• Rewriting html links with modproxyperlhtml

  I'm trying to setup an Apache reverse proxy using mod_proxy and modproxyperlhtml. This is my scenario: Domain for the proxy: http : // www.myserver.com/ Destination server (the one behind the proxy): http : // myserver.foo.com/myapp/ I'm sorry that I have to space the URL but serverfault doesn't allow me to post more than two links as "spam protection mechanism" (ridiculous on a site where you ask questions about servers and it's really probable to post more than two times the same URL's to explain your question). The idea is to map http : // www.myserver.com/ to http : // myserver.foo.com/myapp/ . Note that the path on the proxy is / and on the destination server is /myapp/. All of the examples I can find on the net (like the one on the official documentation of modproxyperlhtml) are the other way around, ie. path on the proxy /myapp/ and path on the destination server /. • Could not log-in properly but shows no error in joomla

What happens is when I log-in using the user with uploaded photo, it's not redirecting properly it just return to log-in, but when i log-in through backend using other user which is super admin, i could see that user which appears as logged in. I started saving the images in the database because I am having problem with the directory when I have uploaded the site. I think the log-in was affected by the blob type data in the database. Could that be the problem? What could be the solution? -saeha

• When to use SOAP over REST

  So, how does REST based services differ from SOAP based services, and when should you use SOAP? Representational State Transfer (REST) implements the standard HTTP/HTTPS as an interface allowing clients to obtain access to resources based on requested URIs. An example of a URI may look like this http://mydomain.com/service/method?parameter=var1&parameter=var2. It is important to note that REST based services are stateless because http/https is natively stateless. One of the many benefits for implementing HTTP/HTTPS as an interface is can be found in caching. Caching can be done on a web service much like caching is done on requested web pages. Caching allows for reduced web server processing and increased response times because content is already processed and stored for immediate access. Typical actions performed by REST based services include generic CRUD (Create, Read, Update, and Delete) operations and operations that do not require state. Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) on the other hand uses a generic interface in order to transport messages. Unlike REST, SOAP can use HTTP/HTTPS, SMTP, JMS, or any other standard transport protocols. Furthermore, SOAP utilizes XML in the following ways: Define a message Defines how a message is to be processed Defines the encoding of a message Lays out procedure calls and responses As REST aligns more with a Resource View, SOAP aligns more with a Method View in that business logic is exposed as methods typically through SOAP web service because they can retain state. In addition, SOAP requests are not cached therefore every request will be processed by the server. As stated before Soap does retain state and this gives it a special advantage over REST for services that need to preform transactions where multiple calls to a service are need in order to complete a task. Additionally, SOAP is more ideal for enterprise level services that implement standard exchange formats in the form of contracts due to the fact that REST does not currently support this. A real world example of where SOAP is preferred over REST can be seen in the banking industry where money is transferred from one account to another. SOAP would allow a bank to perform a transaction on an account and if the transaction failed, SOAP would automatically retry the transaction ensuring that the request was completed. • Why MySQL sat for 2 minutes doing nothing?

  This was a one-time thing, not reproducible... But I saved the show innodb status output. Can anybody tell what's going on here? • Wget save cookies not working

  I've been trying to login in the pyload through the web api, but wget is not saving the cookies and I don't understand why.   I want to access a newspaper site and then download their epaper copies (in PDF). The site requires me to login using my email address and password and then it permits me to access those PDF URLs. I'm having trouble 'setting my session' in wget. When I login into the site from my browser, it sets two cookie values: [email protected] Password=12345 I tried: wget --post-data "[email protected]&Password=12345" http://epaper.abc.com/login.aspx However, that just downloaded the login page and saved it locally The FORM on the login page has two fields: txtUserID txtPassword and radiobuttons like this: <input id="rbtnManchester" type="radio" checked="checked" name="txtpub" value="44"> Another button: <input id="rbtnLondon" type="radio" name="txtpub" value="64"> If I post this to the login.aspx page, I get the same output wget --post-data "[email protected]&txtPassword=12345&txtpub=44" http://epaper.abc.com/login.aspx If I do: --save-cookies abc_cookies.txt it doesnt seem to have anything other than the default content. Therefore i think there is something wrong with my webserver and it might be disallowing/caching the post parameters that i provide because sometimes it returns a 200 response but most of the times it returns the 403. To use UPK for QA, create content and assign it appropriately to authorized reviewers. Then have them open the developer, use customized views to find content assigned to them quickly and check out the topics. Then they can use the topic editor to review the content and provide comments right into the bubbles or use explanation frames. It makes QA-ing content this way easier than publishing and sending out .tpcs or docs for people to review. How about UPK for bug tracking? The hardest part about fixing bugs in software is reproducing the error! When you use UPK for bug tracking, it captures the exact steps the user took that gave them the error. Now development can easily walk through the process in a simulated environment to see what might have caused it, they have a documented procedure for what generated the error and they are able to better communicate with the LOB. Also, they can update or attach the simulation\documentation to any defect management software like bugzilla or something similar -all thanks to UPK.

