknown@188.64.49.26>;tag=rR7q7aTHEz [2012-05-30 01:19:10] NOTICE[5578] chan_sip.c: Sending fake auth rejection for device "unknown" <sip:unknown@188.64.49.26>;tag=VHUMtOpIvU [2012-05-30 01:19:12] NOTICE[5578] chan_sip.c: Sending fake auth rejection for device "unknown" <sip:unknown@188.64.49.26>;tag=JxZUzBnPMW I use Asterisk for an automated phone system. The only thing it does is receives incoming calls and executes a Perl script. No outgoing calls, no incoming calls to an actual phone, no phones registered with Asterisk. It seems like there should be an easy way to block all unauthorized registration attempts, but I have struggled with this for a long time. It seems like there should be a more effective way to prevent these attempts from even getting far enough to reach my Asterisk logs. Some setting I could turn on/off that doesn't allow registration attempts at all or something. Is there any way to do this? Also, am I correct in assuming that the "Registration from ..." messages are likely people attempting to get access to my Asterisk server (probably to make calls on my account)? And what's the difference between those messages and the "Sending fake auth rejection ..." messages? Further detail: I know that the "Registration from ..." lines are intruders attempting to get access to my Asterisk server. With Fail2Ban set up, these IPs are banned after 5 attempts (for some reason, one got 6 attempts, but w/e). But I have no idea what the "Sending fake auth rejection ..." messages mean or how to stop these potential intrusion attempts. As far as I can tell, they have never been successful (haven't seen any weird charges on my bills or anything). Here's what I have done: Set up hardware firewall rules as shown below. Here, xx.xx.xx.xx is the IP address of the server, yy.yy.yy.yy is the IP address of our facility, and aa.aa.aa.aa, bb.bb.bb.bb, and cc.cc.cc.cc are the IP addresses that our VoIP provider uses. Theoretically, ports 10000-20000 should only be accessible by those three IPs.+-------+-----------------------------+----------+-----------+--------+-----------------------------+------------------+ | Order | Source Ip | Protocol | Direction | Action | Destination Ip | Destination Port | +-------+-----------------------------+----------+-----------+--------+-----------------------------+------------------+ | 1 | cc.cc.cc.cc/255.255.255.255 | udp | inbound | permit | xx.xx.xx.xx/255.255.255.255 | 10000-20000 | | 2 | any | tcp | inbound | permit | xx.xx.xx.xx/255.255.255.255 | 80 | | 3 | any | tcp | inbound | permit | xx.xx.xx.xx/255.255.255.255 | 2749 | | 4 | any | tcp | inbound | permit | xx.xx.xx.xx/255.255.255.255 | 443 | | 5 | any | tcp | inbound | permit | xx.xx.xx.xx/255.255.255.255 | 53 | | 6 | any | tcp | inbound | permit | xx.xx.xx.xx/255.255.255.255 | 1981 | | 7 | any | tcp | inbound | permit | xx.xx.xx.xx/255.255.255.255 | 1991 | | 8 | any | tcp | inbound | permit | xx.xx.xx.xx/255.255.255.255 | 2001 | | 9 | yy.yy.yy.yy/255.255.255.255 | udp | inbound | permit | xx.xx.xx.xx/255.255.255.255 | 137-138 | | 10 | yy.yy.yy.yy/255.255.255.255 | tcp | inbound | permit | xx.xx.xx.xx/255.255.255.255 | 139 | | 11 | yy.yy.yy.yy/255.255.255.255 | tcp | inbound | permit | xx.xx.xx.xx/255.255.255.255 | 445 | | 14 | aa.aa.aa.aa/255.255.255.255 | udp | inbound | permit | xx.xx.xx.xx/255.255.255.255 | 10000-20000 | | 17 | bb.bb.bb.bb/255.255.255.255 | udp | inbound | permit | xx.xx.xx.xx/255.255.255.255 | 10000-20000 | | 18 | any | tcp | inbound | permit | xx.xx.xx.xx/255.255.255.255 | 1971 | | 19 | any | tcp | inbound | permit | xx.xx.xx.xx/255.255.255.255 | 2739 | | 20 | any | tcp | inbound | permit | xx.xx.xx.xx/255.255.255.255 | 1023-1050 | | 21 | any | all | inbound | deny | any on server | 1-65535 | +-------+-----------------------------+----------+-----------+--------+-----------------------------+------------------+ Set up Fail2Ban. Would it be possible to plot the above data in a chart or coordinate system. Where the each plot should be a summary of all sales in the same map coordinate. Also a similar chart of order count would be nice to have.

