  Hi folks, I have a Date type column in Oracle DB and it contains date and time for sure. But when I'm trying to get data in java application it will return date with bunch of zeros instead of real time. • GNUStep make with a precompiled (and prefixed) .pch header from Xcode project?

  I'm trying to build an Xcode project with GNUStep-make. Right now the project is very small (3 classes) however it will grow to hundreds of classes over the coming weeks so I'm trying to get everything figured out and well-organised now. Xcode creates a ProjectName_Prefix.pch file which is a header that: a) get precompiled and b) is prefixed to every file in my project; at least if I understand correctly. Now, how do I tell GNUStep-make what to do with this file when it builds? I've added it to the XXX_PRECOMPILED_HEADERS variable. Cioccolata_OBJC_PRECOMPILED_HEADERS = Cioccolata_Prefix.pch With this in place the build fails with the error: Making all for framework Cioccolata... make[1]: *** No rule to make target `/Users/chris/Projects/Mac/Cioccolata/build/GNUStep/obj/PrecompiledHeaders/ObjC/Cioccolata_Prefix.pch', needed by `internal-precompile-headers'. Stop. make: *** [Cioccolata.all.framework.variables] Error 2 I've also got the following in my makefile: ADDITIONAL_OBJC_FLAGS += -include Cioccolata_Prefix.pch -Winvalid-pch I'm not sure what I've done wrong here. I basically have tried to follow the GNUStep documentation for precompiled headers. None of my project's source files expressly include the Foundation framework since this header does that.

• NSNumber floatValue not equal to NSNumber value

  Hi Everyone, First post here. Having a problem with NSNumber's floatValue method -- somehow, it returns an imprecise number. Here's the problem: I store a bunch of NSNumbers in an array, like this: NSArray *a = [NSArray arrayWithObjects: [NSNumber numberWithFloat:0.04f], [NSNumber numberWithFloat:0.028f], [NSNumber numberWithFloat:0.016f], [NSNumber numberWithFloat:0.004f], nil]; Then I try to retrieve the first value (for example): NSNumber n = (NSNumber) [a objectAtIndex:0]; CGFloat f = [n floatValue]; In the debugger, n shows a value of 0.04 (in the summary column), but f shows a value of 0.0399999991. • Cleaning up temp folder after long-running subprocess exits

  I have a Python script (running inside another application) which generates a bunch of temporary images. I then use subprocess to launch an application to view these. When the image-viewing process exists, I want to remove the temporary images. I can't do this from Python, as the Python process may have exited before the subprocess completes. I.e I cannot do the following: p = subprocess.Popen(["imgviewer", "/example/image1.jpg", "/example/image1.jpg"]) p.communicate() os.unlink("/example/image1.jpg") os.unlink("/example/image2.jpg") ..as this blocks the main thread, nor could I check for the pid exiting in a thread etc The only solution I can think of means I have to use shell=True, which I would rather avoid: cmd = ['imgviewer'] cmd.append("/example/image2.jpg") for x in cleanup: cmd.extend(["&&", "rm", x]) cmdstr = " ".join(cmd) subprocess.Popen(cmdstr, shell = True) This works, but is hardly elegant, and will fail with filenames containing spaces etc.. Basically, I have a background subprocess, and want to remove the temp files when it exits, even if the Python process no longer exists.

• "tailing" a binary file based on string location using bash?

  I've got a bunch of binary files, each containing an embedded string near the end of the file but at different places (only occurs once in each file). I need to extract the part of the file starting at the location of the string till the end of the file and dump it into a new file. eg. If the file's contents is "AWREDEDEDEXXXERESSDSDS" and the string of interest is "XXX", then the part of the file I need is "XXXERESSDSDS". What's the easiest way to do this in bash?

• Simple image server

  I have a bunch of images that I need others to browse via a web browser in pretty much the same way as Apache-Gallery. I'd be able to dump all my images in a directory so that users hitting: http://server:port/directory would see small thumbnails and selecting an image would load it full size on a page with options to browse the previous or next image. I'm looking for a non Apache solution, much like the wonderfull Python simple http server, that can be launched anywhere with minimal configuration & fuss e.g. python -m SimpleHTTPServer 8000 In fact, the python solution above is pretty much want I want except it doesn't thumbnail the images but just a simple directory listing. Happy to use an app written in any common language so long as it is self contained and can run on linux on a custom port (and to re-iterate, not an Apache module).

• How can I click a button behind a transparent UIView?