But when using Ubuntu 12.04, it only controls the backlight without automatically adjusting the brightness. How can I enable light sensor to automatically adjustment the LCD brightness without losing the keyboard backlight adjustment due to surrounding state?

• Mod_rewrite to eliminate query strings

  Hi everyone, I have been working on this for a while but I'm not finding exactly what I am looking for. I am writing a webapp to let my users create and publish pieces of HTML content in a domain and URL folder structure of their choosing. All of the content and requested URL structures are stored in a database. I have all of the code in my index.php (in the root folder) to access the database content, and based on the server name (and hopefully folder structure) will pick out the proper content from the DB and display it to the end-users browser. So my situation looks like this: www.test.com/index.php?id=123234345 ... will display the proper page, but I want my users to be able to define a unique "page name" instead of using the numeric index (also I want to hide the /index.php part) so what I would like the end-user to see is: www.test.com/arbitrary-unique-keyword/keyword2/keyword3 which will invoke the index.php page in the root folder. Then I will use the PHP $_SERVER['PATH_INFO'] variable to match the requested folder structure up with the proper content in my database and display that. All the material I have found so far expects me to hard code parts of the folder structure into the rules.... but I think I want something simpler (perhaps). So the question in a nutshell: How do I use mod_rewrite to allow all "non-existent" folder paths be passed through to a main index.php residing in the root folder? (For all paths that DO exist, like for calls to images... I want those to succeed and not be directed to the index.php obviously) Thanks everyone, please let me know if I can clear anything up.

  I have redHat 5.3 (Tikanga) with Mysql 5.0.86 configued with RIAD 10 HW, I run an application inquiries from Mysql/InnoDB and MyIsam tables, the queries are super fast,but some quires on Innodb tables sometime slow down and took more than 1-3 seconds to run and these queries are simple and optimized, this problem occurred just on innodb tables in different time with random queries. • New Feature! Automatic Categories for Geekswithblogs.net

  One of the features we have been working on is a way to categorize posts without the need of all our bloggers getting on the same page with what categories we have and making them select the categories.  Johnny Kauffman, one of our team members at AJI Software, developed what we call the Sherlock Project over the past few months.  Sherlock is a category suggestion engine based on the content within the posts.  Now, after a post is published, Sherlock will investigate the content and come up with the suggested categories that content fits in.  This will now allow you to go to the specific topics you are interested in and see all the related posts. This is just the beginning, so many more opportunities will arise now that we have our content organized.  One of the first features I will be adding is RSS feeds for each category and sub category.  If you are into ALM, we will have a feed for that! • Changing the RSS and Dynamic Views layout when using Blogger as a Podcast index

  I'm trying to set up a podcast service at present. This is just a 'spare time' task - so I wanted a quick, easy way to do it. To get this working: I've ripped (with owner permission) some YouTube content across to MP3 and hosted this content on Azure Blob Storage. I've posted blog posts - with linked mp3 content - inside a Blogger website. I've registered the RSS feed with iTunes This all seems to be working OK - http://dotnetmobilepodcast.blogspot.co.uk/ However, when it comes to a couple of final touches, then I'm hitting problems. RSS I would like to add iTunes metadata to the RSS feed. However, I can't find any way to do this inside the Blogger system. To workaround this I've tried using FeedBurner with its StreamCast plugin. However, the output from FeedBurner doesn't seem to be accepted by iTunes - e.g. http://feeds.feedburner.com/MobileAppCSharpPodcasts leads to this very unhelpful 11111 message: Is there any other way I can get this iTunes metadata content into the Blogger RSS feed - e.g. maybe an alternative service or a Yahoo! Pipe? Showing the MP3 files in the Blog I'm trying to work out how to automatically display the linked enclosures inside the blog posts - do the blogger Dynamic Views don't seem to have any way of doing this? I've found the HTML in those views very difficult to follow. If necessary I can workaround this using manual entries into each blog post... but I'd prefer to do this programatically if I can.