  • Debian date jumping, causing complete lockup

    - by artfulrobot
I have a Debian Squeeze VM that has suddenly chosen to jump it's date forwards just over a month, which seems to confuse it no end and cause it to require a hard reset (yikes!). There is nothing unusual in the logs, except that the datestamp suddenly jumps (today back to 2005). It's happened three times, so I don't think it's to do with the leap second issue as the last one of those was in July. When it happened once I spent ages checking stuff but could not find anything, decided to forget it. But three times is becoming an issue on a production server. Edits providing information requested in comments (thanks!): I do not have control over the hypervisor, it is a hired VM. # cat /sys/devices/system/clocksource/clocksource0/current_clocksource kvm-clock # ntpq -p remote refid st t when poll reach delay offset jitter ============================================================================== +grendel.exizten 130.149.17.8 2 u 29 64 77 14.811 1.778 1.744 *panoramix.linoc 193.67.79.202 2 u 32 64 77 19.729 -0.419 1.691 +robert.elnounch 213.251.128.249 2 u 27 64 77 17.762 0.600 1.722 -janetzki.eu 83.169.43.165 3 u 31 64 77 27.214 3.575 1.638

  • Sonicwall Enhanced With One-To-One NAT, Firewall Blocking Everything

    - by Justin
Hello, just migrated from a Sonicwall TZ180 (Standard) to a Sonicwall TZ200 (Enhanced). Everything is working except the firewall rules are blocking everything. All hosts are online, and being assigned correct ip addresses. I can browse the internet on the hosts. I am using one-to-one NAT translating public ip addresses to private. 64.87.28.98 -> 192.168.1.2 64.87.28.99 -> 192.168.1.3 etc First order of business is to get ping working. My rule is in the new firewall is (FROM WAN to LAN): SOURCE DESTINATION SERVICE ACTION USERS ANY 192.168.1.2-192.168.1.6 PING ALLOW ALL This should be working, but not. I even tried changing the destination to the public ip addresses, but still no luck. SOURCE DESTINATION SERVICE ACTION USERS ANY 64.87.28.98-64.87.28.106 PING ALLOW ALL Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

  • How to get Synergy working on Ubuntu 11.10 and Windows 7?

    - by Linda
I'm using Ubuntu 11.10 32-bit and Windows 7 64-bit, however, Synergy only works when a window (application or folder) is open and touching the edge of the screen where the mouse should "jump". In other words, if a window is open and maximized, Synergy works normally. Without any windows, the mouse does not jump to the other screen. My steps: (Ubuntu) apt-get install -y quicksynergy (Windows) Install Synergy (I've tried both 1.3.8 and 1.4.8 and both 32 and 64-bit) On Ubuntu 11.10 32-bit (Synergy Server config): ~/.quicksynergy/synergy.conf section: screens myubuntu: mywin7: end section: links myubuntu: right = mywin7 mywin7: left = myubuntu end On Ubuntu 11.10 32-bit: $ /usr/bin/synergys -f --config .quicksynergy/synergy.conf ... 2012-04-25T14:04:12 NOTE: client "mywin7" has connected /build/buildd/synergy-1.3.6/lib/server/CServer.cpp,287 (output hangs here) On Windows 7 64-bit: Synergy 1.3.8 Client on Microsoft Windows 7 x86 (WOW64) started client connecting to 'myubuntu': ###.###.###.###:24800 connected to server (output hangs here) At this point, things should work, but my mouse still can't change screens unless a window is maximized on my Ubuntu machine. Everything is running on port 24800. No firewall on Ubuntu. Firewall port 24800 open on Windows 7. This was previously working on Ubuntu 10.10 and Windows 7 (so only Ubuntu has been upgraded). I'm open to using either 32 or 64-bit on either server or client side, but I just want to get it working on Ubuntu 11.10 and Windows 7! I'm also using Ubuntu Classic (no effects), and not Unity.

  • Default IPv6 route on debian squeeze does not come up after boot

    - by Georg Bretschneider
I have a problem with my default IPv6 route not coming up after boot on a Debian Squeeze system. This is my config (/etc/network/interfaces): # Loopback device: auto lo iface lo inet loopback iface lo inet6 loopback # device: br0 auto br0 iface br0 inet static bridge_ports eth0 bridge_fd 0 address 88.198.62.xx broadcast 88.198.62.63 netmask 255.255.255.224 gateway 88.198.62.33 up route add -net 88.198.62.32 netmask 255.255.255.224 gw 88.198.62.33 br0 iface br0 inet6 static address 2a01:4f8:131:10x::2 netmask 64 gateway 2a01:4f8:131:100::1 up route -A inet6 add 2a01:4f8:131:100::1/59 dev br0 My inet comes up alright, but I have to exec the route command manually after boot to make IPv6 work. Otherwise I can't even reach my gateway. This is the output of ip -6 route show after boot: 2a01:4f8:131:10x::/64 dev br0 proto kernel metric 256 mtu 1500 advmss 1440 hoplimit 4294967295 unreachable fe80::/64 dev lo proto kernel metric 256 error -101 mtu 16436 advmss 16376 hoplimit 4294967295 fe80::/64 dev br0 proto kernel metric 256 mtu 1500 advmss 1440 hoplimit 4294967295 fe80::/64 dev eth0 proto kernel metric 256 mtu 1500 advmss 1440 hoplimit 4294967295 I already tried it with: up ip -6 route add 2a01:4f8:131:100::1 dev br0 up ip -6 route add default via 2a01:4f8:131:100::1 dev br0 in /etc/network/interfaces, but with the same results. If I execute those commands manually on my shell, everything starts working nicely. And yes, I tried with post-up instead of up, too. Only other changes I made was to activate ip forwarding for IPv6, because I want to run some LXC containers on that system.