  Let's say we have a view controller with one sub view. the subview takes up the center of the screen with 100 px margins on all sides. We then add a bunch of little stuff to click on inside that subview. We are only using the subview to take advantage of the new frame ( x=0, y=0 inside the subview is actually 100,100 in the parent view). Then, imagine that we have something behind the subview, like a menu. I want the user to be able to select any of the "little stuff" in the subview, but if there is nothing there, I want touches to pass through it (since the background is clear anyway) to the buttons behind it. How can I do this? It looks like touchesBegan goes through, but buttons don't work.

  Hi, I am developing a simple WPF application without any auto layout. The goal is when a user clicks (mouse down) a element (say textBlock) will appear at the location of the mouse click. For this I am using canvas panel embedded in a Grid of 1 row, 1 column and scrollviewer (visible). The issues are: 1. when the application window is resized the scroll viewers do not become active. 2. I want the ability to auto grow the canvas with mouse drag. Something like in MS-Excel when user drags the mouse horizontally/vertically the canvas should grow. I have searched net a lot to figure this out and am unable to get an answer. • OpenGLES rotation in fixed coordinate system

  Hi, I'm having real trouble finding out how to rotate an object arround two axes without changing axes orientation. I need only local rotation, first arround X axis and then arround Y axis(only example, it doesn't matter how many transformations arround which axes) without transforming the whole coordinate system, only the object. The problem is that if I'm using glRotatef arround X axis, the axes are rotated also and that's what I don't want. I've red bunch of articles about it but it seems I'm still missing something. Thanks for every help. To have some sample code here, it's something like this glMatrixMode(GL_MODELVIEW); glLoadIdentity(); glRotatef(rotX, 1.0f, 0.0f, 0.0f); glRotatef(rotY, 0.0f, 1.0f, 0.0f); drawObject(); but this transforms the coordinate system also.

• Is there a way to get Apache to serve files with the question mark in their name?

  I scraped a bunch of pages using wget -m -k -E. The resulting files have names in the form foo.php?bar.html. Apache guesses everything after the ? is a query string, is there a way to tell it to ignore the ? as the query string delimiter (and see foo.php?bar.html as the requested file and not foo.php)? To save you a trip to wget manpage: -m : mirror recursively -E : foo.php?bar becomes foo.php?bar.html -k : convert links in pages (foo.php?bar now links to foo.php?bar.html inside of all the pages so they display properly)

• On WindowsMobile, how can i tell what other processes are reserving shared memory space?

  On WindowMobile 6.1, I am using VirtualAlloc to reserve 2MB chunks, which will return me an address from the large shared memory area so allocations do not count against my per process virtual space. (doc here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa908768.aspx) However, on some devices i notice that I am not able to reserve memory after a certain point. VirtualAlloc will return NULL (getlasterror() says out of memory). The only explanation for this that I see is that another process has already reserved a bunch of memory and my process is therefore unable to. Any idea where I can find a tool to show me the shared mem region of a WM device? Thanks.

I now need to implement a slideshow on every page, and to follow suit, I need a Prototype cycle or slideshow plugin. The requirements are fairly simple: images should fade-in/out every N seconds four controls: prev, pause, play, next i'd prefer to add images to the slideshow via JavaScript; not by adding too many tags Can any one suggest an existing plugin that can be customized easily and is not bloated like most of the other plugins. • Where to start with Direct2d?

  Interested in learning Direct2d to create a Windows 8 app, but after 2 hours of research I'm thoroughly confused. Samples like this (Creating a Simple Direct2D Application) seem to assume you know what an HWND and HRESULT is, and how the Windows API works in general. My question is this: do you need an understanding of the Win API, COM, OLE, and all this other Windows stuff in order to get a good grasp on Direct2d/3d? All the other barebones tutorials assume that you know all this stuff and I don't really know where to start. The startup D2D project in VS 2012 gives you a bunch of files but there's no main or WinMain... How does this program even start?

• Access to variables in an asp.net user control vs an include file

  I've asked this question before but couldn't get the answer I was looking for so I'm going to try it again. I'm translating pages from old asp to asp.net and I don't want to do this any other way so I really just want to know if this can be done. In asp, I'd assign a variable on one page <% myVar = "something" %> I could assign many variables here and then use an include <!--#include file="Test2.aspx"--> then in test2 file, I could access all the variables without having to pass all the variables into the control or declaring them again, like <% myVar = "something else" %> I want to do this the dot net way but I have some thirty variables on the page and i don't want to pass a bunch into the user control and I don't want to have to keep declaring the same variables. All I really want to know is if there is some way to replicate the behavior above in asp.net?

• Git push won't do anything (Everything up-to-date)

  I'm trying to update a git repository on github. I made a bunch of changes, added them, committed then attempted to do a git push. The response tells me that everything is up to date, but clearly it's not. git remote show origin responds with the repository I'd expect. Why is git telling me the repository is up to date when there are local commits that aren't visible on the repository? • Weird IIS7 http redirection behavior

  I have a web server running Windows Server 2008 with IIS7. I have a bunch of websites which are all bound to the same IP address, but with different host header values. Most of the host headers are something like www.sitename.com. I also have a corresponding website entry for each which listens for the host "sitename.com" and does a redirect to "www.sitename.com" within IIS7 (to cater for non-www requests). Now this is all pretty straight forward, but I've noticed the when setting up the Http Redirection, some wierd things happen: Firstly, the "redirect" website entries must be pointed at a different physical directory than the site it's trying to redirect to, otherwise the redirection settings get set for both sites at once. Secondly, sometimes whilst setting up Http Redirection on an individual site, Http Redirection gets set at a server level, and all sites start redirecting to that one URL. How does this happen? Under what circumstances could setting Http Redirection on an individual site affect all sites? This is scary!!!

• managing library dependencies with Boost.Build and C++

  I want to develop a project which can be built on a bunch of different platforms. The project code will be in C++, what's the the best way to manage libraries? I plan on using bjam as the build system because I'm going to be depending on Boost and their unit testing framework as well. The two dependent libraries are Boost itself and FLTK. The possibilities that come to mind for library management are: include build artifacts (binaries) and headers for all supported platforms in-tree include complete source for all dependent libraries in-tree, and somehow script them as dependencies A combination of 1 and 2, like node.js does with v8 inform the user that they need to build the libraries themselves and then have them on the PATH or in some special directory, like libcurl does with its dependencies What is the best approach here? The project will probably not grow beyond a few thousand lines over the next six months, but I want to make the right choice here so that I don't have to come back and switch everything around later.

  Hi there, I've got a bunch of products with sizes to ship and I need to find out the cheapest rate. Given a shipment made out of sizes, say [1,3,3,5] I need to decide how to ship - all together or separate. However it's not as simple as [1,3,3,5] or 1 & 3 & 3 & 5, i need all of the possible combinations something like: [ [[1,3,3,5]], ( 1 shipment ) [[1],[3,3,5]], ( 2 shipments ) [[1,3],[3,5]], ( 2 shipments ) [[1,3,3],[5]], ( 2 shipments ) [[1,5],[3,3]], ( 2 shipments ) [[1,3],[3],[5]], ( 3 shipments ) [[1],[3],[3],[5]] ( 4 shipments ) ] ( etc - many more i assume ) I've tried combinations from the facets gem but it's not quite what i'm after, and I'm not sure how else to approach this problem. I understand it probably has a name and a solution if only I knew the name :) I understand there could be a lot of combinations, but the initial array of sizes won't be larger than 7 or so. • Monitor file selection in explorer (like clipboard monitoring) in C#

  Hi, I am trying to create a little helper application, one scenario is "file duplication finder". What I want to do is this: I start my C# .NET app, it gives me an empty list. Start the normal windows explorer, select a file in some folder The C# app tells me stuff about this file (e.g. duplicates) How can I monitor the currently selected file in the "normal" windows explorer instance. Do I have to start the instance using .NET to have a handle of the process. Do I need a handle, or is there some "global hook" I can monitor inside C#. Its a little bit like monitoring the clipboard, but not exactly the same... • Is there any simple way to test two PNGs for equality?

  I've got a bunch of PNG images, and I'm looking for a way to identify duplicates. By duplicates I mean, specifically, two PNG files whose uncompressed image data are identical, not necessarily whose files are identical. This means I can't do something simple like compare CRC hash values. I figure this can actually be done reliably since PNGs use lossless compression, but I'm worried about speed. I know I can winnow things down a little by testing for equal dimensions first, but when it comes time to actually compare the images against each other, is there any way to do it reasonably efficiently? (ie. faster than the "double-for-loop checking pixel values against each other" brute-force method?)

  I'm new to stackoverflow and have been reading through a bunch of the "highest voted" questions for GWT. Several of these questions talk about the pitfalls or problems with GWT. In the articles: Which Javascript framework (jQuery vs Dojo vs … )? and Biggest GWT Pitfalls?, some posters seem to suggest that GWT is not lightweight enough or that there are better alternatives that may be used. Do most of you feel that there are problems with GWT that have not been fixed with GWT 2.0 -- which would make you inclined to suggest using a simpler framework for a new project? To some extent, shouldn't GWT be somewhat future-proof (since you don't have to worry about it changing drastically from release to release and since it is backed by Google)? I realize that the answer to this question depends greatly upon what you want to do or what you wish to make. I am looking at this from the perspective of starting a new web application that will eventually be used by millions of users.

  I have a data frame with a bunch of categorical variables. Some of them contain NA's and I use the addNA function to convert them to an explicit factor level. My problem comes when I try to treat them as NA's they don't seem to register.
